My keyboard was broken so plugged in a USB keyboard that doesn't have a fn button. I must have accidentally pressed something as my comp is asking me to turn in the wireless capability. There is no button on the computer and the light for wifi is off. How to turn this back on with a keyboard that does not have a fn button?
View 1 RepliesI was in the Wireless tab>Basic Wireless Settings and then I clicked the "Reset Security" button. I don't know what that did but I've been completely shut out of my connection ever since and I don't know how to fix it. I tried doing the install sequence of the router just now (Clone MAC address, then release and renew DHCP, power cycle modem, router, and PC) but it still didn't work.

I have noticed the Internet Connection Sharing button missing from the Win 7 machine for awhile now. As far as I remember I did not do anything untoward the Win 7 machine.

Not sure of the exact specs, but for this question, I'm not really sure it matters other than the fact that I am a diehard XP fan. Guess which OS I am using. It does not have an onboard NIC, so I am using a NetGear WG111v2 wireless adapter that I got at just about the same time as the computer. I recently moved in with some friends and they have wireless internet. I hooked up my pc, and proceeded to connect to the internet. I got a good connection, but the dreaded "Limited or No Connectivity." First off, I tried disabling the connection and then re-enabling. This had no effect. So, like always, I do a power cycle. Same thing. Ipconfig gives me a 169.254.x.x, nonroutable, ip address. I release and renew. No good. Reset winsock. No good. Device manager says my adapter is working and drivers are up to date. In any case, I uninstall and reinstall it only to find the same results as before. There are three other computers on the network, one of which is my laptop, that all connect and are provided private ips by the router.

Everything was working fine as always - then while I was in my Network and Sharing Center, and clicked on my ethernet connection, 'Local Area Connection 3', I accidentally disabled it. No big deal I thought, so I re-enabled the connection. Except for some reason, my connection is all screwed up now. The name of this connection was and always has been 'dkm2' and now it just says 'Network', with no internet access. I have unplugged the cord and plugged it into this laptop and it immediately recognizes 'dkm2' and connects flawlessly, so I know the problem is on the desktop computer's end, and not the cable or router. I have tried reinstalling the ethernet adapter, as well as reinstalling/updating all drivers for it.The network diagnostic tool turns up with a message that says the connection between either my ethernet adapter or router and the Internet is broken. No matter what I seem to try, I can't get my connection to go back to it's normal 'dkm2' connection and stop giving me a generic, disconnected 'Network'. I can't figure out what could have changed. All that happened was the disabling and enabling of Local Area Connection 3.

View 1 Replies View RelatedJust installed windows 8 on this laptop, everything is working fine, it has all the drivers etc. It does not seem to be picking up wireless for some reason. When I press the quick launch button for wireless absolutely nothing is happening, however it can pick up internet with the ethernet cable from the modem. Had a read of this and tried to install the FSC Launch Manager from the Fujitsu website still to no avail. Cant be the operating system either as it the same problem arose when i install a version of xp yesterday.

The orange light turns blue. Even though the light indicates that my wireless is on, I have to go to device manager>networking>802.11n>advanced then activate my radio for my laptop to pick up the wireless signals. The problem is that I have to do this every time I turn on my laptop, and its getting quite repetitive.

I read in the user manual that it is best to turn off the router when not in use for better security measures, but there in no power button on the router. So does this mean that the power cord would have to be unplugged from the electrical outlet each time to turn the router off? This is kind of inconvenient, especially where my cord is plugged in. I bought an 871w second hand with 124-24T IOS on it. I would like to enable QoS. When I use Cisco Configuration Professional to manage the router I click on QoS and it says it is not available. I know that the router itself is QoS capable.

Bought the Zyxel Wireless Range Extender to get wifi in farthest rooms in my house but set up is not working because BT have disabled WPS button on Home Hub 3 with my Infinity. Therefore they suggest I try manual set up. This requires browser wtih IP address 192.168.1.2 for Zyxel wireless extender WRE2205, This gives no result (page does not load in IE).
