View 0 Replies View RelatedAfter updating the firmware of my WRVS4400N from V 2.0.1.3 to 2.0.2.1 all traffic was blocked for all machines, even some not included in the list of PCs. As the log was showing that all traffic was blocked by access policies, I disabled the only rule I had (blocking access to some sites to some MAC address list) and everything worked fine.I tried creating a new, simpler rule but after activation it blocked again all traffic for all the LAN.After many trials, I decided to roll back to the previous V2.0.1.3 which solved this problem.
View 1 Replies View RelatedWe have had our router and remote computers set up with Quick VPN for over a year. We've had our share of problems but have worked around them.
Now, out of the blue, no one can connect to the VPN. I went in to try to do some 'troubleshooting' and the ONLY thing that allows our VPN connection to go through is to completely disable the RV016 firewall. We have too many remote users to actually start and stop the firewall everytime someone needs the VPN connection.
I have an RV110W running firmware version 1.0.1.6 and I am trying to figure out how to enable website blocking in the Internet Access Policy screen. The Add Row button is grayed out in that section, as are the associated checkboxes.
Is there something else one needs to do to enable this feature?
If I set a name etc. at the top, and click save, it tells me "You must at least set a website blocking or PCs rule," so it is not the case that one has to save some information before continuing!
Belkin N450 Router. I want to restrict Internet access completely but allow LAN access to a shared drive for a particular computer on my wireless network. I have gone into the web based set up page and under access controls have enabled and added this computer to the list. I have blocked http, https, ftp and nntp. I don't know if this is enough. The reason I am asking is that I am in Iraq right now and I want to allow my fellow team members access to the wireless for using viber on their iphones but one cat even though he has hardwired internet wants to continuously suck off my wireless for his computer to download stuff since I paid for faster internet. I am trying to do this quietly and still allow him access to the shared drives on the LAN. Sooooo If I block him just outright will he still have access to the drives or do I need to pick and choose like I did above and if I need to pick and choose did I miss anything other then pop3 email and imap?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have 2 ssid signals setup at my workplace.
the 2nd one is for all guests and it's isolated from the lan+trusted(1st one) with a vlan feature.
the 1st one is for all trusted devices over wifi. the wifi channel is setup to allow mac addresses of the two asante security cameras. the cameras upload videos to an ftp on my server. the two will connect to the router at first, I can ping them or see them in 'my network'. give it a little time and they disappear. then I have to power off/on the router or the cameras to make them work for a few minutes. the process repeats.
the cameras make lots of connections to the ftp server. I'm suspecting they're flooding the router and it blocks them. occasionaly they will come back for a minute or two and disappear again as if blocked/unblocked.
I added their mac addresses in hopes of making them 'trusted' devices. I've tried them on both ssids. I checked and unchecked firewall/security checks and icsa settings. all other devices I tried, multiple phones and laptops work without problems on both ssids and they don't get blocked.
I have a fibre connection on the dedicated WAN which was working perfect until someone somewhere cut through the line. The SA520 fell over to the Optional WAN port which is basic ADSL line which is connected. Logmein client is online too.
But it refuses to browse webpages, appears to be a dns issue or firewall or both.
I have added the ISP dns addresses into the forwarders on my server.
I have an RV082 (running 2.0.0.19-tm) set up as the gateway to the Internet on my home LAN, and connect to it through several switches / hubs around my house. Randomly, and from various connections around the house (which are all plugged in to different ports of the RV082), a Web request will fail to load, giving a "Server not found" error in the browser. When I look at the log in the RV082, it says, "Connection Refused: Policy Violation".
It seems to be just blocking the DNS requests - everything else appears to go through normally. For example, I get the message "Looking up domain name.com" in the bottom corner of the browser and the request fails, displaying the Mozilla "Server not found" error page. When I click the "Try Again" button the page, it goes through just fine and everything works.
I don't have any services running behind the firewall, and do not use the VPN settings. Here are my current firewall settings:
Firewall : Enable
I need to access a shared folder over a VPN connection. Very simple host network: no Microsoft server, no AD. Just a WRVS4400N router and a peer-to-peer network.
Purchased a second WRVS4400N router to create VPN from SOHO and configured via VPN Setup Wizard.
When at the office, I can map a drive letter to a share on the other computer, as follows
net use f: \192.168.1.111MyShare /User:MYSELF mypass
However, when try same command over VPN, I receive the response:
System error 53 has occurred. The network path was not found.
I also cannot net view the other computer -- same error. However, I can successfully ping 192.168.1.111.
More info:
Routers have latest firmware.
Over VPN I cannot browse network via Windows Explorer (Win7 Network Neighborhood shows only my own PC. In the office I can see the other computer and the NAS appliance "NAS01").
I also cannot connect by entering \192.168.1.111MyShare into Windows Explorer's address bar (although I can do that successfully when at the office), or by choosing Map Network Drive from "Computer".
However, over VPN, I can get into NAS administration via https://192.168.1.3 and I can print to the office TCPIP printer (192.168.1.222)
We cannot access our wireless modem because the Cisco router is blocking it. When I try to access the router through a browser I get a message that the router is blocking access.

