I have a client(C) and a server(S) nodes plus an intermediate node(I). Each node has a public IP. What I want to do is to transmit some data(whatever) from C to S but this data to go through I. So C ---> S will become C ----> I ----> S. I read something to create a tunnel(ip add tunnel) between C and I and add a route between them ? I tried different examples but did not work at all.

I recently bought a Nintendo 3DS but unfortunately my University's wireless security (WPA2 Enterprise) is incompatible with the system. As such, I was looking for a way to transmit a wireless signal from my computer, and place an alternative form of security onto it (such as WEP), so that the 3DS can connect to it.
At the moment, my desktop is connected via ethernet cable, which plugs directly into a wall socket. I'm pretty unsure as to what to use, I've heard of things such as 'wireless bridges', but I'm not sure how they work. Also, I'm looking for the device to transmit a signal even if my desktop isn't turned on. Is a router my only option?

I recently replaced my Linksys WRV54G with a Linksys e2000 where I stream H.264 vido in 480p from one computer connected over gigabit to my Media Center running on Windows 7 64 bit connected at 10/100.
Before the router change, I was able to playback video over the network with no problems. If I connect the Linksys WRV54G again, the issue goes away. The Linksys WRV54G does not have gigabit and I have read related issues of video stuttering over gigabit.

I will be doing a site survey using the client's Cisco 1262 with only 1 radio (g/n), 3 antennas. What is the maximum transmit power, 20dBm or 23dBm? I need to set the transmit power in the Airmagnet to 50% or 3dBm down as recommended by Cisco.

the Xbox part was a windows thing. The router, modem, computer, and monitor, are all on one powerbar. I have used the used-to-be-wired computer (I needed the ethernet cord for something else, haven't gotten around to plugging it back in.) and the wireless laptop loses connection periodically. ALWAYS lose connection on bootup. and also when doing power consuming things. SO, I believe it is a lack of power being sent to the router. wired connections would use less, thats why they are still active, but I assume the wireless transmitter needs more energy in order to function properly. I haven't used the old computer in a awhile now, but I assume if I plug the router into another outlet/curcuit I the problem wouldnt occur. Might need someone wiht more knowledge to confirm this, but I'm fairly certain this was the cause.

-capture and synchronize video and audio
-compress the captured data
-transport the compressed data using suitable protocols
-decompress the received data at the other end
-and finally playing it over the LAN.
So, which protocols should I use: H.323 or RTSP or anything else?Which are the best suitable APIs for the above steps?

I have an AP1242 near a couple of conference rooms. I get complaints when we have a large contingent in there and some try to download documents. The bandwidth consumption is meage - less than 2Mbps. But there could be say 50 people in those training rooms. I see no errors at the FE interface on the AP but I do see a good number of Transmit Discards.
Are 50 users connected to an AP1242 simply more than should be expected of the device? 802.11g is the radio.
Are transmit discards indicative of some kind of configuration problem? The users in these cases are generally very close to the access point - within a few feet even.
If it is indicative of a configuration problem would that be an issue of the configuration of the laptop wifi cards or a problem at the AP?

I recently bought 3 DCS-920 to monitor my home while at the office. However I can't seem to get the damned things to stream video using the dyndns service. I linked my router to the dyndns account and host service. I portforward the ports my cameras are assigned. Up to this point its all good, I can access the cameras and their settings pages while outside. However both the Java and ActiveX options for video streaming do not work. Even within the network, using their raw IPs to view the cameras the videos stream works. But putting in the hostname and port they are assigned brings up the camera page, but no video.I can only assume the ports the video and audio run on are seperate, as when I put one camera's IP in the DMZ host on my router, it works with the DNS. Unforunately I can only do that with 1, and I'd rather not do that at all.

looking to pick a good managed gigabit switch for my central media server implementation.I will have probably 10-12 tvs connected to this along with other things like ip pbx extensions, music streamers, ip cameras etc.Now I can imagine about 2-3 tvs simultaneously streaming HD quality movies. In that case, I am assuming I will need a minimum 150-200mbps throughput switch. Is my assumption wrong?I have been looking at some switches which seem nice and relatively inexpensive but the throughput is much lower than that.If I wouldnt need that kind of throughput then can you explain me how do I come up with my max limit.I initially thought that since its going to be a gigabit switch it would be able to handle that kind of traffic through all its port at once, but I guess thats not a correct assumption. Throughput is what reall dictates simultaneous maximum? Am I correct?

