Jan 27, 2012My son is trying to set up his (just received) ATT U-verse network but has only a Acer Android Tablet to connect to it. The instructions say to plug it (the modem) in to the computer but of course there isn't one on the tablet.

1. Assign/Reserve IP address for 2 machines.
2. Route a web browser to a server on the first machine (port 80) as a default when another computer or smart-phone or device joins my open wireless network.
I am hoping to eliminate any changes to the IP address of the first two computers so that the server's IP address and port are static. I would also like anyone who joins the network to merely open their browser and be presented with the http interface from my server.

Cisco :: LMS 4.2 Can't Setup / Create Pollers In Performance Settings
Mar 4, 2012I'm currently testing LMS 4.2 and I setup a new install. I was able to discover devices, check and backup configs and check for compliance. One thing I can't do is setup pollers to monitor performance. If I click on setup (or any of the 3 options associated with it) under monitor-->performance settings I get an HTTP error 500 from Apache Tomcat. If I click on the monitoring dashboard I don't see any alerts or graphs... Did I skip something during the install?

Jan 23, 2013When I change a setup setting and click save settings, most of the time it gets stuck on the "saving..." notification window and eventually I get a "Internet Explorer cannot display the web page" notification. However I have found that if I repeatedly try it eventually it will accept the change. This never happens using the wizards only making manual changes. I am running the camera with a Wi-Fi connection. I am not sure this is a router or camera firmware bug (running V1.12)

Jan 10, 2013i've been using a VPN to connect to my home network from elsewhere for a few months. It's set up as follows:
PPTP
Maximum Strength Encryption
EAP-MSCHAP-v2 Authentication
Now I find out that MSCHAPv2 authentication has been broken and is no longer considered secure (even by Microsoft), so I want to change the protocol I'm using to make it secure.
However, I've spent 3 hours now researching this and I cannot for the life of me figure out how to use a better protocol on my Windows Server 2012 home server. I've tried setting up PEAP authentication (still PPTP) a la Microsoft's recommendation document, but it requires a certificate. I've created a self-signed certificate but it seems I can't issue certificates (via this method) without being a member of a domain, so I'm stuck. I can't even get started with L2TP since I can't find the option for it.
My question is this: Is there a way to setup a secure VPN server using Windows Server 2012 without a domain? If so, how do I do this?

Oct 24, 2012I recently reset my Quidway WA1003A modem from Huawei and ever since, the radio button for the server settings under DHCP configuration is at OFF whenever I start up my computer. So if I try accessing the internet via wi-fi on my phone, I'll have to manually change the radio button by opening up 192.168.1.1 through the browser on my computer each time. I never faced this issue prior to the reset. It used to somehow always be saved as ON.

There are two devices hardwired to it; a server and a Linksys WRT610N, The server is hardwired to it with port forwarding set for ports 21, 80 and 5900. It works perfectly and can be reached as intended by the outside world but not by our own network. Our Linksys WRT610N is hardwired to the modem. All computers on the wireless network see each other and can access the internet perfectly. So all seems well enough. BUT, no computer on our network can reach our server. Using the domain name or VNC connections from inside our system results in time outs and no connection.

Linksys Wireless Router :: E3000 Lost All FTP And Media Server Settings
Jan 27, 2012I have the E3000 and have attched a WD 1TB USB drive. I set it up for FTP and Media sharing and it worked fine but somehow recently I could not connect anymore. I checked the router and all of my setting for the FTP and Media server were gone. The disk drive still shows avaiable but now it shows the entire 1TB free (it was at least half used). This is the second time this has happened, first I tjhought it was a bad disk and replaced it but now it happened again. I did do a power cycle some time ago but I remember it still work after that. Not sure why I am losing my settings. This does not give me a comfort level as to storing anything valuable on that drive.

Problem: When trying to access the IPcam through the internet (DynDns) Belkin takes me right to the Belkin router Setup screen, not to the virtual server settings (IPcam). I was able to do it a couple of months ago,but not now. I may have upgraded my firmware in that time from 1.00.12.
Wireless :: Network Settings Do Not Match With Wireless Router Setup
Dec 24, 2011even though I have successfully added the network manually, using the same settings as my other laptop which has no trouble connecting. So now, the network appears in my "Connect to a wireless network" box, but whenever I try to connect, it says "Windows cannot connect to *name of network*" So when I troubleshoot the problems, it states "Check your wireless settings. Make sure your computer is in range of *Network* and that the network settings match the wireless router or access point settings." I KNOW it's in range because my other computer is connected properly right next to this one. So it must be a problem with my network settings. Though I don't see how that can be because my settings on both computers are exactly the same, but one's connected and one's not. Could the problem simply be that I haven't logged on to my router online to add this computer to the network?

So, to see if the ISP server was up, I could just ping the IP of the ISP server from my computer using the command prompt, and it would show whether it was up.However, since I got a router, I find that I cannot ping the ISP server from the computer directly as before. It shows only a few pings, and is not like the continuous ping that can be seen when you run ping from the command prompt. So, it's difficult to see the pings, and also diagnose.
