Cisco Wireless :: 121 / AIR-PWRINJ3 - POE To Power WAP
Jun 5, 2012
I bought a Cisco WAP121 and a Cisco AIR-PWRINJ3 so I could use the PoE from the AIR-PWRINJ3 to power the WAP121. Unfortunately the setup is not working, the WAP121 shows no sign of getting power even though the AIR-PWRINJ3 indicates it has power. Is this setup just not supported or do I have defective parts?

I keep getting alerts from our WCS stating that our 1252s are drawing low power. Now I am aware that they require enhanced PoE (up to 20W) but as we only have standard PoE in that building we purchased the 1252 series power injectors to go with them.
However, even with the correct power injectors the WCS still reports the draws low power error.
Is this a bug? Running WCS 7.0.172 at the moment.
Forgot to say we are using the PWR-INJ4 and the injector status is enabled and you see the injector MAC address when you drill in to the AP status.

After stacking two 3750X switches, with four equal power-supply's, with StackWise and PowerStack , still got the next message every few hours %PLATFORM_ENV-1-FRU_PS_ACCESS: FRU Power Supply is not responding (gn4m-rt1p08-04-2)( note that the message revers to the second switch in the stack ) although the stackwise and powerstack on the switches is oke and are working correctly. !
Config : Stack-power in power-sharing mode/strict With CLI on the switch : All the power supply's and stack-power details, prio look OK.
Only: LMS prime /inventory/cisco-view/configure/power supply status result : some power supply's are marked as disabled.with the command > power supply 2 slot a off/on I manage to get the status back to "normal", but after a few hours some power supply's are again marked as "disabled".
Looks like SNMP en IOS difference from opinion.

I have a 6500 chassis with 2 power supplies. At the moment I am using the default configuration:
power-redudancy mode redundant
The problem is that an inserted module is in "power deny" state due too insufficient power.
I know, that It's not a good idea to change into combined mode (loss of redundancy), but my customers requested this anyway.
So I will change to combined mode. So here's the 1 million dollar question: "Which modules will go into power deny, if one of my power supplies fails?"
The 6500 config guide states:
"Power supply is removed withredundancy disabled
• System log and syslog messages are generated.
• System power is decreased to the power capability of one supply.
• If there is not enough power for all previously powered-up modules, some modulesare powered down and marked as power-deny in the show power oper state field."
Well, do you know if there's any way to configure some kind of priority? E.g. I definetly don't want by 10Gig Module or WiSM module to be in power deny. Can i statically make sure, those module will be powered on for sure? Like: "power enable module slot_number" How is this calculated? Or is random?

In a stand alone 3750x switch configuration, can the secondary power supply only act as a redundant power supply (active/standby), or can it become a "pool" of power similar to power sharing mode for StackPower (somewhat active/active)? I understand there is no stack involved here but I'm curious if this functionality is possible.

how to power a WAP200E. In the datasheet it mentions it supports POE, however the customer does not have a POE switch and for one WAP220E is not willing to purchase.
What other options do we have? Is there a power supply for this AP?

My question is about the maximum possible transmitting power in a Cisco 1242AG-E-K9.I did an update of my AP on a new ios version and since then, the maximum power for me is limited to 17 dbm. I check this within the console and the "show controllers dot11radio0 | include Power:" command. I thought that I had 20dbm before the update, but unfortunately I can't proof this by myself because I have no AP left with the old firmware.
Is it possible that the upgrade did this? I read about the regulatory domains for the transmitting power. I live in Switzerland, so I thought I could use 100mW if I want to. I read it's not possible to use the 100mW at each speed but I think I should stull be able to select the 20dbm/100mW or am I missing something?

We have cisco wlc 2125 with 13 AP 1131g. All works good. But after power failure one AP can not join to controller, only reset work to recover connection AP to WLC. Additionally, we don't have access to rs-232 port on AP. In this moment on WLC we can see DISCOVERY request from AP and response from WLC to AP, but AP don't send JOIN to controller.

The below power details are from the 5508 datasheet which lists 115 W as the maximum draw (0.115 kW) however this seems a bit low, is this right?
Input power: 100 to 240 VAC; 50/60 Hz; 1.05 A at 110 VAC, 115 W Maximum; 0.523 A at 220 VAC, 115 W Maximum; Test Conditions: Redundant Power Supplies, 40C, Full Traffic. Heat Dissipation: 392 BTU/hour at 110/220 VAC Maximum Cisco 5500 Series Wireless Controllers Data Sheet: [URL]

I have a Cisco 2125 Wireless Lan Controller and I have problem with hold coverage errors and I had tri different solutions with different antenna, the resume is:The antena gain 10*0,5 Dbi(Using a 5 Dbi antenna or 10 Dbi antenna) with Tx power 1 and the antenna gain 20*0,5 Dbi (using 10Dbi antenna) with Tx power 3 the coverage is the same.
If I try the configuration 20*0,5 gain antenna and Tx power 1 the controller show me one error and the controller don't permit this configuration. Why don't permit this configuration?

I just purchased the Cisco Small Business Wireless-N Gigabit Security Router with VPN (WRVS4400N). I'm moving overseas (to Israel) and noticed that the power supply does not go up to 240V. I then called the Cisco Customer Support and they told me that they don't have another power supply. Although they mentioned that I could probably get the unit in the country I'm going where it would already have the right power supply. Now, what I'm wonder, should I just send this back and figure it out when I get there? Or bring it with the hope of finding the right power supply?

I have a WAP4410N and would like to turn down the power output below 100%.
It has a very strong signal, and is covering our small office and half the parking lot.
In the Administration Guide, under FAQs, it mentions a setting for output power but I cannot find this setting.
The SW version is 2.0.0.5, and that seems to be the latest version - the file I downloaded is WAP4410N-fw-2.0.0.5-K9.img but I haven't installed it yet.

We are planning a wireless network using the 1602i APs. Some of our APs might or might not be within the 100m limit from the switches, so we'll be running them as repeaters instead. Right now, we are planning on buying power injectors for everything, but I can't seem to find an answer to this question:
If I'm running an AP as a repeater (no ethernet running back to a switch), can it still receive power from a power injector and a short ethernet run between the injector and the AP? Or will I need to use a power adapter?
