View 1 RepliesRecently the wireless internet connection on only one of my laptops is really laggy. By laggy I mean that usually the connection is ok, 20mbps, but like once in a couple of minutes the connection slows down to like 3mb for a minute or so ( Speedtest.net - The Global Broadband Speed Test) and when it does the connection becomes really slow. This is very annoying when browsing the internet or playing online games, because it causes connection losts, and slows down loading webpages etc. The problem has to do something with my laptop because on my other (wireless) laptops and the wired PC these problems don't occur. The problem also occurs when no other PC is connected to the network. My laptop is an Asus K53SV and my wireless adaptor is an Atheros AR9002WB-1NG Wireless Network Adaptor. My ISP is UPC (The Netherlands).

I have a problem with my tp-link router. I dont have an internet access of the router, updated firmware... When i connect to router by laptop the internet works fine, but when i connect to router by phone i have an internet access only 5 second and than i lost it, but still connected. I don't know what is the problem here, maybe phone?
I am experiencing random disconnects from the internet -- they have been occurring about 1-3 times per day, although I've just had four in the last 20 minutes.
ISP: Wow! Cable - 15/1Mbps
Modem: Motorola SB6121 (new)
Router: D-Link DIR-655 (new) Firmware 2.00NA
When the internet disconnects:
- Both the LAN & the WAN are affected, but I do not lose any wireless connectivity with the router itself.
- I am able to log into the router wirelessly but cannot access the modem.
- If I plug my laptop directly into the modem, I can connect to the internet.
- When I reboot (using the on/off switch on the surge protector), everything comes back up.
There are a couple of other wireless routers nearby with fairly strong signals, but they appear to be running on different channels.
My phones are DECT 6.0, so there shouldn't be any interference problems with those.
I've been poking around this forum, and have already made some setting changes that seem to be consistently recommended:
- Ensured DNS IP addresses are being filled in under Setup/Internet/Manual
- Turned off ALL QoS (DIR only) GameFuel (DGL only and if ON.) options. Advanced/QoS or Gamefuel.
- Turned off Advanced DNS Services
- Turned on DNS Relay under Setup/Networking.
- Setup DHCP reserved IP addresses for all devices on the router.
- Ensured devices are set to auto obtain an IP address.
- Set Firewall settings to Endpoint Independent for TCP and UDP.
- Using mixed G and N signal mode
- My security setting is WPA-Personal. WPA2-PSK
I am trying to get neighbour wireless router working. He has a D-Link DIR-615 Wireless N 300 Router. I have gotten the router working by manually putting in his PPPoE settings. Now with a wired XP SP3 computer connected via Ethernet, it can access the internet. We then configured his router for WPA2 with AES encryption. We were able to connect up his phone which can handle a WiFi connection. He was able to surf the web using the WPA2 passphrase. So far, so good. The last bit was the upstairs computer which has a PCI D-Link wireless N card in it. That computer runs XP SP2 and we have not been able to get it to connect to the internet. We have tried both Windows networking, and the D-Link Wireless management software. We were unable to get WPA2 working, so we tried WPA, WEP, and finally no security. In each case, we can get the computer to connect to the router by putting in the passphrase (except when no security), and the status changes to Connected. But then browsers are not able to open any internet site.
I have checked the ipconfig settings, they seem to be correct. DHCP is providing the computer with a valid local IP (192.168.0.102), and the gateway is correctly listing the D-Link router.Subnet mask is 255.255.255.0. The downstairs Ethernet connected computer has an IP of 192.168.0.100, so they are on the same subnet. We have tried turning "Windows Wireless Zero Configuration" service off, and also tried with it on.We have switched between using the D-Link client and allowing Windows to manage wireless settings. It finds the wireless network, and connects with the passphrase with a good strong signal, but internet persists in not working.I do not have MAC Filtering turned on.I have turned off the Windows Firewall on the wireless computer. What else am I missing?
I have a DIR 655 connected to cable DSL modem RCA DHG534. I can connect to the internet through the Ethernet cable ports, but i can't access the internet via the wireless. The SSID will show up on the wireless computer(s) and Ad's. Under Control Panel, Network Connections, Internet Gateway is shown as disabled.

Im using a Tp-link wireless router and I have a modem attached to my pc. I just noticed that if I turn off my router, the Ethernet light on my modem turns off, but the power and dsl lights are still on. Is there a way for me to use my pc even if my router is turned off? If I remember right, i've tried it before and it worked... But now, I have to turn on my router just for me to be able to connect to the net on my pc.

