View 1 Replies View Relatedthe Xbox part was a windows thing. The router, modem, computer, and monitor, are all on one powerbar. I have used the used-to-be-wired computer (I needed the ethernet cord for something else, haven't gotten around to plugging it back in.) and the wireless laptop loses connection periodically. ALWAYS lose connection on bootup. and also when doing power consuming things. SO, I believe it is a lack of power being sent to the router. wired connections would use less, thats why they are still active, but I assume the wireless transmitter needs more energy in order to function properly. I haven't used the old computer in a awhile now, but I assume if I plug the router into another outlet/curcuit I the problem wouldnt occur. Might need someone wiht more knowledge to confirm this, but I'm fairly certain this was the cause.

View 7 Replies View Related wether the Cisco RV180 router model can be configured with a public IP address on the LAN interface? I'm planning to use it in the following setup:
Internet ------------- WAN port (public IP) RV180 LAN port(public IP)-------------- WAN(public IP) RV016 LAN (private IP)
Disabling gateway operational mode and switching to router should disable NAT and allow this setup but need to confirm if it works? I'm concerned if the web management interface actually allows a public IP to be set on the LAN side.
It appears we might have an issue with our RV082 (v4.2.1.02) dropping packets during the teardown of many TCP conversations. I have attached two packet captures of what I believe is the same conversation. One is from outside the router (Wireshark using an Ethernet Tap) and the other is from the client inside the router (SLES11SP2 running TCPDump). These are both very small captures 9 packets and 18 packets and I'm hoping it will identify the problem.
It appears that the RV082 is prematurely closing the natted port used to communicate with the host outside the network. The host sends a FIN, ACK packet, to which the client responds with an ACK, However, when the client then sends his FIN,ACK sequence, it never makes it outside the router. The client sends a total of 9 FIN,ACKs trying to contact the outside server, but none of those appear to make it through the router.
Is the router slamming the door prematurely? (I've been fighting with this problem for 3 weeks now!)

I have a Linksys WRV200 WiFi router and read the documentation about it's VPN capabilities.Now I was wondering whether it could be possible to use it as my personal VPN while traveling abroad, instead of subscribing to 3rd-party personal VPN services?The idea here is:
1- my WRV200 router is at home, linked to my cable ISP, running the VPN service.
2- I'm abroad with my iPhone or iPad or my laptop and want to use public WiFi services but through a VPN (encryption).

View 1 Replies View RelatedWe have 2 offices in different countries both using the RV082 router. Currently both offices have an internet connection on WAN1 and that is working fine. We are adding a Point to Point circuit between the two offices, and my question is on the RV082 configuration on each side.
I was going to configure WAN2 in DMZ mode on each router, then connect the point to point circuit to the WAN2 port. On the China side, the DMZ IP will have to be a private address (192.168.177.1), while the DMZ port on the San Diego side will be a public IP. We need internal computers to be able to go to the internet normally through WAN1, but also go through WAN2 if they are trying to reach the other network. I will be adding routes on each RV082 for this.
Is there anything wrong with this configuration? Do I need to change the routers from Gateway to Router mode? Does it matter if the DMZ WAN2 port has a private IP address?
Is there a way to mark BFD control packets in Cisco routers (such as ASR903) with high priority, so it gets treated with priority in swithcing network between two routers, in turn not suffers from packet loss and delay ?

View 6 Replies View RelatedAdvanced networking but have managed to get our small office IP PBX running over a SIP Trunk. The only real problem we are having is choppy outgoing audio when there is other heavy outgoing traffic on the network.
My understanding is that I need to set some QoS parameters, which I have played with but it didn't seem to be useful. I mostly dealt with allocating bandwidth. I now think I need to somehow prioritize the outgoing RTP packets from our PBX (which runs on a PC on our LAN) to avoid the choppy audio. My research shows this can maybe be done with something called DSCP 46 and my router does support that -- how to exactly set the configuration.

I have had a WRV200 wireless router running at the family office now for a several years now and recently I was made aware of an issue with the router. Previously it's function was to provide internet access for the laptops at the office and two workstations. It was a simple set up really, 1 SSID was for the work computers that were allowed on the internet and another SSID for personal and quest wireless devices and I made sure they were in seperate VLANs. This issue came into light after our office moved and with some new upgrades in networking equipment it was deemed safe enough to have the other computers on my wireless router.
What is happening is that all the computers will have a momentary drop of connectivity and will re-establish it's connection to the wireless router. I check the event viewer and it's the same thing accross the board. I'll have several DHCP warings specifically event ID 1003 and finally DHCP error 1000 almost 30 minutes after the first warning. From the looks of it there is something going on with the DHCP addresses about to expire and the systems are having issues trying to get it renewed. The error will happen then the computer will restore the connection.
I have it isolated to the WRV200 because of two reasons. Every machine is having this issue, it's not a random occurance on one computer. The big clue was when I checked Event viewer on my Marketing Director's laptop. These same errors were present all the way back to May which was before the office move and the router was provide access for our laptops to get online. There was no other networking equipment connected to it except for the Clearwire modem.
Between May and now the router has been reconfigured from scratch. New SSIDs, redid the internal IP addressing network wide to incorporate the new computers and would be easier to manage them that way. All wired devices go through a 16 port switch and then through port 1 on the router. Port 1 is on VLAN 1 and the others on VLAN 5. The 3 SSIDS are each on their own seperate VLANs. All systems are on DHCP and the important computers and the printers I am using Static DHCP. In the mean time I set all the important machines to use an alternate IP addressing scheme so hopefully there is no drop in conenctivity. While the drop is minor it could cause issues in the program called SLS (especially during printing) so I can not have this issue to continue. Configuration wise everything is defualt, is there something to change in the configuration settings that I may have missed twice now or the router simply near the end of it's life cycle.
Few systems on my LAN stops recieving packets but sending, this happened after i changed my switch, i run xp professional. i have tested cables, NICs,etc.

View 1 Replies View RelatedAfter flashing the latest version of the firmware for the WRV200 (1.0.39) all of the pages on the web based admin tool are not working, and some are missing alltogether.I need to be able to re-flash the firmware to an earlier version (or attempt to re-flash this version) without using the web-based admin tool, as the page for doing the flash is one of the one's that is missing. Re-setting it doesn't work. I have tried searching here and through Google without any luck so far. The WRV200 works fine, but obviously is not locked down from a security standpoint, which is a large problem.

For about a month now, the 5G does not show up. It doesn't show up as a network to select no matter what device I use. I have reset the router and updated the firmware. Both connection lights are blinking. I recently purchased and IPhone 4 and still I do not have the option of selecting 5G.

However I cant get it to connect to the router no matter what I do (i had it working for a few hours at one point but it dropped off again).I confirmed it wasnt the router but running a crossover cable from the laptop to my desktop, setting static ips on both. As such, I was looking for a way to transmit a wireless signal from my computer, and place an alternative form of security onto it (such as WEP), so that the 3DS can connect to it.

View 2 Replies View RelatedWe have a major poblem going on with our VPN router.We have a 7206vxr router which has an mGRE tunnel forming EIGRP neighbourship with about 800 remote locations using GRE over IPsec.
We have a problem where the EIGRP neighbourship keeps flapping intermittently and this happens to 30-40 locations at one time and very frequently.What I noticed was that the GRE tunnel transmit bandwidth was showing as 8 Mbps. I guess there is an option to change it.Will this 8 Mbps limit cause any issues of EIGRP neighbourship flaps and will increasing the bandwidth useful.
We are also seeing output drops on the tunnel interface.