It does not respond to remote management access. If I reboot the firewall (pwr off/on) everything works correctly for the next month or so and then it begins blocking all inbound traffic again. Local access to the Internet and VPN tunneling are not affected. When it's working, all my rules and port forwarding work correctly.

I wonder if I can have a RV042 VPN Tunnel to a RV082, and in the RV082 block all traffic to the internet that comes form the PCs that are behind the RV042.
Remote PC -> RV042 -> VPN -> RV082 -> RV082 Firewall (block internet traffice, allow intranet traffic)
Every time I turn on my PC I find I have lost internet access. I can fix this by going to Network Connections, disabling the connection, re-enabling the connection. But why does this happen? I notice the the following:1. When I look at the Network Connection it shows "Local Area Connection, Network 3, Unidentified network, Realtek PCIe....."2. When I re-enable the network AVG tells me the Firewall settings have changed - Directly Connected to Network has been set to Unidentified..... etc

I'm having an issue where our RV042 router is blocking some of our customers from sending us e-mails.I noticed thatCISCO has produced a newer version of the RVO42 V3.0 and has firmware version 4.x. can you upgrade the Linksys RV042 Hardware V 1.2 to the 4.x firmware? I have found a few articles and forums online about otherpeople having the same issue with the RV042 v1 randomly blocking, e-mail but no one ever has a solution to correct the issue. Some people have recommend to roll back to factory default and reconfigure the router as the config may by corrupt.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI am setting up a network for a friend with children. He has a BT homehub and wants to block their access between certain hours. However by using access control on BT it tells you that you have been blocked which is no good as he cannot feign ignorance and pretend he doesn't know what to do (as his kids will pester him to fix it). He therefore wants to block their access more discreetly (as if the internet was generally timing out or messing up instead of actually displaying they have access control). Is there a way to block an individual's access on the router without blocking everybody either on a timer or manually done each time (thus if there isn't a way of automating it he can at least do this manually each time).

It doesn't matter which browser (FireFox, IE, Chrome) or computer (desktop, laptop) or even my cell (on WiFi).It must be the router (DIR-825, HW-B1, FW-2.07NA) since I can connect to the web site fine if I connect straight to the modem. (Also, if I turn off WiFi on my cell, I can connect to their web site but once I turn WiFi back on, it wont connect).I tried restoring to factory settings but that didn't work.I tried some of the suggestions here: http:[url].....
- Turn off ALL QoS or Disable Traffic Shaping. Advanced/QoS.
- Turn off Advanced DNS Services if you have this option under Setup/Internet/Manual.
- Setup DHCP reserved IP addresses for all devices ON the router. Setup/Networking
- Ensure devices are set to auto obtain an IP address.
- Set Firewall settings to Endpoint Independent for TCP and UDP under Advanced/Firewall.
- Enable uPnP and Multi-cast Streaming under Advanced/Networking.

I can access the Internet from this client but cannot connect to this client from another branch through vpn tunnels. I can access all other clients that do not have this access-list entry.
View 5 Replies View RelatedIf I have the IP ACL firewall enabled in my RVS4000 I have trouble connecting to specific websites and also connecting to Apple's update servers. The problem appears to be that the firewall is blocking incoming data to the ephemeral ports even when they are allowed in the firewall rules. I've also tried port forwarding rules but the only thing that resolves the problem is to disable the firewall entirely, which is not the desired resolution. The firmware version is 2.0.27.