My network is like this: ISP TalkTalk---ADSL modem-----TP-LINK TL-WR740N---Windows XP computer. I have configured the device by running the CD but it says failed to verify. Then I tried to refers to Quick Installation Guide (Manual) , there have offer a address 192.168.1.1 to go to web based quick setup wizard. But this site is not available.Other Wi-Fi devices are catching its signals even they are getting connected to it after enter the set up password and username but internet access has not been made so far.
This router was just purchased this past week. I have 1 laptop, 1 desktop, and 1 netbook that is connecting to this (along with various smartphones). Set it all up according to the booklet, and ran into some trouble. When connecting through wireless, I only have "Local only" on the older laptop and desktop PC, but full internet access through the smartphones and the netbook. But, when I connect through LAN with the laptop, I have internet connection (only through LAN, not wireless). I suspect this also occurs on the PC, but the two are no where near each other to attempt. I installed the latest firmware version to no avail, and had done a full reset on the router and reinstalled it.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI recently went into my router and changed my security settings so that my router is WEP protected. I was having issues with somebody feeding off on my connection and causing problems with my Internet provider. I had changed it to be a secured network before but somehow it became unsecured. So, I set up an admin password and such so nobody else should be able to get into my outer . Anyway, after setting it up to with the WEP, now I cannot access the Internet from any other device except my main PC to which the router is connected.I usually get some sort of error stating that there is "limited on no connectivity" when I try to connect my laptop or Archos Home Tablet device. Yet, is reads that the signal strength is excellent and recognizes my network as existing.
View 7 Replies View RelatedI bought the DIR-655 last year and till within warranty. Yesterday, I lost the wireless network on my laptops but internet was working. I contacted the d-link support and during the process of troubleshooting the problem, the internet connection was also lost. I followed all instructions given to me by d-link teams that spoke with me but the problem was not resolved. I tried to call the d-link support but my calls were ignored . Up till now, the wireless and internet connections through DIR-655 are not working.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI have a new DIR-655: H/W Ver. B1; F/W Ver. 2.00 NA? It is solid as a rock to my wired computers, but the Internet connection (not the wireless signal) to my wireless devices (laptops and smart phones) occasionally drops out for several minutes, many times each day. It is not necessary to reset my router to reconnect; after a while wireless Internet returns on its own. I upgraded from another D-Link router and never had this problem. In my judgment the problem appears to be the router. why the wireless Internet connection might disappear and then reestablish itself?I used an app on my smart phone to select Channel 11. No neighbors have routers close to this channel. My cordless phones are DECT (1.9 MHz). My microwave oven does not cause this dropout.
The DIR-655 wireless settings are pretty standard:
- WPA personal security mode
- WPA mode is Auto (WPA or WPA2)
- Cipher is TKIP and AES
- Group key update interval is 3600 seconds
- 802.11 mode is mixed n and g
When this wireless Internet connection dropout occurs, the router's signal strength does not decrease; the Internet connection just disappears. Time after time I have confirmed that the integrity of the Internet connection remains solid on my wired computers and disappears only from my laptops and smart phones.I have checked the wireless spectrum when the wireless Internet connection disappears. There is no other signal, e.g., no neighbor's router on my channel (11), and the strength remains at 5 bars.
This router has to be rebooted every 12-24hrs to re-establish the internet connection.
View 14 Replies View RelatedI have a DIR-655, hardware B1, firmware 2.03NA. Sporadically, generally after the router has been on for 24 hours, I lose wireless Internet (WAN) connectivity. I can still connect just fine to the router interface. And if I plug in hardwired Ethernet, I can access the Internet just fine.I previously had a DIR-615 in operation with no problems.
-ISP modem Motorola SB6121 (stand-alone cable modem)
-QoS/traffic shaping off; also disabled advanced DNS (tried OpenDNS as well as Comcast defaults)
-DNS relay enabled
-Using reserved IP addresses on the local network, all devices are set to DHCP
-Enabled/disabled UPnP/multicast
-Tried all firewall options, including disabling
-Wireless using Mixed 802.11n/g; tried channel width 20/40 and just 20. Disabled auto channel scan and forced to -ch11. No other wireless interfering. Using WPA2 only, AES, with a 63char key.
-Disabled WISH
-Disabled WLAN partition, WMM enable, short GI.
-Cat6 between modem and router
Again, hardwired LAN connection seems to be fine. I've already RMA'd the router once. When wireless Internet doesn't work, it seems to be all affected devices (iPhone/iPad/MacOS/WinXP/Roku).
I have a working wired network and really all I want to do is set up my DIR-655 on it so that it provides internet only for wireless users, but doesn't allow access to the rest of the local network. I though that's what the Guest network would do, but when I connect to that I can still type in local IP addresses and get to those devices.
"Enable Routing Between Zones" is unchecked in the Guest Zone settings.
I have an dir-615 h2 with upgraded firmware to 8.03 instead of the default that was 8.02, now it crashes and i cant reach the router on cable or wireless. its dead and i have to restart it to work.. where can i find the h2 8.02 firmware.
View 7 Replies View RelatedSo I have a DIR-655 and my internet connection drops every day. I have replaced the DIR-655 with a linksys just to try it and it works fine. This has happened with more than 1 of these 655''s. Also I have clients calling saying the wireless drops and it will not let them reconnect until I reboot the router. I have updated to the newest firmware with the same issues. I know its not bad cause I have more than 1 655 doing the same thing at a different location as well.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have tried everything I can think of but since purchasing my 615-N router from DLink, I haven't been able to get online via wireless internet from another computer in this apartment. The router seems to be working fine - I have a LAN connection through it to this computer I'm on now and the PS3 hooked up to the wireless signal just fine. It is the one desktop computer though. The only thing I can think of is that I am using an old g adapter. I didn't think this would matter because the N router can supposedly communicate with g and b devices.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI bought this router a couple of months ago and it was working fine until this morning. I tried to use the internet and there was no connection at all (wired or wireless). I tried power cycling but that didn't work. I finally decided to call my DSL provider and we changed the setup from the router connecting to PPPOE to the modem connecting to PPPOE. Now, my two computers (wired) can access the internet but all my wireless devices (Android and BB) connect to the SSID (unique) but can't actually access the net.I called DLink but they decided to stop assisting me once I told them that my computers could connect but not the wireless devices. They said I need to call the manufacturers of my wireless devices - I really doubt that all 4 of my wireless devices are faulty.
View 11 Replies View RelatedSince I got my TP-Link 1043ND working in a previous thread I thought that my second router could be in good use at my brothers house about 50m from mine.I've got a modem in the basement, it's wired to the first router (TP-Link), the TP-Link sends wireless signals to five units, one of those units are my brothers computer. The Internet works fine on every unit. Now I thought maybe my brother will have better wireless signals to the first router if I connect a second router between. I guess the second router should be working like a switch then.I have the both routers MAC addresses. I got inside the first router and entered the WDS option, I chose LAN instead of Disabled and entered the second routers wireless MAC. Then I took the first routers MAC and entered it in the second routers WDS options MAC and Enabled it. It didn't work so I entered Static Routing Table on the second router and entered the first routers IP (started with 85.228) which I found in the dd-wrt menu. Then I entered same Netmask as the first router and the same Gateway with the interface LAN. No Internet access thou from the second router. The second routers LAN IP is set to 192.168.1.3 (the second router has 192.168.1.2 as LAN IP). DHCP is set to disabled at the second router. The funny thing is if I set the second router to the same LAN IP as the first router and the same DHCP settings with DHCP enabled it says that I have Internet Access but I can't enter the Internet

