Cisco WAN :: Which Router For Ethernet / Internet Service WS-C4003
Dec 30, 2012
My ISP has installed Ethernet/Internet service at my office (3Mbps up/3Mbps down). The provider calls it "3M EIA service". This comes with a block of 8 static IP addresses (/29 with 5 useable addresses). This replaces a DSL connection. My network has one Cisco/Tandberg Codec C20 video camera which requires a static public IP address. The internal network is DHCP (192.168.x.x).
My office never has more than 15 PCs accessing the Internet at a time.Already installed is a Cisco WS-C2950G-48-EI 48-Port Catalyst 2950 Series Switch. I also have available a Cisco 96-Port Catalyst 4000 Series (Model: WS-C4003 Series) hand-me-down that I can install if the 2950 won't work. I've been told that both will work.I also have available to me a Cisco 1841 router (also a hand-me-down) with a T1 module which I can replace with an appropriate module. However, I've been told that any Cisco 1800 series router won't work. The 1900 series will (too expensive for me).
I have never had to connect, configure or otherwise deal with such a circuit. This may be much simplier than I am trying to make of it. I am very much a newbie to this so I beg your indulgence. What I need to know is what do I need by way of hardware (router or other) in order to make this work? Would a Cisco Small Business RVS4000 Gigabit Security Router with VPN 1 x RJ45 WAN Ports 4 x 10/100/1000Mbps LAN Ports suffice? If so, would setting up VLANs be recommended?
I'm trying to access the CLI on a Cisco Catalyst 4003 switch.
It has a WS-X4012 Supervisor module, a WS-X4232-L3 - Layer 3 Routing Module, and a WS-X4418-GB switching module. Well to make things short and sweet, I don't have a computer with a COM port on it. I need to access the CLI to setup the switch, and I only have a ethernet port on my computer and I'm running Ubuntu 11.10. How to access the CLI? This is just a second hand switch I picked up.
I switched from DSL to cable about a week ago, I have two desktops connected via ethernet cable to the modem. One works fine, the second stays connected for 5 seconds, disconnected for 5 seconds, connected, again, etc until the system is on for 45 minutes or so and then it stays connected. I feel like it is probably a setting and that the system is trying to detect something during that time. Problem is I have no idea where to start and Comcast is totally useless. I have already replaced the cable because that's what they said the issue was, it wasn't.
We are looking for buying a 20GE port 7600 ES+ Card. However, there are a few different models, we are not sure which one is the right one. We will be using this card for Metro Ethernet Termination, MPLS VPN, EoMPLS, QoS (Marking, CBWFQ), PPPoE, possibly VPLS.
My roommate and I are trying to set up the internet, but my computer won't detect the Ethernet Cable. Whenever I go to Network and Sharing Center and try connecting to the internet, the computer simply says "Windows did not detect any networking hardware", even though the light is clearly on and should be working. The cable is also new so it should be fine. I've also been looking around on the internet a bit, and in trying to fix the problem it looks like some of my Services are turned off, which seems to be causing the problem. However, whenever I try and turn them on, I get an error message saying "The dependency service or group failed to start".
I purchased a refurbed? router on the internet, not supported any longer by Cisco Chat. I have a wireless internet: WiMax thru Clear wireless. I have a Linksys voip box coming off it for my phones. I installed the disk that came with the router, followed the directions, and got a message that Internet could not be found. Went to the live chat and followed some advice that did not work, conflict with voip? bypassed the voip and ran a cable from the wireless modem to my E3000.
If I have a wireless network set up with the Linksys E1000 using one internet provider and then change the internet provider service to someone else, do I have to reset up the network or is it simply a matter of connecting the new internet service to the router?
When I create a service object or group and add the object to a new rule it never works.I mean the traffic match not the rule. I see not hits.I placed the rule on top of my access list to check if I do somethink wrong but it is not working. When I place only a service for example tcp/23 it is working.
We have a situation where services are stopped on the real servers. The probes fail and we confirm the services are not running on the server. We cannot access the ports from the ACE directly. We can still however acces the VIP on the TCP port (L4 VIP class-map). So we can still telnet to the VIP on the port from thr Client side of the network. This is on ACE 20 Modules deployed in Routed mode. The version of software is A2(3.3).
