Cisco Switching/Routing :: SRW224g4p Making Loud Noise - How To Open It Up
May 4, 2012Are there any manuals on how to open the srw224g4p switch? I can't find anything the switch is making a lot of noise - sound like the fan.

View 2 RepliesI installed a wireless adapter on my pc and since then when I play a game online or watch something online there will be times when the sound will be weird and noisy for a slight second along with the slowed visual. Also I noticed that it awakes the wireless printer from sleep mode. Could it the wireless adapter be interfering with the wireless printer? I tried to adjust wireless antenna but it didn't do anything.
View 2 Replies View RelatedWe have about 30 SRW224G4P switches throughout our network(each one located at remote site) and we have been having problems with these locking up. Normal symptoms are; I can ping the switch but cannot get to the login promot via telnet, ssh, or web-gui even though the ports are open. And how to plugged into the switch after this happens canont reach my router for DHCP.
I did a firmware upgrade to "SRW224G4P_SRW248G4P_image.bix" on one of the switches at our office and this seemed to fix the problems however after the upgrade was compete the config was blank. Is that suppose to happen or did I miss something? I would like to upgrade the firmware on all my our SRW224G4P switches without having to travel to each remote location and reconfigure each switch after the upgrade.
I have a SRW224G4P managed switch with webview, however I do not know what the IP address is of the unit to attempt to access via webview. I've tried to connect a serial cable to the console port and use HyperTerminal to access the switch, however the switch boots up and I never see anything in hyperterminal! I'm using the recommended port settings for the device. What else can I do to be able to set my IP address? Is there a hard physical reset that I can do on this unit somewhere since I can't seem to get the console mode to work?
View 0 Replies View RelatedMaybe this was listed in the release notes for the product and I missed it, but can this item support Etherchannel in a 2801 router? I installed the module into the router and the router recognizes the module. I can configure the ports as access or trunk ports, but I am unable to configure the channel-protocol or the channel-group for the Etherchannel. The IOS on the router is 15.1 M with the upgraded Bootloader version 12.3.
View 1 Replies View RelatedWe are deploying a new office in the building next to our main office. The main office has a Cisco ASA 5510 behind that is a Cisco 3750 stack. In the new office we are deploying a new Cisco 3750, they will be connected via fiber cable. I have sliced off VLAN 800 as a transit link /30 with an address space of 10.249.249.1-4. The new 3750 only has two VLAN's 800 and 112 (10.112.0.0/24). VLAN 112 routes are advertised to the neighboring 3750 properly as seen in the routing tables of the 3750 stack:
D 10.112.0.0/24 [90/3072] via 10.249.249.2, 00:22:24, Vlan800
Traffic passes between all local VLANS with no issue. I found in order to get packets to pass between the ASA and the new 3750 I had to add a static route to the ASA:
S 10.112.0.0 255.255.255.0 [1/0] via 10.100.0.1, inside
My question is why is EIGRP not advertising the 10.112.0.0 network to the ASA. Here are EIGRP configs on the switches
Existing 3750 Stack
router eigrp 100
network 10.0.0.0

I currently have Cisco 3750G which is currently live and active and fully populated and only have remote access.
I have an additional same switch which I would like to stack. My initial plans were to have 2 GIbit etherchannels, but I came across the option to Stacks both switch with each other.
When I do a show switch on the live switch its set as a Member: [code]
I would like to add the new switch to the stack without losing the config for the switch which is live. I understand that the highest priority of the switches becomes the Master but as the live switch is Priority 1, would chancing this affect the switches config, or would it lose connection at all?
Also when I plug in the new switch and it reboot how do I ensure it becomes the slave without rebooting the live switch? The cables on the switch do they have to go to port1 on the live switch and port 1 on the new switch or can they be port 1 and port 2?
I have just replaced my 54Mbps Wireless-G router (Sky Broadband/Netgear - black, looks like a SkyHD box) with a 300Mbps Wireless-N TP-Link TD-W8960N router, I have also upgraded the the standard 3dBi antennas with a pair of TP-Link ANT2408CL 8dBi high-gain anetnnas.
However when using various WiFi analysis apps I'm getting a signal strength averaging -35dBm and noise of -96dBm when in the same room as the router. But the main bit confusing me is that this is in ALL configurations - with my old Wireless-G router, with the new Wireless-N w/ 3dBi antennas, and with the new Wireless-N w/ 8dBi antennas.
Am I misunderstanding the signal/noise thing or is this Wireless-N router not giving me a better signal at all? I plan on installing an identical setup in a property with patchy Wireless-G coverage next week and I was hoping this exact kit would be the solution.I have tested with two laptops and I am getting 130Mbps link with both, but I understand this is typical of laptop hardware. I don't have any devices with a certified 300Mbps card installed to test with.
I'm having some serious sound problem with some 2950 Cisco switches that I have in my CCNA lab these switches sound like a jet I've gone in and made sure the fans are clean and I even replaced one they still are too loud. So I have a few options I can run them without a fan which I really don't want to do but I want to look at two other options. The first option would be to put a heat sink on the chip that's producing heat I also thought about cutting a whole in the top and mounting a 120mm fan.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI have a number of 3560CG-8PC-S switches. My intention for them is to act as kind of gateway L3 switches - one for each satellite site. My thinking was simply to have an L3 device at the gateway to each of those sites so that any inter-vlan traffic within each site can stay within the site rather than having to traverse the relatively slow radio links to get back to the 3750X stack in the core. They are also, however, going to be directly serving client devices
My issue is that for some reason, when connecting a new device (laptop etc) to one of the access ports on the 3560's, the port behaves as if it's being blocked. No DHCP addresses go through, the indicator remains orange, and the clients have no connectivity. However, if I wipe the config, I get a VLAN 1 IP address for my client no problems at all. And to make matters more confusing, only two out of my four 3560's are doing this. The other two have exactly the same config, but work perfectly. To that end, I'm loading the config below. I've followed that by the show running-config output, and show ip interface brief outputs.
configure terminal
hostname ASW34
!
enable secret *RuT1l3&
service password-encryption
username xxxx password xxxx

