D-Link DCS-930L :: Viewing Via Direct Connection To MacBook Pro
Jan 17, 2013
I just got another DCS-930L. I have set these up to work wirelessly before but my question is why can't I connect it directly to my ethernet port and be able to get into the web interface by typing the default IP address without using a utility or installation software? I have tried to assign a manual IP to it but that didn't work. So here is what I want to do: Plug the camera into the ethernet port of my MacBook Pro and just view what the camera sees.
I purchased this router and a Motorola Surfboard SB5101U for my home network. My current set up at home for devices connected to router are as follows:
2 Macs and 2 iphones - Wireless 2 Directv boxes, 2 blu-ray players and xbox360, Ethernet cabling.
The issue I am having is that everyday at-least 7-8+ times my internet will just stop coming through. I never lose connection to the router it's self. But I cannot load webpages/content on any of my devices. They always show as being connected fine to the router though. I have attempted to call Cox cable, my ISP, to resolve the issue. And I am always told that everything looks fine on their end and that the issue must lie with the connection between the Modem and router. The rep then walks me through a complete reboot of both router & modem and of course, the issue is resolved 100% of the time. I am trying to fix the issue my self to avoid a $50 service call fee from Cox which could still not fix any issues at all. Since I have done some searching and found some advice on making changes to the configuration of the router. But time after time I continue to get the same issue.
I am able to access 930L (2 cams) from wifi be it laptop, iphone or ipad but I am not able to see it through 3g.I have Huawei fibre optics broadband reuter from Starhub.Starhub is running away if ask them to fix it. Huawei never takes the call.I tried atleast 3 times 10 minutes each at 8006011450.It goes to disconnect. The lot talked about UPNP is enable in reuter but it does not work.
Now i talked to Dlink support with ticket DCX36811.They advised to load the firmware.I did it still the connection timeout is there. we have baby to monitor through iphone/android 3g.
I'm using a Verizon DSL router, Mac D-Link Camera Setup Utility (BETA), and Mac OS X 10.6.7. Configuration of camera is as recommended in manual with CAT-5 cable. Green light blinks irregularly in a communicating-with-router manner. The setup utility won't recognize the camera
I have 3 932ls and one 930l in a house in Massachusetts, all registered onto my dlink. All went fine.I brought 3 more 932l and one 930l to a house in Mexico. I had problem w the 932l wizard. Then I noticed that I had brought 2 different wizard discs. They were different versions, the older one could not find a Internet connection, so I could go no further. I tried the newer version of the 932l wizard, it found my Internet connection, and did installation and registered all three 932ls to my current mydlink account. All fine so far. On my mydlink account I have the three Massachusetts 932s , the one Massachusetts 930, and the three Mexico 932s.
I had forget to bring the 930L disc for the installation. Here is where the problem started. I downloaded the 930L wizard from the Dlink site, but I can't get past that first section where is says " checking active x, checking Internet, checking LAN " or something to that effect. It then says " can't find Internet connection, check your adapter, router, etc" or something to that effect. I can't go any further with that wizard. I was able to find the cam from my router and finally got that 930L interface, and did the manual as well as the automatic set-up. I can see the cam perfectly, by going to 192.168.1.101 I can log in, reset my password, did everything. I can see cam wirelessly.
The problem is that I CAN'T register it to my mydlink account, and hence can't see it on mydlink lite , etc.I can ONLY see the cam INTRANET - WISE.the 930L wizard that I downloaded is worthless. I have disabled firewall, did everything, tried an XP PC, as well as a windows 7 laptop. Is there any way to add the cam to my mydlink account ? I even tried the 932L wizard that DOES find my Internet connection, but it doesn't find my 930 at the part where I have to chase a cam to set up. If I can't add the 930L to my mydlink account, I would even be happy if I could access it from the 192.168.1. ddress, but I dont know how to set that up so that I can do that from a different network than my own. I suppose that there must be a way to get to my modem, my router and then to that 192.168.1.101 address?
Or, does the data only go over the WAN connection when the camera is accessed via myDlink? I ask because I have this camera installed in my mountain home and the WAN connection is a 5GB/month Verizon USB modem. It seems to be chewing up a LOT of data.
