I have set up a server running Windows Server 2008 which two remote users can dial into using a VPN connection. It works fine unless they are both in the same location, in which case only one of them can connect. If one is connected and the other one tries to log in, it normally kicks out the first connection.I think this is because the PPTP protocol cannot cope with two VPN connections from the same IP address. Is this correct? If so, what can I do about it? Is there a work around, or would one of the other VPN protocols work? If so, how easy is it to set these up (I'm no IT professional)?Please note that the remote location in question is in a serviced office, so I'm not in a position to change or play around with their router.
Alright so I have an SSH server running on my network. I can successfully connect to it from a local computer using the server's internal IP address, AND I can connect to it from a remote computer using the server's external IP address (it's properly port forwarded).
However, when I try to connect to the server from a local computer using it's external IP address, I get a connection refused error. Is there something I'm missing?
I switched from Time Capsule with AirPort to E2000 and have a problem with configuration.I use the same IPs as in AirPort and E2000 gives me an error:"The WAN IP address cannot be the same subnet as the Guest Network IP address" and I can't save configuration.But in my opinion they are different.I use "Static IP" option and I have IPs from my ISP: [code] So WAN IP is different subnet as LAN and I don't know what to do now. It worked with these settings in AirPort and here I can't proceed.
I am having an issue where occasionally the Sidewinder starts to see my internal RFC 1918 address instead of the configured external address of my firewall. This is for peering between the two. The error they see on the Sidewinder is:So instead of seeing the external peer address he sees a 10.220.3.18 address. We are not sure what triggers this becuase normally he see's my 63.117.98.222 address.
I have an old ASA 5505, and I'm having some trouble with Nat Hairpinning. I've done this with other firewalls before and I am having no luck now. I have an internal address that I wish to forward from an external address- so if someone goes to 123.456.789.012:3456 then it will forward to 192.168.1.244:92 (All numbers are arbitrary here- only for illustration). I have and Access Rule and NAT and PAT set up so that I can get in if I originate from outside the LAN. What I am trying to do is to have this work from inside the LAN as well- so that if I am at my desk, and I connect a device and type in 123.456.789.012:3456, it will deliver the content at 192.168.1.244:92. The problem I am having is that it just isn't working, and I cannot figure out why- When I started here, there was an address configured to work this way, and it still works- I just cannot find what is different between what I am doing and what the person who configured it did.
I have a Linksys WRT54GS v5.1 router running firmware 1.52.5.I am trying to use Linksys IP Phones SPA942, but these do not seem to be able to log on and just show "Initializing network" even though the MAC address appears in the router with an IP address.The strange thing is that I already have 4 SPA941 phones that work with no problem and just log on to the network.Is there something about the SPA942 that I need to configure differently, I have factory reset it with sucess, but still unable to log on to the network.
I recently switched routers to the DIR-615 and I'm trying to troubleshoot why one of our laptops keeps losing the IP address and gets a self-assigned IP address. I see the following messages in the log, I am wondering if the reason codes are listed and explained somewhere? I tried searching the manual but could not find any information.
We have an ADSL connection and use a D-Link DSL-320B modem. We have a D-Link DIR-120 router connected to this modem. This has worked perfectly fine up until today when we disconnected the router and connected a computer (call it A) directly to the modem because it was getting an unusable connection through the router for some reason. We later also performed a factory reset on the DIR-120 router.
Unfortunately, after the above steps the router did not receive any IP address (through DHCP) from the ADSL connection anymore. During my attempts to debug this I noticed that my laptop (call it B) didn't get any IP address either (when connected directly to the modem). I noticed the following syslog entries repeating over and over while trying to connect: [code]
At this point computer A could still get a connection just fine tho (when connected directly to the modem).
I then tried to change the MAC address of the router to an arbitrary one (a copy of computer B's MAC address but with the last digit increased by one). The router still did not get assigned any IP address. Finally I tried making the router clone the MAC address of a third computer (call it C). C has never been connected directly to the modem. Doing this worked. After cloning the MAC address of computer C the router is immediately assigned an IP address and the internet connection works as it did prior to all this.
