If i replace a card of the same type in the same slot will I lose the configuration for that card or does it live in the backplane of the device?Is there any special command I need to run to replace the card or can i shutdown the 4507r-e and just swap out the blade?

I have a Cisco Catalyst 4507R+E (with Sup7-E) and two blades; one WS-X4748-RJ45V+E and one WS-X4648-RJ45-E.
When I connect a device to a port on the WS-X4748-RJ45V+E blade the port will not come up, show interface shows the status as "notconnect". When I connect the same device to the WS-X4648-RJ45-E blade the interface comes up.
The WS-X4748-RJ45V+E blade seems to have initialised okay, it appears in the output of "show module" as OK.
I get exactly the same effect on a second, identically configured Catalyst 4507R+E.
The software version is IOS XE 3.1.0SG, which according to the release notes supports the WS-X4748-RJ45V+E blade
I'm adding another module, WS-X6724-SFP, to our C6506E core switches. I read that it is hot swappable.
View 1 Replies View RelatedHad a switch die over the weekend, a c3560, per our normal procedure I pulled the hardware put a very basic config on it(vlans, portchannel, uplink ports, ip of management vlan, con and vty security, snmp, enable secret, and hostname). Then I use solarwinds orion to upload a copy of the old config to bring the switch back to the same state as the one that failed. Its a system that has worked for us 3 or 4 times in the past. But this time when the base config was on the box it couldnt ping across the network.I have tried clearing the arp cache and the dynamic mac tables, i verified the routing tables and even removed the 10.1.185.128/27 route and re-added it, saw the routing update go across to the other 65k, tried bouncing the edge switch(i cant bounce the 65k's), took down the po between the edge and 65k.

View 2 Replies View RelatedWe have 12 Catalyst Blade Switches 3020 for HP running IOS Version 12.2(55)SE. In the configuration of these switches I see the statement shown below.
no spanning-tree vlan 34,45-55,70,600,643,840,843-850
The 12 blade switches are configured as VTP clients and running VTP V2. I did not configure the statement shown above. It appered by itself. And even if I delete it, it will reapper. (The blade switches are interconnected to two 6509s. The two 6509s are the STP root and VTP bridges. I configure Vlans and STP on the 6509s).
why the statement above appers on the blade switches 3020s?
I mean I use other Cisco switches such as 3750s and 3560s and I have never seen the statement above appear by itself.
Im having problems changing a connection between a Cisco3560 and Cisco IBM Blade switch 3012 actually the configuration is access in Cisco 3560 and trunk int Cisco 3012 when i change the connection to trunk i lose conecctivity to the servers connected in the 3012, i have changed the access from vlan 1 to the respective vlan in the access port of the servers

our sup is a WS-SUP720-3B
we are experiencing packet loss for everything connected in the WS-X6748-GE-TX blade, right now we dont have any production device in that blade due to the packet loss we are experiencing.
this switch was running hybrid before it is now running native ios, however I can't recall if we didn't have that packet loss before. do i need to update a firmware of the card or daughtercard (if this is possible, can't say i've done it before).
i have one of my switch modules that shows PwrDown when i issue the command show mod.

i tried disabling the diagnostic monitor for the module, did a power enable module command and then reset it but it still fails. this is the third blade that i am replacing in a few weeks and i still get the same error. i am persuded that it is not a hardware since it is the third blade in a matter of weeks. after the module reset, i receive this error % module 3 is operationally off (FRU-power failed)
could an ios upgrade solve this issue? are there any ios related bugs?

I'm experiencing strange issue with my WS-C3750X-48T-S.
Model number: WS-C3750X-48T-S
System image file is "flash:/c3750e-universalk9-mz.122-55.SE3/c3750e-universalk9-mz.122-55.SE3.bin"
This switch is situated on a remote site and on the 6th of January it was rebooted.
I still do not know the cause, but it might be power outage or smth. We are still checking. After the reboot I've noticed that one port on this cisco switch is in 'notconnect' state, while I'm pretty sure it should be 'connected'.
I've tried to shutdown the port adminstratevly and do the 'no shutdown' but this port remained in 'disable' state.

The documentation states that there should be a command "switch 1 stack port 1 disable" but the switch (running 15.0(2)SE2) doesn't seem to be available. Is this a dcumentation bug or is the command not there at all?

I was told I could just get any DB9- to- USB cable and that would work. I did buy a DB9-to-USB cable and it did not work. I looked up the installation guide for this module and it just said the console cable is DB9-to-USB but with no part number.

a switch port is shutdown, but when i use NO SHUTDOWN command it is working and shows administratively down. like this command does not affect on it. i should enable this port? what can i do btw, port is not in errdisable and portfast is enabled.

When I try to configure it on a port that is in a channel group, I get the error "AutoQoS Error: AutoQoS can not be configured on member port(s) of a port-channel". I have also tried configuring it on the channel interface, but it is not an available command under the channel interface. Is there a way to do auto qos on the channel interfaces or their member ports or does it have to be configured manually?

I have just updated a VLAN interface on my router. I have two 6500's with GLBP configured. The particular interface had a primary and secondary IP address. I shutdown the interface on one router and deleted the secondary address then assigned the orignal secondary address to be the be the only address associated with the interface and enabled the interface and it came right back up...all looks good. I proceeded to do the same thing to the other router and once again all looked good. Now, I am able to PING the devices in the subnet from router, but am unable to ping them from any place else. I received an replacement supervisor from Cisco to swap out the failed standby supervisor. I wanted to check if I can pull out the failed supervisor supervisor and insert the replacement supervisor while the switch is still on. In other words, is it hot swappable? Also, will this operation cause interruption of switching inside the 4507R switch?
