Cisco WAN :: Cannot Connect To The 887W Router Via Wireless Network
Oct 8, 2011
I recently installed a new Cisco 887W router @ my place and everything is working like a charm but the Macbook Air! The devices that are working currently are: iPhone, iPad, HP laptop, Nokia mobile phone.I have checked two Macbook Air so far and both have the same problem with the wireless network! I even manually added the SSID to "Airport Preferred network setting" but still couldn't make it to work!So the issue is the Macbook Air can detect the SSIDs intermittently however when it detects the SSID it doesn not connect to the wireless network and it comes up with the error of "connection timeout". I have used the command "show dot11 association" to see if the Macbook air will be detected on the router side unfortunately that was in vain. The setting that I have on the router under SSID is "guest-mode" i.e. it broadcasts the SSID, security is WPA 2 with AES encyrption.

The issue that I have is around getting second SSID work on my router! So I have created two Vlans, 30 & 200. Vlan 200 is the native and is associated to SSID "Bitter". This SSID works like a charm however the other Vlan cannot be even pinged from router side the ip that I tried to ping is 192.168.30.1. I have posted the config below. Also i tried to brak wlan-gig into sub interfaces but the IOS does not accept that!
Vlan 30 >>>RadioDot 11 0.30>>>>Gigabit 0.2>>>>bridge group 2
Vlan 200>>RadioDot 11 0.200>>>Gigabit 0.1>>>>bridge group 1 (native Vlan)
Router side:
ip source-route
!
!
!
ip dhcp excluded-address 10.10.10.1
[Code]...

I have cisco router 800 series 887 VAW. WiFi is connected to all my devices through this router, i.e., Windows XP, Vista, Wii, Nexus 7 and HTC Desire S. I can access internet from all these devices. The apps which are already downloaded on my Android devices connect to internet, but the bigest problem is here:
1. Google Play does not connect (on both Nexus 7 and Desire S).
2. Chrome does not work on Nexus 7
3. Nexus 7 fails to check for any system update.
4. Fails to sync accounts.
I tried to contact to the company which gave me this router, but they told the problem lies with my tablet. But the tablet works perfectly fine with others networks and Android phone works fine with 3G and other networks.

I created a second VLAN and a second SSID. My problem is that from a PC on the native VLAN 1 I can ping the IP of VLAN 2 192.168.2.254 but I cannot ping any other device that has connected to the second SSID. How do I get routing to work between the two VLAN? I thought it would be automatically setup when I created the second VLAN using Cisco Configuration Professional?

currently I have a modem and wireless router next to the family desktop, but the signal is not strong enough for me to get wireless internet on my laptop at the opposite end of the house (where my room is :()I borrowed a friends signal boosting aerial (can't remember the model sorry) to test out whether that work, but the signal was still not strong enough and faded out alot.I would like to purchase a gaming desktop for my room to play online games, so was wondering if it is possible to connect a second wireless router in a different location in the house so that the range covers the whole house? The outcome I am searching for here is that I can plug this gaming desktop directly into the second router and use my laptop wirelessly anywhere in the house. Is this possible? Could you also recommend a good "G" router? I don't need a really expensive one with a heap of features either, just a good reliable signal

I recently purchased a Samsung Smartphone which works great but will not connect to my secure wireless network. I have an older D-Link DIR-625 rev a draft N router with other devices connected to it. I am using Network Magic software which makes adding new devices simple. When I turn on the phone's Wi-Fi setting, it scans for local networks, and recoginizes mine. I add the correct passphrase but the phone will not connect. I am using MAC filtering on my network so I went on to the admin page and added the phone's mac id. Still no connection. This smartphone is not very smart.

I have set up three E4200 routers as wireless access points on our network. They each have a static ip and the same subnet mask and gateway that our pcs have. They also have a local address that I can connect to if wired straight into them.
I cannot ping or remote admin into any of them and I have enabled all the options to do so. The routers seem to work fine as WAPs, providing internet and network access.

I have set up a wireless home network using ADSL with the following components: TrendNet TEW- 432 BRP Wireless Router Gateway Desktop with Windows 7 OS, iMac desktop with Leopard 10.5.7 OS Compaq Presario Notebook with Vista Home Premium OS Service Pack 2 I am able to connect to the network with all 3 but I have a problem with the Notebook. It is very slow to connect and sometimes takes 15 minutes or more to find the network. Once it is connected it works fine and doesnt disconnect, but if I have to reboot for any reason the same problem occurs. It does not appear to be a problem with the placement of the router and the signal strength which is "very good" to "excellent". I say "slow to connect (again)" because this had occurred before and I returned the laptop under warranty. HP replaced the wireless network card and it worked fine, but the problem has come back over a year later. I suspect that the card is not at fault and that the problem is elsewhere but I am at a loss as to what it might be.

Just to set the stage, we used to have a network which ran in the following order:
For wired workstations: bridged DSL modem->wireless Linksys E900 router->Dell PowerConnect 2824 switch->2 modular 4-port jacks->individual workstations For wireless: bridged DSL modem->wireless Linksys E900 router->workstations The workstations were set up to pick up IP addresses automatically. After an infrastructure upgrade where we added some Cat6 cables and swapped the modular jacks for a patch panel, we lost all connectivity. I restored the connectivity to the wired workstations by assigning IP addresses. But we have no wireless and I cannot access the router GUI at its IP address (even when plugged directly into the router). All the workstations show the default gateway as 192.168.10.1, so I don't know what's going on.

