Cisco Wireless :: Root 1410 Bridge Not Showing RSSI Poll In Event Log
Apr 18, 2013
A customer has a wireless PTP bridge using a pair of 1410 bridges. The non-root bridge event log shows the RSSI polling information message indicating the link's signal strength; ie. -42 dBm. It updates every few seconds or so. The root bridge does not show this information in the event log. Both bridges have the event log configuration options set identically, all messages types are enabled. I can't find any reference to this in the documents. Is this by design? I thought that maybe a root bridge if it was set up as a multi-point might be overwhelmed if it was showing/scrolling RSSI from multiple non-roots.
We have a problem with a Cisco 1400 Bridge. This equipment can not bridge to the other root or not root mode. I can see a message "Interface Dot11Radio0 Radio transmit power out of range" and the MAC Address of Dot11Radio0 appears with 0000.0000.0000.I set the local power to 18 but the MAC Address is still in 0000.0000.0000.
how far apart an Aironet 1410 Bridge can be from the Power Injector (Dual Coax feeds). I just can't find the specification details. The device comes with a 20' and 50' F-type and I'm looking at 150' runs for both ends of the bridge pair.
I've been getting warning messages from the event log of a 1300 series bridge, which is set as an Access Point in the network, states: 'Packet to client (mac address) reached max retries, removing the client'; I'm not sure why the client is removed. Does 'reached max retries' mean that the client has tried to many times to connect to the AP/Bridge?
We have a root AP whose status light is showing solid red. We power cycled it and it still shows solid red. According to the Cisco documentation, this indicates a firmware failure. Unfortunately, we did not get Smartnet with this access points and instead opted for the limited lifetime warranty.
My question is: is there any way to fix the firmware via console? Whether it be through xmodem or what not. I ran debugs on the controller and can confirm that the AP is not communcating with the controller.
It is also weird that the mesh APs that were previously connected to this root AP show a solid red on their status lights and green for their RF LEDs. Shouldn't the status LED be flashing green-amber-red?
I want to connect two buildings. Let's call them Building A (main) and Building B.
„A“ is the main building and provides a wired LAN to an AAA server (192.168.1.2) and the WAN gateway (192.168.1.1). There I placed a 1262N with the IP 192.168.1.3 connected to the wired LAN and configured it as Root-Bridge. Let's call it AP01.
„B“ is a pretty large building and has a wired LAN from one end to the other end. So I placed two 1262N there, each at one end.
The first 1262N is configured as non-root Bridge (AP02) and connects to the Root Bridge (AP01). The IP address of AP02 is 192.168.1.4.
The second 1262N is configured as Access Point (AP03) and connects to the non-root Bridge (AP02) via the wired LAN. The IP adress of AP03 is 192.168.1.5
My Questions:
1. Do I need tell AP02 about the AAA Server in Building A or acts AP01 like a AAA Proxy for AP02 because of it Root Bridge functionality?
2. How Do I tell AP03 that it should use AP02 as a gateway to building A?
i got the problem with 1300 bridges, root bridge with omni antenna and non root with sector antenna , it can associate and can pin each other , but whenever i try to browse several web pages its get timed out and radio was down.
I config vlans 21-23 on 3750 A and B switches.I config B switch to be Root Bridge for all vlansspanning-tree vlan 1,21-23, priority 4096 sh span tree on B switch 3750B# sh spanning-tree.
I have two 6509s both with single FWSMs running in transparent mode with bridged Inside and Outside VLANs.I have my Core A set to STP priority of 8192 and Core B set to 16,384 to make Core A the root for all VLANs.Problem I have is when I look at spanning-tree on Core A for Inside VLAN 324 it states to get to the Root go via PO100 (Cost of 9) and that the Root also has a Priority of 8192, but as the designated Root has a lower MAC address it's pointing to the etherchannel. PO100 is L2 Etherchannel between the Cores.Moving accross PO100 to Core B and running the show spanning-tree command I can see that to get to the Root Bridge I need to go via PO272. PO272 is the internal Etherchannel to get to the FWSM on the Core B Switch. This shows a cost of 6 to get to the Root and a mac address of the Root Bridge which resides on Core A (Outside VLAN 124)To give some perspectibe, theoutside VLAN of the pair has it's STP ROOT on the Core A switch as intended?
