Cisco Routers :: Get Configuration From Dead RV082?

Jul 13, 2012

I have an old RV082 that I suppose has failed. The red diag light on the front panel is lit and nothing works. I've already replaced the unit, so I don't really need to fix it. Here's my issue: the setup on the old unit was pretty complex with a number of port forwards and other non-default settings. I'd like to recreate those items on my new router, but they were never written down so I don't know what they were. I've tried to connect a computer to one of the LAN ports, but they're all dead. Is there any way to get at the configuration page?

Cisco Routers :: Elementary Configuration On Rv082

Aug 12, 2012

I am setting up a SBS 2011 Essentials sever using a rv082 router. I have a decent understanding of how everything is suppose to work, but execution has been sloppy. My aim is to set up a central storage location, back up services, remote access and VPN.  Yesterday I had set up dhcp and dns roles on the sever, configed port forwarding and firewall setting on the router, at that point I was just bouncing around everywhere trying to get stuff to work, clearly not the best way I know. Before I left I reinstalled sbs for a couple of reason, along with resetting the router to default.

Cisco Routers :: RV082 Ssl Port Forwarding Configuration

Nov 20, 2011

I have recently replaced an RV082 router that had failed with a new RV082. The previous router was set up to forward port 443 ssl requests to a server in the network. Worked flawlessly for years and that is why I replaced it with same model. The new router is also set up to forward port 443 ssl requests to the new server. The issue is that the router responds with its own certificate and does not forward the request to the server.

Cisco Routers :: RV082 Port Forwarding Or DMZ Configuration?

Apr 11, 2012

I have an RV082 V2 with and I am having trouble with getting my Sprint Airvana to connect properly to the mobile service.  I've read on the Sprint forums indicate putting the Airvana in the DMZ generally allows the device to work properly; however, none have the RV series routers for tips on how to do this appropriately.  This device used to work fine behind the RV082, but I reset it one day and it no longer works.
The Airvana is a femtocell/router device with a WAN port and 3 LAN ports.  If I connect the Airvana directly to my cable modem, I get the appropriate connection and can then make calls through the device instead of through the Sprint connection; I live in a basement unit and get crappy signal without the device.  This proves the device works and that my ISP is not blocking the ports.  Sprint indicates the device uses UDP 53, 67, 68, 500 and 4500.  Their support sucks and they insist I put the Airvana before my router.  I absolutely do not want to use the Airvana as the router.  There are almost no configuration options in the router interface and it needs to be rebooted somewhat regularly, which would drop internet access throughout the house for 10-15 minutes while it reboots and finally establishes an internet connection.
As soon as put the Airvana behind the RV082, I no longer get the appropriate connection.  I can, however, plug my computer into one of the LAN ports on the Airvana and connect to the internet in general.  I have the router assign a static IP to the Airvana, and tried forwarding the required UDP ports to the IP.  This did not fix the problem.
I can certainly troubleshoot the port forwarding issues, but I would also like to look into putting the device into the DMZ, if possible.  I've not worked much in this area, so I am unsure how to appropriately configure the router to allow this to happen.  Is it possible to have the Airvana in the router DMZ without having a public IP for the device itself?

Cisco Routers :: RV082 Dual WAN Configuration Required

Jun 12, 2012

RV082 configured for Dual WAN [Code]....

(2) identical DSL connections, configured as Static IP (not PPPoE) with modems in bridged mode. Static IP's are /25 subnet and same gateway  ** this may be a problem? Dual WAN set for Load Balance, network service detection is OFF
We have a 2003 terminal server running and successfully receiving connections through both WAN connections.  Depending on location, half the users are connecting to WAN1 IP and the other half to WAN2 IP.  We are getting sporadic disconnects of the remote users when they are idle for a couple minutes and automatic reconnection of the session takes over a minute.  If they close the (locked up) session and reconnect manually it will let them in right away.
Could the handling of the Dual-WAN be the culprit?   Could the same gateway for both WAN's create this issue upstream (out of my control)?I am going to move everyone to connecting through WAN1 and then change to Smart Link Backup and see if the issues persist.
Another thought is to use a secondary IP on the terminal server and use Protocol Binding to match "All traffic" for IP1 to WAN1 and IP2 to WAN2, which theoretically would stabilize the situation?

Cisco Routers :: RV220W - DHCPv6 Prefix Delegation - Editing Configuration File?

Jan 25, 2012

I am trying to configure this router to obtain an IPv6 address from my ISP who offers a dual stack IPv4/IPv6 DHCPv6 Prefix Delegation service.
I did a WAN packet capture to see the type of DHCPv6 packets the router sends to the ISP in order to obtain an IPv6 address and I saw that the router is sending DHCPv6 solicitation packets of type IA_NA i.e. for Identity Association for Non-temporary Address. However, most ISPs that offer a dual stack IP4/IPv6 service, they use DHCPv6 Prefix Delegation in which case the router is expected to send DHCPv6 solicitation packets of type IA_PD i.e. for Identity Association for Prefix Delegation.
I then downloaded its configuration file and saw the following:
dhcpv6c = {}
dhcpv6c[1] = {}
dhcpv6c[1]["renewTime"] = "3600"

So, the option for the DHCPv6 client to perform a prefixDelegation request is disabled. Does that mean that if I set this flag to "1" it is going to work? Well, I edited the configuration file and changed this flag but the router refuses to load it! It complains about the file being changed. How does it know that? Is it computing some type of checksum? How can I manually edit this flag and update the router's configuration?

