I just got a DIR-655, and I got it working, with some effort. However, the wifi stops connecting to the internet every few hours and requires a reboot. Only a reboot of the wifi portion of the router's software, I go to Manual Wireless Connection Setup and save it without changing anything. LAN connections don't experience this.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm running a D-Link DIR-655 Hardware Version A3, Firmware Version 1.21. In the past, it has been flaky, and I considered updating to the latest firmware (1.3+ something), but everywhere I read (mainly this forum) said it might be WORSE for the router and couldn't even be downgraded, so I decided to ride it out.
Eventually the problem disappeared and I forgot about it, but now it's back with a vengeance. Recently I opened up a Guest Zone so my neighbors could borrow wifi, and I occasionally run torrents. Torrenting seems to definitely crash the router overnight, while it also seems to randomly bug out, possibly when the neighbors are using the Guest Zone. The Guest Zone might be responsible, but I have no idea.
For what it's worth, I don't think my neighbors are terribly tech-savvy, so I doubt they're filesharing or doing anything risky. They might have malware installed, but I don't know.
Is there a way I can diagnosis my precise issue, should I go ahead and update to the latest firmware to try?

I bought the MR3040 to use only with battery but now my if used with 3G stick E1752 it reboots. If I use a powered hub then it works.
I thought this devive was a mobile device, now it seems I need external power.
I purchased the DIR-615 last week, and have experienced intermittent loss of internet connectivity, and automatic rebooting numerous times a day. A solid connection is up for 90% of the time; but you never know when connection will be lost. When connection is lost it automatically comes back after about 5 minutes with the router rebooting itself. I though I would ask for assistance here prior to taking it back to Fry's. I was previously using a 6 year old Linksys, and had no problems for years until it recently decided to die.

My router was working fine. Then 1 day I started having slow internet. My ping in games would jump up from ~60 to about 400-800. Did some troubleshooting with my ISP. Seemed like my modem was to blame. So I bought a Netgear one from BestBuy.
Everything was fine. Then 1 day the internet stated disconnecting. None of the computers could see the router in the wireless networks. I found the only way to solve the problem is to unplug the power and plug it back in. Strangely it seems to happen a lot late at night like around 11PM or 12 midnight EST.
Before with my old modem I just had automatic settings and DHCP. With the new modem it wouldn't work so I called DLink and the tech guy walked me through some steps, one of which was changing the ip address from 192.256.0.1 to 10.10.10.1. Whenever I reboot the router after a disconnect the computers say "there was an IP address conflict." Maybe this has something to do with it?
I saw in another topic someone said their router's time was wrong. Mine said it was 2010 so I updated it to automatically sync with ntp1.dlink.com and now it shows 2012. Let's see if it fixes now. My mom's laptop had a similar problem with Skype. For some reason the clock kept resetting to 2000 and Skype would not work (everything else did). When she resets the time to 2012 it starts working again.
Every 30 minutes we get a constant beeping noise from our router that lasts about a minute.

When I use them my log gets filled with messages like:Blocked incoming TCP Ack packet from 192.168.100.201:2926 to 209.85.145.113:80 with unexpected sequence On the devices I see the downloads/content taking a long time to appear and often I get a blank page or "Retry" messages. I purchased two DIR-601s and get the same problem with both. They are both running 1.02NA firmware. The WLAN is Time Warner cable modem. Prior to this I had a Linksys WRT-54 that gave great performance, though just at B/G speeds. I was hoping for a performance boost but right now the N speeds are slower than B with the retries.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI just got a new 2011 Toshiba Satellite L755 laptop with Windows 7, I also have a 2006 Compaq Presario with the original Windows Vista. We use a DIR-615 router for WIFI connection on both. The old Compaq will keep a connection with no problem and never looses a connection. The new Toshiba will keep 3 bars of signal but will not keep a constant connection to the internet. Do I need to upgrade my router, which I bought the one I have about 3-4 years ago, or could it possibly be a problem with my new computer?

It's plugged into a decent battery backup providing good clean power. I initially thought its overheating, so I had a fan blow on it all day long, without any change in the issue.

i have been living in China for some time and bought a DIR-600M router from DLINK while I was there. While a friend configured it for me and everything was fine, i would love to have an english version of the firmware.... i have searched everywhere but couldnt find any english version for this particular model..I have tried to download and install the American version of the 600 model, but it seems as it does not accept this version as it always jumps back to the chinese version after rebooting....

