I use VNC all over my LAN.How do I make sure that it's secure and disable connections comming from outside my LAN?would forwarding the VNC port to a non-existing computer work? or would that just break my local VNC connections?I currently have some using ultravnc and some using tightvnc
I have a wireless router (an Actiontec PK5000) and two desktop computers that connect with USB wireless adapters. I'm looking for a way to stop one of those computers from connecting wirelessly, without disconnecting the other.I used to have a wired ethernet connection, but since I've moved my computer to a different room I've had to rely on a wireless connection. Previously, I shut off the wireless in the house whenever other people were hogging bandwidth, but now that's not an option, as it would shut me down too.
I use windows xp and a BT home hub 2.0, i had my wifi set up so i could enable and disable wifi at my leisure. However every now and then i don't get the option to disable the wifi, so i normally have to reset my default admin password and enter my own password to eventually re use the enable/disabled option. But now i can't even do that so i'm stuck with permanent wifi. I did briefly manage to get the disable/enable option back by reset hub to factory settings but now it has gone again. What can i do? On my home network page where it reads devices currently connected to your BT home hub it has no devices detected for wireless.
I have implemented 802.1X with ACS 5.3 and switches 2960 without problem. The thing is that one port transitioned into err-disabled and I dont know why.I dont have any logs to see what caused this.Is there a command to see why this happenedWhat do you think could cause this?

I have a home WI-FI network on windows 7 with an attached NAS drive for my media (plugged into the router).I was wondering how I would connect my work PC to the Wi-FI Network so it can access the media but disable the internet from only that PC.I have seen suggestions about blocking the work PC's IP in the router settings and something about MAC addresses, but was more hoping there was something simple I could disable in the network settings on the PC itself.
I am looking to disable 3 out of the 4 outlets on my router. There are 4 places where a cable can be inserted and I want to disable 3 of them so that internet service only comes out of one.
I'm thinking about restricting 802.11b devices on my wireless networks and was wondering what is the best way to do so. As far as I am aware I can do it by either selecting "802.11a/g only" as the radio policy for each WLAN (Not shure what effect this will have on 802.11n though) or by disabling the following data rates 5.5mbs and 11mbs.
I'm wanting to continue providing support for 802.11g,n devices both 2.5ghz & 5ghz for n
I have a n Ipad 4 with bad Wifi when connecting through a DL835, Firmware Version: 1.02. Other devices are fine and apparently i should try disabling WMM. I can see WMM but it's grayed out and i cannot disable.

We have a standard modem/wireless setup that has worked fine for years. Last month, my sister brought her laptop over and, for some unknown reason, choose "set up a connection or network" and unknowingly changed the setup to a security enabled network. I have no idea why she couldn't just log on without any problem. She has the same modem at her house, and I have no problem logging on at her house. Anyway, it now asks for a password, and she swears she never entered one. I can go online if I plug in an ethernet cord but that means my laptop can only go online at my desk. And I cannot use the internet features on my ipod touch. Is there a way to reset the modem back to a regular unsecured setup?

This worked for a few minuites untill the computer decided that the home hub should be dominent and instead of accesing the internet the browser would show the bt cannot conect to the internet page.
