D-Link DIR-655 :: Abusive Port Scans For Choking Connection
Jun 10, 2011
I have tracked about 7 unique IPs originating from China where these scans for accesses to my network are causing 2-10secs of downtime in realtime gaming. Never had this problem when I was using Firmware 1.34NA. Stuck with 1.35NA and its causing lots of eyesores even though Wifi has been great with my laptop and phone for N/G. I only keep my main PC on and my 2 fileservers are offline until need to start archiving data or fetch something from them. Wifi is disabled until I need my laptop and phone. I personally had my ISP do an inhouse checkup and fixed some splitter issues and a new coax cable so signal issue is fine. Motorola 6120 Cable modem. Was pushed to contact my ISP Abuse group to figure this out but it might be a lingering issue for awhile.
I decided to buy myself a DIR-615 Wireless N 300 Router, its wireless performance is thus far very stable and strong. This router factory firmware loaded is 5.10 HW: E3.I never use Router features like SPI and DoS Protection, and I always use DMZ for unrestricted filtering, I use a software firewall for protection and monitoring traversing packets.
The problem is, D-Link does limited filtering over DMZ, Im not use to seeing this with other popular router brands, Im not happy with this implementation of DMZ. Now whats worse, the Router (not the computer set on DMZ) itself is responding to different TCP stealth scans like TCP NULL, XMAS, FIN.How to correct this without enabling protections like SPI, so the Router wont respond nor drop these types of packets when a computer is set on DMZ.
My younger brother uses IDM to download files and it slows my Internet down to a crawl. I've tried reasoning with him but its not getting through to him. Is there any way I can use my router (bcz only I have access to it) to limit IDM?
I have a N600dp. My printer, Brother MFC-J410W, is plugged into the router USB port. The printer function works but the scanner function doesn't. I keep getting an error message that the printer is not connected.
1.I use it as a AP, no connection in the internet port, however I only see the DNS setting in the WAN interface, so some url setting can not normally run. Do it has AP mode or other setting that can resolve the DNS.
2.I notice that the Time will suddenly wrong something, even I set it to use local time or ntp.
3.I change the wireless setting to WPA Enterprise, and notice that always disconnect and reconnect, When it is disconnect, notebook and phone can not search the wireless, but ping in local is still alive, log also only show that reconnect, what is happen?
4.I run the internet wizard (not at beginning), I do not change new password in the second phase of wizard, however, after the end of wizard, restart the DIR 655, I can not use the password I set before to login and also I try to leave blank in password flied, it also failed, I use the same password in the user(not admin), I can login, is it the bug of wizard, if this situation need to reset the router, can I take the config first?
I installed the DIR 655 router using the install disk. I hooked up my Vista desktop machine via the ethernet port. I also activated a Roku box and my Itouch successfully via the wireless.I turned MAC filtering on and manually entered the MAC addresses for the three devises. Everything worked fine. After I rebooted the desktop, I could no longer get to the internet via the desktop connected through the ethernet. The Roku Box and I-Touch both work fine and enjoy a strong wireless connection.I've tried rebooting the desktop several times, but still can not access the web. I also can not access the router by typing in 192.168.0.1. I entered the configsys stuff and verifited that I am using the right numbers.
Since a few days, when I go on Web with my cable connection, the pages of sites stay on a blank page and that does not connect. Having made diagnose, I had the following message:The distant ring road(peripheral) or the resource does not accept the connection. The ring road(peripheral) or the resource [URL] is not configured to accept the connections on the port " Web Service (HTTP) ".I phoned at my FAI ( Videotron) and having discussed for a long time, it happened at the conclusion that it was a problem of router (when I connect the computer directly on the modem, that works very well).Of an other one quoted(esteemed), a connection Wireless telegraphy works with no problem at all, fortunately because I shall not be here.I am to go to my router D-Link Dir-835 and I returned to the former(old) protection(saving) of the configuration. And now that re-works again. But the enjoyment was short-lived because this morning, the problem returned. What do you think about it? I Should make a reset of my router even if it means re-configuring everything again?
