Cisco WAN :: 871 - Getting Locked Out Of The Router / Unresponsive
Mar 13, 2013
I am attempting to replace my actiontec router with the Cisco 871 I have little expirience with CLI-IOS so I was trying to use sdm express that failed to load and when I finally got it to load it still didnt work and I ended up getting locked out of the router it was totally unresponsive. So I did a reset and now am attempting to use the Cisco Configuration Assistant to set up my wan connection but it have been loading security related data for 15 minutes and I have a feeling it's not doing anything at all. I don't understand what I'm doing wrong.... Any advice.... I just was trying to get a default set up that would give me internet access Im not trying to enable any of the security functionality at this point.
So I am an owner of this router for the last 2 years: TL-WR542G - Welcome to TP-LINK . Today it died on me. All of its leds are lightning up, but it doesn't provide a wifi network, and won't give me an interface when i try to access it through 192.168.1.1 on my desktop . There seems to be nothing I can do about it , I tried pushing the reset button on it's back but it does nothing at all.
Do I have any other options to get some life back into it?
i recently enabled bridged mode on my first router/modem and now it seems that i cannot access the configuration with the normal 192.168.0.1 address. Is there anyway i can access the configuration excluding the hard reset?
My Netgear wireless router had been working just fine and then inexplicably stopped allowing wireless internet access. My modem is fine. I contacted my internet service provider, and no luck. I unplugged the router's power source and plugged it back it in. Still not working. I switched the power on and off. Nothing. I do not know what to try next.

I tried to upgrade a TD-VG3631 that came with firmware version TD-VG3631_V1_120929 to the latest TD-VG3631_V1_130108 version.[url]...Is there a recovery procedure to flash back a firmware?
My WRT54G Linksys router works with wifi and local connection but it wont let me configure to change it to PPpoe nor wont let me enable a wireless connection, so it's open to the public how do i get it to open it resetting it and holding the button on the router for 30 secs.
I set my router to allow my xbox360's mac address, not knowing that it would kick out all of my other devices. So now I can't access my own router and I need to reset it. How do I do that?E1200 series linksys router. I'm looking for an ethernet cable and my installation disk right now to see if I can connect with the cable and maybe use something on the disk if I have to.
I got a refurbished EA4500 (directly from Cisco) last week. I have been having a few issues, which I have found (not too great) workarounds for. However, the latest issue has me stumped, and is unacceptable.Whenever I am transferring files between 2 computers, I get kind of OK speed (5 MB/s). However, while this transfer happens, no other device can connect to the net. Actually, even trying to go to router home page (192.168.1.1) times out.The clients still say they are connected to the router, but I just can't get anywhere. As soon as the file transfer finishes, everything goes back to normal.EA4500 replaced a WRT54G. Never had any problems with that router. It was such a workhorse. Just needed to upgrade to a n-router.I am on the latest non-cloud firmware.I have reduced the MTU size to 1200. Not sure that matters.
I ran the firmware upgrade and hit the reset button for 30 seconds and everything went well until I went to restore my personal settings. When I went to the router page it asked for a user name and password but the old user name and password don't work so I am locked out and can't get to the restore page.
I'm monitoring 2 ASA 5585-x firewalls (in HA mode) using Cisco Prime LMS 4.2.1. The LMS server is connected to the firewalls on the inside interface.
My issue is that I keep on receiving Alert messages on Fault Monitor for both ASA firewalls listing all interfaces (except inside interface) as unresponsive.
My thought is that since the LMS server is not able to ping other active interfaces, it generates these alert messages.
My query is whether I'm thinking right? If yes, how can I prevent these unwanted messages from showing in Fault Monitor?
I have an intermittent issue with a new WAG320N.Device is new (installed for 1 month now) and is running the latest firmware "out of the box".
Device was confirmed as working (recommended) via the ISP, as it uses a Broadcom chipset, so it works "more reliably" with the ISP's hardware which uses the same chipset.
Setup was painless and the router synced up fine and has been operating for a few weeks. However, twice in the past week the router has become unresponsive to ping over the LAN. Furthermore, the device's lights indicate everything is OK, however I have to reset the router (power cycle) and then it returns to normal.
WIFI is OFF. LAN IP is set manually, DHCP is OFF. The router is plugged into it's own UPS.
I have a Synology NAS that is connected to several IP Cameras through a SG300 switch. From time to time the IP cameras become "disconnected" at random When I reboot the switch, the access to cameras is re-established.
Problems: it requires an external device to reboot the switchall ports are shutdown while rebooting the switch
Q1 Is there a way to program the SG300 to reboot itself automatically every X hours?
