this printer is connected to our schools network...in the lab I'm in, we have different subnet and my tech computer and the lab pcs gets dhcp from router connected to same new network switch as printer. I can ping the printer and pull up menu in browser but cannot print.
View 6 RepliesWe have a new building coming online. It is a layer 3 connection (OSPF) between our core and this building. I have a handful of VLANs configured at this building (using VTP) and I'm having a problem with only 1 of them (the printer VLAN).From the print server (a virtual machine who's host is directly attached to our core switch - a Cisco 6509), I can NOT ping any of the printers at the remote building. But I can ping the gateway for that vlan (which is on the L3 switch/router for the building - a Cisco 3750X).However, if I put a laptop on that vlan at the building, I can ping the print server as well as the other printers.
I ran a traceroute from the print server to the printer's IP address and after hitting the building's router, the requests just started timing out.
I double, triple, and quadruple checked the laptop and printer configurations. In my troubleshooting,I even created a DHCP scope and added the ip helper-address to the interface vlan. My laptop, connected to a switchport on that vlan received the IP address, DNS server info, etc. from the DHCP server (which is on the same vlan as the print server). From my laptop, I could get to all of our internal web servers. I configured the firewall to allow that IP range internet access, and had full internet access on my laptop.But still, I could not ping my laptop or the printers from the print server.
No change in the traceroute.
I then created a vlan interface on the access layer switch (a stack of Cisco 2690Ss) that the printers and my laptop were connected to.From the print server I *could* successfully ping that vlan interface.Traceroute went right to it (3 hops from print server - core switch, router at building, vlan interface on distribution switch).But I could still not ping the laptop or any printers from the print server.
I even wiped out all config related to this vlan - the vlan interfaces on the distribution switch and the L3 switch, deleted the vlan itself, the router network statement, etc. Then rebuilt it all over again.Same results. I've compared every line of config for this vlan to other vlans where this problem is NOT occurring and can find no difference.
I just upgraded by Netgear router to the Netgear n600. I can no longer print to my Dell 926 All in One. I tried following the "Setting Up Your Printer" Instructions specifically steps 11 to 12 C but I receive an error message stating that the printer adapter was not able to join my network.

I am trying to configure a 3300 Wireless Print Adapter with a NET GEAR WNDR3700 Wireless N Router. During the Configuration if I have no security set up on my network, the 3300 establishes a connection. If I however, turn any form of security on ( WEP, WPA-PSK [TKIP, WPA-PSK [TKIP] + WPA2-PSK [AES] ), the Connection fails. No security is not an option.
This happened while switching routers. The 3300 worked fine on my D-Link Wireless G router (WEP). I was wondering how to resolve it.?

- I can ping the modem which means the laptop the link between modem and laptop is working while I can not ping any address or website even the provider's DNS. At the same time, if I connect the LAN cable, every thing is working properly. I tried with different laptops and there was no problem. To resolve the problem temporarily, I have to restart the modem or change the IP for my wireless card. In this case it works for another 30-60 minutes. the issue is the same when I use different modem.

When I connect the computer to internet via ethernet the connection is stable. When I run a diagnostics on the wireless card all pass, except the internet IP ping. I get the following message:

I have a new 3560G to set up a small network for a remote site. I configured the vlan and an SVI as the gateway. The switch is also the DHCP server for the LAN. I configured Gi0/2 as L3 port, connecting to the nearest neighbor. My network runs EIGRP so i advertised the routes into the EIGRP process. The switch forms EIGRP neighbors and learns all routes in the enterprise network. The problems I'm having now are: 1. The switch learns all routes in my enterprise LAN and can ping devices in the enterprise LAN, but I can’t ping any interface on the switch from the enterprise LAN. 2.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI set this up and I can ping all the gateways but never the hosts. I was hoping I could make these links between 6500's a mix of L2 and L3. Check it out. They are connected in a linear fashion R1--->R2--->R3. I can ping from R1 to R3's SVI4 gateway but I can never ping a host on that SVI4. I was hoping that I could use the port-channels between 6500's as routed links or as trunk links depending on the type of traffic....thought it would ease the migration. I suppose I could always get rid of the port-channels and just make separate L2 and L3 links between the 6500's.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI had both a Westell 7500 and a Linksys Router working fine and had my 360 setup as an extender for Windows Media Center so I could stream TV, Music, Movies, etc from my desktop to the 360. Then I switched my modem/router out with a Zyxel PH5001Z
So now today I noticed that I can no longer find my desktop through the XBox. I have adjusted my firewall settings on the modem itself, even completely disabling it. UPnP is enabled for the 360 and the device is showing under my device table. At first I wasn't able to ping any network devices but after creating an ICMPv4 Firewall rule it worked fine. I've confirmed the XBox IP Address through Network Map, the Device Table on the modem and through Network Settings on the XBox. I've diabled my modem firewall as well as Windows Firewall, completely and I still can't ping my XBox or set it up as an Extender.
I have the XBox connected wirelessly using WPA2-Personal and it's operating in 802.11g/n mode.

I have an HP L7590 printer I'm trying to hook up to my wife's computer so she can print from it. Her desktop computer and the printer are in the same room and I know I should probably just get a long usb cable and hook it up to her Vista machine when she needs to print but I've been trying to network it so she can just print easily. I have the Ethernet cable running from the printer to the Motorola SBG6580 modem. The modem is hard wired directly to her desktop and I just use my laptop wireless. I have Win7 on my laptop. I've configured all the network connections and we are sharing. Her desktop does see the printer both wirelessly and stand alone connected. I've tried to connect both ways but no joy. I've even been able to do a test print from her machine but that's all it will print for some reason. It looks as if it will run the print and it shows the printer icon in her taskbar but it won't print.

Although odd, after removing the printer from printers and devices, it always reappears and has an exclamation mark on it. I have reset the home network router, the print server, and restarted multifunction printer devices several times. On occasion, after resetting the network, the printer will print something that was backlogged in my print que many sessions ago. To get a better picture of my current network, it's current set up is as follows: My home wireless router is a Dlink- DIR -655. I have the laptop and desktop connected to the wireless router via ethernet cable. The print server is a Dlink dpr-1260, connected to the printer via usb. The print server is connected to the wireless router via ethernet cable. The desktop is running windows vista and the laptop is running windows 7. I am able to successfully login to the print server through my network at its IP address. From there I run the print wizard and successfully download and install the print drivers. I click yes to confirm print test page. Soon thereafter, a message pops up saying "This program may not have installed correctly."
I am beginning to lose patience as this has been an ongoing problem for a few months now. I do not know where to begin or what to replace. It seems as though when I attempt to install or reconfigure a computer from the network, the printer and associated devices begin having issues. So once again I am running laptop windows 7 with service pack 1 64-bit; windows vista desktop; DIR-655; DPR-1260; and Brother MFC-8440.Everything is connected via ethernet. I am running avg antivirus software and comodo firewall on both computers.
