Is it possible to have two connections from a router to a switch?
Currently we have a wired connection going direct to the the switch however we would like to have a backup wireless connection via two range extenders.
I'm planning to build a home network total of 11 computers including a server the other 10 units as client..i have a wireless router with 4 ports & a 8 port switch,i have read it before that i can connect my switch to 1 of the ports of my router and it can use my internet connections. anyways i was wondering if i can still use the other ports of my router as i would like to connect my server directly to the router and not on the switch so that i will be able to connect all the 11 units on my network, and also control it through my server using a client software.

The E4200 broadcasts a wireless network.In my basement, I have a Wii / entertainment center. The E4200 signal from upstairs isn't strong enough to stream video.
I bought the WET610N and have successfully set it up to interact with the E4200 wirelss network. I can hardwire my laptop to the WET610N and verify the internet works greatHowever, the Wii must connect over wireless. I have other equipment in the basement which would benefit from an internet connection. So, I want to A) connect the ESXS88W 10/100 8-port workgroup switch I have to the WET610N *AND* also broadcast a wireless signal in my basement (assuming the wireless network I see in the basement is the same "old" one from upstairs which has not benefited from the WET610N).
How can I set up my WRT54G2 to broadcast a wireless signal in the basement so that it leverages the E4200 signal served by the WET610N, while also having the workgroup switch offer hardwired connections to my other equipment (like Dish Network receiver)? It doesn't seem to work by just plugging the WRT54G2 into the workgroup switch.
I have a router connected ea2700 on the Internet port to a switch se2800.e switch is connected and everything is gigabit nas. if I try to transfer a file from PC, gigabit ethernet, the transfer rate does not exceed 8 MB/s. if I transfer a file from the NAS to the PC speed is 15 MB/s. the support advised me to change MTU manufacturer parameters,to disable protection,and clone the mac address.the situation has not changed.if I configure the router in bridge mode, the speed is 22MB/s and 45MB/s.

If true, can I return this switch for a replacement? The switch has firmware version 2.1 and the serial number is really hard to make out on the bottom of the unit. I have what I would consider a fairly basic config that I just can’t seem to get to work and I am sure it is something I am just not doing or grasping. Basically I have two 3560 switches that I would like to connect together with four 1Gb ports and trunk four vlans across said port-channel, I created the port-channel and set it to switchport trunk encapsulation dot1q I then set all four ports to channel-group # mode on. With that setup I can’t ping from switch to switch on the nonnative vlan.

The pc's connected to it before still run through ti fine but any new laptops using the proper authentication and password are unable to make a connection.First thing I am going to try is a factory reset(they mentioned resetting the router but they may have just rebooted it)

I am currently using a Linksys WRT54GS router. In my house we have about 15 connections to it with all but 2 of them wireless. Not all of the devices can get on at the same time so I called Linksys and they said our router only supports up to 11 or 12 connections.My question is how do I determine the amount of connections a router can handle at once so that I do not have this problem any more.

Unplugging to reset results in good, clear signal for a while, but the problem always comes back. It affects all connected machines (not sure if it makes any difference if a macnine is connected via wire.)

It has been working for years but after the internet was down in the area for most of the day, it has failed to reset. I've done the usual un-plug/wait/replug routine a few times but cannot connect. I can connect directly through the SIEMENS but when I introduce the DI-624 back into the mix, I'm not able to connect to the internet. How do I make it happen. I'm not tech savvy so go slow.