Q2 Is there a way to automate the following process on the SG300 switch itself. ping a camera every 1 minutesafter three unresponsive ping, shutdown and restart the port to which the camera is connected
Background: Port forwarding external port 1234 to internal port 123 on a NAS appliance (ip 192.168.1.111) Successfully accessed NAS like this: [URL] Everything was working perfectly for several weeks Last week I changed the subnet to 172.17.888.x
Problem: Everything back to normal on the LAN except that port forwarding to the NAS no longer works.
Gerfingerpoken: I opened another port (1235) and forwarded that to the NAS (in addition to the original port). No success.
I tried a port scanner. The port scanner reported that port 1234 was open on the router, but didn't mention 1235. I repeated with yet another port. Same result: only port 1234 is reported open by the port scanner. Software rebooted the router, same result Hard reset (button) the router, still no change.
QUESTIONS: 1. How can I test if the router is actually forwarding new ports? (software tool?)
I found my CSC module installed in ASA 5510 unresponsive. I tried to recover / re-image the module with .bin file. but I think it is not possible to re-image because there is no rechability with CSC module, and session 1 command also doesn't work,
you can see the response here.
CS-ASA# session 1
Opening command session with slot 1.
Card in slot 1 did not respond to session request.
CS-ASA#
In this case how to enter into the module?
I removed and inserted the module and tried to reach to it .. but couldnt solve . I just wanted to know whether hardware is dead or not.
Every 25 minutes, sometimes sooner, sometimes later but usually on the dot I get limited access and the router interface becomes inaccessible for about 1-3 minutes. My problem is my room mate has left for the week and the router is locked in there. I am unable to connect hardwired or power cycle the router. I have the password for the connect and I just got the PW for the router interface. I also have remote capabilities. I have been trying many things to stop it from being so slow and unstable but basically even though my signal reception is 4-5 bars I am only averaging 11mbps speed. I am using a b/g alfa 1w adapter but this shouldn't be the cause of the slower speeds. I can only achieve 1-3mbps down on speedtest.net whereas before I was getting 6-12mbps down.
-UPnP Off. -NAT Firewall Open. -300mbps Max -Channel 1 no other channels within 5 channels near it. -WPA2-PSK [AES] -Default MAC Address -Automatic Configuring of all IP Addresses -MTU 1500 -WMM On.
Being limited by lack of power cycle and hardwired connect makes it a little harder. I know it's fixable without that though. Also there is no point of a hardwired connect unless I am upgrading the firmware (it already has the newest firmware by default) because I know it should work fine like that. I have tested connecting to other networks and I do not d/c on them. My own research has shown that setting a static IP resolves the issue. I am unfamiliar with exactly how to set this up for the router and the client and if it involves dealing with the ISP (Comcast)
My DSC-930L's web interface becomes unresponsive about an hour or two after power cycling my camera. It still responds to pings, and it still sends images to FTP when it detects motion, but I can't log into it via web interface, mydlink, or the iphone app. Power cycling the camera fixes the problem for an hour or so but then its right back to not working again.
During installation of CM 5.1.4 on Windows 2003 Enterprise Server, I get popup windows "Stop All Programs". I checked Windows Service console but have been unable to determine which processes may be holding these files.
I am a medical student and I use my college wifi to download torrent files via utorrent. Earlier they have blocked torrent sites, So... I use to download the torrent address via my 3G Dongle and then open it in the utorrent to download the whole file ( 4 GB or 8 GB size). The WiFi provides about 1-2 Mbps speed and the files ude to download very easily . But, now along with the blocked site , ... the utorrent is not catching speed.
I had a custom device/computer on my network that was hacked from hong kong. It's one of those things where I seriously think the chinese have built a back door into it when they built it or something because everything was secured and monitored. The device runs it own OS or something like that I guess you could say. It can also run it in standalone mode broadcasting it's own signal. Once I figure this out I may not put it online anymore but thats besides the point right now. When it was hacked I'm pretty sure the port it uses to connect was changed from 80 to 591. When it runs in standalone mode I can connect to it but I am unable to actually access it's proprietary graphic network interface. It sends out UDP every few seconds or so and basically I was trying to search for some type of udp broadcast monitor and have tried using network tools such as netstat, port scanning, multicast, etc on all of the big three OS's because sometimes it seemed to finnicky what it wants to connect to. I've tried to let it connect back to my router again which it seems to do, but is then denied access and I think it may even have a trojan or somethng so I don't want it to that but if I have to to access it again I will.In standalone mode I've it usually trys to connect on 192...5 or 192...7 and I've tried to get through 591, 23, 80 etc. multiple times with no luck.
I have a computer through my old school and i still cant get into the main part of the computer to change my password etc; How do i unblock it?when i click it, it says; please contact system administration but i cant and they wont tell me.