I installed my camera a week ago and have since noticed every 15 minutes (only while the camera is plugged in) or so I would lose my internet connection. A message comes up at the bottom of my screen that says 'local area connection. A network cable is unplugged'. It takes 15-20 seconds for the connection to be re-established.
I called my ISP and asked if there were any settings on my router I needed to change since the camera install but they told me 'no' and I should contact tech support for the camera.
I'm having trouble with one of my DCS-930L cameras. I have successfully installed it and it's connected wirelessly to a Dovado router. However, after some 2 weeks the wireless connection drops and I can't connect to the camera anymore. As the camera is 350 km away I can't restart it. This happens everytime and the last time I was around the camera and indeed the camera LED was green. I restarted it by pulling the powercord and after that the camera worked for som 2-3 weeks and then the same problem again.I have 4 cameras, and it's always the same one that drops the connection and the router is only some 5 meters away from the camera. No walls between the router and the camera. I have the ability to restart the router with an sms, but that doesn't make the camera reconnect.
I've had two 932Ls for a year and they work fine. Both installed trouble-free and have been used with motion-detection wirelessly. I often go straight to their local IPs in my browser to make any changes to settings etc (avoiding myDlink). I just bought two 930Ls (don't need/want the IR-function on these) and tried to install them. Process went seemingly smooth but once the camera was installed and wireless, problems started to crop up. As I saved settings in the web interface, I would get 404 "page not found" errors. Refreshing would make it work again...sometimes. More often than not, I cannot reach it through the web interface and the camera reads "disconnected" in D-ViewCam. It usually works on myDlink though. i've checked all the network and wireless settings and they are identical to my 932Ls. The connection is just unstable for some reason. The problems are apparent in the web interface and D-ViewCam which also means I can't trust the motion detection and emailing function. It is also NOT visible in my Windows 7 network environment, whereas the two 932Ls (and my entire Sonos network) do show up there. The 930L is running firmware 1.04 and the 932Ls are running 1.02. I know there is a 1.06 available but before I try that I'd like to get your views on this problem. Could it be a faulty unit? I don't want to fight through this problems - if it persists I'd rather return the cameras and buy two more expensive 932Ls and just turn off the IR in the interface. Or is this a known issue with the 1.04 firmware?
Even writing this right now, the camera suddenly popped back up on the web interface inexplicably, without me doing anything. and back up on D-View Main Console.
I ran the setup CD and can access my camera from inside my local network. When I try to access it from outside, I can access the camera fine but the video stream is black. I tried RTSP ports 554, 2080 and 5632 with no success (of course I port forwarded the dsl modem as well). My dsl modem is a westell 7500 and my ISP is frontier communications. I contacted their support tech and at first he ran me through the exact port forwarding sequence I had already done on the modem. He then went away for a while and came back to say that I need to upgrade to their fixed internet address service. I understand dynamic DNS and don't think this is an issue because I can contact the camera OK, I just don't get the video through (black screen). Another issue is that the camera is reporting PPPOE 'failed'. The support tech has given me two PPPOE user names and passwords but neither work. The support tech said that they do require PPPOE.
In have the 942l and the mydlink Lite app on the iPhone. I have recording set up on the camera capturing in .mp4 format. I can view the camera on the phone fine. I can go the menu and select playback. I see the date of my recordings and the time. Each individual file is listed as you can see.
When I select any of these files, I get a black screen.
Do I need to change the rtsp URL? Anyone have this working correctly on the iPhone? If so, can you share your settings?