Cisco WAN :: RV082 Dual Wan Terminal Server Configuration

I've a RV082 with 2 internet connections.The idea is to permit external connections to my server and if one Internet line falls, automatically switch to the other.
We have configured the router in Smart Link backup.We try to connect with WAN1 and WAN2 enabled and all works fine.
We try to connect with WAN1 disabled and automatically WAN2 is activated.The problem start here...if WAN1 is activated while there are connections using WAN2, these connections falls!
How I must configure the router to permit that active connections are not disconnected from WAN2 even when WAN1 connection come back?

Linksys Wired Router :: Rv082 - Two Ranges Of IPs For DMZ Configuration

Apr 28, 2013

we have a RV082 and have the DMZ option enable for a range of IPs within the same sub-net of WAN IP and this works great. I have another range of Public IPs from our ISP that is not in the same sub-net of the WAN IP and do not see a way on the RV082 to include this 2nd bank of Public IPs in the DMZ.
Our ISP internet feed plugs into the RV082 WAN port and we have a switch plugged into the DMZ port of the RV082 that is used to connect the public devices in the current DMZ. Both banks of Public IPs from our ISP come over via the ISP internet feed plugged into the WAN Port.
My question is, if I cannot configure a DMZ rule to allow this 2nd range of Public IPs to "travel" to the RV082 DMZ port, how I can do this without one-to-one NAT or port port forwarding? The device I am deploying needs to be at the border of our network (like in the DMZ) and have some ability to talk to a device on our LAN.

The device with IP will be connected directly to one of the LAN ports on the router.Will that work to route, trying to get to to the IP of just seems odd because the packets would hit the router then go back out through the LAN port.

Cisco Routers :: VPN Fail With RV082

Jan 14, 2013

I just set up a new Linksys/Cisco RV082 router with the intent to get VPN working from outside the building. I have gone through the setup and while everything looks good, I have not been able to connect yet. I have tried everything that I know how, and am now hoping to get the answer from some pros.
Here's my setup. We use Comcast Business class internet. The modem is plugged into WAN port 1 on the RV082. I'm using the router as a DHCP server, that is working fine. My local subnet is
Right now all I want is to be able to log in as a client using QuickVPN. I set up one user and a client to VPN tunnel using the router's config page. Here's the settings I have:
Tunnel Interface is setup on WAN1, checkbox is enabled.
Local Group Setup
Local Security Gatewaytpe: IP Only
Local Security Group Type: Subnet

It seems like something is blocking the connection, but seeing that I have tried this after disabling the firewall completely it doesn't make sense to me. I also went into the config page for the modem and set up the router as a DMZ. I have also tried connecting with the client built into Windows 7, but that doesn't work either, I just get "connection failed with error 619"
I have the port in QuickVPN set to auto, but have tried both 443 and 60443 with same results.
I ran a port scan at [URL] and it shows I have 3 ports open...80,443, and 1723

Cisco Routers :: VPN Not Working With RV082

Jan 24, 2012

I have a VPN tunnel from one RV082 to another, first router has IP range of and the second one has range of, the connection works fine, here is where the issue starts, I am at a PC in the network and I ping an IP in the other one e.g. and it pings fine, but when I try to RDP into it or do anything to it I get no response, is it a firewall issue? Is it a NAT issue? I am at a loss, now that IP i mentioned does have RDP enabled and working because it is being port fowarded in the router and I can access it through the public IP.
Also a workstation with a static IP I can ping it if im in the local network but if I am in the remote one I cannot at all.

Cisco WAN :: 2950 Switch Receive Configuration File From ISP?

Aug 28, 2012

At home I have a perfectly working test setup for more than 1 year now , but yesterday we had a power down for about 10 minutes in the whole area , after this power down nothing was working in my network any longer.
My Network is has follow :
ISP(Cable Modem) on FA23 from the CISCO 2950 SWITCH (24 Ports)
ROUTER (ON A STICK) on FA24 from the CISCO 2950 SWITCH
And the rest of the switch is FA1=VLAN 1; FA2=VLAN 2;FA10=VLAN 10
Our home network is connected to VLAN 10 with a IP Range of 192.168.10.x /24 After this power down , I was not able to look into the SWITCH via FA1 , the FIX IP in this switch was, the ONLY way to get access was via the consol port !!!What a suprice when I connected my consol to the PC , I can see ROUTER_F342 , my router config is called ROUTER1841 and my switch config name is /was called SW24.So it seems that after this Power Down , the router took or received a config from my provider ?!?
I have recovered the the file in the switch + the vlan.dat and now everithing works again.
How can I avoid that this switch receive again a wrong file , I have all the needed files on the products itself and I do not use a TFTP server.
I have atached some screen shot when my switch is starting up , and it seems that the switch receive a IP address from my ISP , I do not know why, in the config file I have given it a FIX IP ?!?So it seems that my ISP erase the config file and when the switch is empty ,the  swich look for :

Etc ....
Until it find something.
I have tried after a complete recovery to switch off the power again for 10 minutes (ISP MODEM + SWITCH + ROUTER) and I was not able to reproduce the fault.Can it be that due to this power failure in our area that some routers or switches send or broadcast this kind of things ?