We are using ASA5520 as our VPN concentrator and has configured IPSec authentication using digital certificates with Microsoft CA for the remote access VPN. The AAA server used for remote user authentication is Windows Active Directory. Screenshot of the AAA configuration is attached. The problem we face is that the "Login DN" account (marked in red box in the screenshot) is frequently getting locked out in the active directory. I have confirmed that the password is the same on both ends and the account is not used any where else.
The NTP server configured for the VPN concentrator is the Active Directory itself but no accounts are configured (not required) for updating the time service in the concentrator.
I've been using the trial version of a product called Folder Lock on another computer than the one I'm using right now to type this message. I got a little too enthusiastic about locking away folders into Folder Lock on that other computer, and I think I locked away Folder Lock itself. In the past (before this problem developed), when I clicked a Folder Lock icon, it used to prompt me for the Folder Lock password, which I would then input, and then Folder Lock would open, and I could lock and unlock folders. But the problem is that now I don't get prompted for the Folder Lock password. I get a message (from Folder Lock) that says, roughly, "you may not have permissions to carry out that action." So even though I have the Folder Lock password, I can't open Folder Lock, because it won't prompt me for the password, and just says I don't have permissions.I also locked into Folder Lock my downloads folder on that computer, and apparently folders or icons that used to allow me to access the internet on that computer. I can no longer access internet from that computer.I'm wondering how I can get Folder Lock to prompt me for the password, so I can open Folder Lock. I would like to unlock all the folders I locked -- including if I locked Folder Lock itself! I locked away a lot of my important stuff. I wonder if I should do a system restore to a date before I installed Folder Lock, but I wonder if the system restore might fail to delete Folder Lock, because Folder Lock might prevent its own deletion. I have Folder Lock 7. I have Windows 7.
My wife and I Security Enabled our wireless network several months ago.We recently moved, and after transferring Internet service, we realized we'd lost our passkey. My wife's laptop has, after one failed attempt to connect to the network, refused to even show the network as an available connection. We currently have the router set to broadcast SSID.We have restored factory settings on the router and completely revamped the security setup. We've removed all other networks in the area as optional connections on her computer. We also replaced the ethernet cord to my desktop because the old one started erratically disconnecting.Nothing's worked. My wife's computer is a Dell laptop using Windows Vista.
I have installed a SumvisionSWV322P Wireless PCI Adapter in to my desktop and have configured it to run on my existing home network: I can connect no problem but after about 10 mins my whole desktop just locks up: The only way I can get out of this is by re-booting by turning the machine off completely by the on/off button. My OS is Windows XP Professional version 2002 SP3:
I have a Linksys wusb54gc, after downloading driver and install, system performance changed. Tried several fixes suggested at another site which failed Cannot delete (access denied) Trying to remove through control panel error "critical file missing" win xp os. Would like for this to work as it had on the computer it was originally purchased for. "gina.dll" interferes with the os.
I am currently running cisco ACS 5.1.0.44 and use active directory as the main authentication identity store to allow network administrators to have access to network devices in my organization .As per the established security policies in my organization , the ACS has to disable any account after 3 failed login attempts to any network devices .i have gone through all the settings oN the acs but couldn't find where or how it is done .
I am working on a Drupal site which is on a virtual server (the way it's been explained to me). I've been told I need to work with it through webdev. So I can copy a file off the server and onto my local machine. I make my edits and then try to upload it to the server. I get locked out with the message: Error 0x80070021: The process cannot access the file because another process has locked a portion of the file. I have tried shutting down my code editor, opening and closing the connection, tried different methods of reaching the server (Cyberduck and through Window's map network feature) to no avail. What can I do?
I have an e2000 wireless router. I have the latest software version for the Cisco software.I have noticed that Cisco sets up the same password to access the router setup page as the wireless password..Anyone that connects to the main SSID will be able to connect to the setup page at 192.168.1.1...I know that I can change the password in the linksys setup page to whatever I want, but then when I open the Cisco software, it wants me to change the password to match what the administrator password is.Don't they realize that a wireless password is different than the Administrator password to access the router settings?
I want to use cisco connect with the Router E1200. There is a wireless connection between laptop and E1200 Router. When I run the "Cisco Connect" after couple minutes searching It can not find the Router and I have to put an (Router name SSID) and password.
I have managed to get the tunnel up and working and we are sending data via the tunnel from our Cisco VPN router to the Draytek and onto the clients server. (they , the client, have acknowledged that they are recieving and sending packets back to us). But, we never see any returning packets at our VPN tunnel endpoint. When we send I see the encrypted packet count go up , but the packet decrypt remains at zero, this is using show crypto ipsec sa | begin x.x.x.x.
We do have other working VPN solutions, but this is the first connecting to a Draytek. The ACL's are matching, and they have NAT turned off. The routing is fine or else the tunnel would not come up as are all the tunnel parameters, else our packets would not arrive at their server.
