for the last 5 days or so, my internet was acting weird, disconnecting every 20 mins or so, i had an old linksys router, no clue on the modem, but all of it's about 7 years old, i got a replacement, Motorola SBG6580, my connection is somewhat better, but my ISP says they can't ping my router/modem
View 1 RepliesWe have a Comcast business class cable modem with a static IP address. There are two devices hardwired to it; a server and a Linksys WRT610N, The server is hardwired to it with port forwarding set for ports 21, 80 and 5900. It works perfectly and can be reached as intended by the outside world but not by our own network. Our Linksys WRT610N is hardwired to the modem. All computers on the wireless network see each other and can access the internet perfectly. So all seems well enough. BUT, no computer on our network can reach our server. Using the domain name or VNC connections from inside our system results in time outs and no connection.
View 12 Replies View RelatedI have got a problem with my LAN connection. I can't connect to the internet anymore and I can't reach my router. I rebooted my router several times, but that didn't work. I thought my network adapter was broken, so I bought a new one and reinstalled the driver, but it did not work. My router does recognize my computer though. When I tried to boot in safe mode with network opportunities, I was able to connect with my router and internet. I can't use System Restore as I don't have any restore points.
View 10 Replies View RelatedI have two desktop computers upstairs.The main pc has the Linksys G Router and the other pc is wireless with a network adapter. All works fine here.Downstairs and on the other side of the house, I use my laptop which is wireless to the network. I also have a 46" hidef tv hooked up to a blu ray player and also connected to the network with a wireless adapter. I use Netflix to stream movies and seem to be having a problem with the signal in this room, both on the tv and my laptop. I sometimes only have 2 bars on my laptop and frequently get disconnected to the internet. When I am streaming movies or tv series, I get frequent stops and starts.
I am guessing that the signal is just not strong enough to reach this far from the router. Would switching to an N router be better for streaming? Would another G router downstairs solve my problem?
Just got a brand new router this morning. Hooked it up to the modem, called Bright House and had it set to bridge mode, set up our wireless range extender and everything was fineMy dad's mac laptop was able to connect as well as my win7 desktop. When my brother tries to connect using his win7 laptop, though, he can connect to the router but not to the internet. He keeps getting limited access. He was able to connect and use a neighbor's wireless (but obviously we don't want to be doing that) so we know it's at least working

I have checked that the 5 Ghz network can only use 4 channels: 36, 40, 44, 48. Where are the channels up to 100 (or more)? How to get all the power of the router?
I have DSL set up in a home network. I want it to be used in my barn. The signal won't reach wireless though. I have 2 older wireless routers not being used - Lynksys wrt54gx4. Can I add two of these in the path to the barn to extend the signal? I would put one in the back of the house and one halfway to the barn in the pool house. ZCan these routers connect wirelessly to the home network?

I have a cisco 2651xm router here at home, and at another remote location I have a cisco 1760 router, both are connected to the internet via adsl (WIC1-ADSL card).The problem is that from home I can't connect to the snmp-service on the 1760 router. I'm using a PC that's on the LAN of the 2651XM router, the blockage is in the 2651XM router, because if I swap it for a cheap plastic domestic router I can get snmp data from the 1760 router, and this is without any port forwarding in the domestic router. What config do I need on the 2651XM router so it will pass this traffic?
We are facing strange issue in our network. We have a remote branch which is connected to main branch using Leased Line. Remote branch is having Cisco 1700 Router. Every day in the morning time the remote router is unreachable. We are not able to reach (ping/telnet) the remote Router but able to reach L3 switch/ LAN behind this router. The users from remote branch is also not able to reach the local router but they are able to ping the Main branch.Users in the remote branch are not able to access any resources in the main branch during the issue.
During the issue, we have checked the remote branch router and found the CPU utilization of the Cisco 1700 router is very high (99%). If we run "Show process CPU" command (please find the attachment) specially IP input process is very high (97%).
I am trying to access [URL] with a Linksys E3000 router. A few days ago it was working fine, and between then and now I made no changes to my network, it just stopped working one day, I assumed the website was down but it turns out that I am able to access the website fine on other networks or via proxies. I also hooked up my computer directly to my modem and I was able to connect to the website fine, but when I try my wired connection to the router I am unable to connect, I have tried Google DNS without success. I know this is a problem with my router, not my modem or computer or ISP.

I am trying to setup a remote PC over a wireless access Point/Bridge to our FIOS router. Pic of setup is shown below. Everything is connected, there are no errors or security warnings shown in the ActionTec MI424 router. The RemotePC IP shows up as an Active Ethernet client in the Router config app. Moreover, I can run the connectivity test from the router app to the RemotePC and it passes that, and I can PING from the RemotePC to the Router. Yet I cannot reach the Internet from a Browser on the RemotePC (192.168.1.75). I am using (2) DLINK DAP-1522 Access Point/Bridge units and they have worked as expected. I set the Router log to list any blocked IP traffic as well, and it does not show anything being blocked from the RemotePC (192.168.1.75). So why can't I reach the Internet from the RemotePC? Seems like a gateway problem or I need to make some config changes in the Router.