Now, my question is, why would computer B and the original MAC address of the router not be able to get an IP address while two other computers worked just fine? Why would changing to an arbitrary MAC address not work while cloning the MAC address of another computer did? Could the router's MAC address have been blocked by the ISP for some reason (and what could cause this)?
but my situation seems more like a blacklisting of some MAC addresses rather then allowing just a single MAC address.
On my cisco IOS 12.4 router,Can i make it so only lets say mac address 11:22:33:44:55:66 able to use ip address 10.10.10.2?I want this so that only this IP can configure servers, and so if the computer using it is turned off, any other device cannot use the IP address.
I recently configured and installed a 1941ISR for a customer. The customer purchased a 25-User SSLVPN license with the router, and I configured it for remote SSLVPN access. This is working nicely except for one issue: when users initiate an SSLVPN connection request by browsing to the assigned webvpn gateway IP, they get the "There is a problem with this website's security certificate" browser message. They are in the process of working with their DNS hosting provider to get a DNS entry assigned to the IP address so the users won't have to specify an IP address in the URL address box, but they will continue to get the certificate error until/unless I can figure out how to resolve the issue.
I've tried the following "How to make IE8 trust a self-signed certificate in 20 irritating steps" that I found via another forum link but with no luck:
1.Browse to the site whose certificate you want to trust. 2.When told "There is a problem with this website's security certificate.", choose "Continue to this website (not recommended)." 3.Select Tools->Internet Options. 4.Select Security->Trusted sites->Sites. 5.Confirm the URL matches, and click "Add" then "Close". 6.Close the "Internet Options" dialog box with either "OK" or "Cancel". 7.Refresh the current page. 8.When told "There is a problem with this website's security certificate.", choose "Continue to this website (not recommended)." 9.Click on "Certificate Error" at the right of the address bar and select "View certificates". 10.Click on "Install Certificate...", then in the wizard, click "Next". 11.On the next page select "Place all certificates in the following store". 12.Click "Browse", select "Trusted Root Certification Authorities", and click "OK". 13.Back in the wizard, click "Next", the "Finish". 14.If you get a "Security Warning" message box, click "Yes". 15.Dismiss the message box with "OK". 16.Select Tools->Internet Options. 17.Select Security->Trusted sites->Sites. 18.Select the URL you just added, click "Remove", then "Close". 19.Now shut down all running instances of IE, and start up IE again. 20.The site's certificate should now be trusted.
I followed all 20 irritating steps to the letter, but am still getting the security certificate nat.Now when I “Continue to this website (not recommended)” and click on "Certificate Error" at the right of the address bar, the certificate error windows says “Mismatched Address”.Is there a way that I can get this fixed without resorting to a 3rd party CA?
What I Mean By "Two Connections On One PC".I Am A Youtuber So I Like To Play Games, Upload Stuff Etc.But The Problem Is That When I'm Uploading I Cant Play Games Because Of The Lag.So Is There A Way To Setup Two Connections (One For Uploading And One For Gaming Etc.)
I was simply surfing the net and installed a program. I then deleted the program and simultaneously i was unable to connect to the internet using wifi. Connecting to the internet is not a problem with the Ethernet cable plugged in. I have checked everything i can with the router and the wifi is still active. When i try to connect to the wifi, using the symbol on the taskbar, it tells me that there are no connections available.I also tried using my iphone personal hotspot and that was also undetectable.When i go into the device manager, the only icon that is flagged is the, network controller. I have un-installed it and rebooted, I have restarted it. Quite annoying i might add

There probably would be many more connections, but the modem only allows so many. Unfortunately, they all use a different port (otherwise I'd just block that one). Because of all of this, my internet is very slow (connections are saturated)
I have a dual boot computer - Vista Home Premium and Windows 7 Home Premium. When booted into Vista I can map my Network and connect to the Internet, a network printer (ethernet) and a second Windows XP computer. When I boot into Windows 7 I can still access the internet and my networked devices but I cannot map my network. Also, the network system icon (bottom right-hand screen) shows erroneously that no connections are available - but clearly they are! The attachments show the status of my Vista and Windows 7 connections. The only thing that appears to be odd is that my Windows 7 system is set to 'Public' and my Vist system is set to 'Home'. I have tried all manner of things to change Windows 7 to 'Home' but to no avail.