I have an Extremely Old switch that I need to connect to my network. Because it is so old I don't want it to become the Root Switch.
what is the command to change the priority. (Honestly I don't remember if it has to be a lower number 1 or a higher number ). Always get that mixed up. I've read about root guard, but I would like to prevent it manually. (It is a small network after all)It is a Cisco 2950.
Any working configuration between two BR1310's in Root/Non-root mode? The documentation is vary vague and i can't find anything more secure than WEP. Is it possible to use WPA with radius authentication?
When a ap1121G joins WLC4404,it shows a normal heatmap in WCS. But when a ap1121G joins WLC5508,the RSSI in whole coverage is almost -35 dbm.I copy the heatmaps to the attached files.
I have a desktop PC where the only internet connection is via a 'USB mobile broadband dongle'.I have connected the PC via ethernet cable to the ethernet port on a d-link wifi router (which isn't connected to the internet).I'd like to be able to connect other non-PC devices (eg my mobile phone) to the router via wifi in order to connect to the internet. To do this, I gather that one possible solution is to bridge the LAN and dongle connections. My first problem is that in 'Network Connections', only my USBdongle connection is shown (see pic) - there is no icon for the LAN/ethernet. In device manager, the "Atheros AR5007EG Wireless Network Adapter" and "Realtek PCIe FE Family Controller" are both showing without any ?'s etc
Other info:I'm running Windows 7 Home Premium 64 on a HP Pavilion All-in-one MS200 desktop.
When I view web page of 1410 radio is show ethernet enabled and up but radio as disabled and down. I have tried to enable but to no avail. Is this a sign my radio has gone bad?
I have a point to point link of 9.27 km using 1410 bridges and AIR-ANT58G28SDA-N antennas as per the documentation that would be an easy to deploy link and it should work at 54 Mbps, eventhough it drops the link, it's so slow and the power measurments indicate -70 dbm (aprox) right under the antenna which is at 9 m height.
This is not the first time I have troubles with 1410 bridges, the other two times I had to change them for 1310 bridges. I wonder if it has to do with some configuration tunning like, external antena gain, link distance or anything else? By the wat this is ocurring in México don't know if that might be worth of taking into consideration in order to deploy a 1410 link.
OID to retrieve the RSSI from a Cisco 819 3G router? I've just run a MIB walk using Solarwinds MIB walker and it doens't seem to find anyting relating to RSSI, but brings back thousands of other OID information.
i am searching for the right SNMP-OID to poll the values of the CPU-load from a VSS (6509E)here a OID for VSS-Switch1 and a other OID for VSS-Switch2 values like cli-command "sh proc cpu" of the supervisor-module in slot 5.
if there is a MIB available for the EHWIC-4G-LTE-V card that would allow me to monitor the current RSSI level?
If I issue the command "show cell 0/1/0 radio" on my Cisco2911 router, I get the following info. I'd like to monitor the "Current RSSI" level in Solarwinds.
Router>show cell 0/1/0 radio Radio power mode = ON Current RSSI = -67 dBm LTE Technology Preference = AUTO LTE Technology Selected = LTE
I have two 1410 bridges installed in a point to point link using external directional antennas. The distance between the bridges is only 200M. As you can see below from the output the RSSI and SNR are excellent with a good fade margin available. These stats are almost identical to what my path profile calculated out to be. During normal operation the latency on this link sub 2ms, during certain conditions the latency jumps to 40+ms and starts dropping packets. I say certain conditions because we have not been able to pinpoint it. Unfortunately at this time the customer does not have the ability to do any SNMP polling or collect any statistical information (working on getting this setup). There are an excessive number of data retries and am not sure if that is normal. During the issues I have observered the below command output and the numbers did not change, which leads to me believe that it is not a RF issue. It almost looks like it's serialization delay, but I have no data to back that up. During iperf performance testing of this wireless link I could push 54Mbps of UDP traffic no problem, no errors, no CRC's.