View 4 Replies View RelatedI have been having difficulty connecting to the internet at my new place, I'm starting to think that the network card I recently bought (D-Link DWA-552 XtremeN Desktop Adapter) might have a problem, but I am not sure. I am currently using my landlord's internet, so I don't have access to the router to turn it on and off, which Windows suggests doing constantly, but I don't think that's the problem because I have internet on all my other wireless devices (Phone, PS3, Xbox).I am able to see the router most times and connect to it, but I am unable to connect to the internet, the networking image in the bottom corner has a yellow warning sign. Also, after a certain amount of time, the wireless card is unable to detect any wireless signal, the networking image in the bottom corner has a red X through it. I disabled all networking interfaces besides the wireless card because of an error message that I thought may have been caused by it: "This computer is continuously switching between two or more wireless access points or routers", but disabling the other interfaces did nothing and the message still appears after troubleshooting.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm currently subscribed to Comcast's 22/5 Internet service. Internet upload speeds on both wired and wireless are about the same at ~ 5 Mbps. Wireless download speeds range from .5-3 Mbps. Wired or Wireless, I receive LAN speeds of ~32 Mbps or 3-4 MB/s. The noticeable issue is wireless internet download speed. I have tried every configuration possible with my router, updated drivers on devices, firmware and tested everything I could on all PCs, and even used the XBOX 360's media extender network tuning feature as a tool in my investigation to find this bottleneck. All reports point to internet download speed. Again, general LAN and internet upload speeds relatively meet expectations. The wired download speeds are slow at times, but consistently meet expectations.

I've just ordered the TD-W8961NB to replace my set of Modem & Router by one device.
Actual I have TL-WR940N, where I managed the Wake on Lan over internet by a port forward on port 9 to the local IP and setting up an IP&MAC Binding for this machine in the ARP table. By reading the user guide of TD-W8961NB, I'm missing the ARP Settings. Is there any chance to setup the WOL over Internet on this ADSL Router?

I own a TL-WR1043ND. Until recently it has been working like clock work but after a power cut it seems to have lost its settings. Currently there is a WiFi network: both my iMac and my MacBook Pro manage to create a network between them and i can access / transfer files from one to the other without any problems what so ever. My Gmail app on my iPhone also updates emails on this same network. But when i try to browse the web on both Safari or Firefox or check my email on Mail (OSX email client) I am not being allowed to do so. Its as though there is not internet connection. The same thing is happening to my wife when she is using her Nexus 7.
Unfortunately i have lost my DVD with the setup files and I am there for not managing to access the settings of the router. I have tried searching the web to find the downloadable software but it turns out the only ones that i found are for Windows only. The only way to access the web and update my emails etc is when i connect to the modem via Ethernet cable.
