She lives in a big house so what I have done is used a tp-ling adsl router (router 1)at one end of the house with a ip address 192.168.1.1 a cat 5 cable runs to the other end of the house with a TP-Link wireless router (router 2) at the other end of which I have changed the ip address to 192.168.2.1 as it was conflicting with the first router (they had the same ip).So I connected one laptop to the router 2 and it connected to the internet no problem. I did an ipconfig and its gateway was 192.168.1.1 (router 1). I connected a second laptop and straight away it connected to the internet and had the same gateway ip.I try to connect a brand new laptop and it wont connect. It can only see router 2 (192.168.2.1) I have ping'ed 192.168.1.1 but its not accessable. I have gone into the dhcp and changed the default gateway to 192.168.1.1 on the laptop but still won't work.It must be a setting on the new laptop that needs changing. Its on W7 home.

So downstairs i have a netgear g router, this is then hardwired to a switch, from there i have another cable running upstairs and into my d link router.I am using snow Leopard OS, and using VMWare was able to use the quick setup on the associated disc but could only reach the stage where i connect my ethernet to router before it would display an error message stating it was unable to find a router.I then tried manually setting up the router online using

but was unable to get a working connection running over the wireless and i was only able to give this page when hardwired to the d link router.
I have w7 and the D-Link DIR-655 router.I just replaced the same router that crapped out on me.I'm online with no issues but for some reason, I can't map some of my computers to one another. At first, it seemed like it was going well on a couple of them. Others ask for the windows password.I'm not sure, but I think it's the Homegroup password?I remember one of the the homegroup passwords and all computers are joined, but the only password I recall/know isn't working on any computers.
Questions: Can't I map network drives through the router functionality and do away with the homegroups altogether? I'd really like to do that. I'm not really impressed with homegroups.
if the answer is no, how the heck to I figure out or get new passwords? This wasn't an issue in the past. Not sure if somehow, I changed a setting?While searching around, I found the "manage credentials" area. Never noticed before.

I`ve run into some trouble connecting to the internet after unplugging my router & modem yesterday and when i plugged them back in again i can`t connect to internet anymore.My computer have a wired ethernet cable connection and i also have a router (D-link DIR-635) giving internet to my iPhone & iPad.When i connect the ethernet cable from computer directly to the broadband modem i get internet without any trouble but when i connect it via the router, i keep getting "unidentified network" error i windows 7.Here`s what i`ve done so far trying to solve this,1. Uninstalled the driver for my network card (Realtek RTL8168C(P)/8111C(P) Family PCI-E Gigabit Ethernet NIC (NDIS 6.20) and re-installed but without any luck..2. Resetted the router & also changed to another router (D-link DIR-615) with the exact same results.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have the Dlink DIR 615 router, windows 7, and this morning, it suddenly started to shutdown and restart, over and over. I unplugged all ethernet connections, shut down, etc. and slowly added the PC, then the phone, until when I plugged in the Western Digital 2TB My Book live, it would begin the same restart process. I can now repeat the issue by unplugging, and replugging the drive. I have had the network drive for about 3 months, and this started today.

