Mar 20, 2013I'm configuring a new 2911 running c2900-universalk9-mz.SPA.151-4.M4. In the config by default is "line 2" its not a vty, aux or console line and I can't remove it.

Cisco :: GRE Tunnel Has To Be Reset After WAN Line Bounce C2900
Jun 2, 2013We are facing a strange issue with GRE tunnel. We are using this tunnel from a branch office to Hub office. All other tunnels terminated on Hub router are working fine. Issue with this tunnel is that whenever WAN connection goes down Line protocol on tunnel interface some times comes up and sometimes not (therefore we have to reset the tunnel interface and it comes up). Running C2900-UNIVERSALK8-M, Version 15.0(1)M3 RELEASE SOFTWARE (fc2)
I have several sets of inward NAT defined (51001-51007, 52001-52007. 53001-53007),all to various internal addresses. When I attempted to add another set, the new onesdo not work and get a "timeout" error.
When I tried port 51008, it gets a timeout. When I changed 51008 to 51010, the 51010 now gets a timeout, and 51008 now gets "connection refused" (which I expect).The original sets all work, the new ones (added at the end of the lists) do not.When I am on any of the internal machines, the target (192.168.1.21) works fine.When I am "in the router", I can connect via the ssh command, so I know that therouter can talk to 192.168.1.21 on port 22 as expected.
Cisco Switching/Routing :: C2900 / Trunking Between Router And 2 Distribution?
Oct 20, 2012Imagine I am designing a small network with a C2900 router running OSPF and in the future BGP with service provider. Please see attached diagram.The router is connected to (2) C3750 Layer 3 distribution switches. Then one C3560 layer 2 switch to serve future IP phone users and desktops.
Question:
a)If I connect the router interface to the (2) 3750 switches, if I make the router interface fa0/0 and fa0/1 as a trunk to accomodate VLAN 200 and other future VLANs, don't I have a problem with overlapping networks between router interface fa0/0 and fa0/1?
b)Alternatively, I could make the Router1 fa0/0 and fa0/1 configured with IP addresses and advertised in OSPF. Then the SW1 fa0/24 and and SW2 fa0/24 I could make as 'no switchport and create a routed interface port' with IP addresses, also running OSPF. Question is, from a scalable design perspectie, would you create 2 management networks and use those when assigning the IP addresses for Router1 fa0/1 and fa0/2? Because again Router1 fa0/1 and fa0/2 obviously need to be placed on different networks to avoid overlapping. So my question is more about proper network planning design to make this scalable to accomodate future VLANs in the future.Using trunks between the Router1 and SW1 option:

Sep 1, 2012I want to delete the first file c2600-i-mz.122-5d in the flash. Not only delete but also reclaim the memory held by deleted file.I followed a link and i ended up with the c2600-i-mz.122-5d marked as deleted in the flash but the memory was not reclaimed.When I restarted the router, it went to ROMMON mode. This is my understanding when router tried to boot from the flash, It tried to load the first file in the flash. Since the file was marked as deleted therefore Router went to ROMMON mode.Now my question is how could I delete the first file and reclaim the memory on 2600 router?

If you do a show vlan it still shows all the vlan text. I have tried the Switch#>delete vlan.dat, doesn't work. Tried Switch#>delete nvram:vlan.dat, doesn't work. Tried Switch#>erase startup-config, doesn't work. How can I get rid of the vlan's?

Nov 21, 2011I was configuring a new Catalyst 2960 switch and had forgotten to set the speed back to 9600 after downloading the new IOS software image. I finished doing all of my configurations and went in to line con 0 to change the speed back to 9600. The change was accepted and I did a 'wr' to save the change, but when I reload the switch it is back to 115200.

This is a new out of the box 4500 and I installed the Sup 6 Line card in Slot #1, And the two 48 port Fiber cards in Slots 2 and 3. Jul 17, 2012I have two data centres connected via a L2 DWDM, my manager wants to look into using OTV to get rid of the layer 2 broadcasting issues.
Problem is the DWDM is 1000BaseSX, which is only supported on the N7K-F132XP-15. (and the N7K-M148GS-11 but that doesn't support FCOE, so many bloody caveats). From what I can gather OTV is not supported on the N7K-F132XP-15.
Is it possible to terminate the DWDM on the F1 card & loop another port from the F1 to a port on the N7K-M148GT-11 & run OTV on the M1????
Either using VDCs or just an isolated VLAN on the F1. Is there any better way to do this? Hardware has not yet been purchased.

Apr 2, 2013We need to move some line cards around on our 4510. The top slots have a 24Gbps backplane while the lower slots are limited to 6Gbps. Poor planning on our part has left us with installing a 10Gb line card in one of the bottom slots. I'd like to move a couple of the cards up top, to the bottom.
My question is simply will the switch magically preserve the configuration for those cards and change the slot number for me or will I need to reconfigure the interfaces for those cards I move?

Jan 13, 2012NTP server When I setup NTP server to take time from [URL] everything is working fine but as soon as I reset my router during boot I can see that router is first trying to get time before it's even connected to ATM and when it can't get time from NTP server it's removing NTP line from configuration (ntp server uk.pool.ntp.org source Dialer0 ). How I setup to wait with sync and do it once ATM connection is up and established? Or How to get IOS to leave this line and sync with NTP every 10 min)?

At the moment my plan is to upgrade three cards from WS-X4548-GB-RJ45 to X4648 to get the 24Gbps per card.

1. Is this a viable plan?
2. If so can the cards be hot-swapped?

Aug 27, 2012I work for a Wireless ISP and the device impacted is the back haul radio into the site. I have swapped from a 2950T to a 3550. Replaced the radio, PoE, patch lead. We have re ran the cable up the tower using shielded outdoor cable with a drain wire which has been earthed to an earthing block in the cabinet. We have other devices on the tower not experiencing the issue. We suspect cable interference however am now at a loss to diagnose further.

The bug details is not disclosed. So I further search what the default memory size of the WS-F6700-CFC is, then I found here says it is only supported by Sup720 and no memory upgrade option, which means must upgrade to DFC4, in another words, it is not compatible with Sup-2T

Jan 26, 2013The WS-X68xx series line card has a fabric of 40Gbps and a 16 Port 10GE has a 4:1 oversubscription rate. The WS-X6908-10G has a fabric speed of 80Gbps and has a 1:1 oversubscription rate.
If I mixed the 68xx and 69xx series line card, do I get 80Gbps for the 6900x and 40gbps for the 68xx line card? Or would the 69xx series line card be downgraded to 40Gbps?
From my understanding, the 68xx series has a DFC card and thus the fabric speed operates independently.
