Jul 11, 2012I only have access to rather slow connections (256 Kbps). But since I have two lines and two modems, I was wondering if I could bond them together and make a faster one. My main modem is a Lynksys WAG120N Wireless-N ADSL2+ Modem Router, which as you can see is also in charge of both wired and wireless networks at my place. The second one is an older D-Link ADSL modem (JUST modem).Since I have an extra LAN port on my Lynksys modem, I want to know if and how I can connect the second modem, and combine the two rates.

1. I'm interested if it's possible to block certain contetn only at certain time ? e.g. We would like to block facebook from 7:00 to 10:00 and from 11:00 to 15:00. I was going through cisco manuals but can't find the right answer to this.
2. Cisco 871 has 4 LAN interfaces and one WAN interface. Currently WAN interface is connected to adsl modem in bridge mode and LAN 0 interface is connected to switch.
I'm interested if I could use remaining 3 LAN interfaces for adsl connections same as I'm using WAN interface. Then I would create vlans that would use LAN interface 0. Each of those VLAN's would use different adsl connection.I would assign different IP to each VLAN's so users would be able to change their gateway and use different ADSL connection.

Dec 27, 2011[code] My connection is ADSL with 2Mbps broadband. Using speedtest.net for testing the speed I got almost 2Mbps, that is ok, but this is connected directly to the modem. The problem is when I use the router, when I connect it the speed downs onward until it achieve a stable value of 512kbps, that is 4 times less than my contracted speed. I have tried with four different D-Link routers (DIR-280, DIR-600, DIR-600 N150, DIR-615), four ones give the same problem.D-Link tech support people don't have idea about what is happening just like tech support people from my Internet provider. I think the problem is not the modem because I get 2Mbps from it connected directly (without the router).I do the speed test in an interval of 3 minutes between each test, with just one device connected and only doing the speed test, all programs that use Internet access are closed.
Always is the same, after a time the speed drops down, from 2Mbps until 512kbps. The router has the QoS disabled, I have tried changing the MTU value, I have tried some values 1492 (this is the official from the Internet provider), also I have tried some lower numbers 1400, 1200 but the result is the same. The router has as security only wpa2 and it has a static public IP, the modem is configured as bridge. I have also tried unplugging the phones, connected to the splitter, keeping away the wireless phones, moving away the router from the modem for electronic interference, modifying the WAN speed from auto to 10 and 100, I have disabled the firewall, change the channels and power TX. I do the speed tests using the wireless and wired interfaces.

May 5, 2013My professor have asked us to do an IOS upgrade for a Cisco 827 ADSL Router. But I´am having problems to find the appropiate IOS image. The router original IOS is c827-y6-mz.121-1.XB and it supports routing protocols like rip bgp eigrp ospf is-is, etc.
Now, we have to find a newer IOS release that supports the same amount of routing protocols. This Router has only 24 MB DRAM and 8 MB Flash. We have tried with a IP PLUS/FW/IPSEC release 12.3(26) but when I write : route ? it only shows eigrp, odr and rip.
I am searching for a newer release that fits in those 24 MB and which has the other need routing protocols like ospf,bgp, etc.

May 16, 2013I have a bit of an issue setting up an Cisco 837/SOHO ADSL Router.
Basically what it is is that my Broadband router isnt doing its job very well, and the last piece of the puzzle in the server area is to upgrade the router, and I have with this. Now. I hve followed the setups as per cisco's guidlines very well and doen alot of research on the CLI commands, I have access to the router and have setup the system.
My broadband in the office is Orange/EE and its PPPoA. I hvae all the settings, and such and have followed a set of commands that apply to BT broadband but, It simply hasnt worked in my case. Any CLI commands to setup this router so i'll replace my business livebox.

Nov 20, 2011A Layer 2 switch with IP Address 192.168.1.4 (Vlan0), subnet 255.255.255.0 is physically connected to ADSL Router with IP address 192.168.1.1 (which is also the gateway address for the switch). The problem I have is that all the devices connected to the switch can intercommunicate but are unable to communicate with devices connected to the Router. I guess this may be something to do with how the Vlan is configured on ADSL router?

Within the house the wireless signal is fine, however I have an outside office in the garden which is just beyond the normal range of the wireless signal. I tested this by connecting using my DELL XPS Win7 laptop and walking from the house to the office and it lost the signal about 10 feet short!
Is there any way to extend the range of the wireless signal? I cannot use homeplugs as the office is on a different fuse box from the house.
The BT Home Hub 2 is an ADSL router using n technology.
I do have a spare Netgear N150 ADSL2+ wireless router, is there any way of using it to boost the range of the signal?

Nov 22, 2012I have a problem connecting wifi router(airlive wt-2000r) to my ADSL modem(webstar epc2203ed2.0) using utp patch cable. When my PC is connected straight to the ADSL modem everything works like charm. But when I connect modem with wan port on the router and router with my PC I get no internet access. The network shows as unidentified network and win7 troubleshooter says: Default gateway not available. Connecting them two devices seems pretty simple and I dont think I am doing anything wrong so what could be the problem?

No problems there with the old router.Now I opened the relevant ports for both TCP and UDP on the 877, but VPN simply won't establish when trying to connect from the outside. Process of getting the 877 to stop wanting to take charge of things VPN and just pass them off to an inside server?
I need to VPN into my work from my laptop on the private side of the 877. This works fine until after authentication, then the VPN connection goes silent, no traffic going through. Works fine when for instance using my iphone hotspot to connect through from my laptop. It's only not working when the 877 is in the equation.

May 26, 2013I have a Cisco 2811 router with 2 ADSL interfaces and we have 2 internet lines associated with it. One is with Telstra and one is with iiNet. All internet traffic from inside the office is routed through Telstra line. The iiNet line is used for incoming emails, establishing VPN etc. The problem is that we are not able to "PING" the iiNet's IP address from the outside world however, PING works for Telstra IP. What do I need to configure on the router if I want to PING and Putty in the router using both Telstra's and iiNet's IP from outside world?

E1000 - Use ADSL Line With Broadband Router?
Aug 16, 2012I have a broadband router (Linksys E1000) which I've flashed with a DD-WRT firmware. After doing so I realized that this router doesn't have an interface for ADSL port(RJ-11). How can I use the Linksys E1000 for my home network?
I've heard that I can use ADSL modem(not a router) & plug the RJ-11 to it & take from it the Ethernet & plug it back to the E1000(in the WAN port) would that mean that I can get just a modem and not a hybrid?
Note: Also, I have to mention that my ISP is using PPPoA & DD-WRT is not supporting it, but i googled & they said that the ADSL modem cab be the rescue. Can I pick any ADSL modem for this specific scenario or am I looking at a specific model?
Secondly, can I use my old router to do the job instead of buying a new ADSL modem ? & is it a good approach ? or should i buy a new ADSL modem ?
Update i turned my DD-WRT router(E1000) to act as access point, since this is the only way that i can use it with the DD-WRT feature. & i think this is better than have nothing :) I can now have the DD-WRT functions ;)

Now i want to connect this new Cisco Router to it to basically do the firewall/filtering/dhcp...leave the authentication thing on my Modem.Can i get a head start what to configure here on the cisco? since it does not work as easily as other Router where I can just plug a cable from modem LAN to Router LAN.
