Linksys Wireless Router :: Can't Seem To Get E4200 To Assign A Static IP
Aug 24, 2011
I have assigned a Static IP with other Linksys/Cisco wireless routers (WRT54G), but I can't seem to get the E4200 to assign a Static IP. My device is connected to Port 3, with that being the only port (besides my WAN) being occupied. When I enter the following and click Save Settings I get the following error: "Invalid Static Route!"I don't understand what I am doing wrong. This is the exact same as I have done on my WRT54G and it worked.

I"m having one problem though. On my old router it had a feature to assign a static IP to a mac address.
So that computer would always get 192.168.10.101 as the IP Address.
How do I do it on this router?

I recently wanted to try using the Google public DNS servers on my home network. I have a Cisco E4200 router. On the router's administration page, I set Static DNS 1 to 8.8.8.8 and Static DNS 2 to 8.8.4.4 and saved the settings.Even after rebooting the router, the Setup page shows the Google DNS addresses listed above, but the Status page shows 65.32.5.111 and 65.32.5.112 as being the DNS servers its using.

I am to play an online game called, "Super Street Fighter: Arcade Edition" and I am constantly getting disconnected. Currently my router is set to DHCP and I read and heard from other sources that a static IP is the way to go but I can't seem to get it setup when I follow youtube videos or read how-to guides.Which is the best choice for a solid connection? Port forward the ports need to play the game or setup a static ip or some sort of combination of both? How to setup a static IP with the linksys e4200? I also have a linksys repeater to boost the signal strength. Its the Linksys RE1000 repeater. Also, if you have any other suggestions that might be better such as leaving my router on DHCP and making changes somewhere else in the router configuration page (192.168.1.1).

I'm a big fan of Cisco products and recently have purchased an E4200. I always connect my iPod classic to the router and listen to the music on my ps3 and laptop. The only problem is that I can't make any playlists since the media server creates a different link to a song, every time I reconnect my iPod. It'd be great if you allow the server to create links like below. I'm sure all the users will e much happier with it! [URL] like this.
Something tells me I'll never see the day that I can activate this feature on my E4200. Anyways, I leave it to your engineers make it happen...

I just bought an e4200. I was using a LinkSys WRT54GS running DD-WRT alternative firmware.
One feature that I really liked in DD-WRT was the ability to assign static IP leases from the DHCP server. I liked having all of my devices running with a predictable, known IP address on my network. I have a Home Theater PC, and various controller applications that run on iPhones, etc. - some pretty homebrewed. Configuring the firewalls, etc. was much easier with IP address based controls.
Is there a way to achieve the same within the e4200's stock firmware?

Ok so I have a couple devices connected to it, but there's a trick with Android phones that users report better battery life assigning an Static IP to the phone, not dhcp or reservation. However I can't figure it out in this router as when I revoked the current address it wouldn't let me add a new one, and when I went to add one at .202 to be outside of dhcp range it doesn't let you and says to enter a number within the range, .100-.199

212.xxx.xxx.01 - my public pix ip
212.xxx.xxx.02 - is my owa for email (https://xxxxxxx.net/owa)
212.xxx.xxx.03 - my sharepoint box (https://xxxxxx.net/sharepoint)
212.xxx.xxx.04 - not assigned
What command do I have to input on the Cisco Pix 515 to make that work?

I have what I feel is sort of a strange issue. When I have systems on my home network get their IP from DHCP, they can get to the internet just fine. But it seems that when I assign a static address, they have local network access only, and will not get a connection to the internet. My windows 2008 server is the big problem with this one.

with my broadband internet I received a range of 5 IP addresses from BT. I would like to assign one of them to the modem, in order to reach the modem from the outside using that IP.,Is this theoretically possible at all?,Is the WAG320N supporting static IP addresses with PPPoA at all?,When I select PPPoA as the encapsulation on the Setup/Basic setup tab, I cannot enter an IP address on that tab. I tried using the Setup/Ethernet tab, but selecting ""Use as a WAN port", "Static IP", inserting the IP and clicking on "save" result in a cut of the internet connection.

I want to assign static IPs to users that login to IPSec VPN using Group Authentication in ASA 8.2. The authentication through a Windows RADIUS server. Right now, they are connecting just fine and pulling an IP from the pool I have configured in the IPSec policy.
What would the best way to assign static IPs through VPN?

We have a Highly available VPN infrastructure across two data centers. We also use ACS 4.2 servers for authentication. The ACS servers are in teh same "cluster" in a Primary and Secondary fashion. Site A has primary ACS and primary ASA 5550 IPSec VPN termination. Site B has secondary ACS and redundant ASA 5550 IPsec VPN termination. We also use InfoBlox for DHCP IP address assignments. The two IPSec VPN Head end devices, ASA 5550s, they use different subnets for IP pools for the VPN Clients. Site A uses x.x.24.0 and Site B uses x.y.24.0. As indicated VPN clients authenticate using teh ACS 4.2 Radiius server. I can assign static IPs per user on the ACS server but this can only work for the primary site. Once static IP address is assigned on primary ACS for a user, this status will be replicated to the secondary ACS on Site B. When the Primary IPSec VPN Head End ASA or Internet fails on Site A, Clients on DHCP will work fine seemlessly via Site B. But for the static IP users, you have to change the Assigned Static IPs to match the subnet on Site B. How I can assign static IPs to clients via both Sites without manual intervention. Either via DHCP or ASA. I was trying to stay away from creating multiple Groups for VPN and also avoidng creating local ASA users because these options will not scale well as static user base increases. I need users to get a static IP address from Site A subnet when connected to Site A and get a static from Site B subnet when connected through Site B.