On my SG300 I set up LAG for the last two ports.
I then plugged them into my SRW224G4P, once I do that I get dropped packets.
I was thinking maybe doing firmware upgrades to both switches?
I have a question on 300 series PoE switch (SRW224G4P, power budget: 180W). How many WAP 4410N can be powered by this switch??How many AP 1242 can be powered by this switch? Since CDP is not supported yet, I think switch will provide 15.4W power for each AP. So each switch can power up to 11 WAP4410N or AP 1242. Is this correct??
One other quesiton is When CDP is supported, can I calculate as below? WAP4410N (Power draw:10.1W): 180/10.1W = 17.xx -> Up to 17 WAP4410N can be powerd AP1242 (Power draw:12.4W): 180/12.4W = 14.xx -> Up to 14 WAP4410N can be powerd

I have a Cisco ASA 5505 with a fairly simple set up. Few VPN tunnels and only 3 open ports for applications. I have entered the following lines static (inside, outside) tcp interface 9002 10.0.3.230 9002 netmask 255.255.255.255 access-list outside_access_in extended permit tcp any interface outside eq 9002.I have done this before with zero issues. The other two ports are open, however, port 9002 will not be visable from the outside. The ASA says it is open, but if I go to a site like canyouseeme, it shows closed. I cannot connect to the application either.

View 5 Replies View RelatedI work at a hospital and one of our department uses specialized software created by Varian Medical Systems. It has been brought to my attention that one of those applications has trouble opening during the day. I had the users demonstrate the issue and from what they explained to they are supposed to be able to open the application, log in, and be presented with a list of radiology images to choose from. Unfortunately, during the day this fails often and they have to try 3 or 4 times before it actually works. It behaves differently after 4 pm, and seems to work after the 1st or 2nd time at that time of the day. According to what I've been told this has been an issue as long as they can remember.
Varian has told me that they have done a number of things on their side to rule out their software and they think it is a network issue. We used Solar winds Engineer's Tool set (specifically the Network Performance Monitor) to monitor their switch and it is reporting no errors and the utilization graphs show that the ports involved have very little utilization. The most heavily utilized port is hovering between 10 and 5 person (Fa0/40). I've included a network diagram, but basically we have 1 10/100 Cisco 3350 switch (c3550-ipservices-mz.122-25.SEB4.bin), 4 clients, and 2 servers involved. They all are connected to the same switch at A-Full/A-100mbps. Although the Network Performance Monitor doesn't show any errors or over utilizaton of the ports in the the CLI I do see 35 output buffer failures and 35 under runs on the port connected to one of the servers (Fa0/40). They were a little higher and I cleared them about two weeks ago and then rebooted the switch, because I found that it could alleviate these types of errors.
They say the software use ports 5000, 55000, 55010, and 55020. We tried a packet capture, but I didn't have enough experience/knowledge to get anything useful out of it. I also checked the event logs on the clients and servers and nothing there indicates a issue in the software. They want us to replace the switch with a gigabit switch, but we have a REALLY limited budget and I would rather not if it isn't necessary. What I could try in order to rule out the network?
The switch functions and operates fine but I can no longer login to the webview(GUI) and when I use a serial cable to console in to it, it shows nothing on the hyperterminal meaning no login. How can I get back into the switch to manage it or reset it back to factory settings? I kept the default IP address and I enabled HTTPS to login by gui, well I got in by HTTPS so I went in to turn that setting off and hit apply and now I can't log into it at all.

I just purchased a Netgear router and installed it like it said on the directions. I have internet through Time Warner Cable. I did have a crappy phone before I got the router and it made a popping noise on it too, but I got a new phone and it was fine. But after I installed the router the phone makes a popping/clicking noise and it will also disconnect the wi-fi signal and I have to restart the router.

View 5 Replies View RelatedSo this problem seemed to come out of nowhere, I have no idea why it started. Basically, when I use my internet, eg: opening link, loading video or downloading randomly my speakers make a grinding noise and until the noise stops (can be 1-10 seconds) my internet drops (the internet icon on the bottom right shows it is still connected but nothing loads until the noise stops. Even then, the noise can drop in and out like 10 times in a minute and is constantly messing up the internet.
my speakers are Logitech (doubt that makes much difference as I doubt the problem is linked to them and my LAN card is some Ralink thing, nothing special. Here is a low volume recording of the noise, turn up your speakers to hear it well.
This has been driving me absolutely crazy but I am glad to have found the source of it. Over the past 4-5 weeks ever since i built my new computer, my computer has always had this wierd high pitch noise. I dont know if its coil whine or not, but the sound signature is def not the same as the coil whine that comes from my 7970 card. It sounds more digital.
What could be the cause of this? And what would the remedy be? My ethernet cable is approx 60 ft so it will be a pain in the ass to replace. Or buy another NIC?
edit: forgot to mention....the noise is constant. Not intermittent with usage. No amount of load or idle on the network changes the noise.
I have the port numbers but do not know how to proceed from there. Router is a WRT160N V2.
