Cisco Wireless :: 871W In Universal Client Mode Bridging

Jul 21, 2008

I have a 1242 Access Point as root and a 871W Router as a non-root bridge (Diagram attached). I have a laptop connected to Fa 0 of the 871W router.

* I am able to ping from the AP to the Router and vice versa
* I am also able to ping from the router to the laptop and vice versa
* But I am not able to ping from the laptop to the AP

All bridging commands seem to be fine. Even tried adding route commands, but none seem to work. Please find the configuration below:

D-Link DIR-825 :: Shareport Does Not Work In Bridging Mode

Feb 17, 2013

I realized that when I connect dir825 on bridging mode to my current voip router provided by my ISP (dvg-n5402) ,shareport does not work as it seems to be using the default gateway to find the usb, which in this case default gateway goes to the gateway of my voip router. Is there any way that I can make shareport use the gateway of my dir825 instead?

Cisco WAP4410N In Wireless Client / Repeater Mode?

May 26, 2012

1) Apparently, my Cisco modem likes to assign new IP addresses to things, so I didn't figure out the web access page until an hour in (was NOT 192.168.1.245)

2) Do I input the same IP address, subnet, DNS and default gateway as my Cisco modem? It has a wireless router and switch bundled in, should I use the wireless network's MAC address or the wired?

Currently, it's set to 'automatically configure':

IPv4
Local IP Address: 192.xxx.x.xx
Subnet Mask: 255.xxx.xxx.x
Default Gateway: 192.xxx.x.x
Primary DNS: 64.xx.xxx.xxx
Secondary DNS: 0.0.0.0

I can access the page fine, but I cannot get the wireless client working...

3) I did a site survey and found my existing network and inputted its SSID and MAC address, but nothing happens. I still get one bar on my wireless devices indicating the AP isn't working.

Cisco Wireless :: WAP4410N Work In Client-Repeater Mode?

Dec 7, 2009

I have purchased 4 of these devices about 2 months ago and have experienced all of the issues reported within this thread.  The came with the 2.0.0.5 FW rev installed, so unless the 2.0.0.5 on the cisco DL site is different, nothing I can do with that.I've tried making them work as stand alone AP's, Bridge<-> Bridge, etc... all modes seem to lock up eventually needing a reboot to get any functionality back.Ultimately, I need to make them work in AP<->Client-Repeater mode.  I've not been successful in making them work in any mode for a prolonged period of time.

having just rfound this thread today, I have not tried hard coding the NIC's to 100/full, but will give it a try.  If it works, great, but then that would defeat the purpose of buying an N radio AP.  I would like the potential 300Mbps throughput.

Cisco Wireless :: 1242 - Bridge Mode With Mobile-client Enabled

Sep 5, 2011

What kind of hardware are people using for mobile bridges? I have not had good luck with Cisco 1242's in bridge mode with mobile-client enabled. The only reason we're using the Cisco access point over standard industrial bridges is because we need to manually forward the mac addresses of the devices behind the bridge. These are being installed on robotic forklifts. They have a generic ethernet scrolling marquee installed that does not maintain any active connections and drops from the fowarding table in the bridge if not staticly configured. I'm looking for an alternative because the roaming is not nearly as smooth as it should be.

TP-Link 150Mbps Wireless :: TL-WR702N - Can't Access Internet In Client Mode

May 7, 2013

Region : UnitedKingdom
Model : TL-WR702N
Hardware Version : V1
Firmware Version : 4.18.114 Build 130314 Rel.39604n
ISP :

I've setup my nano router in client mode and successfully connected it to my existing wireless network by manually setting it's IP address to 192.168.1.2. The existing router has the IP address 192.168.1.1.

I know this has worked as I'm able to access the web management page from any computer in the house by visiting the IP address 192.168.1.2. So far so good.

However, my problem is that the nano router cannot speak to the internet. If I login to the web management page and go to diagnostics, I can ping every other device on the network fine, but I can't ping anything outside the network (e.g. 8.8.8.8 or [URL].

I've tried in vain to get this setup correctly, all I can assume is that the nano router isn't correctly determining that the existing router (192.168.1.1) is where it should be routing all external requests and they're just getting lost, but there's no configuration for that on the web management pages.

Enabling DHCP on the TP-Link does seem to convince the TV that it is connected to a router, but still not to the internet. Strangely though, I can control the TV via the Android app operating on the local network, so clearly it is connected. I assume the SmartTV is trying to get a response on the local network that the TP-Link is filtering out for some reason, but no idea why.

Cisco Wireless :: WAP4410 Doesn't Just Make A Universal Power Injector

Oct 10, 2011

Contrary to the information contained in the link above, these two parts do not play well together. I purchased both and plugged them in and no go. It doesn't even light anything on the WAP. It worked fine when it was on its own 12V DC adapter but not plugged into this injector. What I don't understand is why Cisco doesn't just make a Universal power injector that is essentially a 1 port switch and is 802.3af or 802.3at compatible. Its maddening. It looks like I'm going to have to get an SD208P and waste 6 ports just to get one with the correct POE for the WAP4410.

I have also set my power plan to allow for Maximum Performance which I thought disabled PSP but the log is still showing errors. As a final note, after I reconnected by ip address (192.168.1.107) doesn't show up in "sh ip dhcp bindings" but I'm working. To correct the situation, I have to disconnect and the reconnect to the AP and then I am good for another day or close to it. My main question would be, would enabling VTP Transparent on my 6509 affect all of the access switches it is connected to? And if so, would changing all of the access switches to VTP Transparent allow them to regain connectivity quickly with little downtime? Or is there another way that I should be handling this situation to enable the extended VLANs?

Cisco Switching/Routing :: Set Port Vlan On 6509 Running In Vtp Client Mode

Jan 14, 2013

I'm working at a company that has several 6509 switches running CatOS.  They have two of the 6509's running in vtp server mode and the rest as clients.  I set up a new vlan from one of the vtp servers and it propagated out.  The problem comes when I try to assign a port on one of the vtp clients to this new vlan.  It gives me an error that the switch must be in vtp server mode to add/delete vlans.  I'm not trying to add/or delete a vlan just trying to add a port into an existing vlan.  I'm hesitant to put the switch in vtp server mode.  Is this a CatOS thing or is there a specific command to accomplish this?
