May 23, 2012Yesterday when I got home from college my computer randomly could not connect properly to my wireless modem. It tells me the SSID etc but when I connect to it, it becomes an unidentified network and has no internet connectivity. This problem only occurs on my laptop via wifi, wifi still works fine on other computers and my phone so I assume it is a problem on my laptops end. Also my laptop can connect to other wireless networks, ie my schools public network, and they work fine. I'm running windows 7 home premium.

Aug 27, 2012I have two computers (192.168.1.101 and 192.168.1.102) connected to a TP-Link TD-W8960N (192.168.1.1).I have the following softwares:[URL]However "Freegate" is a proxy software, but it still has some restrictions on particular websites, so I planned to bypass this limitation like this:
1. I ran the Freegate on 192.168.1.102 and then opened CCProxy and then I used Proxifer to set all data transmissions of CCproxy through Freegate by setting a rule in Proxifer. I put IP: 127.0.0.1 Port: 8580 Protocol: HTTP in Proxifier.
2. I ran Proxifier on 192.168.1.101 and set the IP: 192.168.1.102 Port: 808 Protocol: HTTPS as the proxy setting in it.I checked the internet and the configuration was successful. It seemed like I had directly run Freegate on this computer and since I tested those particular websites and they were blocked by Freegate servers, so everything was correct.
3. Now I managed to set a chain proxy configuration in Proxifier in 101 so I could bypass the Freegate limitation. I went to Free Proxy List - Public Proxy Servers (IP PORT) - Hide My ***! and picked some free SOCKS5 and HTTPS proxies. I tested them individually to see if they were working properly and they were. Then I set the chain proxy like this:
192.168.1.102:808 (HTTPS)
IP:Port (HTTPS/SOCKS5)
It didn't work... I received "connection closed unexpectedly" in Proxifier on 101 and "IP (the IP I picked up from hidemyass) : Client requested HTTPS connection. use separate HTTP connection for this." on 102.
1. I also tried Port Forwarding on my router and it didn't work either.
2. I couldn't connect CCProxy to Freegate via other protocols in Proxifier rather than HTTP. When testing I got the error that Freegate doesn't support SSH protocol. This most likely means that there is no built-in interface in Freegate to allow other softwares to connect to it via other protocols rather than HTTP.
3. I used port scanner to see if any other ports were open on 127.0.0.1 so I could use another protocol, and nope there wasn't any rather than 8580 : HTTP.

Feb 28, 2013i just bought a Netgear WNDR4000 router due to troubles with my current modem/router combo (D-Link DSL2730-B). The router doesnt have in built modem functionality obviously so I need to set up the modem/router as a dedicated modem.Also should I use the current modem/router as the dedicated modem or an older model i own (I think its a DSL 502T)? Because the current one often drops the internet connection. Don't know if its a problem with the modem functionality or something else. Will the older one serve better since i didn't have any problems with that one or will it be outdated? I only upgraded due it not having wireless capabilities. Otherwise it's fine.Or will I be even better off buying a dedicated modem? I really don't want to spend more money but if this is a far better alternative I guess i will.
EDIT: Ok so found out that I have to put the modem/router in bridge mode in order for this to be possible. However, looking up how to do this lead me to a dead end because i need to fill in some fields that i have no idea how to interpret.

The 7550 was easily hooked up with two cords: the Ethernet cord into the computer and the Internet/data cable hooked into the DSL filter. I thought the EA6500 would have an easy installation, but it has not gone so smoothly. I hypothesize it's one of two problems - either the Internet/data cable is incompatible with the EA6500 (the cable works; I've re-tested it on the 7550), or it is because all instructions mention plugging the Internet/data cable into a modem's port while I do not have a modem. My Internet comes from a DSL filter attached to a telephone jack in the wall.

Jul 5, 2012my computer randomly disconnects from my modem and will not reconnect until I restart my computer (do not need to restart modem). When I check the modem, it always is still running. The lights on the modem do the exact same thing whether the internet is working or not. The disconnection is entirely random. Sometimes it will disconnect immediately, sometimes it will take up to a few hours. I do not have a router hooked up to the modem, and the only other thing the modem is hooked up to is our tv. But even when the tv box is off, we still randomly disconnect.

Mar 31, 2012I access the internet from my company�s LAN, which has a restrictive firewall, so I cannot request the admin to open any ports manually for me. Hence I use a software called your-freedom. This proxy software supports both http as well as socks 4 and 5 proxy (by entering the proxy IP 127.0.0.1 (localhost) and Port 8080 for http proxy OR 1080 for Socks Proxy), and I have successfully been using web browsers and some other softwares that support proxy/ allow proxy info to be entered to login/ connect to the internet. Your-Freedom also supports port forwarding.However, the softwares I intend to use do not have any options to enter proxy methods or proxy ports (as far as I have noticed). I have tried to proxify these 2 softwares using softwares such as SocksCap and Free Cap, but either they don�t work, or my settings in proxifying are not correct. I believe I will have to do port forwarding or proxify the softwares, but have been unable to do so in the correct manner.
Following is the info on the 2 softwares:
1.NOW Trading terminal:[FONT=Times New Roman]Normally when I start the NOW or Zerodha software, the software starts and I get a login screen, but under firewall conditions, I get the initial Splash screen but then the software stops with the error: [b][u]NOW Initialisation failed for Interactive Engine << os error>>.
2.PowerIndia Bulls:The software is written in Java and starts with a batch file (PowerIndiabulls.bat) located in C:UsersDEFAULT_USERNAMEAppD..... I converted this batch file to .exe (with battoexe software) and then ran it through a proxifying software. The .exe start properly without proxifying software but not under proxifying environment. Basically the software needs to connect to the internet using Port 443. I am also expected to keep ports 443, 41599 and 59598 open. software's requirement is available at Indiabulls Securities: Indiabulls Securities is a leading capital market company offering securities broking and advisory services, depository services, equity research services to its clients in India. (item no. 5).To confirm, while the software is unable to connect through port 443, you will get an error message: "Connection to Login Server could not be established" when you try to login with any random Username and Password.To know that the software is able to connect properly, you will get an error: "This User ID is not enabled to be used with this product".