Tried removing multi-match and loadbalance policies as well as class-map and re-applying then re-appyling the service policy to interface. Same behavior,This is a problem at another level as some services are being monitored by GSS via TCP keep-Alive and this obviuosly causes a problem as the service then never goes off-line.
I have a fresh installation of LMS 4.0 on windows server 2003, when i click to open topology i get error message : ANIServer service may be down or Host name isn't DNS resolvable
i tried pdshow -brief ANIServer ===> service UP
DNS is working using host file in driversetc i restarted the server
I have my internet coming from my DSL modem (of course) and running into my wireless router. Once it is in the router I can't get a connection, period. Not even through any of my router's ethernet ports. This wasn't the case until about 3 o'clock yesterday. If I unplug the cable from my wireless router and plug it directly into my computer it runs fine. If I run it through my Micro-Cell tower and into my computer it runs fine. But if I plug it into a router it won't work through Wi-Fi or Ethernet. I have tested the connections of all the ethernet cables I am using. Figuring it had to be a problem with my router (since it was working earlier and the connection only disappears when plugged into it) so I bought another, same problem. What else could it be? PS: I'm using both a MacBook Bro, a PC, a PS3, and a Nintendo 3DS and none get a signal from the wifi. I always keep the PC hardwired through the ethernet ports on the router and use the wireless for everything else
I've been using the Linksys router e1000 N type for a week now and it hasn't beeen such a great experience. The thing is when i connect the modem to my laptop via ethernet cable internet works but not when i connect the cable to the router even though this worked before. actually a few hours before. so i dont know whats happened to my router since clearly the problem is in there. the modem has lights for PC Cable DATA and POWER. The lights to all of them blink when i have connected the modem directly to laptop but the PC light is non existent when i connect it to router. hence i get no internet access. the routers power is on so i dont know what the prob is ive rebooted it a few times but to no avail.
I got a friends permission to use their wireless internet. I can only connect in a certain spot in the house. I want to connect wirelessly and then share the connection through the ethernet into MY wireless router, and broadcast through my house.
I'm currently running Windows 7, and I have this issue where from time to time I am booted from my internet with the error saying either one of two things, one being; No internet access but it does show I am connected to my router, and the other being; plug in an ethernet cable. My 2 brothers on the other hand are both connected to the same router through cables as well and neither have this issue. Both issues seem to simply fix themselves by just waiting, but the disconnects are killing me.
I'm currently with Bigpond Cable with a CGD24N router and cannot connect the desktop with the ethernet. My laptop works with the ethernet and wireless The router shows the connection as red/orange on the desktop when it should be yellow for 10mbps or green for 100mbps, is this a fault of the router, computer or possible virus?
I just want to know if FTP service can be done without internet? I want to setup my file transfer locally just w/n the campus.. All resources will be centralized in one server..
I have a set up for cable modem internet i would like to share with a laptop. Its a Motorola surfboard cable modem hooked up to my IBM P4 computer through a USB cable. The Ethernet port out of the modem is NOT operational. The IBM computer gets the internet fine in this configuration. I would like to use a SRX200 WiFi router to connect a laptop to my internet using ICS and leaving the IBM computer and router on when i do this.I opened properties on the USB connection and clicked share internet connection. This then set up my Ethernet port to 192.168.0.1.I now want to connect the SRX 200 to the Ethernet port. Its IP is 192.168.1.1.so, do i connect the computers Ethernet port to one the routers Ethernet ports instead of the wan port?Do i turn off the routers DHCP? Do i have to change the routers IP address to make this work? Will i have to assign fixed IP's to my client to make it work?
