View 1 RepliesI have Verizon FIOS internet/wireless router and then a WRT310N wireless router connected to it thru Ethernet cable. I want to disable DHCP in the Linksys, but when I try to access the set up page at address 192.168.1.1 the Verizon router set up page shows up. I've tried to connect the router directly to the computer, but it needs the internet connection from the Verizon router. How do I get to the set up of the Linksys at the same time the Verizon is using the same address?

Am i able to block their access somehow through the router without loosing the entire internet?

Internet connections work well on both and I can see all devices that reside on the same LAN that Im connected to. How I can get devices on the main router to be able to see the NAS. Is there any way for devices that are connected to my main router to be able to see the NAS given that the NAS is hooked into the second router?
View 3 Replies View RelatedI have recently changed my ISP and as such now have a modem router from them, however I used to have a seperate modem connected to my own router that I have already set up to have port forwarding to my CCTV, DVR and networked storage (Built into exsistine router).Since connecting the new modem router to my exsisting router I have been unable to access the CCTV, DVR and Storage from outside my LAN.
I guess this is because the devices are on the client list of my old router and not on my modem router. Is there anyway I can access the old port forwards through the new modem router, it used to be a matter of just xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx:9966 for example but now this would try to access the modem router and not the router it's connected to.
I have not found any options to disable the router side of it to make it act as just a modem. The hardware is a Virgin Media Super Hub model connected to a D-Link Dir-685.For arguments sake the IP address of my D-Link is 192.168.0.1 and the Super hub is 192.168.100.
Is there any way to access the router's configuration pages (192.168.0.1) via the Guest wireless network when routing between the zones is disabled?
Here's the story:
I am using my landlords wireless internet, but I administer the router myself. The router is 'upstairs' and i am 'downstairs' and he has his computer plugged into it plus one wireless laptop. He knows nothing about computers and is vulnerable to downloading viruses (and other ****) and I don't want my computers to be on the same 'network' as his.
I had a brilliant idea that since I am 100% wireless, I can make a guest network, put all my computers on that network and disable routing between them. Now all of my computers (some connected through a wireless bridge) can not see his computers at all (perfect!). The only problem now is I can no longer access the router config pages at 192.168.0.1!
Is there any way I can segregate my computers from his and also access the router config? I've tried accessing the WAN IP for the remote admin pages from inside the NAT, but it still blocks it.
I have an 1811w router and can not figure out how to access the settings of the router. I do not have a console port that I can use to access the settings that way so I want to know how to do it using the SDM. I thought I was following the directions but for some reason when I connect my computer to one of the routers LAN ports no connection is recognized on either the router or the computer. How do I go about connecting to the router and accessing the settings?

We have a D-Link DIR655 wireless router on our network. I have purchased two Seagate 1TB network storage units and would like to have one for me and one for my wife. It seems that the router will not support two, because they try to access the same port. How can I plug these two storage units to the router and have access for each of us to one device?
View 2 Replies View Relatedhow to block a user from using the internet when they plug their computer into a router. My roommate has refused to pay her share of the internet and, being a college student, I don't have enough money where I feel generous enough to let her have free internet after stiffing me. Basically, I have 2 routers at the moment (hoping to fix this soon): my Qwest modem works as a router but I also have a Linksys router connected to it. The only phone jack is in her room so I have no way of stopping her from plugging her computer straight into the modem and/or router. I've configured the wireless so that she would be unable to access the, wirelessly but I'd like to know how to prevent her accessing the internet when she plugs her computer directly into either component.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a Linksys WRT54G to which 2 computers are connected of which one has no problems at all.The other computer just had its hard drive replaced and Windows XP Pro SP1 installed on the new hard drive. With the new operating system, I cannot get the computer to access the router. The connection status reports that the network device is working but IPCONFIG /ALL reports nothing (blank). The NIC is onboard the motherboard (ASUS P5LP-LE). I have swapped out cable ports at the router and tried a different cable to the faulty computer to no avail. If I had a spare NIC I would already have tried that too. FYI, it was working without problems prior to the hard drive crash that prompted the new drive and OS install.I tried a wireless USB network interface (Zonet ZEW2508) and the computer also reports it working. However, the network icon continually cycles between connected and unavailable, about 6 seconds connected and 1 second unavailable. IPCONFIG also reports blank on this.

The laptop can access the mapped drive on the desktop when it is hardwired to the LinkSys (i.e., not wireless) but I cannot find a reference in the Pdf manual or online on how to access the drive on the desktop from the laptop when the laptop is connected via the WiFi.The desktop is running XpSp3 and the laptop is Vista.A second and more important question is should I do this. Can the accessing of the drive via the WiFi be done with adequate security. I would rather err on the side of caution.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI just moved from a Linksys wired router to the Cisco EA2700 wired/wireless router.I have three web servers on my network that serve up content via standard web URLs. For example, pretend www.domain.com pointed to the WAN side of my EA2700. Port forwarding routes port 80 traffic to the server, located on an internal, private IP (ie, 192.168.1.21).All works well when accessing these servers from outside my network (I checked this via my mobile broadband connection). But when I'm on a workstation internal to the same network as the servers, I cannot connect to the servers via the web URL. Of course, I can hit them via the IP or an internal-only DNS network entry. For example, when on 192.168.1.55 on a desktop machine, and I type the URL in the form www.domain.com, it just hangs and times out. I was able to do this on the old Linky router. Traffic should go stop at the router and be re-routed back internally to the port-forwarded server - but it does not.
I have to route properly via the web URL and not the internal DNS name or IP addy, as I am running virtual web servers on IIS on one of the servers. Is there a setting I failed to set on the EA2700?
