Oct 24, 2011We're having some numbers ported over to us and we'd like to verify that we are in fact receiving all of the numbers at our SIP gateway. Since we have been getting more and more activity on this router, I'm becoming more concerned about using certain debug's for fear that the router maxes out CPU and drops.
What the best debug command would give me this information with minimal impact on CPU? In the past I've used 'debug ccapi inout' and a couple of others similar to that. With so much activity though sometimes it bombs the router. Also I am logging to the console directly, maybe there is a better method with less CPU impact. I just don't want to have to go back and forth to look for stuff 50 times either if I write out to a file or something, it could work though I suppose.

Oct 16, 2011We just purchased 8 managed switches POE to swap out our existing in preparation for our new phone system. We installed them all after configuring with static IP. Deployed... and all but two work fine. Any tips for troubleshooting why two of them do not work? There are a couple other switches in the building. Could it be that a switch "upstream" from the two non-functioning switches is causing an issue? If so, how do I find out? When we put back the two "dumb" switches all was fine.

When I set on switch :
dhcp relay : enable
option 82 : enable
dhcp server address: ip of dhcp
When debug packets from client to server, there is no 82 option in dhcp discover packets. I mirror all traffic to mirror port with wireshark. I can see dhcp packets but without option 82.

Jun 2, 2013I want to configure my SRW248G4 switch thru console port. Unfortunately in this switch there is no RJ45 console port input, I can only see cosole port that is look like RS232 input. I bought two standard cisco console cables that have one end with db9 and one with RJ45.
Now I have and idea to put one end of one cable (db9) to switch, and one end (db9) of second cable in my computer (COM input/output)
I need to connect two RJ45 together - this is not a problem, I know how to do this. Here is the question :I know how pinout in my computer look like but i can't find pinout of console port in my SRW248G4. There is many pictures in Internet, for many Cisco devices but this isn't working. Maybe in LINKSYS pinout look different ?

Nov 16, 2011We have recently purchased SG 300-52Port Cisco Switch to support our Network but they constantly having some bizarre issues or I assume bugs, i.e. we cannot Telnet nor SSH to the switch now, whereas we were able to SSH before, we have set them up for Remote Log Services to get some syslogs and reports but no report have been generated nor logs,
I have done some testing through Wireshark and there are absolutely no reports / logs.We have some real issues with this switch and it’s hard to believe that this is a Cisco Product,

Jun 2, 2012I am trying get inter vlan routing to work on a DF 300 - 24 port switch. I have an existing company network on 192.168.111.0 and want to create a vlan on 192.168.1.1 that can talk to 192.168.111.0. I have enabled layer 3 routing on the switch via console and also provided the ip routing command. I have the following VLAN's:
VLAN1 - Default 192.168.111.0
VLAN2 - 192.168.1.0
I have enabled DNS and provided my two DNS servers 192.168.111.82 & 192.168.111.212. I have set the VLAN1 interface to 192.168.111.217 and VLAN2 interface to 192.168.1.1.
Ports FE1 - FE15 are set to access ports and assigned to VLAN1 (untagged)
Ports FE16 - FE24 are set to access ports and assigned to VLAN2 (untagged)
I have set a default route for the switch to 0.0.0.0 0.0.0.0 192.168.111.254 (Draytek 2600 router). I have connected a computer (A) to VLAN1 port FE3 and a computer (B) to VLAN2 port FE16. I have set Computer A default gateway to 192.168.111.217 and its IP address to 192.168.111.94. I have set Computer B default gateway to 192.168.1.1 and IP to 192.168.1.2.
Computer A has access to Mdaemon, file server via network drives but no internet (cannot ping google) and can ping computer B and RDP onto computer B.
Computer B can ping computer A and RDP onto computer A but does not have access to the company network i.e MDaemon, file server etc. It also cannot access the internet.
From the console I can ping [URL]and all ip addresses in the company network i.e. 192.168.111.82 (DNS server). If I scan computer A wirh wireshark the internet starts working weird!

I have simple DHCP WAN connection between my provider and the router, my computer connects to router by wire (only Cisco SG 100D-08 stands between them). When I can't access sites I can access my router and the router needs much more time to answer to me via http. I don't use any vlans or internet access to my computer or router.

