View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a 2 computer connected to the WRT54GS which is connected to the RCA DCM 425. It was initially fine, however now the internet is disconnecting at an absurd rate, at least 3 within an hr, sometimes more, and the only way it would reestablish connection is by unplugging and replugging.I have called time warner's customer support and they said it was because of the router. I have searched through various threads and saw and some had similar problems, but they were related to wireless instead of wired ( my case) so is there some settings i can change within the linksys to minimize the amount of disconnections? Becaused based on the log from the RCA,it seems that they are not reading each other too well. Are there any other routers that may establish a connection better than the GS?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a Cisco PIx firewall that is connected to a cable modem with Time warner cable. I am supposed to have 35 down and 5 up for my speed on that modem. When I bypass the firewall and connect directly to the cable modem, I get download speeds in excess of 30 and upload speeds of about 5. However, when I connect via my workstation, which goes through the PIX, I am lucky to get speeds in the 1.2 for a download and 2-3.5 for the upload. I am using a laptop to test. We have gigabyte Cat5e cabling and gigabyte switches.
Below are statements from the config. The interface lines are per below:
interface ethernet0 100full
interface ethernet1 100full
interface ethernet2 auto shutdown
MTU outside 1500
How can i adjust this so I can make use of the 30 speed of the modem?

View 1 Replies View Relatedwe were happily getting along with our RCN cable Motorola modem and DLink wireless 655 until the last couple of weeks. The internet would intermittently not be available, without warning. First couple of times we power cycled the modem and router, and it worked, but then stopped being available altogether. I got some support from RCN, the cable provider (they own the modem and it's old, so naturally that was my first thought). I now have a new modem and the situation is exactly the same. The error message that I get is that the IP address for the network cannot be found.
I got internet access by bypassing the router, connecting the modem directly to my (Windows XP) PC, releasing and renewing the IP address, and power cycling the modem. However, the internet still intermittently shuts down, and of course turning off the computer necessitates the whole procedure again. And now we have no wireless. Should we assume it's the router, and a new one would solve our problem? Of do we just need to reset the IP address of the router?
I recently purchased a X2000 ADSL modem/router combination. For some reason the current time will not stay set to the time zone. Rebooting clears the discrepancy for a short time before it drops an hour exactly. I'm in the central time zone and the setting are correct on the basic setup.?

When I start-up my computer, it takes over an hour to find my router on my computer (Not on my brother's computer, or the computer upstairs). Once it does, it connect perfectly. This is very annoying because I do not have a lot of time anyway to work/play and when I do, it takes over an hour to find the router.Recently, I have been having HUGE lag spikes, constantly disconnecting from games and skype calls.

It returns back with the same address over and over. No matter what I ping when I am at home, it returns back with the same address. I can ping blah and it will display same address over and over. My galaxy tab has a difficult time connecting to my wifi. it seems that the only time my galaxy will connect is when i change the DHCP reserved IP address i setup for it. it wouldn't connect before i setup a reserved IP address. now my galaxy tries to connect over and over and won't until i change the reserved IP address by a few digits.the router is an older d-link wbr-2310. i know routers occasionally die, but this is the only problem i have with it.

I was going through the problems posted by some other user but observed that cisco people are not heraing to them.Seems made a mistake by associating with cisco product. This is the worst router I have ever used. The wireless also gets disconnected abruptly.Next time I'll avoid cisco.Cisco is all about stone age products and zero customer care.
This is a bit of a pain as the behaiviour is not consistent. whenever I connect to the Device webpage a number of things may happen
1. There is no connection - the page tries to load but never does. While this happens the router drops the ADSL connection and re-connects. I have to close the browser session and try again later. OR
2. The Browser session connects but at some point after the connection, say when I am trying to save changes or even just browsing through the config pages the session hangs, and again the router drops the ADSL connection and re-connects. I have to close the session and try again later.
I have noticed this happens when I use my OpenSuse 11.4 Linux Box using Firefox 5 or even using my Win 7 Box using IE9.
Lately I've been experiencing connection problems between my router and cable modem. Every night after 11:00 PM EST, my Internet connection sporadically goes out. I called my ISP who said there was nothing wrong on their end. Plugging directly into my modem allows me to access the Internet. When I wake up in the morning, the connection is back until 11 or later again. I ran WireShark but I'm not sure what to be looking for. There are a lot of random things from the LLMNR protocol like standard query A zmtvrjaql.
