I have a Ricoh printer hiding on a Dlink DIR-655 with a 192.168.10.101 address. This gateways to 192.168.1.1, which is a Westell DSL modem. I need to allow wireless accounts on the Westell modem to communicate with, and only with, the Ricoh printer.

I have been having trouble printing from my laptop computer and desktop computer. I have installed and reinstalled the print drivers on both computers. Although odd, after removing the printer from printers and devices, it always reappears and has an exclamation mark on it. I have reset the home network router, the print server, and restarted multifunction printer devices several times. On occasion, after resetting the network, the printer will print something that was backlogged in my print que many sessions ago. To get a better picture of my current network, it's current set up is as follows: My home wireless router is a Dlink- DIR -655. I have the laptop and desktop connected to the wireless router via ethernet cable. The print server is a Dlink dpr-1260, connected to the printer via usb. The print server is connected to the wireless router via ethernet cable. The desktop is running windows vista and the laptop is running windows 7. I am able to successfully login to the print server through my network at its IP address. From there I run the print wizard and successfully download and install the print drivers. I click yes to confirm print test page. Soon thereafter, a message pops up saying "This program may not have installed correctly."
I am beginning to lose patience as this has been an ongoing problem for a few months now. I do not know where to begin or what to replace. It seems as though when I attempt to install or reconfigure a computer from the network, the printer and associated devices begin having issues. So once again I am running laptop windows 7 with service pack 1 64-bit; windows vista desktop; DIR-655; DPR-1260; and Brother MFC-8440.Everything is connected via ethernet. I am running avg antivirus software and comodo firewall on both computers.
Some time our office network will block by print server, when i close it our network work properly, why it is happening and how it will solve ?

I have a windows 7 desktop and can connect fine to a wireless HP 6500A Plus wireless printer on the same home network that my computer is connected to. So my computer prints wirelessly just fine.
She needs to print onto this same printer. We just spent 2 hours on the phone with a tech support guy from her work and we can't get it.
I'm computer savvy but not familiar with VPN's at all. How do we get her laptop, connected through VPN, to connect to the printer on my home wireless network.