On my EA4500 i've given my Sony Google TV Box (connected by wifi N) a static ip address under "DHCP Reservations". However is there any way to add a DNS server address to this reserved IP so that only the Google Box is affected by the DNS, all the other connected devices remain unaffected? Presently i enter the required DNS address in the google box but i would prefer to do it on the EA4500. I'm using the latest Cisco Cloud fw on my router.

I upgraded my SG500 switch firmware to 1.3.0.59, since there is a new functionality DHCP server v.4 well I must say I came accross the issue I cannot solve. DHCP server assign dynamic address - no hassles. troubles start with static IP hosts.I defined a couple of hosts with static address within the correct subnet. I tried with hardware address and client identifiers. no luck. my switch does not assign the IP address I assigned to the suitable mac address. to define it I use both CLI & Web.

My ISP recently started offering dual stack IPv6. After changing IPv6 from manual tunnel to automatic, none of my devices get an IPv6 address from the ISP. In the troubleshooting page, IPv6 address is also empty. I tried resetting the router but had no difference. We have another router (ASUS RT-53N) and it works fine. The ISP is using PPPoE for IPv4. In RT-53N I choose "IPv6 with DHCP-PD" and Interface "PPP". There're no such options in EA2700 though.

I previously entered in settings for the "Static DNS" 1 through 3 (using ip addresses from OpenDNS and one from Google DNS).
I want to remove these so the router reverts to using the DNS allocated to it by the ADSL modem (which will likely be the IP of the modem, which then forwards the requests to the DNS from the ISP).But I can't clear the Static DNS settings. I have to put in 0.0.0.0 but the last zero is not accessed. I get the error: The value is out of range [1 - 254].So I end up with 0.0.0.1 and then all Internet access is lost on the computers because they are being given a bad DNS IP.
How can I reset the static DNS ip address back to 0.0.0.0 ?

I recently switched cable companies and was given a Linksys E1200 wireless router to connect to the internet. The router works fine with all of my laptops but not with my desktop. The desktop has a WMP11 wireless PCI card. I have had trouble using this card in the past but have always managed to solve connectivity issues. This time, I am unable to connect to the internet. Although I can detect the network signal, the network will not assign my computer an IP address. Also, when I first switched routers, I got a message saying I did not have the proper certificate to connect to the network

I have my internet connection connect to my main Linksys router WRT160NL (192.168.1.1) with 192.168.1.x.My 2nd Linksys router connect to the first one as Gateway as well. The 2nd router has its WAN ip of 192.168.1.100 and it's local subnet as 192.168.2.x.My machines at 192.168.2.x can get to the internet and connect to all machines in the 192.168.1.x network. However, the 1.x network can't access the machines on the 2's network. And because of that, i can not sharing or printing between two network.I try to add static routes on my main router (192.168.1.1) with the route: 192.168.2.0 mask 255.255.255.0 and defaute gateway 192.168.1.100However, the route not work still.anyway to make sure that the 1.x network able to access the 2.x network and from 2.x access 1.x for sharing files and printing.

I use a WRT55AG v2 router. Its been the center of my home network for about 8 years. The network consists of 2 wired PC'S, NAS, MEDIA SERVER, Solar Monitoring Device, Network Printer and several laptops, all of which used WINXP-SP3. The network was fairly stable until we started replacing machines with a WIN7 OS.I prefer a wired network and everything except the laptops, all have static IP's assigned. Now for some reason we're getting error messages for "IP conflicts" originating from the laptops hooking up wireless and the router assigning a DHCP IP within the range of Static IP's that I've reserved for wired devices.I want to direct the router to establish DHCP wireless IP's (for visistors) in a specific range and also allow me to establish Static wireless IP's within a specified range for our laptops, kindles, etc.

I upgraded from a WRT54GS. I have an XBOX that I am trying to setup a static IP for. Every time I try I get an error message stating invalid static route. All I am trying to do is set it up the same way my old router was so when I specify my XBOX as DMZ Host I don't have to worry about my XBOX ip address changing like it currently does.
Route name: XB
Destination LAN IP: 192.168.1.133
Subnet Mask: 255.255.255.0
Gateway: 0.0.0.0

I am trying to have one of my devices always get the same internal IP address. I have an IP camera that I have setup with port forwarding. I think I found where to set it, but it isn't 100% clear that I have it set correctly. I have a E900 wireless router.
From my router's homepage I went to Setup - Basic Setup --> DHCP Reservation button. Then I found my camera in the top box (Select Clients from DHCP tables) and checked the box next to it and pressed the "Add Clients" button. Now I see my IP camera (along with the IP address I want it assigned to and it's MAC access in the section labeled "Clients Already Reserved".
So, did I go through to the procedure correctly to have my IP camera always get the same IP address?

I have a couple of Linksys WRT54GS V7 routers, they work fine, with the exception that when I login to the web interface, I select the drop down box for DHCP to change it to a static IP, the page refreshes, but comes right back to the same screen with DHCP selected again, I can change the time zone with no issues, I entered the Static DNS info. I've tried a couple of different PC's with a couple of different IE versions. I already updated to the newest firmware, firmware is 7.50.8, I've also factory reset it a couple of times, and I've just run into a brick wall. I've setup hundreds of these routers before so it's not like I don't know how.
