Sep 17, 2011About two weeks ago, my internet connection became faster. I am not sure if it has to do with my cable ISP doing something or something I did with my computer.
Right around the same time, my connection began disconnecting every two or three days. Before this, I had a rock solid connection for two years.
It will usually reconnect after a minute. Otherwise, when I boot my computer, the problem is solved.
I am certain there is a correlation between the connection speed going up and my connection becoming less stable.
AT&T Global Network Client (VPN Service) Dropping Internet Connection?
Sep 16, 2011I have a work computer...Dell Latitude 6400, AT&T Global Network Client (Company VPN service), using Novatel USB551L from Verizon, with their new 4G LTE. First connect to Verizon, then it automatically launchs ATT Global Network Client, once connected, the system automatically maps drives. I stay on for about 15 minutes average to 40 minutes that's when the Verizon drops/disconnects. This consistantly happens throughout the day!
1. If I connect to a "local" wireless signal NO dropping.
2. If I tether my Sprint Android, NO dropping.
Only dropping with the Verizon. I MUST have the Verizon dedicated to this work computer to run the VPN and hopefully (very soon) a mandated VOIP with Avaya!Called Verizon- they sent me a new USB thinking that might fix it. But same thing. They are showing signal strength 4G. Nothing on their side.

Jun 19, 2011why my wireless connection on my laptop is significantly better than my wired connection to my desktop. Internet ran just fine on the desktop at my old apartment; got to the new place, and now it's having serious issues.
After working on this problem for a while, I have come to the conclusion that for some reason, I am getting serious packet loss, consistently, at a particular "hop" on my desktop, which is not present on the laptop.Here are the Line Quality tests that illustrate the problem better than I could ever describe it in words:

Desktop: Line quality test packet loss and latency | DSLReports.com, ISP Information(and it appears they both fail the initial test, but the laptop connection runs just fine).
So at that one specific hop (ae-1-0.cr0.chi10.tbone.rr.com, I have no idea what that means), my desktop connection suffers serious packet loss while the laptop is more or less OK.This discrepancy is evident in the quality of connection on my desktop, while the laptop runs just fine. Here, in summary, is what I have tried:
-Going wired through laptop using same cables, ports, and router as desktop: laptop performs flawlessly.
-Updating router firmware, NIC card drivers, and Windows on the desktop
-Full virus disk scan and boot scan using Avast; full malware scan using Malwarebytes; Windows disk defrag
-Disabling QoS packet scheduler
-Performing netsh /flushdns; winsock reset; ipconfig release, renew
-(Temporarily) disabling Antivirus program
All of these actions together have made the desktop connection USABLE... however it is by no means an acceptable level of quality for a cable connection, and not nearly as good as any other in the apartment gets using the same connection, whether wired or wireless.The only visible difference I can find between the laptop and the desktop is the packet loss that is present at that one hop in particular, which is extremely debilitating for the desktop's connection.

Dec 9, 2011I have the AE1000 adaptor on my wife's computer and direct wired on mine is the E2000.The e2000 is set to 2.4mhz and when connected to the wireless network, my wifes ae1000 shows it is connected at 144mbps.When I change the e2000 to 5.0 mhz and then my wife connects to the internet, she shows the ae1000 at 16-53 mbps. When I switch back to 2.4 she shows 144. I thought that when the e2000 is connected at 5.0 she should have a "faster connection".

[NO] SSL VPN = remote users can successfully connect to all internal systems. Cannot pass traffic to the Internet.
Hardware:
Cisco 2811, Cisco IOS Software, 2800 Software (C2800NM-ADVIPSERVICESK9-M), Version 12.4(22)T5, RELEASE SOFTWARE (fc3) . Software: Cisco Any Connect Secure Mobility Version 3.1.01065
Single hub router terminating IPSec+GRE site to site, IPSec remote access, and SSLVPN remote access VPN services. All services currently configured and running successfully with the exception of the SSLVPN service. Remote users can initiate and successfully establish SSL VPN sessions. While established, connectivity to all internal systems/resources are successful. Only when the remote access client tries to connect to "Outside" Internet resources does traffic not pass successfully. Troubleshooting has pointed to a NAT related issue (I believe).
When connecting from a remote access workstation, utilizing IPSec remote access client (built-in Cisco IPSec client from Mac OS), the session establishes and the client works flawlessly. Examining the Cisco 2811 router, you see the /32 host route from the remote access session get installed, and you see the corresponding NAT translation entries created when the client accesses outside (Internet) resources. Appropriate configuration to implement "hair pinning" have been included to handle the in and right back out (with NAT translation) needed for remote clients to access the Internet.
Configured the 2811 for SSL VPN, and remote access clients can successfully connect and access all internal network resources. Examining the Cisco 2811, the /32 host route for the remote access client is installed, pointing to SSLVPN-VIF0 interface with a next hop of 0.0.0.0 When checking the NAT translation table, there are NO entries for the remote access client address created which leads me to believe the hair pinning/NAT function is not being invoked for SSLVPN clients.
Originally, the IPSec remote access VPN local pool was 10.0.100.0 /24. To keep from having to adjust the existing NAT translation, PBR Route-MAP for the hair pinning function - I took the 10.0.100./24 and broke it into a pair of /25 networks. Bottom half for the IPSec remote access VPN pool (10.0.100.0 /25); upper half for the SSL VPN pool (10.0.100.128 /25). By utilizing SSL VPN, is the traffic somehow bypassing the DIALER1 interface where both the crypto map (and more importantly: IP NAT OUTSIDE, and PBR configuration for the hair pinning function)? I cant explain why NAT translation entries are not being created for SSLVPN client sessions.
Cisco 2811 Configuration has been included. IPSec & SSL VPN Remote Access Sessions Captures (performed from same remote client) have been included.

