Cisco Firewall :: PIX515E - Internal Nodes / Bandwidth Utilization?

Jan 13, 2013

The infrastructure has PIX515E as the Firewall and few Web Servers and Database Servers inside. Is it possible to retreieve information regarding the bandwidth available at the outside interface of PIX (Internet link utilization ) utilized by each of the nodes seperately? I could use SNMP to get the overall data transfer at the Outside interface of PIX but isit possible to get utilization details of individual nodes ? Is Netflow an option ?

Cisco :: Using SNMP To Monitor Bandwidth Utilization History ASA 5510

Dec 22, 2008

I matched the traffic statistics on one of my Cisco ASA site-site tunnels with the OID:1.3.6.1.4.1.9.9.171.1.4.3.1.1.25.4142 (cipSecTunHistInOctets).  I was real proud of myself for a few days until I checked the history and found the OID wasnt working. After some troubleshooting I found that the last four digits (4142 in this case) change whenever the tunnel drops and re-establishes itself. Any way to collect tunnel utilization history on an ASA with SNMP?  Is there a different OID I can use thats based on the endpoint IP?

Cisco Switching/Routing :: 3750Gs / MRTG Bandwidth Utilization Not Same As Sh Interface

Dec 19, 2011

The other day  3rd party supplier ran some stats on our Gigabit link between 2  Cisco catalyst 3750Gs.now the graphs produced showed only a Maximum output of about 100Mbps ( 5 minute intervals) yet when I do a show interface it shows a lot more always 150Mbps and more. So I did my own Perl script  doing an "sh interface" every minute and then graphed it, and the results were a lot different to the MRTG results.Questions: I know MRTG uses SNMP  to get the traffic  is there a bug in the SNMP, what OID does it use?does the "sh  interface" give the correct results?

Cisco Firewall :: Need Test Configuration With PIX515E

Jun 27, 2012

I need configuring a newly reinstated PIX515E with IOS 6.3 to test the configuration of a load balancer.I would like to setup with two Inside interfaces (or simply two interfaces) for testing. I just need it to pass traffic (basically HTTP and HTTPS) between these two interfaces without using NAT.The older IOS is causing me some problems. I don't have an outside interface configured for Internet access, but trying to connect via IP address does't work either. I may be able to configure a second DNS server for the 192.168.12.X network for testing purposes if needed. I even tried to set the default route to the Interface of the production ASA's inside interface (3.1), but that did not work either.

Cisco Firewall :: Tell If PIX515e Image Is Genuine?

Aug 28, 2011

I just bought a used PIX515e. It is running version 8.0(3) and ASDM 6.1.5  Because I do not know the history of the unit, how can I tell if the image used came from cisco and not some download site?  I guess I should've thought about this before buying it but hindsight is...you know. Worse case is that the person who had it before me dl the software that was infected with a backdoor or something else. I don't have a service contract so I'm kinda stuck.

Can I download the image from the firewall flash and compare a MD5SUM?

There is some traffic making it thru the tunnel that would have to hit the inside int first and even that doesnt showup in the capture.

Does Mixed Powerline AV 500 And 200 Network Slow Down 500 Nodes

Aug 30, 2011

I have two netgear powerline AV 500 ethernet adapters that give me near ideal internet access on my media computer (FIOS 25/25mpbs tests out at 8ms 25.4/24.7) and perhaps 100-140mbps to my router, printer, drive, etc. I now want to add a few wifi points and instead of having the mess of a powerline adapter + a wifi router I think it will be neater to have an all in one solution. Most of the ones that I find are 200mbps, however. I know that 500 is backwards compatible, but will a mixed solution slow everything down like it can for a mixed wireless g/n network?

D-link Dir-655 :: Mac Filtering - Only Want Wifi Filtered / Not Wired Lan Nodes

Mar 19, 2011

All 3 previous wireless routers I've had were all LinkSys routers and I had to overcome a learning curve since configuring this DIR-655 is slightly different..What I want to do is allow only the WiFi MAC addresses that I choose to access the network. It seems to me that in order to accomplish this I have to include all of my wired LAN devices' MAC filters as well. I can see having MAC filtering for WiFi devices, however why do I need to add my wired LAN devices MAC addresses?  I'm not going to allow just anyone to walk into my home off the street and plug a computer into the network via CAT-5 ethernet cable, so isn't there a way to accomplish just the WiFi allow list and the heck with the wired nodes?  The LinkSys routers I used in the past allowed me to allow the MAC filter for WiFi devices only.  Is there a way around having to allow all MAC's and just allowing the wifi's?