I have decided to buy a new wireless N enabled wireless router after my house was cleaned out by some robbers. After a long investigation I decided on the D-link DIR 655 as it suited my basic needs the best and since I haven't decided on a broadband supplier yet this should sort any and all possibilities no matter what I choose...
After an equal amount of investigation I decided on a HSPA+ USB dongle only to find that the router does not support the network I have purchased it on. It thenalso seems that it doesn't support the E1820 Huawei dongle either... so fine... I go and buy a Huawei D105 tht should technically be able to connect via the WAN port and would act as an internet gateway. Brilliant.
Now I have tried everything.... static IP on the D105 with a static IP setup on the 655. Connects fine... according to the web interface but NO INTERNET. When I connect my laptop directly to the 105 via CAT5 it works beautifully. DHCP on the D105 with the same on the 655. Connecting... Establishing Link (Please Wait...) FOREVER without ever getting an IP on the 655 (according to the web interface again) ... must be the D105 thats faulty so again plug in the laptop and within milliseconds the IP is assigned and Internet is blazing along again.... The D105 is not Wireless N so I cannot use it as my primary AP and only allows 5 simultaneous wireless connections (that is reserved for my cellphones). Why should I anyway?? the DIR655 should work fine....
Even after having taken it to D-link support at huge cost and effort I still don't have a working rig.... Seems the consultant plugged the D105 straight into the LAN on the 655 and then set his laptop to the same static range to get it to work... SURPRISE - I know that works since plugging the laptop straight into the 105 does the same thing.... But this is not what I want... I want my 655 to be the primary DHCP server for my network and control the allowed workstations that are allowed access to the internet with a working gateway. Bridging is apparently also not an option as that option has been removed so I cannot even bridge my main subnet onto the D105's internet sbnet... What am I to do....
If the 655 3G setup supported more than 2 dongles I might hve been able to use that and not spend anouther R600 on the D105, if the WAN port actually worked in either static or DHCP modes with the D105 that also would have solved the problem and lastly if all else fails and there was still bridging I could hack my own setup together to do what I want. Seems like I was wrong in selecting the D-link product.
Then to make matters worse I find another product with double the features online for half the price that integrates the 3G capability into the route and support more than 2 different models. including all the new Huawei dongles....
I bought a DIR-655 today so i can port trigger to all my xbox's instead of only being able to port forward to 1 xbox from my Netgear CGD24N. My problem is setting up a stable network that wont drop out.
What i am trying to set up: Internet --> Modem (Netgear CGD24N) <---> Router <---> Everything else (2 Xbox's, 5 Computers, Phone's)

They are both set to DHCP as that is the only way i have been able to create a network that i can connect to the net through my router. Problem is it is constantly reconnecting and only getting speeds of 2mb dl and 1mb up. (I should be getting speeds of 30mb dl, 2mb up.)

Here's the story:
I am using my landlords wireless internet, but I administer the router myself. The router is 'upstairs' and i am 'downstairs' and he has his computer plugged into it plus one wireless laptop. He knows nothing about computers and is vulnerable to downloading viruses (and other ****) and I don't want my computers to be on the same 'network' as his.
I had a brilliant idea that since I am 100% wireless, I can make a guest network, put all my computers on that network and disable routing between them. Now all of my computers (some connected through a wireless bridge) can not see his computers at all (perfect!). The only problem now is I can no longer access the router config pages at 192.168.0.1!
Is there any way I can segregate my computers from his and also access the router config? I've tried accessing the WAN IP for the remote admin pages from inside the NAT, but it still blocks it.
I have a TP-Link TL-WR720N wireless router, and I am trying to set it up so that it limits the times that my kids can access the internet. I have included screenshots of all of the programming pages, so you can see exactly what I am looking at. Here is what I have done so far:
Schedule: I created several schedules for different days, weekdays, weekends, start at 1900, end at 2100, etc.
Host: I created a host name titled "All", and set it for 192.168.0.3 ~ 192.168.0.199. The router assigns from 192.168.0.2 thru 192.168.0.199. I assigned my computer's MAC address as the "Parent PC", and bound it to 192.168.0.2, through the "IP and MAC Binding" function. In this manner, I hope to limit the kids access, while allowing the parent PC to access it at any time.
Rules: I selected the option to "Allow" passing of packets during these hours. I then created rules, assigning the host "All" to the different schedules that I created. I set the target as any, and did not set up any targets in the target section, because I do not want to control what sites they visit (yet, anyway). I generally don't worry about the sites they visit, I just think they spend too much time on the internet.
Here is what happens. I use my laptop (not the parent PC) as a test machine. When trying to access the wireless, i have verified that the router does give me an IP address within the specified range I created in the schedule. If I set the Access Rule to "Allow" the packets to pass through the router, and try to connect during the time it is set for, it will not allow my laptop to even connect. The weird thing is, if I set it for "deny", I can connect, but I have no internet access. Either way, if I have any of the rules enabled, I cannot access the internet at all. Thinking maybe there was some sort of conflict with schedules, I tried enabling only one of the rules instead of all of them, with no change.
What am I doing wrong? Do I need to set targets? If so, does this mean I have to set one for every site I want them to be able to visit? Can I set a target as the IP address of the router? If so, what ports do I use?
I have a cabled network printer, Xerox Phaser 6125n, that have always worked properly from my 3 desktop computers and my laptop.A few days ago, my old dlink router went dead, and I replaced it with the TP-Link WDR4300 router. Everything worked as usual afterwards, until I found out I could no longer print on my printer. I can access the printers web interface through the ip adress, change settings and such through the browser, but the printer has offline status in windows and print jobs never leaves the print queue in windows. I tried deleting the printer in windows (tried both windows 7 and 8) to reinstall it.