May 14, 2011Windows 7 with wireless adaptor connection
I switched to Win. 7, because XP getting slow in general. I've using the brand new Netgear wireless adaptor on Win.7 while the older wireless adaptor is still on XP, but I never use XP after switch to Win.7.
On XP, Wireless connection had no issue at all, however on Win.7, the wireless connection often saying 'not service available' at the right bottom corner.
On XP, Netgear was 150 and Win 7 is 300.
Just wonder whether I should take off the wireless-adaptor from the XP if that would work to boost the wireless connection on Win.7?

Having made diagnose, I had the following message:The distant ring road(peripheral) or the resource does not accept the connection.The ring road(peripheral) or the resource [URL] is not configured to accept the connections on the port " Web Service (HTTP) ".I phoned at my FAI ( Videotron) and having discussed for a long time, it happened at the conclusion that it was a problem of router (when I connect the computer directly on the modem, that works very well).Of an other one quoted(esteemed), a connection Wireless telegraphy works with no problem at all, fortunately because I shall not be here.I am to go to my router D-Link Dir-835 and I returned to the former(old) protection(saving) of the configuration. And now that re-works again. But the enjoyment was short-lived because this morning, the problem returned.What do you think about it? I Should make a reset of my router even if it means re-configuring everything again?

Cisco :: 3600 Connection With Service Provider
Jul 9, 2012I have currently a Cisco 3600 router, it has three interfaces (all ethernet interfaces only).We being a client, our requirement is, we want two links one being the primary and one secondary for the fail over.My ISP has done certain configurations, but I am so puzzled what really has been done. I asked with them and they told that they have provided us one public IP 202.166.217.248 via Fibre--> Media Converter-->Ethernet 0/0.At the same time, they have given us a pool of addresses of the network 202.166.216.48/29 through the interface Ethernet 2/1.And we have used all the available public IPs in the server farm.They have told that, for the failover purpose via wireless, they have even used an IP address 202.166.213.114/25.
Now, where my confusion lies is, cant they provide the pool address via fibre? What is the significance of the ip that has been provided via fibre? What actually is its purpose? Isn't it consuming an extra interface ?Cant we have both the primary and secondary link excluding that one additional process?Or, am not understanding the real working mechanism how ISP distribute the internet?

Aug 28, 2012My modem with single network connectivity (Type I) works fine. I tried to replace with Type II modem (with wifi- and 4 or more ports) for connectivity. I could not establish connection with the server of the service provider. I tried to replace with a different type of typeII modem. Still the same. What could be the reason?I connected the same in a different workplace to a different PC.

Feb 28, 2012We have a situation where services are stopped on the real servers. The probes fail and we confirm the services are not running on the server. We cannot access the ports from the ACE directly. We can still however acces the VIP on the TCP port (L4 VIP class-map). So we can still telnet to the VIP on the port from thr Client side of the network.This is on ACE 20 Modules deployed in Routed mode. The version of software is A2(3.3).
Tried removing multi-match and loadbalance policies as well as class-map and re-applying then re-appyling the service policy to interface. Same behavior,This is a problem at another level as some services are being monitored by GSS via TCP keep-Alive and this obviuosly causes a problem as the service then never goes off-line.

What they would like to do is to place this in their network and NOT have it change (route) the network addresses being assigned to devices 'behind' this router so even their wireless devices are all "on the same network" as the wired devices BEFORE this unit, In essence, preserve the same 'network and subnet mask' that is being issued by their DSL router via it's integrated DHCP server. ... May 9, 2012Inspiron 1720 lost wireless connection after Service tech had me reboot Wireless router for other issue not relating to this computer. Now when I look for wireless connections can not find any. Hard wire works fine. Trouble shoot states there may be a problem with one or more of my network adapters. Not very computer savy....But did find a way to run a Ping test and pass. Clicked on my 1502 Draft 802.11n WLAN Mini card and it states this device is working properly. Opened Broadcom control suite and it shows a Red X on the intergrated controller and the wireless card. with option to run a test or explanation of the Red X.
Do I need a new card or is there something else conflicting with it.. I find it hard to believe the card crashed right when I rebooted the Router...ISP sent a tech out but was not able to find problem.

Jun 16, 2011Can I have 2 Internet providers?I've been with Orange broadband for a few months and it's been unusably slow, so we're cancelling the contract and changing to Sky. Orange are making us trouble-shoot before this can happen, so the preference would be to install Sky, leave the Orange router unplugged and ignore it until the contract ends. Is this realistic? I know both couldn't use the line at the same time, but could we just unplug our Orange router or would it create slow down or not work at all?