3 Computers 2 using vista - 1 using XP. Printer is a HP 2727nf. Will work for a couple of jobs then receives an error code and will not print anymore for any computer. Only a hard reset of turning the printer off and clearing out the queue will print the job that was getting stuck. Wondering if anything can be done so error code won't show up and we can get this printer to run smooth again. PS we have another HP printer that works fine on the network.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a small network of computers and printers in my tax office and consist of three computers running in window xp professional, one computer is designated as the server workstation and the c drive is the share drive and the other two work stations are mapped to the share drive c on the server workstation . so i am using peer to peer networking and these three computers are connected by a seven port router and two other printer are attached to the router also. i am having a problem printing from the computers to these printers, one is a hp laserjet 4200 and another is a hp laserjet all in one 3055.
In the past i just click and i would print, but a few day ago when i click print from either workstation it would que it to printing but it would have a message that it could not find my printer on the network. dont know why it all of a sudden stop working. do not know anything about setting up a printer on a network. do note the printers are connected to the router and not directly to the server workstation computer via usb. So the two workstation and the server workstation have the printer software on the C drive of each computer but for some reason it could not find the printers on the network. How to network a hp laserjet 4200 and Hp laserjet 3055 in a network that is connected by by one seven port router. why is the printers not in the network?
The printer, EPSON SX515W Series, is connected to the old computer, plugged in. The other laptops were not connected to the printer and would print as wireless. However now only the old computer prints directly to the printer, the other laptops fail to print it says that the laptop has the EPSON printer as it's default printer yet when ever I try to print, an exclamation mark in yellow triangle appears on the icon, in the control panel>printer section. Troubleshoot does not fix the problem either.The other problem is I can't remember how this was set up as my dad did it, and he will kill me if I don't fix it back. Also the old computer is different to the laptops. Old computer has Windows XP, and the laptops are vista.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI don't see a forum for the DIR-665 so I am posting this here.I have setup my network using the DIR-665. I can print to my network printer (not plugged into router usb it is a Network printer) from WIN XP and Mac Snow Leopard and Lion via a network cable.
When I connect to the router via WIFI it shows the printer is ready. Then I click print and it starts trying to find the printer but then fails saying the printer is not on the network.
I am currently having a problem connecting a hardlined (ethernet connected) PC to a wireless printer. I want to know first of all if this is even possible. If so, how can I make this work? I know just enough about networking to be dangerous, but not enough to see what I am doing wrong. My network structure is as follows:
a 2Wire wireless modem/router provided by my ISP. a win xp laptop connected wirelessly a vista laptop connected wirelessly a win xp pc connected via the 2Wire ethernet port a Lexmark 4530 printer with wireless adapter connected wirelessly wireless config is WPA-personal (TKIP)
The laptops are able to print to the printer, but that is only because I used the CD for the printer to setup the wireless printing. When I look at the network neighborhood on both laptops, the printer does not appear. This leads me to believe that the printer is not connected to the network, the laptops have just created a printer connection (the port designation leads me to believe this as it just shows Lexmark 3500_4500 and not an actual address). The hardlined PC can connect to the internet, but is not visible to either of the PC's. When I try to type in the IP address listed on the printers config page, it doesn't see it. I can ping it, but can't connect. I think my problem is in the connection of the wireless printer. I can see it in the connection screen of the 2Wire status page, but I have a funny feeling it isn't configured properly. There appears to be no way to configure the printer outside of using their "wireless connection utility wizard" on the CD.
There is one other twist to this, I have a Dlink DGL4300 wireless gaming router that I use for my XBOX and to give me additional hardline ports for other things. I don't have it connected right now (my box is out of commission waiting on parts), but I did have it connected behind the 2Wire before without any problems. I would like for it to remain this way once I have the printing problem resolved. I am using DHCP right now with auto assigned IPs, but I can reconfigure the network to whatever will allow me to get this to work properly.
I have been using the Wireless G broadband router WRT54GL for about a year now. Recently we bought HP laserjet network printer which is connected to the domain network with the ip range of 10.1.1.1 which is the same network linksys router is connected to. Since router always lease different range of ip (192.168.1.1) then all computers connected through router cannot print because they are in different network/ip range.is there a way allow wireless user to print to the same printer regardless of the ip difference?

I have it wired directly to the router and all pcs on the home network can see it, however when i select to do a test print, nothing prints to the printer and i get error. I had this setup using the d-link router with both the printer and the XP PC wired directly to the router and using the XP PC as a network pc sharing the printer to other pcs (Vista / Windows 7) on the home network.The printer is a Toshiba e-studio 160 series.. I re-added the print drivers for XP and still not able to print. Is there anything else I can try?

When I do, the router does not save my network password, but reverts back to some hidden password. I have tried changing it in Tools, but it keeps reverting. We are only given one ethernet port in the bedroom and dragging a 50ft ethernet cable between the bedroom and the common area in the suite is no fun. I have tried to far unsuccessfully. I think the problem is related to the 802.1x authentication that is used on the network. How to get it to work? So far I have disabled DHCP, UPnP and then plugged the first client LAN port into the ethernet port that is provided. I can connect to the router and access the admin panel but there is no connection to the internet. It also did not work plugging my computer into a second LAN port instead of connecting wirelessly.

I can search and browse youtube, but when I click on the video, the page loads but the video just doesn't load. I can see the play/pause button and the circle telling use the video is loading. Then that's it. Nothing happens. When I plug back my WNR2000, Youtube videos load fine. Same thing on my roommate's laptop. All of my German housemates have internet again, but my laptop does not show the network anymore. My wireless card picks up all the other signals in range, but not our router's. Unmanaged switch like D-link & Linksys was used and it worked pretty fine only for certain areas of the factory. Then office with more workers will be using managed switch to ensure the workers have decent connection to the local server.
Question is, why are some small offices' connection so ridiculously slow?

Tested - The main connection cable cannot go through the switch to distribute the connection. Even if there is only 1 PC linked to the switch, it will still be slow. It will be at it's max if it didnt go through the switch, but directly to the PC instead.
True enough that unmanaged switch aren't smart enough to allocate the speed, but why is it possible for some other part of the small office to have fast connection even by using the normal unmanaged switch?
