Aug 2, 2011When I go into the Network Settings, and the end of the page I find a list named "Number of Dynamic DHCP clients: 7". As far as I know, I should only see 4, all 4 laptops; however, I see 2 UNKNOWN entries in this list, and one name "Macondo". Each of these entries have an option (a link) saying "Revoke" and other "Reserve". I am just wonder if these entries are intruders in my home network. What should I do? I am afraid to break my internet connection. By the way, I set up every single one of my family 4 laptops at home with a WPA-PSK using a very long key.

Jul 18, 2011I have had my DIR-825 for a year and half. My computer that is wired directly to the router keeps losing the connection to the router - unable to obtain an address. All of my other devices (that are connected via wireless) still hold the connection with no issues. I've checked the cable, unplugged/plugged back into the router, and it shows connection on the network card on the back of the computer.I have used the system interface to ensure the address is a valid one. I have powered up and down the computer multiple times and have also powered down and up both the router and the cable modem.

Apr 4, 2012I have a wireless router (TP-Link) which I want to use to extend my wired dorm room cable connection.The "blue" network cable currently goes straight into my laptop and I have no control over its configuration.Is it possible to plug the blue cable into the WAN port of my router and then wire the computer back into a LAN port?BUT that's not really the major problem. Mainly I would like to know how the router must be configured to allow me to use other wireless devices in my room (phone printer etc).Someone told me that I "just" need to use the "bridge" setting but that turned out to be complicated by warnings and messages about other SSIDs.Is "bridge" really the right mode? It seems it's for connecting two wireless networks together.

Aug 12, 2012I've been using D-Link DIR-600 wireless router for two months with my ISP, SmartBro. A week ago my internet went down due to heavy rain and technical support had a home visit yesterday to re-activate my internet connection. My net connection came back smoothly using a direct connection from modem to laptop.When I tried to connect the modem to my wifi router, the internet was not detected. Even if I reset the router settings, no internet connection was detected. Initially, I thought there is a problem with my wifi router so I connected the modem to our Edimax wired router but still it could not detect internet access. Every time I open a browser while connected to a router, this message is shown (see attached screenshot).
I tried using another ISP, Wi-Tribe with both wired and wifi routers and everything worked well. So now I assume the problem lies with my SmartBro ISP. I called the ISP hotline but they told me that they do not provide support for router connection problems; only with single, direct connect to a PC.I asked a neighbor IT technician to look into my problem but he too could not solve the problem.
D-Link DIR-615 :: Router Won't Transmit Wireless When Local Wired Connection Is In Use
Aug 9, 2012the Xbox part was a windows thing. The router, modem, computer, and monitor, are all on one powerbar. I have used the used-to-be-wired computer (I needed the ethernet cord for something else, haven't gotten around to plugging it back in.) and the wireless laptop loses connection periodically. ALWAYS lose connection on bootup. and also when doing power consuming things. SO, I believe it is a lack of power being sent to the router. wired connections would use less, thats why they are still active, but I assume the wireless transmitter needs more energy in order to function properly. I haven't used the old computer in a awhile now, but I assume if I plug the router into another outlet/curcuit I the problem wouldnt occur. Might need someone wiht more knowledge to confirm this, but I'm fairly certain this was the cause.

Mar 29, 2013Every so ofter, the switch of the router just stops moving traffic between the LAN and to/from internet, though the WiFi keeps working and can still use internet.
I can still use the router's switch, and ping other computers on the local LAN, what happens is that the router stop routing wired traffic from/to internet, the rest of the issue is still the same, I opened reddit on my smartphone and there it was working via WiFi, but the would have none of it for the computers on wired LAN, not even accessing the router's page or telnet.
It is like some service or bridge between the switch LAN and the router itself dies... I'm still clueless.
The only "pattern" that I see is that my desktop is on line, because I can be not at home for 12+ HS and I can connect remotely to the server (rd p and trans droid) so I know it has internet access, but sometimes I think this happens when I turn on my desktop, like just now, this morning, but again, I feel is not every morning, trying to be more scientific about it I come here after every time it happens to record it, and also set the record straight about the issue description.
So, assuming it is not a hardware issue, because I did not had this problem in all 2011 and 2012, I do not overclock the router neither use other than default TX power level.
- How do I begin diagnosing this issue?
- If it is a known issue with this builds? I could no find it.
My goal is to be able to provide info for debugging the problem and possible finding a fix/workaround it. If it is indeed hardware failing, how do I even begin to diagnose it from that POV? The message is empty...
Even with the new build r21061 still happened two more times. Now the real problem to me, is that I cant even revert it to stock firmware, I tried even with:
- unplug router
- press and hold reset
- plug router
- keep pressing until power led blinks orange
- enter 192.168.0.1 (PC must have static IPA, i use 192.168.0.200)
Can't open 192.168.0.1 in FF nor chrome and does not even ping. [URL]. I just want to get it back to stock or do not hang up the switch-to-router(ing).