I have four DCS-942L cameras and a 2012 model Airport Express router. I cannot view live video from outside the router in any fashion other than mydlink.com's poor quality time-limited forwarded video. Here is what I have done.I have manually mapped four TCP ports through the router for accessing the cameras' web servers. This works--I can access the camera settings that way, albeit with NO SSL support (dammit). So, fundamentally, port forwarding works on this router. The "live view" accessed through the camera's web server does not work, though.I mapped port 554 on each camera to ports on the WAN side of my router, TCP and UDP.I have made sure that the external ports set on the camera under "Enable UPNP port forwarding" are the same as the external ports set on my router. (Otherwise the web server wouldn't work from outside.)When I access the mydlink web site from inside the LAN, I can view my video. When I run netstat -n -p tcp, I can see connections open to the local 192.168.0.* addresses of my cameras, so it is connecting via the LAN.If I connect to the Internet outside my LAN, and use the mydlink web site, I get the forwarded, mini-sized video with a 60 second limit. netstat reveals that connections are being attempted to the INTERNAL ip addresses of my cameras, which of course cannot succeed from outside. In addition, if I try to stream video using QuickTime Player from outside, using the URL [URL], the player connects, then says "waiting for stream" and then "switching transports." It gets stuck there and does not proceed. On the LAN, using the local IP address, I can stream video just fine.
Any way to change this? What other ports do I need to open to make the video stream work? I tried mapping ports 5556-5559 to one of my cameras, but that did not work. Also, I have four cameras and need to be able to map to all of them for this to work. The AirPort Express supports "NAT Port Mapping Protocol" which, from my limited research, is not the same as UPNP. How to successfully viewed video from outside a router without using UPNP?I have scoured these forums considerably and have read some success stories using UPNP. From the DCS-942L manual, it seems like I should be able to set up manual port forwarding in some fashion to make the video stream work. Clearly, though, some auxiliary connection is being attempted and the client cannot get through to the camera. Is it possible to even pick this statically, or is the port always dynamically chosen by the camera and therefore absolutely must be set up on the router using UPNP? If I can't make static port forwarding work, then these cameras are headed to camera heaven soon.
I have latest 3.3 dlink d-view cam software and a dcs-932l ip camera.I noticed the remote streaming and remote recorded viewing (ports 5150 and 5160) as part of the server software. I know if i browse to my ip of my pc it allows me to view both services on html via windows plugin visual basic addon. My question is what iOS app and Mac OS X app will allow me to remotely monitor my dviewcam softwares network service for both live view and recorded view.
how to share my pc's internet wireless connection with my macbook pro in order to get the mac online. The pc is an hp wireless laptop, the router/modem is a cisco.do I just connect the macbook through the router.
So from a security standpoint... PPTP through Windows RRAS then RDP to the server?,Open port 3389 to the server and rdp direct? would think that having a VPN out front would block people from attempting a connection, but if the VPN username and RDP username are the same, I feel like its about the same.
Have had an issue with a previous Belkin router and having similar issues with current DIR 825. Internet is dropped when opening up the Mac Book (Using N or G). Sometimes the internet connection still works with i Pad and iPhone, sometimes it doesn't. As well, sometimes I can turn WiFi off on the Mac Book and then turn it back on, and it will work for about the time it takes to load one webpage and then it will cut out again.
Every time this happens I can unplug the power from the router and plug it back in which has fixed the issue in every case. HW ver is B1 FW ver is 2.05 ISP is Cable Modem is standalone.
I have a computer with special software, customer abroad has a Laptop and connect multimedia center via etherner port to this laptop, I want to connect directly to customers ethernet port so I can program that multimedia center using a software in my PC. I know the ip address of multimedia center, but I cannot ping to it then I use hamachi port bridging.
Will not connect to the internet wired or wirelessly. It does turn on however. Not ISP or modem, because when comp is plugged in directly to the cable modem, internet connection works fine. I'm using a Comcast cable connection.
Router is Netgear-N 150 router wnr1000 version 2.My antivirus software is Malware bites, and when I ran it, it didn't find anything.
OS is windows 7 home premium 32 bit. Here's IPconfig:
Microsoft Windows [Version 6.1.7600] Copyright (c) 2009 Microsoft Corporation. All rights reserved.
APs must be directly connected to the 3850 for it to work in MA or MC mode. But if we add some switches and configure it to work transparently (without CDP/ VLAN tagging /LDP ) ? Do you think this is really not possible to make it? What impact CAPWAP tunnel gets from this transparent switch ?