I am unable to forward and ports succesfully because after i have saved the settings i check it with a port checking site and it says they're all closed.
I have also been getting disconnected from my router when its under stress (Most recently playing League of Legends) but my Dad's Pc (Which is only connected to the Belkin) still stays connected and hasn't experienced any disconnections.
My router model is F5D7634-4 v2, DHCP is enabled but only my Dad's PC appears, UPnP is enabled but doesn't seem to work and my fireware is up to date.

I have a new DIR-815 router, with a network consisting of one HP desktop computer, one Sony VAIO laptop computer and one Samsung tablet computer.My problem is that I can't seem to maintain a constant internet connection requiring a new router setup at least once a week, sometimes more frequently.Also, even though the network I set up is called "HOME" my desktop, which is the computer connected to my cable provider, never shows any connection to that network. Both the laptop and the tablet connect to the :HOME" network while the desktop connects to something called "Network 5" which does not show up anywhere in my setup. As long as I have an Internet connection I really don't care what the connection is called, but I find it strange that I am connected to a network that apparently does not even exist
View 7 Replies View RelatedLately, I upgrade the firmware on my router. A linksys WRT54G. In order to access the router I had to do a manual reset to factory settings. Post upgrade, for some reason I couldn't access the internet. I tried everything for hours and finally through sheer luck of unplugging every cable and ever power lead and plugging it back in, it started working.
However, lately I've found that the only computer connected to the internet via eathernet cable is loosing connection intermittently. Also we seem to get constant huge spikes in latency and very inconsistent speed. Unplugging the router and plugging it back in again seems to solve this problem temporarily, but requires toggling of power multiple times a day. Also I had what I believe was an IP address conflict, or lack of an IP address once, but using the windows troubleshoot errors fixed that by resetting my wireless network card. (This was on a 2nd machine)

I've been having this issue with my wireless connection for quite a few months now and up until now I've just dealt with it. With the release of Diablo 3 (whoo!) it's become unbearable with this lag spikes. My ping will be fine, steady around 50-90 but then randomly spike upwards of 400. After a few moments (literally a second or two) it'll drop back down to it's normal speed. This happens in all online games I play, WoW, League of Legends, DotA 2 and now Diablo 3, I have roadrunner and pay for 25 download and 1 upload so it should be more than enough to play the games I'd like, I'm also running on windows 7. I think part of the problem could be the fact that the router is in the basement and I'm on the second story. I have a netgear wndr3700v3 router and I set up a repeater in my room to see if that would work (asus rt-n12 router) and although it has increased my speed, I still have these ping spikes.

My 2 brothers on the other hand are both connected to the same router through cables as well and neither have this issue. Both issues seem to simply fix themselves by just waiting, but the disconnects are killing me.

I use an SSL VPN to connect to work which worked fine on 1.0.01 and 1.0.02 but I upgraded to 1.0.03 to fix an issue where the router constantly reboots when I stream Netflix or Hulu and now the router reboots with Netflix, Hulu AND the SSL VPN tunnel initiation.

I get 5-10 second dropouts in waves pretty randomly. When it happens, I get a couple at a time, and normally have to stop playing out of frustration.I have a powerline adapter hooked up to my pc to the router. That router has an apple router attached by cat5e running a second wireless network somewhere else in the house.I've tried DMZing my pc, disconnecting the apple router, nothing seems to be fixing it.Here are 3 pathpings while my computer is in DMZ, so the router shouldnt be messing with my DHCP (right?). The first one shows it while i was disconnected twice in less than a minutethink this is on my end or my ISP?
I've recently acquired a Linksys E1200 router--which is more than a week old--from the recommendation of a friend of mine. The service is great and all, but the one thing that frequently bothers me is the seeming constant instability of my router's model. There are moments when the router performs smoothly, but there is as much an instance because the router doesn't seem to work at all even when the lights (and the accompanying connection) on my modem seem to be working in good order.
I know that a router will always have its problems, but this is really a constant problem with the E1200; and if so, if there's any way possible on how I can be able to "stabilize" the said router's performance.
Recieved this E4200 as a repplacement for a v1 that kept dropping wireless connection. Now after about 1.5 months the router keeps rebooting. Tried resetting, etc...no luck. Calling Cisco now.

I have an E4200 v1 wireless router. Intermittently, my hard wired laptop (and hard wired desktop) loose Internet connnectivity and when I look at the 4200 I see the status light flashing slowly like it was just rebooted. I am runnong 1.0.04, have reset to factory, reflashed the 1.0.04 code and done a 30-30-30 reset (so far no drops since the 30-30-30 reset but we'll see).