This laptop is pretty new and I had been experiencing some problems with Wifi and LAN connectivity to internet.
Initially there was a yellow mark over network icon but it allowed me to access Internet. I was not bothered then..Offlate this has turned ugly. The yellow icon would not allow me to connect to internet through wifi or LAN
Sometimes LAN would connect but now a days connecting to wifi has become a real task with most of the time having to trouble shoot the connection.
Troubleshooting gives me different suggestions which are as follows
a) DHCP not enabled over wireless networks....Trying to repair the same does not work
b) Your computer seems to have been configured properly.
c) Troubleshooting cannot solve the problem
I cannot connect to wifi in office and home. I had mcafee before but removed it completely using mcafee removal tool..

Nov 19, 2011I keep getting some additional IP addresses logging onto my home network that have an address outside what should be allowed by the router. The server is running at 192.168.2.1 and is set to only allow clients from 192.168.2.2 - 192.168.2.10 so a total of 9 clients should be allowed on.The problem is that something keeps logging in with an address of 192.168.169.2 or 3 etc. Sometimes more than one device at a time.I have assumed that it is some automated or virtual client as I'm pretty certain my network has not been breached. I have a 9 character password with a relatively random alphanumeric combination, although I haven't tried changing the password (I live in a share house with with a bunch of devices using wireless, so I haven't yet bothered). What I don't understand is how it has connected with the xx.xx.169.xx range at all. I have a Belkin 'Share' Wireless N Modem Router and at some stage there was a 'guest' network but that has since been disabled and I still am seeing the extra address. I have attached a screen shot of the DHCP client list on the router.The following is a list of devices that may be on the network at times, I'm thinking one of these may be responsible for the problem:
Windows Vista Desktop - Only LAN device
PS3
Macbook
Epson wireless printer
Android HTC Desire Mobile Phone
Laptops running various Windows versions (XP, Vista and 7)
A few thoughts I had:
- the android phone is capable of running a wireless hotspot, may have to look into it to see if if has been operating as an access point into the Belkin router, but assumed this wouldn't bring up clients connected to the phone on the home router.
- The desktop has PS3 Media server installed to stream video to the PS3 over the network (not that I have ever managed to get it to work), however this is not ever open on the desktop.
Linksys Wireless Router :: EA4500 - Unknown Device On Network
Apr 9, 2012I recently purchased a Linksys EA4500 Dual-Band N900 Router with Gigabit and USB. Everything set up great with no problems and after a day or 2 I managed to get all home devices connected (2 laptops, 2 printers, an iphone, 1 tv, 1 blu-ray, an old desktop, and a tablet). Everything was connected right and working and I installed the Linksys app on my iPhone which let me see what devices were connected and all that. Well, last night, an unknown device showed up as a connected device. It's labeled as: android_(insert string of characters) and has a MAC address. I've tried and tried to identify what this device is and I can't. Everything else on our network is still showing up independently of that device. I'm worried that someone using our connection and possibly putting our device security at risk. What can I do to A) try to identify what the device is and B) if it is an intruder, block it's access.

Feb 3, 2013my router is sitecom gigabit 300N. since the past week there is this yellow exclamation mark on the connection in the task bar, near the clock. if I pass the mouse over it, it says no internet connection, eventhough I'm connected to the internet and I'm writing this right now, this is on desktop pc and connected to router by cable. the same thing on my laptop that is connected through WiFi, the signal strenght is normal, but there is the same exclamation mark. I'm pretty sure its the router not the PC because this happens on two different machines with the same router. I tried turning the router off and left it that way for about 7 minutes but that didnt work. is there something in settings I should do? or throw it away and buy Linksys/D-link router?
