My Motorola SBG901 Modem/Router combo has stopped connecting to the internet. I have done all the troubleshooting with Comcast and with Motorola and it is out of warranty, so I will have to purchase a new one.In the mean time, I wanted to use it only as a wireless router connected to my Scientific Atlanta DPC2100R2 modem. Is there anyway to do this? Is there a way to disable the modem in the SBG901? Simply connecting with the ethernet cords has not worked. I connected the DPC2100 to the SBG901 via ethernet cord. My computer was able to pick up a wireless connection but there is no cable connection.
I have a cable modem installed to my property but want to use my modem/router to go wireless. The proble is my cable modem output is a RJ45 and the router input is RJ11.
When I attempt to connect my new laptop to it and enter the security key/password, it does not accept it.I was able to connect the computer I had before to the router. How can I connect my new computer?
I recently upgraded my DSL service, which required installing a new VDSL modem/wireless router (Actiontec c1000a.) Before the upgrade, I was using an older standalone DSL modem with a Netgear router to provide wireless access to my gaming consoles, laptop, etc. Everything works as before with my new wireless router EXCEPT my son's laptop. All my consoles, iPods, and desktop CAN connect to the wireless network, and the laptop will connect over a WIRED ethernet connection. I cannot get it to connect to the wifi.
Using cell phone as a modem via bluetooth.. is there anyway to hook this connection up to a wireless router so i can use it throughout the house? Works fine on this computer, but i just don't know how i would hook it up correctly to work with other computers? I attempted to, but the internet connection was still not working on the other computer... It's an actiontec wireless router
I'm currently connected to an ISP whose modem is equipped with a wireless router. The router works fine, however, its range is too short. I tried configuring my Cisco Linksys WRT120NL to the modem and the internet does not go to my computer.
I have an old Speedstream 5100 modem hooked to my e2500 router. Everything works well except if for some reason my modem disconnects from ISP I can not log into it through the route to reconnect it. I must plug a direct cable into modem from computer run connect script then plug modem back into router all is fine again.
why connecting to modem through router is blocked?
I can think of from different cables, factory settings, etc. Can't connect to modem straight from computer for some reason, but my old linksys wrt54g still works. I can connect to the router wirelessly and access settings fine. When i try to use cisco connect, the install stops at 25%
I just moved into a new place with a DSL modem and am using the connection from the old tenant until my internet gets set up a while from now. I can plug the ethernet straight from the modem into either my laptop or desktop, and it works perfectly fine. But when I plug into my LinkSys 2500 router, it can't connect. I've tried rebooting the router, the router and the modem, plugging the modem back in first, plugging the router back in first. Nothing. But all I have to do is pull the ethernet cable from the internet port and click it into my laptop, and voila! internet. My name isn't on the account so I can't call the ISP and see if there are any special connection instructions, but I suspect there aren't any based on just being able to plug a computer straight into it.
I currently have a N750 router running alongside a Motorola Surfboard DOCSIS modem from Charter Communications. To the extent of my knowledge, the router had lost its connection and self-restarted, if not a high ping spike, and I could no longer connect to 198.168.1.1 in my web browser, Google Chrome (also, I cannot connect to my modem through 198.168.1.100, it says that the webpage is not available). [code]
my computer will connect wired to internet and can find the wireless connection but wont connect. my wireless icon flashes intermitently and my mobile will work via wifi. do i need a new router this one is a G wireless Modem router Belkin had it for about 4 years?
I've been using D-Link DIR-600 wireless router for two months with my ISP, SmartBro. A week ago my internet went down due to heavy rain and technical support had a home visit yesterday to re-activate my internet connection. My net connection came back smoothly using a direct connection from modem to laptop. When I tried to connect the modem to my wifi router, the internet was not detected. Even if I reset the router settings, no internet connection was detected. Initially, I thought there is a problem with my wifi router so I connected the modem to our Edimax wired router but still it could not detect internet access. Every time I open a browser while connected to a router, this message is shown (see attached screenshot).
I tried using another ISP, Wi-Tribe with both wired and wifi routers and everything worked well. So now I assume the problem lies with my SmartBro ISP. I called the ISP hotline but they told me that they do not provide support for router connection problems; only with single, direct connect to a PC.I asked a neighbor IT technician to look into my problem but he too could not solve the problem.
I have a TP-Link TD-8616 modem and TP-Link TL-WR740N wireless router. Both are ADSL compatible. Each time I tried to connect with the wireless router I will no longer have internet service. Teksavvy is my internet provider. how I can get this to work.
I ran a cat5 from my house which has the dsl modem to my workshop; about 120ft.I can plug that cable into my pc and get internet. But if I plug the cable into the Linksys, and the a cable from the Linksys to the pc, no internet connection. How to configure the Linksys so that I can connect it to my PC? I also want to connect my Verizon wireless Network extender to the Linksys.T
I have a Netgear WNDR3700v2 that I was very happy with until I got a nest thermostat. Apparently it is an unsupported router and I had to change it. I bought a E2700 since it was supported, but I'm having a huge dilemma...
If I connect the linksys directly to the modem, I'm not getting an internet connection. I've released and renewed IPs to no avail..
but if I hardwire the linksys to the netgear, I do get a good solid internet connection. problem is, I have no need for 2 routers setup on top of each other.
basically, I dont understand why linksys is not able to connect directly to the modem. yet it gets solid connection hardwired through another router.
I'm using Comcast and in south FL. it's a motorola surfboard modem
Purchased today 26th March 2012, used CD first as warned, followed procedures, will not connect to WAG 160N modem router. WAG160N has MAC restrictions but MAC of WRT160N added, both in wireless and as a computer. Still won´t connect, gets to 85% in wireless connect mode then fails, gets to stage 4 of router recognition and fails, saying check cables. Cables changed to know working ones, still no success. Tried pinging 192.168.1.1 direct from computer with no success, no access to router log-in page at all. WAG 160N has no problems.