It has happily supplied this to an Ethernet connected desktop, Ethernet connected Blu-ray player, and wireless connections to two seperate laptop computers. When I try to add one more Ethernet (wired) connection to the mix, I always run into problems. Although the router has 4 outgoing Ethernet ports, it doesn't like to do more than two. Should I buy a new router? Cables?
View 4 Replies View RelatedI turned on my PC this morning and I found I could not connect to the Internet. I have a few other computers and devices in the house that are ALL connecting to the Internet fine. I've tried basic things like unplugging /re-plugging the Ethernet cable, resetting router, attempting to set up a new network, system restore, running norton anti-virus to detect any potential problems etc all of which haven't resolved the issue.
I also checked my device manager to see if my drivers were up to date and I found that under 'Other Devices' my Network Controller stated that the drivers were not installed. I'm not sure if this is the issue (considering my Internet was working absolutely fine less than 24hrs beforehand) but I can't search the Internet to automatically find the driver for obvious reasons.
I found a few people suggesting to use the hardware id to find the appropriate driver, any direct link to the driver. My network controller hardware id is below:

View 1 Replies View RelatedI am working with vpn setups for the first time. I would like to be able to connect to a computer on a home network through a linksys E2500 router. I have found alot of documentation on connecting to an external vpn from a computer on the lan side of the router, but nothing on connecting from the outside in. The router does have a static ip address with my internet provider, so I can contact the router from the outside. But makeing the connection to the computer on the other side of the router is where I am missing something or I dont realize that it is not possible. On the LAN side I am using DHCP to assign the address to the computer I want to connect to. Perhaps I need to make it have a static address also? I realize that when I configure the connection from the outside that I need to direct the connection to the remote computer in some way, unless vpn connections are fully passed through the router and the connection issue I am having is with the "inside" computer.

Is this normal, or could it be some kind of misconfiguration? At the moment, there are no connections to port 4444 in my PC's firewall connection list. Why would my PC connect to the router on port 4444?I've scanned my PC for viruses/malware and it's come up clean, so I was wondering if this could be caused by my router? View 13 Replies View RelatedI have a WRT54GL that I bought about 2 months ago, and I've had nothing but problems with the wi-fi since I started using it. It works as normal about 90% of the time, but usually 50+ times per day, I won't be able to connect to the router wirelessly (with ANY device, no matter how close I am to the router) for 1 to 2 minutes. The fact that I can't connect to the router with ANY devices during these times leads me to believe that the problem lies with the router itself. Another thing to note is that the wired connection to the router works just fine during these wireless outages.
I've tried changing channels and upgrading the firmware, but nothing has changed. Did I just get a bad router?
I recently upgraded my network because my DIR-655 started to drop connections. My new routers (a Netgear ProSafe VPN Firewall SRXN3205) is working great, but I'd like to re-purpose my D-Link as a wireless bridge.
According to Netgear support, I need to link my DIR-655 to another access point connected to the network over wired Ethernet. No problem there; I have a DAP-1522 connected via Ethernet on the floor directly below the location of the DIR-655. I was under the impression that although the signal was going through the floor, the physical distance to between the two devices would be sufficient to make the connection. No joy. I use the push-to-connect buttons on the two devices, but they do not connect. Is the floor the only issue? I do have an ANT-24 antenna extension for the DIR-655 router -- would that make any difference. As I say, the physical distance between the two devices is less than 10 feet.
We are having 3 internet connections coming in to one of our customer's main offices for redundancy and etc. I would like to replace the 3 routers with a one for easier support and management. One of the connections is an ADSL and the other 2 are leased lines so they terminate with an RJ45 connection.
Would something like a Cisco 2911 + HWIC ADSL card be sufficient enough or would you recommend something else?
So yesterday i was sitting at my computer, doing nothing and then the internet shuts off. So i go up stairs to check on the router, and all of the normal lights are on, as well as the modem. Neither the host or wireless computer has internet.I'm able to be on the forums because i hooked my modem up to this computer, without the router.Whenever i set the router back up, it has the normal connectivity lights on, but the wireless computer AND host computet dont get connection. Currently, we only use cables to connect to the router because we haven't been bothered to setup wireless. However, there's a curious problem where the moment we connect more than 2 devices at a time, the router loses connection to the internet. To be precise, all LEDs are on, except wireless (d'uh) and Internet.
All involved computers run Win7.
How can I test for proper network setup with my home wireless router? Is there some free software that can test all connections for integrity?