I've configured my 655 and I can access the internet through it. Network cable from PC goes to the DLINK, DLINK to the DSL modem, DSL modem to the big scary internet. This all works great. Now for the Wi Fi.I've set up the Wi Fi on the 655 and can both see and connect to my newly configured home network from my laptop, but I can not access the internet from the laptop.

is it possible to use the Print Server on the TL-WR1043ND without installing the "Printer Controller Utility"? I have a HP LaserJet 1022 (in compatiblity list) connected which is recognized by the TL-WR1043ND. I want to connect the printer manually to my Windows PC using standard tcp/ip port, but I can't get it working. I tried RAW with Port 9100 and LPR with lp1. What are the right settings??

I am trying to setup port-forwarding (6360 for IP 192.168.1.111 & 6361 for IP 192.168.1.112) on this TD-W8968 modem. But when I test it on [URL]. I get a message "connection refused".

Is there any way of forwarding an external port to a different internal port on the TD-8970 ?I saw a question posed on an Australian forum implying that it might be provided in a later firmware release. Our TD- 8970 has replaced a previous NetGear WAG 320N which had this facility, and is useful to provide access to multiple machines without having to modify each individually to use a different port.
I am having an issue opening a port (4040) on the 655 for my Fedora-based subsonic server. Inside the LAN, I can see the device from other peer machines, so I am confident the port is open and listening. However, I can't seem to get to the machine-port from outside/internet.
I have tried Virtual Server and Port Forwarding with single port. The server has a stactic IP which I've included in the DHCP range and outside the range. I have a DSL connection (AT&T), modem only. I have updated firmware. I have exhausted the Subsonic community's knowledge, everything points to the router, but all the settings seem correct. What am I missing? Is if possible there is a defect in the router? (don't laugh). Is there a way to trace a request to that port to see where it is hanging?
I have a DIR-655 Rev B, in a typical cascaded config: modem > dir-555 > switches & devices, etc.One of the four dir-655 ports is connected to a cheap-o Belink Wifi router which I use as an access point (I only use this because there's one device that only supports WEP). I was debugging a WiFi issue and I pulled the plug on this Belkin just to get it out of the picture. Well, when I did that, EVERYTHING that was connected through the DIR-655 lost connection. (Well, all the wired stuff anyway- not sure about WiFi devices through the DIR-655). I noticed that the port link light for the powered-off device stayed on on the DIR-655. When I unplugged the cable from the DIR-655, everything went back to normal.
So what I'm trying to figure out now is, is this a DIR-655 issue, or is it something screwy with the Belkin? Or Both? I've got to assume that there's some inherent flaw in the DIR-655 that allows something connected to a port to screw up everything that it's hosting.
I just bought a "DLink Xtreme N Gigabit Router DIR-655" I configured it correctly. It works well for the wireless connection but my Lan connection (wired connection) does not work. The Lan computer connects to the router but cannot access the internet. All of my machines work OK with a Netgear G router, including the Lan computer.
Recently, something weird occurred. My Motorola Surfboard cable modem (on PenTeleData/Service Electric) and my D-Link DIR-655 don't seem to be getting along. If I plug a network cable directly from the modem into a computer, it works fine. However, if I go from the modem to the router's WAN port, it doesn't seem to want to connect to the router at all (no matter what DNS settings I change on the router (including spoofing the MAC address of a working computer) or which network cables I use; the "activity" light on both the router and the modem remain off). Also, if I take a network cable and plug one end in one of the LAN ports on the router and the other end in the WAN port, it works (well, the "internet" activity light on the front of the router comes on and the status page at http://192.168.0.1/Status/Device_Info.shtml says "Cable Status: Connected; Network Status: Incorrectly configured - check logs" instead of "Cable Status: Disconnected; Network Status: Disconnected").
I replaced my old netgear router, which died recently, with a shiny new DIR-655 on my gigabit wired home network. Now I see that file transfer from my NAS is very slow (about 1 megabyte per second). I would like to check if the NAS has connected at 1Gbps to the router. I was browsing the "stat" or "attached device info" in the routers configuration webpage, but could not find it. To be precise, I do see the connection to the NAS, but there is no indication of the connection speed
I recently had a security scan done on a DIR 655 and the report came back saying PORT 111 (Unix RPC Service) should not be listening for external connections. I've looked through every setting but can't find where this service is enabled (or can be altered) -- aany guidance on this port/service?
I have a DNS-323 that I can;t get my FTP to work. For some reason no matter what I try I can't open ports on the DIR-655I have the virtual server set as such. [URL]. Checked with open port tool.
I was using this router and Malaysia TM UNIFI service. I can use wireless but can't detect the LAN port. I have try it to other modem router and it's working. Its keep showing my local area connection network cable unplugged and no signal at all. And the router was working well on other PC and notebook.Try many way but still can't work
If possible I would like to have access to my external hard drive from outside of my network. While in the network my laptop connects to the Hard Drive using the shareport. If I take the laptop with me then I would also have to take the External Drive with me.
I have a DIR-825 Rev. B1 wireless router running FW ver.NA2.0.7. I want to connect a Seagate 4Tb external HDD with USB 3.0 into the USB 2.0 port on the router to use the hdd as a NAS and run backups of the data files on the computers of my home network. The computers are running Windows 7 - 64bit. Plugging the hdd into the USB port on the computer lets it be recognized and ensured that Windows 7 had the most current drivers. When I plug the external hdd into the USB 2.0 port on the router and then plugging in the hdd and resetting the router, I still cannot get the computer to find the hdd on the network.
I was trying to port forward and could not get it to work. I run a Camfrog room sever of my desktop computer. I needed the TCP port 6005 open to the desktop and UDP ports 5000-15000. I enter that in to the Port forwarding setting but it never work. So later on today I try this I blank out the TCP 6005 in the port forwarding and letf the UDP setting in it and saved it. Then I went to the Virtual server settings and add camfrog3 in the name and put the TCP port 6005 in to it and check it and save the setting and bingo it work.
Alright, so I'm trying to set up a Minecraft server without having to use some sort of hosting program, such as LogMeIn Hamachi. I have tried port forwarding both my external IP from "whatismyip.com" and from ipconfig in the CMD WITH the correct Minecraft port, and others still cannot connect. note that I can only connect to my own server when I use the IPv4 address from my CMD. get my server working so that others can connect? (I have been sure to change my "server properties" file's "server-ip" line accordingly.)
I am facing a strange problem with my DIR 601 router. I am not able to access internet when I plug in the cable from my model to slot marked nternet' on the back of the model (which I guess is the right way). However, I can access the internet if I plug in the cable coming from modem into any of the 4 ports marked as 'LAN'.
-hardware: A4 -firmware: 1.34NA, 2010/04/16 -Cable ISP service -Cable modem without built in router -wired connection -Qos is disabled -I have tried port forwarding and virtual server -3389 is forwarded fine
I cannot forward port 3390 anymore and I do not remember changing anything. I am trying to forward port 3390 b/c I already am using remoted desktop on another machine using port 3389 and it works fine. It is not the machine b/c I change port forwarding machine using 3389 and it works fine, but I need to have 3389 and 3390 set up.
TWC / Road Runner modem dir-655 - Hardware Version: B1 Firmware Version: 2.00NA dap-1522 windows xp xbox 360 powerphone voip adapter
Here is my setup:
TWC / RR cable modem to 655 655 port to xp machine 655 port to voip adapter 655 wireless to 1522 1522 port to xbox 360
I am no guru but managed to get all this working about 6 months ago. Other than some TWC outages it has been fine.Couple days back the XP stopped seeing the net. It could still see the LAN. The voip adapter and 1522 / xbox 360 still work fine. Here is what I have tried:
Plugged XP in 1522, worked fine. Plugged XP directly into cable modem, worked fine. Plugged XP into port the voip is working on, did not work. Tried other 3 ports on 655, did not work.
Since the XP machine works with the 1522 and cable modem I am assuming the XP machine is not the problem.Since the voip adapter works on the 655 ports I am assuming the ports are not the problem.