Bridge Parameters Encryption: WPA-PSK w/TKIP Distance parameter: Configured to 1
I have two Nexus 7010 in the data center. I'm unable to poll SNMP data from one of the NEXUS 7010s. The other Nexus 7010 is working fine. I have compared the SNMP configurations, and they are identical. When I do "show snmp" on the non-working switch, I have SNMP packets in "Unknown Context name", not sure why. I have done show vdc and it matches the working switch output. Here is output of show snmp from the non-working switch: 133 SNMP packets input 0 Bad SNMP versions 0 Unknown community name 0 Illegal operation for community name supplied 0 Encoding errors 0 Number of requested variables 0 Number of altered variables 0 Get-request PDUs 0 Get-next PDUs 0 Set-request PDUs 0 No such name PDU 0 Bad value PDU 0 Read Only PDU 0 General errors 0 Get Responses 133 Unknown Context name0 SNMP packets output 0 Trap PDU 0 Too big errors 0 No such name errors 0 Bad values errors 0 General errors 0 Get Requests 0 Get Next Requests 0 Set Requests 0 Get Responses 0 Silent drops.
1. When creating job or log file, these files are always stored in the default Path (inside LMSROOT) for RME for example...Could I change RME default Path to store these files in another location inside the Hard Disk?
2. Could I Configure CW-LMS to send all the reports to me by mail?
3. What is the Difference between Poll Interval time and Collection time inside RME?
my computer is a dell dimension 1100, with a Linksys WMP54G wifi card, running vista home basic. In the wifi thing in the notification area, it shows two wireless networks, One is my normal SSID (Lower Net), and one is "Unidentified network". They are both on one wireless connection (Wireless Network Connection 3). When i try to go on the internet, it says i'm not connected. i tried disconnecting from the unidentified network, but that disconnects me from lower net too.
Since we upgrade WLC in version 7.0.230 my PC with atheros card (version client 8.0.140 and driver 9.2.0.419) have brief interruption. In System events we have a lot of events ID 4201 and 1007. I try use Windows Wireless Client and we have not problem but the roaming is not fast. I don't find other client Utility for Atheros.
I want to link them using fiber as they are almost 50 meters apart. What connectors should I use and what fiber optic cable can be connected to those connectors.I have found these connectors and cables on internet will these work
I have a (single) client (it is a cisco IOS router) behind a wireless workgroup bridge (cisco1242).The client's IP address is obtained via DHCP from the wired network. Now, when roaming occurs, the Client will never have knowledge about this event, and hence will not renew its IP address until lease expiers. This is not a problem of course when Layer 2 roam occurs, but with Layer 3 roam it will interrupt the traffic.
The cisco's IP Mobile implementation does have this issue addressed in DCCoA scenario: the WGB is configured to send an SNMP trap on its dotradio state change;the cisco mobile router is configured with snmp-server manager to process this trap and start DHCP renew on the Down/Up event. Unfortunately, this works in Mobile IP scenario only because I cannot make it work without the mobile router registered with a home agent.
how to force DHCP renew on a client (cisco IOS router) in such a situation - event scripting, SLA, or ...?
I am trying to configure repeater mode on an AP, but the authentication is not working. It seems the authentication is seen as EAP-TLS on the ACS 5.2, but im trying to do LEAP.
I have a toshiba satellite 1410 s173 laptop running windows xp.It has a 3 com megahertz 3cxm 356 modem with a yelleow exclamation point beside it, with a code ten error in device manager.