View 14 Replies View RelatedI have just purchased a DCS 2121 (I assume that it is a similar model to the DCS 920 in US).I have this setup:
- Connected the DCS 2121 wireless to my Belkin Router with a fixed IP address. Firmware version 1.4 is installed on the camera.
- I have a Synology 209 NAS server with surveillance station that I have connected to the Camera.
I all works fine for 5 minutes to a couple of hours at which point the DCS 2121 loose connection to the Router and does not try to reconnect. If I turn the Cam on and off it will reconnect - and then loose connection again af a short time.This is totally frustrating since the purpose of the Cam is to work as a surveillance cam - it kinda loose its value by not being connected...

Router TL-MR3220 works well on 3G network, but is not works 2G (edge) network. 3G network is not suported in my location, only 2G. My modem is Huawei E 173. In location 2G network Router show: 3G/4G USB Modem: Unplugged.
Changed from D-Link to Netgear router now only one of two computers cannot see the other. Error shows cannot connect to MSHOME network, need administrative approval. Computers are ethernet connected to the router. Have McAffe and both computers are "Trusted" Can do a search with XP and it shows the missing computer but unable to make a connection.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI have 2 Windows 7 desktops that are both connected to seperate vonage boxes and those vonage boxes are connected to my D-Link DIR-655 router. That D-Link router is getting its connection from a Comcast router. I am looking to get one of the desktops to share a printer from the other one which has it hard wired via USB cable. When I first set this up I did not have the vonage boxes and the desktops were connected right into the router and everything worked fine. Now that the vonage boxes are in place it is a mess. I can get internet fine on both machines, but no file/printer sharing. I have followed all the steps to setup the correct workgroup and file and printer sharing options on both windows 7 machines but they cannot see each other at all. My feeling is that now that the vonage boxes are there that instead of the desktops looking at the D-Link router for its sharing option they are looking at the vonage boxes and that is why they cant be seen. Does this make sense? Is there a firewall on the vonage boxes stopping these two desktops from seeing each other? Do I have to change something on the D-Link router options for it to give access to the vonage boxes for these 2 machines to see each other for printer/file sharing?

View 4 Replies View RelatedI've recently upgraded my internet provider to BT and received a BT Home Hub 3 as the new wireless router.Previous to this I was using a wireless Belkin G + MIMO ADSL router (model number F5D9630-4).There are places in the house where the wireless signal is very poor. Connecting to the internet using either of these routers is difficult in these spots. However, since the Belkin is now spare, I've been thinking about trying to use it as a low cost repeater (i.e. free) to extend the wireless range in the house.There are several good articles that I've found on this site which address the connection of two routers together (e.g. John Will's article on connecting two SOHO routers is a good example), but they rely on an ethernet connection between the two routers. Any way to establish a wireless link between the two routers to extend the range of the current wireless network.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI bought a DIR-655 for my parents after their old router died in a planned power outage. It's a rev. B1 model running the 2.00 firmware. It worked fine initially for a day or two with great wireless coverage, even in the previously low-signal spots in the house.Then the problems started. The router now has trouble loading any website. What you get is instead a page returned from the router saying something along the lines of "network unreachable, please check you internet settings" (I will go there today or tomorrow so I'll update the post with the specific error). Refreshing the page a few times sometimes makes it load, but extremely slow and then the same thing happens again a few moments later. The same thing happens on both wifi and through the router's LAN ports. If I connect a computer directly to the modem it works just fine, as it has always done before getting this router.I have disable QoS, NAT endpoint filtering and the firewall (SPI). I have also set the WAN port speed to 100Mbit/s in the router, to match what the modem is set to (also had issues with the default setting).