I am currently wirelessly streaming BR rip movies from my PC tower to a PS3. I have a gigabit connection from the PC to the router (D-Link DIR-825) which is broadcasting (5Ghz 'N') to a D-Link DAP-1522 bridge. Gigabit connection from the bridge to the PS3. The router is reporting a 70-75% connection with 240mbps, although I am realistic and don't expect that. I had been ripping and compressing my BR movies to 4-8GB. I had never noticed any trouble with these because my network can easily handle the additional traffic if it had been doubling or tripling these. I recently purchased a 2TB HDD and decided to just rip and not compress a few of my favorites. So now instead of a 3-10Mbps stream I have 15-45Mbps streams. I am ripping them straight to an .m2ts container (AVC/AC3) when the original video codec is AVC and converting to .mp4 (AVC/AAC) with Ripbot if the original codec is VC-1. Neither container makes a difference.
What's happening is that when I stream these uncompressed BRs, the picture and audio stutter and jump (indicating a bit-starved network connection). When I check the bitrate reported by the PS3, it is showing 80-150Mbps. I have run these video files through Bitrate Viewer just to be sure, and they are all running at normal bitrates, i.e. <50Mbps. Somewhere along the line, my network is doubling or tripling the stream. I have used both Mezzmo and TVersity as my DLNA servers with the transcoding turned off. The files playback fine at the expected bitrates on the PC with VLC Media Player.
Also, the problem is not with the wireless bridge. I was linked with a Linksys WET610N, while working on this problem, I attempted to update the firmware and bricked it. If anyone needs a DOA WET610N, they can have it for the cost of shipping. The DAP-1522 is getting a better signal and reporting a higher bitrate ceiling than the Linksys was.Is there a PC or router setting that could be causing this? I have even done a reset to restore the factory defaults on my router, but it hasn't made a difference.

However I cant get it to connect to the router no matter what I do (i had it working for a few hours at one point but it dropped off again).I confirmed it wasnt the router but running a crossover cable from the laptop to my desktop, setting static ips on both. Now I can ping the laptop from my desktop but for some reason I cannot ping the desktop from the lappy. I've tried everything I can think of but no dice.

I had a requirement where I have to send the internet connection over 100m.As Ethernet supports clear transmission only upto 100m, I came up with this new idea (only in papers untill now). I believe RJ11 cables (normal telephone line) would be able to carry signals over longer distance as in ADSL broadband. plug the Ethernet cable which is already connected to internet source into ADSL modem. This ADSL modem will be connected to another ADSL modem which is at a longer distance away(let us say more than 100m or so.) The output of the latter ADSL modem will be connected to a computer/router which requires an internet connection.

We have a major poblem going on with our VPN router. We have a 7206vxr router which has an mGRE tunnel forming EIGRP neighbourship with about 800 remote locations using GRE over IPsec.
We have a problem where the EIGRP neighbourship keeps flapping intermittently and this happens to 30-40 locations at one time and very frequently. What I noticed was that the GRE tunnel transmit bandwidth was showing as 8 Mbps. I guess there is an option to change it.Will this 8 Mbps limit cause any issues of EIGRP neighbourship flaps and will increasing the bandwidth useful.
We are also seeing output drops on the tunnel interface.

I upgraded my 3602i survey ap the other day to the public image the other day and I have to say.. I've got it up and going of course, but I have a concern on the transmit power settings. Originally, the only option it gave me was MAX and -4, which I hadn't seen before, interesting.. -4 of what? 20? 17 probably or I though? At any rate, I went into the CLI to set the power manually, no issues there, though my options are not what I expected, maxing out at 25mw basically, which is fine but.. in setting it manually in CLI, the web interface reports an Error on transmit power. So.. does this work or not? Any survey with this image to verify it's power settings? 15.2(23c)

Which transmit hash policies are supported by the SLM2008? I can't find this information in any of the documentation for this switch, all that is stated is that it supports Link Aggregation using IEEE 802.3ad LACP. I'm connecting to a Netgear ReadyNAS Pro that supports Layer 2 and Layer 3+4 transmit hash policies and I'm not sure which to choose (or whether it matters).

We have a Cisco 6513 Switch. During some parts of the day it is having large amounts of transmit discards on a certain interface because of the amount of data we are pushing. We have determined it is a link problem and not a problem with the switch. The link cannot handle the amount of packets the switch is pushing out. I was wondering if there is a way to create a buffer or a way to regulate the maximum amount of packets that can leave that interface without losing any packets?

After opening up Solarwinds NPM, I noticed that a few of my interfaces had lots of discards (who knows how long it's been sets the counters were reset)
interface GigabitEthernet1/0/25description Etherchannel to MamaCassswitchport trunk encapsulation dot1qswitchport mode trunkswitchport nonegotiatepriority-queue outchannel-group 4 mode on
interface GigabitEthernet2/0/25description Etherchannel to MamaCassswitchport trunk encapsulation dot1qswitchport mode trunkswitchport nonegotiatepriority-queue outchannel-group 4 mode on
interface Port-channel4switchport trunk encapsulation dot1qswitchport mode trunkswitchport nonegotiate,It looks as if priority-queue was configured outbound on these interfaces, could this be the cause of the transmit discards which are now up to 79,835, I just reset the counters on the interfaces a little while ago.
I'm not the best in the world when it comes to QoS, we do have some VoIP phones, but they are only a specific network, and do not travel outside, since there are used mainly for VoIP training. I do know both interfaces are running the default of FIFO.

The CISCO SFP 10G-LR module data sheet shows two values for the transmit power one of which is maximum power .5dBm and another is minimum power -8.2 dBm. Which value should I choose for the link budgeting.
