D-Link DIR-655 :: Connections To Router On Port 4444?

Jun 7, 2011

I noticed over 100 connections from my wirelessly-connected PC to my router's IP address, destination port 4444. Is this normal, or could it be some kind of misconfiguration? At the moment, there are no connections to port 4444 in my PC's firewall connection list. Why would my PC connect to the router on port 4444?I've scanned my PC for viruses/malware and it's come up clean, so I was wondering if this could be caused by my router? Google doesn't have any answers to this either. My firmware version is 1.34.

D-Link DIR-655 :: Router Drop Connections After Upgrade

Dec 30, 2010

I recently upgraded my network because my DIR-655 started to drop connections.  My new routers (a Netgear ProSafe VPN Firewall SRXN3205) is working great, but I'd like to re-purpose my D-Link as a wireless bridge.

According to Netgear support, I need to link my DIR-655 to another access point connected to the network over wired Ethernet.  No problem there; I have a DAP-1522 connected via Ethernet on the floor directly below the location of the DIR-655.  I was under the impression that although the signal was going through the floor, the physical distance to between the two devices would be sufficient to make the connection.  No joy.  I use the push-to-connect buttons on the two devices, but they do not connect.  Is the floor the only issue?  I do have an ANT-24 antenna extension for the DIR-655 router -- would that make any difference.  As I say, the physical distance between the two devices is less than 10 feet.

TP-Link 3G/3.75G Router :: TL-MR3220 In Hotel With Limited Connections

Mar 19, 2013

Region : Singapore
Model : TL-MR3220
Hardware Version : V1
Firmware Version :

I travel and connect this device in the hotels. On this occasion, the hotel wired connection is limited to one device with username/password entered through the web page. Is there a way to share this connection using one of the modes to multiple devices (the devices will run in a different subnet than the hotel network). I understand I can do this in WISP mode but only for sharing hotel wireless connection. The hotel wifi has poor reception, hence I want to use wired. Is there a way to do this? I would imagine this would be not an unusual scenario in many top hotels. Mid hotels generally do not have such limitations.

D-Link DIR-615 :: Arbitrarily Dropping Connections / Overheating Router

May 27, 2012

A few weeks ago I began having issues with my 615 arbitrarily dropping connections and so on which turned out to be an overheating router, due to sudden hot weather here in the UK, and I just wanted to share how I solved it. My solution was to dremel a hole in the case just big enough to fit a small, silent 12v brushless fan I salvaged from a wrecked computer's PSU, which would then rest on the PCB without any real fixtures. I even drilled some small holes in the side of the case for air to exit. This was fine though because the router is never moved around. Rather than solder the fan onto the power jack socket connections inside to use the unit's own supply, I used an old, disused multi-adaptor and ran the fan cables out of a small hole at the back. The benefit of that was that it didn't add any strain to the router's PSU as this was already under some load after messing around with transmit power in dd-wrt. Another small advantage is that I get voltage control on the fan for slowing on cooler days.

Tp-link Wr1043-nd Router Stops Taking Wifi Connections?

Sep 29, 2012

I have been using a TP-Link WR1043-ND for a while now. It is configured as a dumb switch with DHCP disabled. Every other day or so, the device stops taking connections and I cannot access via the IP address. A simple power toggle resets everything immediately. Through this, the LAN connected devices never lose connectivity, I simply am not able to connect wirelessly or access the router via web browser.The only device I connect to the wifi is my phone, so it may actually be more frequently and I do not notice due to my low utilization (and I have 3G so I don't always notice right away if I'm connected). I have a WDTV Live SMP connected to one of the LAN ports and that functions non-stop regardless of the wifi. When the wifi is "down", my phone can see the network and attempts to connect. Sometimes it times out, other times I am repeatedly prompted that the password is incorrect, even though I am POSITIVE that I am entering it correctly. Once I toggle power on the router, the phone connects fine with the stored password.

I have updated to the latest firmware (about a month or so ago): Version: 3.13.12 Build 120405 Rel.33996n My hardware version is: WR1043ND v1 00000000 The router is connected (via LAN port 1) to a wall drop. My upstairs roomate maintains the gig switch and modem, as well as handling the network admin. I simply am using the router as a switch to provide extra ports and broadcast the network over wifi in my apartment.All that said: I need troubleshooting this router and it's configuration before I consider buying a more expensive replacement (and if I go this route, I might add a small switch as well to give me more than 4 LAN ports to work with). I am also considering flashing to DD-WRT before replacing as well to see if that makes a difference in reliability and uptime.

Multiple Connections Via One Ethernet Port?

Feb 19, 2013

The ethernet ports across the entire campus including the halls all host multiple networks via one port. I connect to the port and I get one connection, and my friend connects to get a second connection through the same port, and a third person connected via the same port to get yet another connection. I think there may be 4 connections being hosted through this in total. Now, the university have 3 main streams of internet: 1 for Staff/postgrad, 1 for students, 1 for exchange students. The fourth connection type is intranet with only access to a portal. The purpose of the portal is to submit your mac address for wireless and ethernet to be assigned an IP address for both. The issue we are having is my friend needs to connect to the exchange students connection for actual internet access, but the ethernet cable will only connect her to the portal (all her details have been submitted). I have cycled through every window in the networking control panel and usually issues like this I can resolve within a couple of hours but how to identify other networks that are available through ethernet.

