looking to equip the office with a hardware firewall. Just want to confirm its ability of fending of viruses before getting to the end user and/or spreading once there. Had an issue with a Alureon virus a few days ago, would like to prevent this from happening again.

8-Port Cisco Gigabit switch
Just bought myself an 825. I've got it set up and working, but how do I prevent wireless users from accessing the setup pages for the router?
I only wish wired access to the setup pages. I'm used to doing this on my old linksys, but can't find the setting on the new router.
Currently in my office have a TPlink wireless router (WR1043N), and Dlink 615 router.Below is my office's network organization.Internet-->TPLinkRouter(192.168.2.0)-->DlinkRouter(192.168.0.0)We want to host a demo website but we are afraid our network being attacked. So we wish to implement a DMZ network to hide our internal network from outside. My question is can i setup a dmz network with the above capabilities by using home routers?

How do I have the E4200 act as a WAP only or not assign IP addresses and push that responsibility to the TZ100?

I have just purchased a WAG120N and E4200 Router.I would like to use the WAG as modem only and leave all network activity to be managed by the E4200.i have an ADSL2+ service through iiNet.All of my home harware is wireless.Has anyone completed this setup, or know how this might be achieved.Full Bridge mode on the WAG is my obvious thought but the specifics have me a bit confused.

Connecting through a brand new DSL modem that I know works as I can get access through my old router.
My PC (Windows 7) is directly connected to the router. I got to the point where I named the router in the install process the first time, but then it hung.
Have tried to use the CD to re-setup with no success. I've tried the hard reset holding in the button for 10 seconds and unplugging but nothing has changed.
Our internet provider has no intention of providing a IPv6 DNS so I have a crippled at best service. We live in an area where our only option is through satellite service, so changing providers in not in the cards, yet.
If I "Disable" the DHCP Sever, the setup menu provides a method for me to force feed up to three Static DNS addresses, all with IPv4 addresses.
There are several locations that provide "free" DNS service, but how does one verify the security of such sites? Does Cisco keep track of the status of this kind of service or am I on my own? Cisco seems to endorse two DDNS services, but for home use, the extra charges seem otherwise unnecessary, and do not yet address the IPv6 question.
The first few that I have investigated that do provide IPv6 service also provide their addresses in IPv6 format. The E4200 menu does not seem to allow me to do that.
Am I going to be forced to live with crippled IPv6? I have already discovered a software product that has failed since changing routers, but works if I take my laptop to a particular WiFi location.

One is pc with cable, another one mac with wireless.SO my issue is that i can not connect none of them. I was trying to use cd that comes with router but he can not locate a router. Am I going to just simply Flash my 610 to default , disconnect it and pack it away , Setup my new E4200 , Plug in my E3000 into port 1 and go about giving it a separate IP Addy? Or can I expect a **bleep**? Any setup tips?

View 5 Replies View Relatedusing virus scanner over the network and this is related to my workplace. a pc with win xp can share all drives (including c:) over the network with another pc with win xp as well. let's say pc1 and pc2 (both with win xp). i can scan pc2 from pc1 once i hv shared all the drives. but for win vista n 7, i found out that it is not possible to share c:...yes, there are some ways to share it but the entire c: cannot be shared. n i also know that c: cannot be shared entirely due to security purposes. but can i bypass this only for virus scanning purpose? i know many will juz ask me to install the anti virus on the infected pc, but if possible i want to scan it over the network. if i hv to scan 20 PCs at the same time i find it easier to do it from a single pc than to install the anti-virus at every single pc.

This is one time access only, after that he is not allowed to access my wifi. To prevent him from accessing my wifi, I will have to delete the password that I keyed into his laptop.

Computer is now showing nonsigns of the virus but Internet is unable to connect to the wireless. My regular virus protection isn't working well either, it won't let me scan my computer and real-time scanning keeps turning off after I set it on.
