View 11 RepliesI have just received a Cisco SF 200E-24P switch and need to upgrade the firmware. The current version is 1.0.0.12 an need to load the latest (or at least 1.1) to get CDP etc. However when I use the upgrade option in the switch I get an error of.Firmware Image download through HTTP failed. Wrong File Type.I have tried 3 different versions of the firmware and get the same error message each time.

My query is: How does one do a password reset on a WCS server? Or failing that, is there a way I can ascertain the current unknown password?
I have access to the actual server itself, but not the WCS application. Searching around Cisco.com shows that apparently there is a utility that can be used to reset usernames and passwords however I can't seem to find it. The WCS version is: 4.2.62.11
I'm having a little issue with some Cisco Aironet1242ag WAP's. I receive a call at least twice a month stating that some of the WAP's are not giving out internet connection. What I always do is go to my patch panel and disconnect those WAP's not working and connect them back again so they can power cycle. These WAP's are connected to a Cisco3750g. Once the WAP's boot up, the users can connect to the WAP and connect to the internet.
I don't know if these WAP's are filling up with some information that causes the access points to not connect to the WAN.
My wireless works fine when I am at home, but when I go into a cafe where there is wireless I need to go through the whole troubleshooting process (takes 3-5 min) to reset the wireless adapter (I think those are the words). In one particular location called Popovers I can seem to get access at all anymore. Whats strange is that whenever I go through that troubleshooting process in other locations, I always get the following message at some point : Cant connect in Popovers When I look at the Windows diagnostic

There is no network offered in "Wireless network connections", like the reset deleted it. What can I do about this?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have the latest firmware 1.9 I think. Periodically (every other day) nothing can connect to the wireless. I have to power down the device (which usually means the whole network cabinet since that is easiest then flip it back on.) I don't know if this is part of the problem but I have 5 wireless devices that try to connect depending on the time of day. However once this happens none can connect.
View 13 Replies View RelatedI have a Cisco aironet 3502i access point which I am using with a 5500 Wireless Controller. I was configuring the AP for flexconnect and accidentally enabled PPPoE authentication - but never set configured login details for PPPoE. Now when the AP boots up it tries to use PPPoE but fails - it never even looks for an IP address. I have no way to get the AP connected to the controller again.I tried logging into the AP via console, the AP gives me output but I never get a login, even when I hold down the Mode button during startup.I also tried holding the Mode button and waiting for the AP to boot with its default IP (10.0.0.1) and connecting to the AP via telnet, but I was unable to connect or even ping with my PC on the same network configured as 10.0.0.2.What can I do to set this AP back to defaults, to become a normal DHCP client, and reconnect to the wireless controller where I can reconfigure it?
View 9 Replies View RelatedMy linksys router reset itself. Yes it reset itself. It resets to default paramaters. I had to change the router parameters in the webpage with the wired connection to the router. That works fine, but after a day or say it comes back to default again. I am going crazy, I am sure nobody is pressing the little button on the router. Do I have virus or something or maybe the router is going bad. It's a WRT54G.

The network I was trying to set up didn't quite work out so I tried to set it back to how they were but forgot how they were. Is there a way to delete the Wireless Network Connection and let it create a new one or is there a "standard" setting for this to strictly find a wireless network and connect to it?

1) How long do you press the reset button, the manual says 10 seconds, is that correct?
>> 12 SECONDS
2) Once reset, is wireless turned on by default? I hope so, but the manual shows ENABLE WIRELESS unchecked... is that the default setting? Do I HAVE TO CONNECT VIA LAN CABLE TO "ENABLE WIRELESS" first?
>> YES
3) is the default ssid = "dlink" (no quotes)
>> YES
4) is the SSID invisible by default, or is it visible immediately after RESET?
>> IT IS VISIBLE AFTER RESET
The person on the other side can't access the router with a LAN cable, so once reset, the only way to get into the router will be via wireless; that's why I want to be sure I can do this before we do the reset.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI have a WCS, four 5508 controllers, Cisco 3750X switches, and both autonomous Cisco 1200, and LightWeight 3502i in service. The problems I am having, is that some of my Access Point reset for no apparent reason, and I get alerted by my NMS.When I look at the switch port, that connects an access point that reported down, I see the POE switch port went down and back up in 4 seconds, just long enough for the access point to reset. There are no errors on the switch port(s). No cable or speed/duplex issues. Switch IOS: c3750e-universalk9-mz.122-55.se1
There are no other pertinent entries in the switch log. Just that the port went down and then back up. Always in 4 seconds. When a reset happens the WCS reports on the access point: '802.11/b/g/n' interface of AP associated to controller 172.20.0.x is down. Reason: Indicates that while the radio state should be updated on controller, no reset should be reported. But nothing else, except that the radio came back up.
This is happening two or three times a day, and rotates. It seems that it never happens at the same time of the day, or the same access point, or the same switch. (I have over 1000 access points and 500 switches in service)I am curious if the WCS is automatically resetting the access point radios, which is causing the switch port to go down/up?And if so, is it possible to turn off the automatic reset?
We have two autonomous access point 1142 series running 12.4(21a)JA1 and randomly the Dot11Radio0 interface goes into reset/down state. At first I thought it was something related to power consumption issue on the switch, but looking at the remaining (w) I have plenty.

I have a few questions about the Cisco WAP2000 we setup for our customers that I have experienced as of late.
1. The AP is prone to reset automatically; what causes the access point to do this and how can this be prevented?
2. The AP has the SSID and the encryption reset back to factory defaults, however the IP address does not get reset. What would cause this?
3. Is it possible to use 2 of the Cisco WAP2000 as a repeater to increase signal strength of another Cisco WAP2000 that has interference from another stronger signal?
I have a problem with my router 861w and I don't know from where is this problem.
I have attached a hard drive on one of the Ethernet port of the router and I'm accessing this hard drive thru my laptop which is wireless connected. The problem is that when I start to transfer larger files from the hard drive to my laptop and the speed gets more or less 4 Mb / s the wireless card reset's and never go up after that. I have to reset the router by unplug it from the power source and then to transfer again.
