Cisco :: 887w VLan On SSID

Sep 24, 2011

The issue that I have is around getting second SSID work on my router! So I have created two Vlans, 30 & 200. Vlan 200 is the native and is associated to SSID "Bitter". This SSID works like a charm however the other Vlan cannot be even pinged from router side the ip that I tried to ping is 192.168.30.1. I have posted the config below. Also i tried to brak wlan-gig into sub interfaces but the IOS does not accept that!

Vlan 30 >>>RadioDot 11 0.30>>>>Gigabit 0.2>>>>bridge group 2
Vlan 200>>RadioDot 11 0.200>>>Gigabit 0.1>>>>bridge group 1 (native Vlan)

Router side:

ip source-route

!
ip dhcp excluded-address 10.10.10.1

Cisco WAN :: Cannot Connect To The 887W Router Via Wireless Network

Oct 8, 2011

I recently installed a new Cisco 887W router @ my place and everything is working like a charm but the Macbook Air! The devices that are working currently are: iPhone, iPad, HP laptop, Nokia mobile phone.I  have checked two Macbook Air so far and both have the same problem with  the wireless network! I even manually added the SSID to "Airport  Preferred network setting" but still couldn't make it to work!So the  issue is the Macbook Air can detect the SSIDs intermittently however  when it detects the SSID it doesn not connect to the wireless network  and it comes up with the error of "connection timeout".  I have used the  command "show dot11 association" to see if the Macbook air will be  detected on the router side unfortunately that was in vain. The  setting that I have on the router under SSID is "guest-mode" i.e. it  broadcasts the SSID, security is WPA 2 with AES encyrption.

Cisco Switching/Routing :: 887W - Google Chrome And Updates Not Working

Nov 1, 2012

I have cisco router 800 series 887 VAW. WiFi is connected to all my devices through this router, i.e.,  Windows XP,  Vista, Wii, Nexus 7 and HTC Desire S. I can access internet from all these devices. The apps which are already downloaded on my Android devices connect to internet, but the bigest problem is here:

1. Google Play does not connect (on both Nexus 7 and Desire S).
2. Chrome does not work on Nexus 7
3. Nexus 7 fails to check for any system update.
4. Fails to sync accounts.

I tried to contact to the company which gave me this router, but they told the problem lies with my tablet. But the tablet works perfectly fine with others networks and Android phone works fine with 3G and other networks.

When I configure the TD-8968 all works well, it syncs but does not connect to internet. When I diagnose the connection the modem pass tests at ATm level but is not able to find the default gateway. I got another modem (the one to be substituted with the 8968) that it works with the configuration I am triying to use. Is there some step I am missing or is the modem faulty?

Cisco Switching/Routing :: 887W Two Ssid Routing Between VLAN?

Oct 4, 2012

I created a second VLAN and a second SSID. My problem is that from a PC on the native VLAN 1 I can ping the IP of VLAN 2 192.168.2.254 but I cannot ping any other device that has connected to the second SSID. How do I get routing to work between the two VLAN? I thought it would be automatically setup when I created the second VLAN using Cisco Configuration Professional?

Dell :: 1505 Adapter - Can't Find Own Router But Can Find Neighbor's

Jul 12, 2013

this might sound straight forward, but every other pc or console can find and connect to my router. This issue seems to happen about once every few months, sometimes it comes back by itself and reconnects completely fine.

There isn't a "user limit" on our router.Wireless adapter is dell wireless 1505 draft 802.11n wlan mini-card.

Have restarted PC and uninstalled and reinstalled the card.I tried to set the i.p address to static but it says "adapter disconnected" so won't allow me to edit any settings, despite it being able to find neighbour's wireless very easily.

Cisco :: ASA 5505 As Default-Gateway?

Mar 28, 2012

I am trying to get rid of 2 old 2651xm's and 2 2950's from my CCNA days and want to get into the ASA realm. Can I be able to use the ASA, not only as a security appliance / firewall, but also be able to write the access lists, etc, to be able to use this as my router to push packets to and from my internal LAN to the outside world? I guess I should have stated as this being the front end device to my network, just after my DSL Cable modem, that is..and being the only device. I am trying to have this as my main router /firewall solution and then I have an old Linksys router I will pipe off one of the L2 ports to have an AP for my wireless devices? Is this a real solution an ASA can provide?

Cisco WAN :: Can't Use ASA5505 As Default Gateway For LAN

Mar 16, 2011

We have a network consisting of a central site and a few remote offices. The sites are all connected via MPLS and also have VPNs over ADSL / internet connections as a backup. The remote offices have Cisco 837 routers for the ADSL connections which we can manage but the MPLS routers are managed by the service provider providing the MPLS connections. At the central site we have a Cisco 891 for the the MPLS connection (which we manage) and a Cisco ASA5505 for the backup VPNs.

In order to implement failover from MPLS to VPN in the event of any MPLS line going down I have tried to use ip sla monitors and tracked objects on the 891 as per Cisco's documentation. The problem that I am finding is that I can't set the number of ICMP echo failures required before the tracked route is dropped. Whenever the ip sla monitor fails to get a response the tracked route is dropped immediately. This is too sensitive as packets are occasionally dropped which results in the routes bouncing back and forth between MPLS and VPN too frequently (disconnecting users in the process).