I have a Cisco 4200 Wireless Router connected directly to my cable modem. To extend the wireless range I purchased a Cisco 2500 Wireless Router. As the house is "wired," I can connect the Cisco 2500 to the cable modem in a room separate from the Cisco 4200. My question is how do I configure the Cisco 2500 to connect to the network and provide wireless coverage from both routers.

I'm having trouble connecting my 360 to the wireless router to gain Internet access.I use my phone's Wi-Fi to gain internet access with NO issues. My current setup: NetGear Wireless router is connected to my D-Link wired router, and I can access the internet no problem. (10 MBPS down, 5MBPS up)When I try to connect the 360 to the Netgear Wireless router, it connects to the Network, but Internet test it reads "DNS error - The router or modem may mot be automatically providing DNS settings. Try a manual DNS setting instead."(Next suggestion) "DNS Error - If you have a PC that can successfully browse the web, check it's network properties to find the DNS address it uses..."Now, I have XBMC running on my computer, and the 360 can access the network so it shows up under Video Apps so I can see a file list to stream movies. When I try to run a movie, it says I must download an update - so I can't watch the movies at all.I juso set it up so I can access the Network AND Internet.Again, Netgear wireless router (which 360 connects to) connected to D-Link wired router.

I'd like to use my old linksys wrt54g v5 to connect to that network wirelessly and allow me to connect my xbox via wired ethernet. Basically instead of buying a wireless adapter for the xbox, i'd like to know if/ how i can use my linksys router instead.

I have an E4200v2 configured with an n-only 5GHz network and a mixed 2.4GHz network. Our MacBooks and iPad connect to the 5GHz network, and everything else (iPhones, TVs, etc) connect to the 2.4GHz network. If I disable "WMM" on the QoS screen, nothing can connect to the 5GHz network. Those same devices can connect to the 2.4GHz network, but not the 5GHz. The MacBooks, for example, get a connection timeout error, and the iPad just says "cannot connect." This doesn't seem quite right. I don't absolutely need to disable WMM, but I wanted to make sure that normal WiFi Internet traffic didn't get priority over local wired Mac->AppleTV streaming or voice calls from our wired Vonage box.

I have the E3000 router. I set it up about a month ago and had my laptop and iphones and ipads all hooked up and working great. About two weeks ago, all of my devices are having problems connecting to the network and if they do connect, it is unstable (slow speeds or constantly dropping from the network). I know it is not the internet due to the fact that my LAN connection (hardwired) runs great. I am pulling my hair out trying to figure out why. I have restored to factory defauls and started over setting it up with no change in performance. I have the latest drivers on the router and the laptop. I thought maybe it was vista and my laptop or network card, but the fact that I cannot get my phones or ipads to connect with good performance I am starting to think it is something to do with the router. Also, just for more info, I am using Chater cable internet. I am running vista 64x on the laptop.

Yesterday i was playing online on my Xbox 360, and was disconnected from the internet. I came downstairs to reset router/modem, once doing so i went into the router settings for my Linksys WRT54G. My modem by default uses the 192.168.1.1, so my router was 192.168.2.1... So i powercycle, log into router settings through 192.168.2.1 and start setting up my port forwarding for the xbox ports. Saved Settings, and the page would not load to say "Settings Saved". Closed the window and now my pc says no internet connection. I had to create a VPN broadband connection to even use the internet on my pc. I can no longer log into 192.168.2.1 for my router, nor can i access 192.168.1.1 to even get into my modem settings.. I'm using windows 7, and the automatic troubleshooting guide tells me to powercycle my modem. My xbox can still see my wireless network "linksys" but will not connect to it, even with the VPN connection i am still hooked though my router and modem.. Im afraid that my router just out of nowhere "died"..

So, with the latest firmware update I could add a second e4200 to my network to use as a bridge or access point? What I need is another device in my living room that can pick up the wireless signal and dish out network connectivity to my receiver, xbox360, and ps3. With the new firmware update can this be done with a second e4200? How does one connect to each e4200 on the network for setup (dohave to change the default ip address of 1?)I just bought a trendnet TEW-687GA 450 mb/s wireless gaming adapter and a trendnet 5 port switch to accomplish what I mentioned above. I'm just wondering if there is an advantage to switching over to two e4200's. The trendnet adapater does not have a 5ghz channel.

I have a Linksys E1500 wireless router that I have had for about 3 months and it has been working great up until today. I realized non of my wireless devices could detect the network, so I got on my PC which is hard wired to the router and it to says it had no network connection. So I power cycled both the router and the modem. When it came back up, this PC that I am typing from now has an internet connection but is says it is connected to Network 2 instead of the routers name for the network. My other PC that is hard wired to the router says its not connected to the network, and when I open up the Cisco Connect software it tells me my router is not plugged in. Also, nothing works wirelessly. In the web control panel it still has all my setting intact but still looks like its not connected to the internet.
