View 3 Replies View RelatedI'm doing a project on trilateration in which is required to list the BSSID and power levels from the APs, since we have alot of Cisco Aironet 1100 deploye here, could this be a choice ?
My first try is to get these values using snmp, but so far had no luck finding the right MIB. I don't think the console might be useful, will it ?
I know I'm assuming alot, that the Aironet enables for a 'iwlist' dump, and that these values can be retrieved through snmp. But seems something reasonable for them to have, even if I haven't found it.
I'm attempting to update the software on three aironet 1100 from System Software Filename:c1100-k9w7-tar.122-13.JA2 System Software Version:12.2(13)JA2 Bootloader Version:12.2(8)JA To the latest release or the 12.3x family and it fails."the software upgrade was interrupted and was not able to be completed" I also disabled the Radio braodcast?

We have 5 Cisco Aironet 1100 wireless access points and we are having huge problems in the last few days with them disconnecting some mobile barcode scanners that we have.
We have two Aironet's in the top of the factory which work fine and 3 down the bottom which keep kicking the barcode scanners off. If we use the barcode scanners at the top of the factory they work fine, as soon as we come down to the other 3 WAPs it they keep connecting and disconnecting.
We get the following error in the Event log on the access points.Disassociated because sending station is leaving (or has left) BSS On the barcode scanners. [code]

View 12 Replies View RelatedI have dozens of Cisco Aironet 1100 access points, each is managing its own wi-fi with DHCP. I had to disable dhcp on them because they are on a wired subnet where I am using the static IPs and don't want my wired clients to get DHCP addresses, nor someone to be able to plug the wire into own laptop and get on the network. It's been working fine with one exception - I need to be able to ping my access points from the central site, and I can't. What IOS command would enable ICMP echo on my access points in this case?

View 5 Replies View RelatedI'm setting up a Cisco Aironet 1141 (standalone mode, AP) to handle wireless traffic in the office. It gives out 2 mbssids, one of which authenticates domain users through a RADIUS server and places them in an appropriate VLAN (RADIUS options 64, 65, and 81). The other is a guest ssid that uses WPA-PSK and places users in the restricted guest VLAN. Physically, the AP is connected to a 3750 PoE Catalyst, to which RADIUS and DHCP servers are also connected. AP, SSIDs, RADIUS and EAP authentication all work. The configuration given below is a working configuration. People do get authenticated and do get placed in the appropriate vlan. The problem is that, once authenticated, the "Obtaining IP Address" phase on the client hangs and most clients timeout without getting an IP address. Given that the DHCP server is on the same switch and a test simple ASUS Wi-Fi IP gives out the same scenario (except the multiple VLAN) at the speed of light, I don't think that it's a problem with the network connections between clients and the DHCP server. After reading some topics here, I realized that probably other communication will be extremely slow, as well, but haven't tested that for sure. Clients are all non-Cisco - smartphones, notebooks, etc. Most of them are 802.11G, not N.
View 4 Replies View RelatedWe have a Cisco Aironet 1130AG Wireless AP (firmware 12.4) and have a guest wireless network (internet only) and corporate wireless network configured on it. They are kept separate by having different VLANs assigned to them. When a laptop connects to the guest network I see the DHCP request go out and it is tagged with the correct VLAN. The problem is when a laptop connects to the corporate network I see the DHCP request go out but there is no VLAN tagged on the packets. This causes a problem because both of our DHCP servers (on VLAN 1 and 3, remote DHCP servers no DHCP running on the Aironet [Doesn't seem like this version has a DHCP server]) are sending responses and sometimes the corporate user will get an IP address on the Guest subnet.
Our corporate network is setup on VLAN 1 which is configured as the Native VLAN on the Aironet. Will this cause the Aironet not to tag these packets with any VLAN information? Any other thoughts as to why it isn’t tagging these packets to a VLAN?
I have just setup a new WLC 2504 controller to manage a WiFi service that will span 6 geographic locations. The local networks at each location are on different subnets (all 192.168.x.x) and are linked up via IPSEC VPN links, and there is Active Directory spanning the sites, with DNS and DHCP servers running at each location.
I tested the WLC at our main office with a single AP, and it worked fine. The AP set itself up, and wireless devices connect with no probs. Great! Yesterday I headed out to one of our remote sites, and connected an AP to their network - and that seemed to work fine too. Within a few minutes I was able to see the WiFi network I'd setup, and my smartphone connected to it straight away (as I'd rpeviously connected at the main office), so I was pretty happy that all was working well.
This morning however I've had notification that wifi performance at the remote site isn't great. I've got someone to check their ip address, and I've found that their IP address and default gateway match the LAN at the main office where the WLC is based - NOT the LAN where the wireless client is. Obvioulsy this is not ideal!
(I guess I HAVE done something wrong!?). And how can I get wireless clients at remote sites to pick up an IP from the DHCP server at THEIR site?
Need simple configuration for the Aironet 1142N? Optimally, I would like to place 802.11b/g traffic on the 2.4 GHz band and 802.11n traffic on the 5 GHz band.