Can I have 2 Internet providers?I've been with Orange broadband for a few months and it's been unusably slow, so we're cancelling the contract and changing to Sky. Orange are making us trouble-shoot before this can happen, so the preference would be to install Sky, leave the Orange router unplugged and ignore it until the contract ends. Is this realistic? I know both couldn't use the line at the same time, but could we just unplug our Orange router or would it create slow down or not work at all?
you have a Cable Modem and are paying for 30MB/sec download or better service, but the network connection on the cable modem is only 10/100; all very common today.Your network connection is showing it's connected at 100 (computer - router - cable modem)....now on the technical side, remember that a 100 MB network connection can only transfer data at a maximum rate of 12.5 MB/sec (not something the normal home user knows or even thinks about). So here's the question; why would you pay for 30MB/sec download speeds when the cable modem itself can only transfer (in theory) 12.5MB/sec to you over the network?
I live in an apartment and I am forced to only use the apartment's internet service to go online. There are two ways to access the apartments network; via ethernet port or wifi. Once im connected and try to browse, I will first be taken an http login page to enter my username and password. The problem with this is I can only use the username and password for one computer at a time. Trying to get my second laptop to access the web using the same user and password will give me an error saying it is currently being used. As I have two laptops (work and personal), I would like to share the internet connection using a device that will allow either or both machines to connect simutaneously. What device will I need? A router, modem/router, access point, etc? And what configurations should I try?
I have Windows 2008 server running isa server with dedicated ip (which I take from my Internet Service Provider ISP) running my website, if my internet connection is down my website is not accessible from outside world. How can I switch to another ISP using same dedicated ip address when my ISP connection is down?
My Cisco E3000 has slowed it's Ethernet speed so slow that it times out when going to Facebook, YouTube or any site that is complex. It worked fine until one day it just gave up. It's connected to DSL Modem with Ethernet To a Apple Mac G5 power PC There are two other older macs connected via Ethernet, same problem. When I took the router out of the chain, and connected G5 directly to modem, normal internet speed. My firmware is up to date. Both wireless bands work great. When I look at Cisco Connect, everything looks normal. factory settings.
I have this adsl wireless router but my internet connection only has RJ45 directly connected to my PC. My questions is how can I use my ADSL wireless router with this kind of internet connection.. because I really want to make my connection wireless..
Is this a wired or wireless connection issue? Both Who is your Internet Service Provider (ISP)? Comcast..What type of Broadband connection are you using? Cable..What is the exact Make and Model of your Modem, Router or Modem/Router Combo - (Main)Netgear WNR3700v2 / WNR2000v3(secondary) My current setup is the 3700 router is taking the internet from the modem cat5e and spewing the wireless. I would like to have the secondary router use the wireless from router 1 as the internet source and push the internet out of the 4 hardline ports so I can plug my upstairs xbox 360 into the router via cat5e. I'm just kinda new to this and still learning so I'm not sure how to configure the router to do this. I can get into the settings of the router just fine but finding the right settings to tweak is a little difficult.
I fought with trying to hang two old BEFSR41 routers on an incoming TWC cable internet. I have a couple of streams going out and one coming in... and I think there are some collissions going on that cause little Urps in the streams. I thought I could put them on two different subnets. Ha. No luck at all so far. The scheme they gave me used a fixed IP and a subnet of 255.255.255.252... now I think I understand why TWC assigned a subnet of 255....252 - so I could only use ONE router. Their little toy is still routing, mine does it's thing.. that's it. In order to add another router and a totally different group of PC's on the same bandwidth... I'd have to get into their box and change the subnet scheme to something more open.. 255.....248, or maybe back down to 255...255.0 I guess..
I plug it in and connect the computer to it and expect it to work. And it has been doing that without any problems until I bought an iPhone and brought it into the house. I thought it was a fluke, but the day I brought the phone in, my computer started intermittently losing it's connection. If I turn the phone off, the connection comes back on. But what seems really odd to me is that if I right click on the wireless network icon it says I am connected and the strength of the signal is excellent. But then it says no internet access.
Last week the Verizon-supplied DSL modem went bad (wasn't receiving data) and was replaced.
Now I can get Internet direct out of modem, and when I connect it to router the router's Internet light is on, but it seems to stop there. Devices connected to router via Ethernet or wifi don't get Internet.
I'm able to get to the router's admin console via Ethernet and wifi, but no Internet.
I have a wired broadband connection with a modem. My internet service provider does not have Wi-Fi. Can I convert it myself into wi-fi by connecting it to a router. If possible how?
