I have done all the troubleshooting with Comcast and with Motorola and it is out of warranty, so I will have to purchase a new one.In the mean time, I wanted to use it only as a wireless router connected to my Scientific Atlanta DPC2100R2 modem. Is there anyway to do this? Is there a way to disable the modem in the SBG901? Simply connecting with the ethernet cords has not worked. I connected the DPC2100 to the SBG901 via ethernet cord. My computer was able to pick up a wireless connection but there is no cable connection.

Mar 20, 2013I am trying to setup a cisco 2600 router that will be used to connect to a Qwest internet T1. I will have a Cisco ASA firewall behind the router so that I can build a site to site VPN tunnel. Qwest requires PPP encapsulation. The Lan side network is 10.2.0.0/16. Qwest gave me their serial IP address and my serial ip address which was I used to configure the route. The ethernet interface was configured for the local Lan side subnet and i natted both the inside and outside interface of the router. I am not sure if this is correct. How do I configure the router so that I can use one of the available public IP Addresses as the outside interface of the ASA?

I also have a home server running for remote access to some files and media streaming. I just installed security cameras that I wish to monitor remotely via the internet.I can access my home files over the internet with no issue. However I am unable to access my cameras using the internet. Looking at my router incoming log, I see my request arriving, but I never get to the DVR attached to the camereas for remote viewing.I enabled bridging on the Cisco 678 but this did not solve the issue.

I can plug the ethernet straight from the modem into either my laptop or desktop, and it works perfectly fine. But when I plug into my LinkSys 2500 router, it can't connect. I've tried rebooting the router, the router and the modem, plugging the modem back in first, plugging the router back in first. Nothing. But all I have to do is pull the ethernet cable from the internet port and click it into my laptop, and voila! internet. My name isn't on the account so I can't call the ISP and see if there are any special connection instructions, but I suspect there aren't any based on just being able to plug a computer straight into it.

A week ago my internet went down due to heavy rain and technical support had a home visit yesterday to re-activate my internet connection. My net connection came back smoothly using a direct connection from modem to laptop.When I tried to connect the modem to my wifi router, the internet was not detected. Even if I reset the router settings, no internet connection was detected. Initially, I thought there is a problem with my wifi router so I connected the modem to our Edimax wired router but still it could not detect internet access. WAG160N has MAC restrictions but MAC of WRT160N added, both in wireless and as a computer. Still won´t connect, gets to 85% in wireless connect mode then fails, gets to stage 4 of router recognition and fails, saying check cables. Cables changed to know working ones, still no success. Tried pinging 192.168.1.1 direct from computer with no success, no access to router log-in page at all. WAG 160N has no problems.

Right now my router is configured as Automatic DHCP with the modem doing the PPPoE connection. All is fine and well.
Since I own a PS3, and Nat Type 3 conection is really bad for my online gaming, I would like to bridge my modem and connect to the internet through my router. That way I can properly forward my ports, use QoS and effectively get a better connection on the PS3.
I was able to successfully bridge the modem, but the PPPoE config on the router isn't able to connect to the internet.
Modem and router have been reinitialized after the configurations were changed. I do have the username and passwords, and they were properly put on the router.

Aug 28, 2011Upgraded my E3000 from 1.0.02 to 1.0.04 and now I cant get an ip from my arris modem. I did the 30/30/30 reset and everything but no luck. I've had to plug the modem directly into the computer for now. Where can I find the 1.0.02 download or how can I fix this?