I have a AIR-SAP-1602i-k9 Aironet. I cannot find any information on the Cisco site on how to configure the Aironet without a controller. I assumed a standalone meant I could just login.
I tried seeing if it would pull a DHCP address on my network but it didnt.
I set up one AP-1041 that runs standalone IOS. No controller. I have three more that I want to copy the setup configuration over to. I have the right document, but which commands will get my set configuration from AP one FTP'd to my computer and how to copy that configuration back to another AP of the same model. This way I will only need to tweak a couple settings on the additional AP's instead of starting from scratch.

View 9 Replies View RelatedWe have recently aquired a remote location which has a pre-existing flat network (172.16.X.X/16). Before we are able to convert them over to our new IP scheme, they have a need to have wireless connectivity on site. We have 4 1142's which I need to configure for them. I have experience configuring WLC's and autonomous AP's for networks with multiple vlans but have never configured AP's for a flat, single subnet network. I need to configure them for either guest access (internet only) or corporate access to network resources with radius authentication. Do I configure a native vlan as I would for a typical multi vlan network? Do I configure the switch port as an access port as opposed to a trunk beacause of the lack of layer 3? I basically need a sample configuration for this situation.

View 4 Replies View RelatedWith this customer they have 4 floors with on each floor a Cisco Aironet 1130AG. At the moment they are using WEP as a protection with a really long key. The users find this annoying, but I am more concerned about the security perspective. So I want to implement WPA2 with a shorter key for the people to remember. On one floor, I also want to add a public network when other people want to connect and just need internet access. How to change the current set-up and regarding the security and implementation. If all of the Access Points could work togheter and just be 1 wireless network. I don't know if this is possible and how to do it? For the public network I know there also need to be some changes in VLAN's. The firewall is a cisco ASA5505.
At the moment I am running this configuration: I tried setting up this with the GUI, but it doesn't look like the configuration at the moment is shown in the GUI or maybe I am just looking in the wrong places. [code]
how i can configure a second ssid for guest access in our environment. this is our network setup prior to this request: Internet----Firewall (not ASA)---ce520---C1131AG and CME router is also connecting to the ce520 switch. we only have two vlans: one for voice and two for data.
Presently, there is no vlan configured on the AP because it on broadcasting ont ssid and wireless users gets IP from a windows DHCP server on the LAN. the configuration on the ce520 switch port for the AP and other switches say access vlan is the DATA vlan which automatically becomes the native vlan for all trunk port connecting the AP and other Stiches to the network.
Now with this new requirement, i have made my research and i have configured the AP to broadcast both the production and the guest Vlans. The two vlans are 20-DATA and 60-Guest. I made the DATA vlan on the AP the native vlan since the poe switch is using the DATA vlan as native on the trunk ports. I configured the firewall to serve as DHCP server for the guest ssid and i have added the ip helper-address on the guest vlan interface on all switches while the windows server remains the dhcp server for the production DATA Vlan. I have confirmed that the AP, switches can ping the default gateway of the guest dhcp server which is another interface on the firewall. I can now see and connect to all broadcasted ssids but the problem is I am not getting IP addresses from both the production dhcp server and guest dhcp server when i connected to the ssid one at a time. My AP config is attached below.
Do i need to redesign the whole network to have a native vlan other nthan the data vlan? Does the access point need to be aware of the voice vlan? Do the native Vlan on the AP need to be in Bridge-group 1 or can i leave it in bridge-group 20?
I know this question was asked many times, but I'm still not able to finalize my configuration on 871w. LAN part works fine, but wireless clients do not get DHCP IP. here is the config:
