D-Link DIR-615 Doesn't Connect To The Internet
Mar 3, 2011I have had this router and everything was working, I have moved and after getting my internet activated I proceeded to set-up a network in my new place. The setup process went smooth but even though I can connect to my network, I cant connect to the internet. I know my internet works as a direct connection through the modem works. I updated the firmware, I tried doing a factory reset on the router, basically did all the basic stuff that one would do if they had router troubles.

Jan 4, 2012I have been having difficulty connecting to the internet at my new place, I'm starting to think that the network card I recently bought (D-Link DWA-552 XtremeN Desktop Adapter) might have a problem, but I am not sure. I am currently using my landlord's internet, so I don't have access to the router to turn it on and off, which Windows suggests doing constantly, but I don't think that's the problem because I have internet on all my other wireless devices (Phone, PS3, Xbox).I am able to see the router most times and connect to it, but I am unable to connect to the internet, the networking image in the bottom corner has a yellow warning sign. Also, after a certain amount of time, the wireless card is unable to detect any wireless signal, the networking image in the bottom corner has a red X through it. I disabled all networking interfaces besides the wireless card because of an error message that I thought may have been caused by it: "This computer is continuously switching between two or more wireless access points or routers", but disabling the other interfaces did nothing and the message still appears after troubleshooting.

Mar 1, 2013I have the firmware 2.10NA. In my home we have about 4 laptops and 4 smartphones connecting to this router wirelessly and 3 of the laptops often lose connection for hours. We have tried unplugging the router and plugging it in again and factory reset and also resetting it through the IP address but the connection doesnt come back. Recently it has gone out for about 3 hours now. Also the wireless LED icon on the router constantly blinks is this normal? On the laptops where theres no connection it says limited connectivity. Is it possible that there is too many devices connected to the router or something. or could this be a problem with the laptops and not the router?

In system checks my modem indicated as " Identified" the modem is a Huawei E160E . My notebook and tablet connects by wireless connection to TL-MR3040 but the router does not dial ISP number *99# . The led on usb modem continues flashing. the 3G modem works perfectly with my notebook and tablet and I use the same parameters for TL-MR3040 with tablet. Mar 9, 2013I have a TP-Link TL-WN723 USB WiFi adapter attached to my laptop, which runs WinXP Service Pack 3. It successfully detdcts the WiFi provided by my Edimax BR62-04Wg router, but when I try to connect, it cannot obtain an IP address and cannot connect to the network.
- The very same WiFi adapter can connect to other routers without any problem
- Any other device can connect to the very same network provided by my router without any problem
- Using the WiFi adapter with other computers does not work
Thus, it seems that the problem is somewhere between this specific router and WiFi adapter. Here is an interesting detail though:If I try connecting to my WiFi while a LAN cable from the router is plugged into my computer, the wireless connection establishes too. Even if I later unplug the LAN cable, the wireless connection continues to work. But it won't establish the connection without the cable plugged in.Here's what I've already know/tried:
- Rebooting the PC
- Re-installing the WiFi adapter's drivers
- All drivers and firmwares are the newest available
- Re-starting and reconfiguring the router
- Using the Windows client for wireless networking and the client included on the WiFi adapter's CD
- Changing the router's connection type to any available option: Access Point, Station Ad-hoc, AP Bridge WDS
None of these had any effect except for one:
- When I changed the router's connection type to Station Ad-hoc, I could connect wirelessly even without the LAN cable plugged in, and I had Internet access. However, in this case, other devices, such as smartphones could not detect the WiFi connection.

Dec 25, 2012About six months ago I replaced my old router (some generic 802.11b/g router I got for free with a rebate years ago and which lasted a few years) with a Dir-601 after the old router started intermittently cutting out. Setup of the Dir-601 was straightforward enough and I have WEP enabled. Both my Macbook and my wife's Macbook can connect fine if we choose the router from the drop-down wireless network list, and the router has been consistently reliable in maintaining a connection as long as the OS is running.
HOWEVER, neither computer will remember the wi-fi network and won't auto-connect when waking up from sleep or after a restart. Our iPhone and Android smartphones remember the network just fine and auto-connect every time, zero issues. I've gone through all the typical Mac troubleshooting steps, deleting saved network connections and re-establishing new ones. Never solves the problem. We always have to go to the wireless network menu and manually select the wifi connection to connect to.
It's not the Macbooks. Firstly, both macbooks have the same issue, and they're each running different MacOS versions, so there's no version-specific issue that can be at play here. Secondly, neither macbook had this issue with any previous wifi router. Thirdly, anywhere else we take our macbooks where we've set up a wifi connection, they remember it and auto-connect without us having to manually select the network. The only network where we have to manually select the network every time is the one set up with the Dir-601. In fact, we're at my inlaws for the holidays and our Macbooks have been auto-connecting to their router each and every time.Is there a setting I'm not seeing on the Dir-601 admin page?