It started when I couldn't connect to a specific website for 2 days. I had to change my IP to get on again, and when I did I got a message from the admin saying that I had been blocked automatically because my browser was using upwards of 200 connections at a time. He made me check all the browser settings for it, and everything was still set at default. I didn't download any program or add-on, I did nothing special. It started out of the blue. I did virus scans, I reinstalled firefox and opera (the browsers I use). At this point I have no clue what the problem is.
I use VNC all over my LAN.How do I make sure that it's secure and disable connections comming from outside my LAN?would forwarding the VNC port to a non-existing computer work? or would that just break my local VNC connections?I currently have some using ultravnc and some using tightvnc
The problem started a few days ago, with no apparent catalyst. I'm running Windows XP SP3 on a computer I built myself. The ethernet controller is built into my motherboard, an ASUS P5Q SE PLUS. Just bought CLEAR WiFi and un trying to connect to it on my pretty old Windows XP but when I go to network connections all I see is Local Area Connection...there's no WiFi available but my clear router is right next to my desktop & its working on my Mac Ps3 and Phone ...and I can't open my available wireless networks..

I have A WAN and DSL for Internet connection in my work place and both are using differnet Network address which means both have their own routers and i have connected both on the same cisco switch.And my Question is how can i use both connection on one computer with out changing every time the ip address of the computer.
Past few days I've been having problems with my WiFi connections. the modem connection to my desktop works fine.. i called the isp guy to fix it.. he did something to my roommates laptop and the WiFi works on it.. but any other device trying to connect to the WiFi connection doesn't seem to get the net.
As in like if i try to connect to the WiFi connection from my phone it shows that iv been connected to it but i cannot open anything.. no internet browser page, no fb, no whats app, no play store.. Nothing.. what could be the problem.. it was working fine a week back.. don't no what could have changed? and there is no problem with my phone.. cause i tested it to another WiFi connection as well.
I am working on a project at my company. In short, there is one PC in the office to which other user must remotely connect to perform certain tasks. The stuff they do must be done from the machine with the specific IP, the IP of that machine, as this is specified in agreements with the companies we work with. So far, we have been using Remote Desktop (our machines are Windows-XP-based PC's), but this is quite annoying when more than one person needs to use the machine at the same time
The fastest dsl speeds here is 1.5mbpsand I need something around 3mbps+. I'm curious if I could buy two 1.5 connections from my ISP and connect them both into a router and then hook a switch up to it and connect my PCs and everything to it to get 3 or if I would still just get the 1.5?
Trying to connect to the internet using my gateway laptop. Using a belkin G. wired connection I get: "Local Area Connection" doesn't have a valid IP configuration wireless connection I get: "Wireless Network Connection" doesn't have a valid IP configurationMy desktop which is connected by ethernet cable works fine and my sisters laptop using wireless is able to connect as well. I'm assuming settings on my laptop are wrong.I'm running win7 and haven't had issues until lately. drivers are up to date.
My dad just had to send his Acer Aspire back to the manufacturer to get the fan replaced. It came back factory reset and would not connect to any internet wired or otherwise. He called me and I asked him to bring it over. I can get it to connect to via Ethernet at my house, however, wireless is a no go. The status bar goes between "no connection available" to showing my network with two bars. When I attempt to connect to my network I get the standard "Window was unable to connect to this network". I currently have another PC, a PS3, a smart phone, and a tablet all connected with no problem (and all at full bars), so I know it's not the router. Is it possible to have two connections from a router to a switch?
Currently we have a wired connection going direct to the the switch however we would like to have a backup wireless connection via two range extenders.
i have 30 pcs hooked up under one network. all 30 sharing 1 internet connection. 10 of those are put in a separate room for certain reasons. but those 10 like to download and cause lag to the other 20 pcs. my plan is to keep the 30 pcs under 1 network but ill add another internet connection exclusively for the 10pcs. and the original internet connection exclusively for the 20 pcs. how can i do that? reason why i need all 30 in the same network is cause they all use softwares needed to be connected to each other locally.
