I am trying to set a wireless connection and it says that the Wifi isn't on, which I believe, because I don't even know where the Wifi button is. And the computer didn't come with an owner's manual with a diagram of where and what every button is. Trying to set up PC for bf for Christmas. I am a mac user :P so I have lost my touch with PC's.

View 1 Replies View RelatedMy neighbour and i will share internet costs, we have visibility and about 200m distance. cantenna should be fine to connect us. i can connect to his WIFI with my laptop when close his house. the setup i would like,m but i'm not clear about:
a) i need an access point device to connect the cantenna to it first, then i would like to broadcast that signal via Ethernet to WIFI-N router to connect the 3 computers in my location.
b) what exact AP device should i purchase ? i already have Linksys E3200 wifi router but, so i'm not sure about the AP device or if that's what i really need to what i'm imagining.
Password has been resent but the connections is always limited and then disconnects shortly after making a connection.My iPhone can connect to the wifi but my computer can not.
View 2 Replies View RelatedSo here is what happened, it started two days ago. I use a wifi connection at work, it's an unsecure wifi and I don't know where it comes from. But I am able to get on here at work and do stuff... two days ago I tried and it let me on like normal, but then I couldn't get on websites, it said local access only... so I was like mmm that's odd and the little CD looking thing wasn't there it was just two computers on the bottom right hand corner of the screen. So I restarted after attempting a few times... same problem, finally after a while it let me online but it was very slow and kept kicking me off. When I would try to reconnect sometimes it wouldn't let me and it would give me the option to diagnose the problem or try a new network, I'd move around and finally get on.
I restored back to a day when it was working fine, I did a disc clean up, I used my CCleaner, I defragged my laptop. Still the same problem, my laptop is a Gateway computer running on Windows Vista... so today at first my wifi wouldn't work unless I was standing and holding it... which I found the higher in the air the better it stays connected it seems sometimes.I chatted with gateway and they gave me a few links to download which failed to download once they got to like 30% or so, so I am all out of options I downloaded the wifi link here Download free driver for notebook Gateway ML3109 (Windows 7, XP, Vista) - DriverPack Solutio since that is my laptop
Built in wifi causing blue screen of death. Disabled built in wifi and purchased USB N150 adaptor and blue screen of death has stopped. Download speed are 75% back to normal but surfing is extremely slow using chrome, IE, safari. Ethernet browsing is normal with no bugs or bluescreen.

View 1 Replies View Relatedhrome threw me a DNS lookup failed. I go into my network settings and I noticed that I had limited connectivity. It would switch between no network access and no internet access every few seconds. After a bit of fiddling around, I got it to connect through assigning myself a static IP. This isn't exactly convenient because I use this computer on multiple networks. When I try to have it on automatic IP, I get no IP address or default gateway when I do an ipconfig /all. It would appear that my router quit assigning my laptop an IP for no reason whatsoever. DHCP is enabled on the router, and all other devices work fine. What could possibly be the problem here? I'm 99% sure it's not an IP conflict either. It's not being MAC filtered because I'm on the thing right now posting this through a static IP. It's not my A/V because it's worked great in the past. Perhaps I should also mention it occasionally says "unidentified network" instead of the SSID

Should I persevere with this? I don't understand how this would work in terms of DHCP and routing IP traffic.I'm prepared to buy new kit if necessary (but not much). Most of my equipment is wifi enabled but due to the signal strength of my neighbour's wifi you have to be on the front lawn to get a signal.

View 1 Replies View RelatedJust installed windows 8 on this laptop, everything is working fine, it has all the drivers etc. It does not seem to be picking up wireless for some reason. When I press the quick launch button for wireless absolutely nothing is happening, however it can pick up internet with the ethernet cable from the modem. Had a read of this and tried to install the FSC Launch Manager from the Fujitsu website still to no avail. Cant be the operating system either as it the same problem arose when i install a version of xp yesterday.