I have tried different threshold types and values, tried configuring ip sla monitor reaction-triggers (although I don't understand what little documentation that I can find on this) and have even looked at event manager. I have been working on this for a few weeks now and am getting nowhere.

The Cisco ASA5505's implementation of ip sla monitor is much better in that it is possible to specify the number of packets but unfortunately we can't use the ASA as the default gateway for the LAN as the asymmetrical routing that occurs does not work with the firewall function of the ASA.

Any issue with ip sla monitor on IOS and managed to get it working?

Cisco WAN :: BGP 300 - Default Route Maps

Sep 3, 2011

I'm working on a practice lab and am having the following issue. I have a customer router connected to two different ISP routers. Each ISP router must advertise a default through BGP to the customer and one of the default routes must be preferred over the other. Given if the preferred route interface is shut down the other default route is inserted into the routing table and when the preferred default route interface it turned back on that path is used again. The catch is I cant alter the customer router only the the two ISP devices.  I tried doing some route maps but I'm lost. I have deleted all my route maps and have posted the BGP portion of the ISP routers.

Can't Connect To Default 192.168.1.1 Or 192.168.0.1

Jan 3, 2013

I'm in student halls where the internet connection they provide is via ethernet cable. I've read somewhere that if I hook up a router I should be able to set up wireless - so I got a relative's old router and hooked it up. Everything is connected and working fine, however, the connection has no security set up whatsoever.I can't connect to the default 192.168.1.1 or the 192.168.0.1 which I believe would take me to the router's settings page (according to the manual) where I could set up a WPA2 password. Also, when I checked router's IP address it actually displays as 109.175.244.193, but I can't connect to this either. My ISP is StudentCom.This is a 3Com OfficeConnect ADSL Wireless 11g Firewall Router.I'm using both a Windows 7 computer and an OSX 10.8.2 MacBook Pro. Default Gateway Not Available

Periodically, I drop internet everywhere around my college's campus. I'm literally four feet from a router, but it doesn't seem to matter. I'll disconnect, run troubleshooter, and I'll get the error message saying that the default gateway is not available. My college is designed for Macs, but I'm running Windows 7. Cisco :: Default - Gateway On Switch Command

Mar 27, 2013

I'm really not clear about default-gateway on switch command, not the function but how its works.i have 1 multilayer switch (MLS 1) that have 2 vlan within it, vlan 2 and 100. on vlan 2 i assign ip address of 192.168.1.1 and on vlan 100 is 172.16.1.254. both vlans are up. then under that multilayer switch i added 2 more MLS (MLS 2 and MLS 3), and the links of MLS 2 and 3 to MLS 1 are trunking. and both MLS 2 and 3 have a same vlan with MLS 1. that i assign an ip address on vlan 2 in MLS 2 192.168.1.2 and i set default gateway 192.168.1.1, and i do the same to MLS 3 but the ip address of vlan 2 is 192.168.1.3i already setup the routing protocol on MLS 1 so that vlan 2 could contact vlan 100. but the fact it doesnt work at all, both MLS 2 and 3 cannot contact vlan 100 eventhough that are already have default-gateway setup, is there anything wrong with the configuration ??

Cisco :: BGP And Default Gateway 50% Loss Between Hosts

Mar 22, 2013

Why it makes problems to use a default route on a BGP-router (cisco 6500 with sup720 3bxl).Only a very few amount of hosts have that kind of problem and the 50% paket loss is only between this hosts. So another host has no loss to any of the affected hosts. looks for me like there is a problem in the CEF-table.The router has a BGP-fulltable. The gateway of last resort is only set for cases like a flapping BGP-route, so that the traffic is sent to a default next hop, because sometimes he knows a better route which isnt flapping.

Cisco Routers :: Default Routing On WRVS4400Nv2?

Nov 14, 2012

I have the device configured in Router mode with 2 VLANs. I am able to communicate between the VLANs however my intention is to get VLAN 2 to talk to the internet and that is not working. A caveat is that I am not using the WAN port on this router at all.

The way I intend for this to work is that I have configured a default route on this device to point to a next hop IP in VLAN 1. Even though VLAN 1 is configured on this device the default gateway for this VLAN resides on another device upstream towards the internet connection. That upstream device is providing the DHCP etc for VLAN1. All devices in VLAN1 are able to get to the internet. Even the ones that reside behind this WRVS4400Nv2.

VLAN 2 is only configured on this device and the Default GW resides on this device. This WRVS is configured to be the DHCP server for this VLAN. Even though hosts in VLAN2 can communicate with devices in VLAN1 and vice-versa none of the hosts in VLAN2 are able to reach the internet. A simple ping gives the message "network unreachable from <IP of WRVS-VLAN2>. So it seems like the WRVS is not using the static default route.

I have upgraded the firmware to the latest version V2.0.2.1. Below is a simple diagram of the setup

VLAN-1   |
------- WRVS4400( IF: LAN1 )--------( IF: LAN1 )Generic Router( IF: WAN )---------INTERNET
VLAN-2   |

actually function as a router or is it that router mode is only to disable NAT and it really does not look up its routing table to route pkts out another LAN interface.