View 9 Replies View RelatedI use my WAP610N as access point (AP) in a network with a router.Firmware is up to date (1.0.0.4 build 7).After I connect my mobile phone the AP crashes after a few minutes. (The firmware of the mobile phone is also up to date.)Then it blocks the whole LAN until I disconnect the network cable from the AP. Then the rest of the network works just fine.Blocking means, that a computer connected to a lan port of the router can't ping anything nor has access to the internet anymore.I need to power off the WAP610N and after the restart it works again.
Also is there any way to debug or at least show some kind of log on the WAP610N? The web client seems to have no such features. Is there an additional URL with more commands? It seems that theres no telnet console either.
Im using d-link 855 router to block internet to certain machines, using access control within dlink and then in putting the ip for the right machines. But it seems the machines keep changing the IP adresses everything they boot thus getting internet access the next day.
View 14 Replies View RelatedWe have a group of computers on their own VLAN. A router allows internet access while keeping them sandboxed. We don't want them accidentally connect to our production network. We blocked their wireless MACs in unauthorized WAPs. I'd like to do the same thing for their ethernet MACs on our switches, (a mixture of 2950,2960 and 2960G currently testing on C2960-LANBASE-M, Version 12.2(25)SEE2). I've been unable to locate the correct method on google, by searching these boards or in the command reference.
What is the best practice for blocking a group of MACs from accessing a particular VLAN on a network consisting of several Layer 2 Switches?
Why the below configuration does not work? BGP exchanges routes without a problem all the time the distribute list is removed from the config. When I apply the distribute list it blocks all routes, not just those intended in the prefix list.

Like others I see on this board, we've got middle- and high-school age kids whose access to FB and other sites needs to be controlled/scheduled.
I thought the DIR-655 was great, in that it has features that, on the face of it, would seem to be ideal for blocking domains and restricting access.
My problem: I've never been able to get this to work.
I've set up schedules and created lists of domains that I want to limit access to according to the schedules, but the only constraint I've ever gotten to stick is blocking access completely to the router.
*None* of the schedule-based or website-based access controls have ever worked; I'll put the block in place to my daughter's computer's MAC address so she shouldn't be able to get to youtube or facebook, save, bounce the router, but then I go by her room and she's still busily chatting away online to her FB friends.
Based on similar posts I've seen on this forum, this may not be a unique problem.
So in a nutshell, this is what I want to do:
1) Block certain computers (identifiable by MAC address)
2) from being able to get to particular named domains (and any of their sub-domains)
3) according to a schedule that I can create and modify.
My preference would be to do this in the router, but again, responses I've seen here suggest that may not be possible.
I cannot connect to my company’s VPN after installing the current firmware (FW_E4200_1.0.02.013_US_20110524) on my E4200 router. Version 1.0.01 was on the router when I received it, and it worked without issues. As soon as I upgraded version 02, I could not initialize a VPN connection. When I try to start a VPN session, I get a "page not found" error when attempting to initiate SSL VPN service using a Microsoft Forefront Unified Access Gateway. VPN pass through is enabled for all protocols in the e4200’s setup. As soon as I revert to firmware 01, everything works fine again.
I did a fresh download and re-flashed the 02 firmware just to make sure that it wasn’t an issue with a bad download or a faulty flash. The problem is consistent and repeatable. I have upgraded and downgraded twice, and the results are exactly the same. My VPN connection works with firmware 01, and it fails with version 02. There is a something different in the 02 firmware that is blocking VPN access.
My company has a peer to peer network of 10 personal computers without a server. Operating systems from Windows XP to Vista. I've recently installed a Cisco RV120W Wireless-N VPN Firewall. It's configured in DHCP Server Mode with printers/copiers that have static IPs below the DHCP range.
I'm having a problem with certain stations being used for personal networking, shopping, etc. during business hours. Consequently I would like to limit internet access on these stations. However, some internet access is required because of online database software that's an integral part of our business. I've been reading in the Administration Guide about URL Blocking. Would it be possible to give static IPs to certain stations and then limit their internet access to 1 or 2 specific websites?
FYI, I've read about the Trusted Domains and Blocked Keywords but cannot quite understand how to parley this into the solution I need.