Inside host 10.1.1.60 needs to use port 61200 for bit torrent. Dont want the port to be visible as open to the global net accept when the host 10.1.1.60 establishes the connection first.That way a port doesnt have to be left open 24-7.

Now the matter is, as the server uses a shared internet connection which is always very slow,I decided to have a dedicated internet connection in the server by adding an extra NIC.but what happens is when the outsiders try to connect to the dedicated internet connection IP address,the port 2230 is not forwared to the server pc.If I dissable LAN in this PC then the outsiders are able to connect.

D-Link DIR-615 :: Can't See Ethernet Connections

Feb 15, 2012

I come home from work on my lunch break to discover that my dog spilled her food on my router and I'm pretty sure thats how she discovered that cat5 cables are fun to saw on with her teeth, she chewed clean through 4 of them...she also chewed through the power cable and somehow cheated death in that regard.

After repairing and crimping all ethernet cables and substituting a brand new one for good measure, the DIR-615 will not see any ethernet connections, ie the lights on the front do not come on when the cable is plugged in, however I plugged my internet Cat5 into it and the little globe lights up saying that it is getting the internet.  The wireless works fine as I connected to it with my phone.  I know I repaired the cables properly but to rule that out I have used a brand new un-chewed cable and the router won't see that either.  Is it possible that something was fried when the dog chewed through the power cable?

D-Link DIR-655 :: Subsonic Port Forwarding / Get Machine - Port From Outside / Internet

Feb 16, 2011

I am having an issue opening a port (4040) on the 655 for my Fedora-based subsonic server.  Inside the LAN, I can see the device from other peer machines, so I am confident the port is open and listening.  However, I can't seem to get to the machine-port from outside/internet.

I have tried Virtual Server and Port Forwarding with single port.  The server has a stactic IP which I've included in the DHCP range and outside the range.  I have a DSL connection (AT&T), modem only.  I have updated firmware.  I have exhausted the Subsonic community's knowledge, everything points to the router, but all the settings seem correct.  What am I missing?  Is if possible there is a defect in the router? (don't laugh).  Is there a way to trace a request to that port to see where it is hanging?

(yes, I've STFA, but don't know what else to do).

D-Link DIR-655 :: None Of Port Forwarding Settings Are Working At All On Router

Nov 30, 2012

None of the port forwarding settings are working at all on my router. I have just a couple very simple settings. One of them is just an IP camera. I input the name, the TCP port, the computer (IP address) and that's it. This works just fine with my other Netgear router, but with this router, NADA. The router has the latest version of the firmware applied. Just applied it. Hardware version B. Firmware version: 2.10NA. If so, then I really need my money back since it is a main function of a router and it should work. Can't return it now, since I bought it several months ago. Never knew port forwarding didn't work because I never needed it until now.

D-Link DIR-615 :: Port Forwarding And Router Reset Behaviour?

Jan 8, 2010

I have DIR-615, connected via ethernet. I enabled port forwarding for Quake 3, using the range of 27660-27980 to account for custom server ports. Set schedule to "always" although also did "never" but it didn't make a difference. I checked the FAQs for frequent resets vis a vis application outbound requests, which recommended disable uPnP and this had no effect. Symptom: when Quake 3 attempts to connect to the Master Server, the router resets all connections, LAN and WLAN. It takes approximately 30 seconds to regain connection to WAN, although LAN does not drop. Also during this time, the world sigil on the router itself turns orange. This is the only time this happens, when trying to play Quake 3. Previous router to this one was Linksys (by Cisco) BEFSR41, in which simply setting up port forwarding for the client IP address allowed connection. I can find no particular reason why the router resets all interfaces when blocking a port, if it is indeed the firewall triggering this.

Other infos:

Model: Wireless N 615, DHCP enabled on both sides
LAN connect: Category5 to 10/100 NIC onboard to Intel 865GBF
Client firewall: none
Client OS: Windows XP Professional SP3

D-Link DIR-655 :: Port Forwarding And Router Masking External Ip

Jul 29, 2011

I currently use a D-Link DIR-655 router on a game server I run and I've been having this problem for sometime now.  I have the router hooked up to the internet modem, and then my server computer hooked up to the router's first port.  I use port forwarding to forward the game ports, as well as my FTP server ports.  I have about 80 clients or so logged in at a time on my server.The issue is the following.  Our internet connection has an external IP of 67.23.155.123 (this is just an example).  My internal IP is 192.168.0.101.When I do "netstat" to see all the clients logged in to the game server on this computer or when I run Wireshark, every client logged in to the server (for this game application) is shown as having an IP of 67.23.155.123 (the server's external IP).On the other hand, for our FileZilla FTP server, if I run Wireshark/netstat, I can actually see the client's external IP (i.e. each individual IP of people logged into the FTP).If I hook up the server directly to the internet modem, this isn't a problem, and I am able to correctly see the IP of each client logged in to the game server individually.