Now we tried to reach the router in the Internet Explorer using: http://192.168.1.1, but we could not reach this site. When I try to ping the router via cmd and typing ping 192.168.1.1 I get answers.
For us it is very important to change the IP address of the router, as he will be used in a network with 10.xxx.xxx.xx addresses.
I have a laptop with an Intel Centrino 6300 Ultimate-N wireless card. With the previous firmware I was able to reach 300mbps while on the 5GHz band. Since I updated my E3000 to the latest firmware (1.0.04) I can only reach speeds of 144mbps. I have done a factory reset on the router and stll get the same result. Is there any way I can get it to reach 300mbps again with the current firmware?
Also, yes I have uninstalled / updated the driver software for my wireless card. I have also changed the appropriate settings for the 5GHz band. (40MHz channel width, using WPA2 encryption)
My Motorola SBG901 Modem/Router combo has stopped connecting to the internet. I have done all the troubleshooting with Comcast and with Motorola and it is out of warranty, so I will have to purchase a new one.In the mean time, I wanted to use it only as a wireless router connected to my Scientific Atlanta DPC2100R2 modem. Is there anyway to do this? Is there a way to disable the modem in the SBG901? Simply connecting with the ethernet cords has not worked. I connected the DPC2100 to the SBG901 via ethernet cord. My computer was able to pick up a wireless connection but there is no cable connection.
View 1 Replies View Relatedi just bought a Netgear WNDR4000 router due to troubles with my current modem/router combo (D-Link DSL2730-B). The router doesnt have in built modem functionality obviously so I need to set up the modem/router as a dedicated modem.Also should I use the current modem/router as the dedicated modem or an older model i own (I think its a DSL 502T)? Because the current one often drops the internet connection. Don't know if its a problem with the modem functionality or something else. Will the older one serve better since i didn't have any problems with that one or will it be outdated? I only upgraded due it not having wireless capabilities. Otherwise it's fine.Or will I be even better off buying a dedicated modem? I really don't want to spend more money but if this is a far better alternative I guess i will.
EDIT: Ok so found out that I have to put the modem/router in bridge mode in order for this to be possible. However, looking up how to do this lead me to a dead end because i need to fill in some fields that i have no idea how to interpret.

I have reset the configurations on both. Set FE and WLCM IPs on the router and gave WLC Management and AP manager addresses. All + PC are on the same subnet. Router pings all addresses besides AP-manager(intended). WLC CLI cannot ping PC and PC cannot ping (nor http) to WLC. PC can however ping and telnet the router on both the FE and WLCM IPs.
I followed the guides on WLCM configuration, did I miss something?
How can I access the management IP and the web GUI?

I've setup a SSL VPN to a ASA 5505 and can connect.
VPN network 192.168.2.0 /24
Inside Network 192.168.1.0 /24
Outside is connected to Router.
I am trying to RDP to a win server on the inside network but I cant get to it. Can not even ping 192.168.1.1 or (not sure if I could anyways) 192.168.2.1...
I added a ACL on the outside interface and then inside interface permit ip any any but still no ping or RDP...
New at VPN and have survived so far on cisco docs but this problem is evading me.

In the main office I'm working with a ASA5510 CLI 8.4 and a static public IP address. The branches are using different Cisco 8xx routers and dynamic public IP address. The following picture shows the current configuration:As I mentioned an IPSec Tunnel between the main office "Intern"-LAN 192.168.1.0/24 and an outside LAN 10.10.0.0/24 is successfully established. Now there is a new intern "Admin"-LAN 192.168.2.0/24 at the main office. The users from the outside LAN 10.10.0.0/24 need the possibility to reach this new intern "Admin"-LAN.Can I simply route the traffic from 10.10.0.0/24 to 192.168.2.0/24 via the existing IPSec-Tunnel? Or need I a new IPSec tunnel between the outside 10.10.0.0/24 LAN and the new "Admin"-LAN 192.168.2.0/24?

Note : I know that the physical interface musn't have an @IP but my present network needs one to work. I'll fix this during my next tests.

I have a (central) ASA5510 acting as a EasyVPN server and a number of (remote) ASA5505 as EasyVPN client. All the communication works fine between the different networks. The issu is the ASA itself. The remote ASA can ping the central ASA on it's internal IP-adress, but it can't ping any other resoruces at the central network. If I ping the DC at the central network from the remote ASA I get a deny in the central ASA with source address as the public IP-adress of the remote ASA and destination of the internal address of the DC. If I from the remote ASA do "ping inside ip-of-central-dc" it work's like a charm, but "ping ip-of-central-dc" dosen't work.

I am able to reach VPN clients (Anyconnect) only from hosts directly connected to the ASA's inside interface subnet. However, hosts on other internal subnets (177.1.10.0 & 177.1.11.0) are unable to connect to clients on VPN. The ASA is running ver 8.4. [code]
View 8 Replies View RelatedI have remote access vpn setup and I can get connected with no issues. I assigned the vpn a pool of addresses from the end of my inside interface subnet. When connected I can ping any device on that subnet, I can also connect to my switch on the same subnet via my browser. I can not however access any device located in my dmz while connected. This is a new setup I'm testing but I need vpn user to be able to use rdp to connect to machines in the dmz.
