Linksys Wireless Router :: Configuring WRT54G With New TP-Link 740n?
Jun 16, 2012I have a Linksys WRT54g router that works fine, but the signal is not very good on some points of the house.So I bought a TP-Link 740n to use as a second router. My idea is to connect both routers with a 10 meters lan cable that I have, to make the signal better on points that are distant from the main router (Linksys) or separated by walls. When job is done, will I see two different networks (one for each router) on my laptop or only the "original" signal (WRT54g)?

TP Link Td W8951nd - Connecting To Router / Configuring Settings?
Feb 3, 2013I now have a tp link td w8951nd.
The problem is, I wanted to log into the router to reconfigure some of the settings and to see if I have the option of using a VPN, only the router will not let me connect. I pinged the router and established that the installation engineer had changed the default LAN ip but whenever I try to navigate to this ip address by. Browser (Firefox) says unable to connect.I have tried a wired connection and rebooting procedures.

Dec 6, 2012I have the following network setup. I have a dynamic IP address from my ISP. I connect my fiber to a D-Link DIR-645 and set up my wireless network. The coverage is kind of poor in my son's room so I use a D-Link Powerline Homeplug 501AV to extend internet to my son's room. I connect one Homeplug to the DIR-645 and set the other Homeplug in the power outlet in my son's room. It works if I connect his PC or Xbox via an ethernet cable to the Homeplug in his room. Since he has both PC and XBox I have connected a D-LINK DIR-100 to the Homeplug and have two ethernet cables connecting to his PC and Xbox. Here is the problem. I don't get an internet connection to the DIR-100.How shall I configure the two routers to work?

I have two wireless routers:
TP Link TL-WR841ND
and
TP Link TL-WR541G
I would like to:
use the TL-WR541G for my children wireless laptop, wireless ipad and wireless iphones.
I can turn this unit off at a specific time each evening as I wish.
The WR841ND is used for my wireless laptop, wired iMac, wired Roku stream player and wired Voip adapter.
I tried a few things but really do not know what I am doing and I cannot get both wireless routers to access the internet.
What I tried so far:
Cable modem ethernet out to the input on the WR841ND router. took one of the four hardwire outputs from the WR841ND and ran into the input on the WR541G I powered on the cable modem....it booted... i then powered each router up and waited for each to boot. I launched web browser and navigated to : http://192.168.0.1/ this allowed me to setup the WR841ND router.

How do I set up the second router? I tried to disable the DHCP server on router 2 (WR541g) and change the IP but don't know what to change it to.

Sep 27, 2011I have a single WRT54G v5 that has treated me very well over the years. I have too many devices right now and I'd like to throughput of N, but have failed to find one that is measurably faster or as stable than my current equipment. Most recently I tried a D-Link DGL-4500 and regardless of hours of configuration, research and support I was left with slower-than-expected speeds and dropped connectivity about once a day.
I want to be able to stream media to all 3 BoxeeBox's simultaneously while browsing the internet on a few of my devices and I don't want to have to reboot my router daily or even weekly.
So far I have come to a preliminary conclusion that a solid setup for me would be a ZyXEL ZyWALL USG20 and 2 to 3 Ubiquiti UniFi AP's. While the USG20 does intimidate me, I have several solid network admins that have told me they'll set up the network for me and walk me through it.

Jun 28, 2011Configured a DP-G310 Print Server to work with the DIR 655? I have upgraded the firmware so I have WPA Security. I have typed in the WPA key in the DP-G310 setup. The DIR 655 sees the DP-G310 but it won't assign it an IP address. I can see the DP-G310 MAC address in the DIR 655 wireless status page but the IP is 0.0.0.0 and it disappears and reappears in the wireless connections list.

Jan 28, 2013I need to front-end my ISP's router with another, giving me a DMZ. I have bought an EA2700 for this but I can't find how to configure it.
I plan to have the DMZ network as 10.1.2.0/24, with the ISP's router at 10.1.2.254 and the EA2700's "upstream" connection as 10.1.2.1. The internal network (where most of the clients reside) will then be 10.1.1.0/24, with the EA2700 itself at 10.1.1.254 and a DHCP range 10.1.1.100 upwards.
On the basic setup screen I've set the Internet connection type to fixed IP, 10.1.2.1; I've set its default gateway and DNS1 as the ISP's router at 10.1.2.254. Then further down in network setup I've entered the *internal* address 10.1.1.254 and set the DHCP range and netmask appropriately. I'm getting the error message "The IPv4 address and gateway are not in the same subnet mask". But the only gateway I've entered is the one by which the *EA2700* knows how to route upstream traffic, viz the ISP's router at 10.1.2.254. Or am I misunderstanding?
More fundamentally, can the EA2700 be configured in this way?

May 16, 2012I've created two configurations. One for the router side and one for the AP point side. However, I am having trouble getting the internal AP to bridge to the router properly. It is my understanding that the Wlan-GigabitEthernet is the internal interface connecting to the AP and the BVI1 together. I can't ping any ip address on the router side from the ap and the radio is active and we can see it but it seems that it doesn't give an ip address. [code] Is it a VLan issue or an ip issue but I could use a second opinion. I've included both configurations.

Now, since I have two routers, I want to be able to leverage EA2700's dual-band feature and the Guest-access feature but I can't make this as a main router since my FiOS router should still be able to supply IP addresses to my cable boxes, thus, I can't configure it as a Bridge. I'm thinking if I just split the IP distribution as follows:

May 7, 2012After scouring the internet for weeks I've hit a road block trying to figure this out. I've got a Netgear Prosafe FVS318N router that I am trying to enable VPN on for my office. I've read all sorts of information online about port forwarding, VPN policies, and many other things that ultimately don't tell me how to set up VPN on my specific router.Now, I've set up PPTPD on an in-house linuxbox as a makeshift VPN server and I'm successfully able to establish a VPN connection to it from a local connection (e.g. 192.168.etc. local ip address). However, when I try and VPN connect from a client outside of my office's network, I try connecting to my router's external ip address and this yields no success. My ASSUMPTION is that this has to do with a port not being properly forwarded, or something of that nature.What are the necessary steps I can take with my specific router and router firmware, which is 4.0.1-66, in order to get a VPN server up and running that listens to outside connections?

There are three routed interfaces that I need to configure: one for the internal LAN, the second for another private subnet that connects to a Data Centre and the third for the WAN connection. I have configured the Ge0/0 interface as the LAN interface with the internal network 10.17.0.0/24. I have also configured my WAN interface Ge0/1 for internet connectivity. Now, I need to configure the third interface Ge0/2 that will connect to the Data Centre. This will be a private point to point switched ethernet link. The Data Centre will host a secondary domain controlller. So, I want it to be on the same network as the internal LAN, i.e., 10.17.0.0/24. I want to be able to see all other devices that will be located at the Data Centre just like I would see all devices connected to the internal LAN.The problem I am facing is that Cisco 2951 does not allow me to configure two routed interfaces to be on the same subnet. Is there any way to work around this problem and configure both the internal LAN and the Data Centre private network to be on the same subnet.
