Cisco WAN :: Accessing Settings Of 1811w Router?
Dec 4, 2011
I have an 1811w router and can not figure out how to access the settings of the router. I do not have a console port that I can use to access the settings that way so I want to know how to do it using the SDM. I thought I was following the directions but for some reason when I connect my computer to one of the routers LAN ports no connection is recognized on either the router or the computer. How do I go about connecting to the router and accessing the settings?

Using Cisco 1811W with IOS 15.1(4)M5. FE0 and FE1 are connected to the internet via Billion ADSL2+ modems operating in bridged mode. Both lines are similar so I'll only discuss FE0 from this point on.Local subnet is 192.168.128.0/24 with router on 192.168.128.1 as default gateway. Modem on FE0 has static LAN IP of 192.168.128.2 and when plugged into the switch on the LAN side, the web interface can be accessed at that IP address. Unplug the modem from the switch and plug it into FE0 and it now works as desired providing access from the router to the internet but the web interface is no longer accessable at 192.168.128.2
I tried adding a static route "ip route 192.168.128.2 255.255.255.255 FastEthernet 0" and also "ip route 192.168.128.2 255.255.255.255 Dialer 1" Neither worked and presumably it isn't that straight forward. Possibly NAT or other routing configuration required.Although there isn't much to configure when in bridged mode, I mostly want this setup so I can look at the ADSL connection status and for the modem to write messages to syslog (works when plugged into switch on LAN side), or SNMP access.

I am very new to port forwarding and firewall issues. I have been told that the software issue that I have probably is a router/modem issue as every other possibility has been ruled out. I have a Westell 7500 modem. How do I access, set or change settings on it? And, which is the better modem, a Westell 7500 or a Westell 327W??

We have a couple of smaller remote locations running cisco 1811W routers (built in switch ports & wireless). Now I have been tasked with determining if the wireless portion can be converted to Lightweight or not; if so what is required.
I am running

Need basic wireless configuration for a SOHO Cisco 1811W router? I just need the wireless to connect to the base wired LAN - with both WEP and MAC authentication. And - can the MAC auth. parameters be configured via CLI and not have to use either SDM or CP? I can access the router via SDM - but the Wirless Application will not fire up - and CP doesn't work at all.

Cisco 1811 device. Working great with connection from TWTELCOM, trying to add 2nd connection from BRTHOUSE set SLA's and metrics but config still isn't working. The connection won't come up and when I do show ip route ip address it doesn't show a metric so neither connection has a priority and the connection fails. I want brighthouse to have priority as shown with SLA's but if brighthouse fails I want it to go back to twtelcom. [code]

I am attempting to configure DDNS on an 1811W, but my configuration fails. Apparently,it is not connecting to the TZO server, because when I run <show ip ddns update> in telnet, the message "update destination not available, although rh.tzo.com can be pinged. I am attaching a copy of the config file. the ip name-server entries are my IP DNS, and the url/user name/ key entry was provided by TZO support.

I have some problem to get working ACLs. The main purpose of this ACLs is to control what is going out from vlan to internet. (For example, i want that only my proxy can access to the web.) So, i use Cisco Packet Tracer and test new rules in lab without any problem.
interface Vlan1
ip address x.x.x.x x.x.x.x
ip flow ingress
ip flow egress
ip nat inside
[Code]...
But it doesn't work on my Cisco 1811w and i dont uderstand why and i'm not sure to have sufficient knowledge to aolve my problem by my own.

I am using a 1811W and CCP for configuration. I am trying to assign client names to devices on the LAN so that when a network scanner is used, the client name is displayed. I have attached part of the running config after a binding has been done. My assumption is that the scanner should now show 192.168.1.109 as name <Supermicro>, but the name is blank. Is this configured correctly for what I am trying to acheive?

I have a Cisco 1811W that after several years in service suddenly stopped allowing any wireless connection to laptops on the domain. It allows hard wired connections and devices that are just using the wireless hot spot like iPads and Iphones but not devices on the domain. These same laptops connect wirelessly without issue at our other facilities which use the same hardware.
Here is the config file of the router in question...