I am trying to connect my DishNetwork DVR up via a wireless link to the E3000.My home network consists of a Linux Server acting as a router/gateway for a DSL link, with several pc's (XP/MAC/Linux) connected on a local 10/100 lan.The existing lan addressing scheme uses static IP's and the DVR requires a DHCP link.I thought the E3000 would solve that issue by using it's DHCP server capability to host the DVR wirelessly and integrate it into the rest of the lan.I set up the DHCP and reserved an IP address, which the DVR pick's up just fine, but although I can ping the gateway and DVR in both directions, I am unable to access the internet.I've tried to set up a static route, but I think I'm not doing it correctly. View 2 Replies View RelatedMy situation is as follows: A modem in the hallway closet with an internet connection via a coax cable. A living room with an i Mac and a Philips PFL9604 TV connected to the wireless network. The wireless network is provided by a new TP- Link TL-WR1043ND router which is setup next to the modem.
I would like to do the following:
Stream content such as HD movies, shows etc from the i Mac to the TV. Use the TV to watch missed shows with the apps on the TV via internet. Make use of the internet speed upgrade (75 - 150 m bit/s) which will come in a few months. However the signal of the router currently isn't strong enough to maintain a stable connection since it's too far away. The distance from the router to the TV and the i Mac is 12 meters and 6 meters with a wall in between as well. Now I can't move the modem from the hallway closet else the signal to the modem will be too weak nor can I wire an utp cable from the hallway to the living room and put the router there.
I have come up with two possible options now:
Use power line adapters by plugging one into the hallway socket and one in the living room so I can put the router there.
I currently have these power line adapter to try out, however my internet connection occasionally drops while using these adapters. Take the old WRT54GL router or a second TP- Link TL-WR1043ND and use WDS to create 1 network and have good coverage in the living room. The i Mac and TV can then be connected via Ethernet cables to the second router if necessary. I assume it would be best to place the second router closest to the first one for the strongest signal.
The second options seems the best to me as the power line adapters don't seem very promising based on my experience so far. I would like to know if connecting two routers is a viable method to obtain good and stable coverage in the living room?
My home desk top is set up with D-Link Xtreme N Dual Band Router. I have no problems accessing the internet on my desk top computer. I am trying to access my home wireless network through my HP laptop computer. The wireless network status is Limited or no Connectivity. I've tried the "repair" button with no resolution. The wireless connection is set to automatic.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have an EA2700 running latest firmware 1.1.38.138827. It is using Cisco Connect Cloud. I am unable to access the DHCP Reservations link under Connectivity/ Local Network. When I click on it, nothing happens. I've tried multiple browsers including IE 10 (Windows 8 RTM), Firefox 15, and Chrome 21. I also tried on a Windows 7 machine with IE 9 and the link doesn't work on that either except that it shows a box that says Invalid Character when I click on the DHCP Reservations link. I see no invalid characters on the screen. Any workaround other than downgrading the firmware or assigning static IPs on individual PCs?Also, on an unrelated note, where is the Dynanic DNS configuration on the Cisco Connect Cloud?
View 8 Replies View RelatedI seem to be struggling to connect more than 4 cameras to my (ISP-supplied) modem/router by Netgear CGD24N via WPS. I'm on my 5th camera now (already have 3x 930L and 1x 942L) but the newest 942L just won't connect to the network at the moment and there's definitely no faults here as I swapped cameras today at the local retailer (and got an A3 942L!).I've even tried connecting the camera to my wireless extender (Netgear WN3000RP) but no luck there.
So far it has only worked twice for short periods of time (enough for me to configure the cameras) but since then I can't actually get it working. I've got a couple of spare wireless routers lying around too and should be receiving a DIR-600 soon (from the Netgear promotion in Australia) which could be useful?