Dell Inspiron 518 I have a problem with my internet going direct to modem, it a constant problem with my internet. I use Internet Explorer 9 for my web browsing. I contact my ISP and they send in a technician to see if it was a problem with my modem, while the tech work on my modem he explain to me that there wasnt a problem with the modem. He showed a comparison with my computer and his laptop. when he used his laptop it show outstanding speed, and my computer was showing time out or webpage can't be displayed the only way i can use my computer for internet is if i boot up my computer and hold down F8 to go under safe mode with network and my internet works prefectly fine, i even try a ping testing under command prompt and website that test my ping, download speed and upload speed.
I've just got my DCS-2121 up and working. But i can't figureout how to access the direct URL for the camera? And is there a URL for still images aswell?I got an iPad and an iPhone, but i can't access the camera because it use Java.I had another DCS-900 where i could access IMAGE.jpg and Video.cgi. Is there anything like those for the DCS-2121?
I recently tried resetting my router (dlink dir-655). I am able to connect using my iphone and my mbp if I did not make use of a secure connection. I tried putting a password on a new ssid. My ipad 2 and 2 other windows laptops are able to connect without any problem. My iphone 4s was having a hard time connecting to the new ssid. It does not connect automatically just in case I turn on and off my wifi connection for the iphone. I have to type in the wpa password whenever I had to go online again. FYI, I tried resetting my iphone several times and I still get the same response. As for my mac, it was far more much worse. Whenever I tried to connect to my router. It usually says connection time out. I tried resetting the router one more time again. I had to put in the old ssid and the old wpa password. My Iphone 4s was abe to connect automatically. My mbp did the same thing also.
About six months ago I replaced my old router (some generic 802.11b/g router I got for free with a rebate years ago and which lasted a few years) with a Dir-601 after the old router started intermittently cutting out. Setup of the Dir-601 was straightforward enough and I have WEP enabled. Both my Macbook and my wife's Macbook can connect fine if we choose the router from the drop-down wireless network list, and the router has been consistently reliable in maintaining a connection as long as the OS is running.
HOWEVER, neither computer will remember the wi-fi network and won't auto-connect when waking up from sleep or after a restart. Our iPhone and Android smartphones remember the network just fine and auto-connect every time, zero issues. I've gone through all the typical Mac troubleshooting steps, deleting saved network connections and re-establishing new ones. Never solves the problem. We always have to go to the wireless network menu and manually select the wifi connection to connect to.
It's not the Macbooks. Firstly, both macbooks have the same issue, and they're each running different MacOS versions, so there's no version-specific issue that can be at play here. Secondly, neither macbook had this issue with any previous wifi router. Thirdly, anywhere else we take our macbooks where we've set up a wifi connection, they remember it and auto-connect without us having to manually select the network. The only network where we have to manually select the network every time is the one set up with the Dir-601. In fact, we're at my inlaws for the holidays and our Macbooks have been auto-connecting to their router each and every time.Is there a setting I'm not seeing on the Dir-601 admin page?
I received a 5508 WLC, that I wanted to configure as a guest anchor for our DMZ. I stepped through the console configuration. Now that the setup is complete, can I attach my laptop directly to the copper SFP, and access the WLC web portal? I gave my laptop an IP address, in the same subnet, but still can't connect to the portal, or ping the WLC IP address.
I have been trying to get this setup for 2 days now and so far NADA.....
Router: Linksys E3000 - below is a list of all devices connected (hardwired T568B) to the 4 ports with a laptop connected via wireless
1. Main PC - motherboard: ASUS Maximus IV Extreme-Z (dual GB LAN ports) 2. Media Server - motherboard: MSI Z68A-GD80 (dual GB LAN ports) 3. Test Bench AMD PC 4. WD TV Live
Currently: I have all 3 computers running Windows 7 and connected to a Homegroup. I have given the correct permissions to enable sharing of files between each of the 3 computers and can transfer files from one PC to the next w/o any issues.
Desired: I want to connect my Main PC and Media Sever with a crossover cable using the 2nd LAN port on each motherboard, so that I don't have to go through the router to transfer data to and from these 2 PCs. I will have each PC also connected to the Linksys E3000 router via the 1st LAN port on each motherboard to supply the internet connection, so I am also not trying to "share" an internet connection between these 2 PCs. Basically, I want to run my home network through the Linksys E3000 and then a 2nd network for the 2 PCs using the crossover cable.