Internet connections work well on both and I can see all devices that reside on the same LAN that Im connected to. How I can get devices on the main router to be able to see the NAS. Is there any way for devices that are connected to my main router to be able to see the NAS given that the NAS is hooked into the second router?

I have recently changed my ISP and as such now have a modem router from them, however I used to have a seperate modem connected to my own router that I have already set up to have port forwarding to my CCTV, DVR and networked storage (Built into exsistine router).Since connecting the new modem router to my exsisting router I have been unable to access the CCTV, DVR and Storage from outside my LAN.
I guess this is because the devices are on the client list of my old router and not on my modem router. Is there anyway I can access the old port forwards through the new modem router, it used to be a matter of just xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx:9966 for example but now this would try to access the modem router and not the router it's connected to.
I have not found any options to disable the router side of it to make it act as just a modem. The hardware is a Virgin Media Super Hub model connected to a D-Link Dir-685.For arguments sake the IP address of my D-Link is 192.168.0.1 and the Super hub is 192.168.100.

Is there any way to access the router's configuration pages (192.168.0.1) via the Guest wireless network when routing between the zones is disabled?
Here's the story:
I am using my landlords wireless internet, but I administer the router myself. The router is 'upstairs' and i am 'downstairs' and he has his computer plugged into it plus one wireless laptop. He knows nothing about computers and is vulnerable to downloading viruses (and other ****) and I don't want my computers to be on the same 'network' as his.
I had a brilliant idea that since I am 100% wireless, I can make a guest network, put all my computers on that network and disable routing between them. Now all of my computers (some connected through a wireless bridge) can not see his computers at all (perfect!). The only problem now is I can no longer access the router config pages at 192.168.0.1!
Is there any way I can segregate my computers from his and also access the router config? I've tried accessing the WAN IP for the remote admin pages from inside the NAT, but it still blocks it.

It seems that the router will not support two, because they try to access the same port. How can I plug these two storage units to the router and have access for each of us to one device?

how to block a user from using the internet when they plug their computer into a router. My roommate has refused to pay her share of the internet and, being a college student, I don't have enough money where I feel generous enough to let her have free internet after stiffing me. Basically, I have 2 routers at the moment (hoping to fix this soon): my Qwest modem works as a router but I also have a Linksys router connected to it. The only phone jack is in her room so I have no way of stopping her from plugging her computer straight into the modem and/or router. I've configured the wireless so that she would be unable to access the, wirelessly but I'd like to know how to prevent her accessing the internet when she plugs her computer directly into either component.

I have a Linksys WRT54G to which 2 computers are connected of which one has no problems at all.The other computer just had its hard drive replaced and Windows XP Pro SP1 installed on the new hard drive. With the new operating system, I cannot get the computer to access the router. The connection status reports that the network device is working but IPCONFIG /ALL reports nothing (blank). The NIC is onboard the motherboard (ASUS P5LP-LE). I have swapped out cable ports at the router and tried a different cable to the faulty computer to no avail. If I had a spare NIC I would already have tried that too. FYI, it was working without problems prior to the hard drive crash that prompted the new drive and OS install.I tried a wireless USB network interface (Zonet ZEW2508) and the computer also reports it working. However, the network icon continually cycles between connected and unavailable, about 6 seconds connected and 1 second unavailable. IPCONFIG also reports blank on this.

I cannot seem to see my server behind a cisco router. I have a feeling it is because our network phone system may be robbing the IP address? We have two fixed IP addresses. The first one, is assigned to the router. We have two swtiches set up behind router and all the other network stuff interanally wrks great. We also have full internet access. When I type the IP in on the web, it accesses the talkswitch phone system.I have set the internal IP to the server as fixed.I have port 21 open for FTP.When I run a test, the internet sees port 21 open. However, I cannot seem to cal lup the server over the internet. Could the talkswitch system somehow be interfereing with the logon? What would the proper syntax be to access the server?
