Using cell phone as a modem via bluetooth.. is there anyway to hook this connection up to a wireless router so i can use it throughout the house? Works fine on this computer, but i just don't know how i would hook it up correctly to work with other computers? View 2 RepliesTrying to connect one computer to the internet using a USB Verizon Pantech modem and at the same time connect to printer wirelessly through a Linksys router. We are able to connect to one or the other and can print when connected to the home network or we can surf when connected to the Pantech. We can connect to both networks at the same time, but when we do we can neither print or surf.. It cannot find the printer and does not access the internet at all. Is it possible to do this without buying additional hardware

I have done all the troubleshooting with Comcast and with Motorola and it is out of warranty, so I will have to purchase a new one.In the mean time, I wanted to use it only as a wireless router connected to my Scientific Atlanta DPC2100R2 modem. Is there anyway to do this? Is there a way to disable the modem in the SBG901? Simply connecting with the ethernet cords has not worked. I connected the DPC2100 to the SBG901 via ethernet cord. My computer was able to pick up a wireless connection but there is no cable connection.

I have used this laptop at work and at hotels for a 54 MbPS connection. I set up the Linksys at home. It sees the network and will tell me that it is connection at 54 MbPS. Then it quickly goes down to 11 then 5.5 then 2. Eventually it runs so slow that I time out of the security portal at work because its so slow. Occasionally it even loses the network and has to find it again. I'm only about 20 feet away from where the router is located. I have hung up all cordless phones and turned off my cell phone.

View 7 Replies View RelatedI just moved into a new place with a DSL modem and am using the connection from the old tenant until my internet gets set up a while from now. I can plug the ethernet straight from the modem into either my laptop or desktop, and it works perfectly fine. But when I plug into my LinkSys 2500 router, it can't connect. I've tried rebooting the router, the router and the modem, plugging the modem back in first, plugging the router back in first. Nothing. But all I have to do is pull the ethernet cable from the internet port and click it into my laptop, and voila! internet. My name isn't on the account so I can't call the ISP and see if there are any special connection instructions, but I suspect there aren't any based on just being able to plug a computer straight into it.

View 9 Replies View RelatedI've got a Studio 15 Dell with the 365 bluetooth module running win7 64-bit and I'm using it with my iPhone for internet tethering / mobile broadband.
The iPhone 3GS is paired with the laptop just fine and no errors and can connect and use the internet tethering. The problem I have is that it takes about 5 minutes before I get the option to Connect to the Access Point.
It doesn't matter if I turn bluetooth on/off on the iPhone, reboot the iphone or turn the bluetooth adapter on / off on the laptop. I try refreshing, I try forcing the pairing from the iPhone interface and so on.
I have the dell configured to allow the iPhone to always connect without prior authentication or extra approval.
Nothing seems to make a difference other than to sit around and wait 3-5 minutes and then all of sudden I get the option to Connect to the Access Point.

A week ago my internet went down due to heavy rain and technical support had a home visit yesterday to re-activate my internet connection. My net connection came back smoothly using a direct connection from modem to laptop.When I tried to connect the modem to my wifi router, the internet was not detected. Even if I reset the router settings, no internet connection was detected. Initially, I thought there is a problem with my wifi router so I connected the modem to our Edimax wired router but still it could not detect internet access. Every time I open a browser while connected to a router, this message is shown (see attached screenshot).
I tried using another ISP, Wi-Tribe with both wired and wifi routers and everything worked well. So now I assume the problem lies with my SmartBro ISP. I called the ISP hotline but they told me that they do not provide support for router connection problems; only with single, direct connect to a PC.I asked a neighbor IT technician to look into my problem but he too could not solve the problem.

but if I hardwire the linksys to the netgear, I do get a good solid internet connection. problem is, I have no need for 2 routers setup on top of each other.

Purchased today 26th March 2012, used CD first as warned, followed procedures, will not connect to WAG 160N modem router. WAG160N has MAC restrictions but MAC of WRT160N added, both in wireless and as a computer. Still won´t connect, gets to 85% in wireless connect mode then fails, gets to stage 4 of router recognition and fails, saying check cables. Cables changed to know working ones, still no success. Tried pinging 192.168.1.1 direct from computer with no success, no access to router log-in page at all. WAG 160N has no problems.