Dec 11, 2011I just got my DIR 825. It had 2.02NA Firmware in it. It had a few options that I wanted to use but didn't work. So I thought I would update firmware. I follow the instruction from dlink to install firmware. So I loaded 2.03 and noticed internet connection not working. So then I loaded 2.05 part1 and part2. Still could get internet connection to work but the reason to upgrade the option I wanted worked. So then I loaded 2.06 and still same result. No internet connection. But when I remove the ethernet connection, shut down and then start my system and then connect the lan, all the 3 browsers work fine. I'm noticing this issue after I've uninstalled TuneUP Utilities trial pack and/or after I've installed LABTEC wireless Keyboard and mouse. Jul 9, 2012I have a D-link DIR-655 router which used to be able to connect to the internet fine through my modem. However, it wasn't connecting to the internet when I woke up this morning. I tried all the standard replacing the cables, powercycling the router, modem, and rebooting the PC. After trying all that, I used the reset button on the router and reconfigured manually by entering the IP into my browser and logging in that way, but still nothing. I can connect to the internet by plugging the modem directly into my PC, but connecting through the router or wirelessly doesn't work. I can connect to the network itself through the router, and wireless from my laptop, but it only has local access.

Nov 13, 2011I recently purchased a new Dlink DIR-655 router. My motivation was a router with a USB port. I initially purchased a DIR-632. I have 1 desktop without a wireless card so it connects to router thru ethernet cable. I have 2 personal laptops with wireless cards and 1 work computer also with wireless card. With the DIR-632 all computers would connect to router, but my work computer (Dell) would connect but then intermittenly show no internet connection. All other computers had no issues connecting to internet ( wired and wireless) The Dell would connect and have internet connection if I used a wired connection. After talking to DLink Tech support they said that i had an issue with the Dell. I called Dell and they walked me thru several things. Nothing worked. They ultimately sent in a tech who replaced wireless adapter and did a diagnosis before leaving and the Dell was deemed to be in perfect working order. I tried connecting again after Dell's repairs and same issue. DlinK Tech support then said the issue was with router and suggested replacing router. Went back to place of purchase and obtained the DIR-655. Got home and exactly the same issue. Again on the horn with Tech support and issue was determined to be bad router. Went back to place of purchase and got another DIR-655. Got home tried new router same issue. Spent in excess of 4 hrs on the phone with level 3 tech support. We tried many, many possible fixes and it appeared as if we had the problem fixed, but within a hour of hanging up with tech support the issue was unchanged.
As the Dell is a work computer I use it a multiple locations, some with no issues connecting wirelessly and one location the same issue as at my home (interestingly enough this location uses a DIR-655). At this 1 work location it says I'm connected, it says there is internet access, but I cannot do anything on the internet.(I can connect without issue with an ethernet connection) At my home location I can connect to the DIR-655 wirelessly, it initially shows internet access and I might be able to access a single webpage, but then it states no internet connection, but it is still connected to the DIR-655.
My initial DIR-615 and the Dell works perfectly fine. However that defeats the purpose of me buying the DIR-655. Ideally I want only the DIR-655 with all computers connecting thru it.
The ISP is a satellite connection. The modem is a Hughes HN9000. By spending 4 hours online with tech support we have changed the channel used, specified specific DNS locations, IP addresses, renewed DHCP, you name we have probably tried it.
The Dell for some reason just does not like the DIR-655, as it connects to the DIR-615 and 1 other work location router, but it will not connect at my home or other work locations (both DIR-655 routers).
D-Link DIR-655 :: Couldn't Get Internet Connect Via Router
Feb 14, 2011I just bought DIR-655 yesterday and tried to set it up through the CD but without success. My problem at first was I couldn't get internet connect via router (but PC to DSL modem direct connection is always all right). Then I played around to turn on "Advanced DNS service" then I got internet connection via router to my PC. However sometimes the web site names couldn't be translated by DNS correctly and it resulted in "Not Found" and I am pretty sure those web sites are active and running (as I have no problem to access those if I connect DSL modem to my PC directly). Also I noticed wireless connection was very slow and some You Tube videos would stop playing after around 30 seconds and DSL modem had no further activity at all. Why couldn't I use 192.168.0.1 (default IP) as primary DNS (as I got no internet at all if I did so)? Is it really necessary to turn on "Advanced DNS service"? How can I get internet access if I turn "Advanced DNS service" off?

I'm trying to replace my old router with the TL-MR3420 but I cannot reach Internet.
I get "Internet" directly by a Cable into my apartment. This Cable is connected to the WAN input. Then I connect my computer to one of the LAN ports. (The Cable Connections are done exactly as on my previous router.)
The setup on my PC (running Windows 8) is as described in the manual (IP address automatic and DNS server automatic).
Internet doesn't work and I cannot reach the router from the browser using 192.168.1.1.
I'm not using any 3G and of course I have restarted the router (and PC) a couple of times. I thought I could just replace my old router with the new one... but NOT.

Mar 26, 2011I have an Acer AM3100 desktop running Windows Vista. It is connected to a netgear wireless router via an ethernet cable. I also have two laptops connected to the same router. The laptops connect to the internet fine but the desktop doesn't. I connected to the internet fine (satellite) before I moved but won't connect now. Norton 360 can update automatically and Skype connects but I can't open web pages. I used the norton tool and uninstalled Norton 360 but it still won't connect.