Current Problem: I disconnected the straight-through cables from the router to each computer from the 1st LAN port. I then connected the crossover cable from the Main PC to the Media Server and setup a new Home network in the Network and Sharing Center in Windows 7. Everything worked and I could transfer data to and from each these 2 PCs, so i know I wired the crossover cable correctly. Then I reconnected the straight-through cables coming from the router to the 1st LAN ports of each mobo, thinking that each PC would auto-detect the internet connection and reacquire my existing home network, enabling an internet connection again. However, this did not happen.
[URL] I also followed this how-to guide on microsoft.com, but when I get to Step 3 where it says that an "Unidentified network icon" will aprear in the Network and Sharing Center, it does not!
From Googling, reading, and troubleshooting I believe I know 2 things:
1. All of the hardware is functioning properly - when the straight-through cables from the router are disconnected, the 2 PCs are networked through the crossover cable and files can be transferred.
2. The problem is with Windows 7 somewhere - I think?
I just bought a DCS-2130 for outdoor use (city landscape through my window in the nineteenth floor), and I'm trying to get it work during the daylight, but I'm having some problems. It seems like this camera can't handle direct sunlight, and in these situations the image gets blurry, even when I set the exposure to auto with max of 0dB in setup menu. Simply there's nothing I can do in this options menu to solve this problem. As the day passes by (and the sunlight gets weaker), the image gets better 'til the night, when it's perfect. What I need to know is if there is any way to setup it properly for daylight use. Is there possible to setup these exposure parameteres some other way, like editing an .ini file or something like that? Or this expensive camera simply can't handle this?
Currently have two laptops: one is a MacBook using OS X, the other a Gateway PC running Vista Home Edition. A Dell Inspiron 17R notebook running Windows 7 Home Premium is in process of delivery. Current laptops linked on a home Wi-Fi network with AirPort Express router. Anticipated use of new Dell notebook requires its direct connection to Internet outside of current network configuration. Is it possible to have both accesses available in my setup utilizing my one cable high speed service connection? If so, what are the steps needed to accomplish the required setup?
We have FIOS at our home. All the wall connections for ethernet are wired to the control panel in our house which are then connected to a wired router. We have another wireless router in the upstairs which gets internet through the wall port and it works fine.We had another downstairs wireless router in the living room that was working fine as well, but I reset it for certain reasons and it no longer works properly. All the proper lights light up: internet, port, power but the computer can only connect to the network and not the internet for some reason.
I have been using a WRT610N router for several years. A couple of weeks ago I purchased an iPad 2. I am not sure if its a limitaion of the iPad 2 or a wireless connection speed issue, but when watching You Tube music videos the video stops frequently and I have to hit the play button again to resume. This occurs more often if I am using Blue Tooth connected headphones than direct connected headphones, leading me to the initial conclusion that I am witnessing the limits of the iPad 2 processor. However, I recently downloaded the Speed Test app and have discovered that the wireless download speed varies from about 11-15Mbps, depending on the location (normal vs next to router). If I go to that web site and run the speed test there from my direct connected PC (connected to 1Gbps port), I get a download speed typically of 36Mbps (inflated I know because Comcast speed supposedly is limited to 25 Mbps).
I have a DROID X2 and a HTC DROID Incredible can I use wireless wi-fi connections directly through my BN450D router or do I have to go through my computer to hook up..
My macbook keeps loosing it's wireless connection after being idle, when I start up I have to find my router and highlight it and connect and if it's idle it losers it's connection all the time.I tried resetting the router to default and started over I also tried every imaginable way of saving my password and connection but I can't find a way I've been into the routers security, trouble shooting, wireless, what's not holding it's connection to my MACBOOK? my iphone 5, ipad, and roku all hold
I recently purchased a Linksys e3000 router. Everything is going great except that both my desktop (Windows 7 Machine) and Laptop (Macbook Pro) keep losing the connection to a DLINK 323 Nas drive I have plugged into the router. This is problematic because I keep my itunes library on the NAS drive.