I have been trying from last 2 days to connect my Wireless USB Modem (from Telecom operator) to Buffalo's WHR-G300N V2 (Airstation Nfiniti High Power Gigabit Router, Access Point & Bridge) device and to connect to multiple devices using eithernet cable such PC and Vonage adaptor. I get internet connection from Telecom operators wireless USB Modem (which does not have ethernet port,, I use wireless to connect to my laptop), so I want to connect this telecom's USB modem to my Buffalo router which has multi ethernet ports. And use these ethernet ports to connect to my PC, Vonage and other wired devices. I am using Buffalo's WHR-G300N V2 (Airstation Nfiniti High Power Gigabit Router, Access Point & Bridge) to get internet from USB modem.
i brought a new wrt120n from the retailer and when i tried to connect the modem and configure, my phone gets dead and i couldnt connect it to the internet.
I have an EA3500, I have 30 Mbps download when I connect my pc directly to the modem. When I add in the EA3500 router it drops to only 10 Mbps download on both wired and wireless devices.
I recently changed my internet connection to DSL from Cable, so now I'm using PPPoE type of connection.
Right now my router is configured as Automatic DHCP with the modem doing the PPPoE connection. All is fine and well.
Since I own a PS3, and Nat Type 3 conection is really bad for my online gaming, I would like to bridge my modem and connect to the internet through my router. That way I can properly forward my ports, use QoS and effectively get a better connection on the PS3.
I was able to successfully bridge the modem, but the PPPoE config on the router isn't able to connect to the internet.
Modem and router have been reinitialized after the configurations were changed. I do have the username and passwords, and they were properly put on the router.
Upgraded my E3000 from 1.0.02 to 1.0.04 and now I cant get an ip from my arris modem. I did the 30/30/30 reset and everything but no luck. I've had to plug the modem directly into the computer for now. Where can I find the 1.0.02 download or how can I fix this?
I have rather huge connection at home. DL speed 80Mb, UL speed 3Mb.When I connect my PC directly to modem and configure PPPoE connection, I get 81Mbits/sec. When I connect my old ASMAX $30 router, I get 78 Mbit/sek. And I find it OK.But when I connect my EA6500 I get 28 MBits/sec. Same result on wire as on wireless connection. Of course If I enable prioritisation, I get even less, 12-15 Mbits/sec.I tried already even configuration with ASMAX as wired router and EA6500 connected to its LAN port. It gives me 50Mbits/sec.
I want to connect my tata photon device to my bsnl wifi modem via a usb portavailable on the bsnl modem. This is to provide a wifi network that i can use to surf the net on my phone.
For several years I was connected to the internet via a USB modem (with TalkTalk being my ISP), however, after purchasing a laptop with Wi-Fi for my partner's daughter, decided it was time to get a router so we could all use the internet.I purchased a Netgear N150 Wireless ADSL2+ Modem Router, model DGN1000, connected (via ethernet as the desktop has no wireless receiver) and installed it as per instructions supplied. However since that point I have been unable to connect to the internet on my desktop through the router. Wireless devices (several laptops, iPhones and games consoles) have no issues whatsoever in connecting and using the internet.
At first the desktop kept saying that I had "limited or no connectivity" which I eventually sorted out, there was some kind of issue with my IP address, but I can't remember what now. Now I when I try to load any website, Internet explorer tells me it couldn't load the page due to .... Google Chrome is more specific and tells me that the DNS lookup failed. I have tried updating the ethernet controller driver, using the 'flushdns' command, and after discovering many other people on TalkTalk tech forums having similar DNS issues, tried using DNS addresses that were suggested by both their support staff and members of the public (i.e. Google's DNS 8.8.8.8), and still nothing. If I reconnect my USB modem I can connect to the internet no problem, but I'd prefer to only have one modem on the go.I am running a HP Pavilion with Win XP (SP2), and all the laptops that have connected wirelessly (including the one I'm using now) are running Vista.
I ordered the D-link DIR-815 router online at [URL], and I'll be receiving it this Monday which is the 14th, so I am asking my questions on here now, so I could be prepared.
1.) I don't have a wireless card in my PC, so I will be connecting wired to get WiFi via WAN and LAN ports, right? First before I forget, I have a Windows 7 32-bit desktop PC. We are working with a DSL modem residential line without phone line using a coaxial cable, and Ethernet cable from modem into the PC. connecting this D-link router to my modem and WiFi, and for me to use the WPA2 security?
2.) I have an iPhone 4 with Verizon. If I want to use my iPhone to get WiFi from the router, and turn off the Internet on my phone, and use WiFi only on my phone, how would this work?
Last night Comcast reset our modem (from afar) so we could get a free movie to work. After that, we got the movie but my wireless internet now does not work. I can connect when attached to the cable modem but when I plug into the router I don't have access to internet. The router is plugged in and all lights are working (it acts normally otherwise). Also, our landline phone (which is in the bundle of the cable connection) does not work either.Comcast is willing to look at the phone but refuses to get involved in the wireless thing. What the heck is wrong?
I just bought a brand new computer and I plug everything in, including the ethernet cable used on my previous computer. This cable is plugged into a wireless router, which in turn is plugged into a modem giving it Internet. So yes I understand this part. But on my new computer it says "Not connected, and no connections available." I then plug the computer directly into the modem, I in turn receive Internet beautifully and quite quickly. But I cannot keep it like this because I need the wireless router for other devices. So I set everything up back the way it was and my other devices work! Even other plugged in one's that aren't wireless, but still not this new computer.. What do I do