Sep 17, 2011I'm planning to separate voice and data traffic with two vlans. I have a COR switch catalyst 3750, a UC560 for VOIP with SIP trunk and SGE2000P as access switches. The thing is i had configured VLAN1 (data vlan) and VLAN8 (voice vlan), i've created the vlan 8 in the database on 3750 and let pass those vlans through a TRUNK port. In the SGE2000P configuration i've created the VLAN8 and the the ports as trunk for letting pass the two vlans for the PC and the IP phone. This works but some phones aren't registering, and for example i've unplugged a register phone and plug and doesn't registering anymore.

I really don’t get the particulars of using a Voice VLAN vs. Smartport, but is one better than the other for this and what would be some good default settings to start with. I have command line and VLAN experience; I just haven’t set up a VLAN for voice from scratch.

Apr 12, 2012I'm struggling with a configuration issue on the Cisco SG200-08P. We are using the Cisco SG200-08P on a mobile cart that will go from class room to class room that will have computer and cisco Voip phone plugged into it. The issue is that each of our closets are in differnt VLANS ( 1 voice and 1 data....lets say data vlan 20 and voice vlan 2025 for conversation) and that we route to each closet.It would be great if I could just create a generic data and voice vlan to dynamically pick up what the upstream switch has however, it seems that I've been unsuccessful in doing so. I can pass the data Vlan no probablem. The upstream switch port is set to access port and a switch port access voice vlan (these are 3750x switches) If the above is not possible I guess I will take what I can get. Should I just create data vlan 20 and voice vlan2025 on the Cisco SG200-08P and make a trunk port on the Cisco SG200-08P and a trunk on the 3750x? Is there an option on the Cisco SG200-08P to tag voice traffic?I'm also concerned with VTP and I did not see an area in the Cisco SG200-08P to set that as a client and transparent mode.

L3 vlans are created in core switches which is cisco 6509
vlan 1 - data vlan
vlan 2 - voice vlan
in cisco 3524

if i use the above configs, the phone which is connected to interface fa0/1 is not taking ip from dhcp server. even it didn't work with static configs.while troubelshooting, i have configured as below and it's started working..

duplex full.
in this case i can't use this port for data connectivity where as it's required for data too.

Nov 7, 2011At our office we use seven Cisco 300 Series Small Business Switches. One main switch in the server room and one in each room. They work great! But I’m having difficulties getting the Auto Voice VLAN to work correctly. In fact, it seems to works straight away on a PoE model, but not on the non-PoE models.
Switch (main server room):

All these switches use firmware v1.1.1.8. The switches in each room are connected to the central switch by Link Aggregation. The main switch is configured in Layer 3 mode and all the others in Layer 2 mode. We have a lot of VLAN’s configured. For this problem allow me to describe only the two that are relevant.
VLAN 102 - Internal Network (Clients)VLAN 104 - Internal Network (Voice) The switches on each room are mainly used for clients, printers and IP phones. The clients and printers should operate in VLAN 102. The IP phones should operate in VLAN 104. For this to work I have the 10 port switches configured as following.
GE1 – Trunk – 102U;104TGE2 – Trunk – 102U;104TGE3 – Trunk – 102U;104TGE4 – Trunk – 102U;104TGE5 – Trunk – 102U;104TGE6 – Trunk – 102U;104TGE7 – Trunk – 102U;104TGE8 – Trunk – 102U;104TGE9 – Trunk – 1P (LAG 1, with 1U;102T;104T)GE10 – Trunk – 1P (LAG 1, with 1U;102T;104T)
The network is fully routable. A DHCP Server is available. Each VLAN uses DHCP relaying. If we statically assign a VLAN to a port, that just works fine. Auto Voice VLAN is enabled with VLAN ID 104. All switches are configured the same. But this is what occurs…
When I connect an IP phone on the SG300-10P the IP phones are assigned to the Voice VLAN ID 104. If I would connect a desktop to that same port it is assigned to VLAN ID 102. Exactly as it should.But when I connect an IP phone on a SG300-10 the IP it is assigned to VLAN ID 102. But I also noticed that in some cases they are assigned to VLAN ID 1 and don’t get an IP Address. That depends in which order I change settings. The port its VLAN membership is then even changed to 1P. Although the port is recognized as an “IP Phone” by the smartport feature. I have noticed it does make difference if I modify the smartport macro and change the native_vlan paramater from "1" to "let's" say "102". That seems to affect it. Of course it may be just coincidence. What am I doing wrong? How should it work?How should you actually configure each port on a switch? (trunk?, Tagged/Untagged VLAN?)If you do not use Telephony OUI. Do you still need to configure the macros on the smartport defenitions?
I have tried about everything. I have also tried Telephony OUI, but it doesn't make any difference. I just can't get it to work properly on the non-PoE switch.
