can a Cisco 2811 router bundle 2 or 4 ADSL lines ? Reason am asking, we need a device that would be able to bundle 2 or 4 ADSL lines from ISP so that we can you it as backup link in-case the company Internet link does down.
View 5 RepliesI have a Cisco 2811 router with 2 ADSL interfaces and we have 2 internet lines associated with it. One is with Telstra and one is with iiNet. All internet traffic from inside the office is routed through Telstra line. The iiNet line is used for incoming emails, establishing VPN etc. The problem is that we are not able to "PING" the iiNet's IP address from the outside world however, PING works for Telstra IP. What do I need to configure on the router if I want to PING and Putty in the router using both Telstra's and iiNet's IP from outside world?

In a site we currently have 1 BT provided ADSL link which is currently terminated using their device which I believe is some kind of 2wire device, which is extremely slow due to distance from the Exchange (4Mbps)...We have a growing number of users here and want to install a second ADSL line from BT to give them increased performance.
We have a Cisco 2800 sat not doing much so I was wondering if I could use this to load balance the link? I know BT do not support MPPP so therefore the maximum any user can get will be the speed of a single link (4Mbps)...But basically how can this be done..

I have recently purchased 2911 routers running 15.1 to replicate a system I had implemented using 2811 routers running 12.4 a few years ago. None of my applications and servers have changed, but trying to determine why my router access-list on my serial links are not behaving the same. I don't keep up with Cisco changes.
On my original system, which is a private network that distributes a lot of udp broadcast and multicast data to remote sites over 64k serial lines, I manage some of the udp broadcast data using access-lists. When I check on my 2811-based system, "show ip access-list" shows a nice distribution of filter hits showing my expected deny/permit access-list entries working as expected allowing me to filter the particular udp broadcast ports of interest on the various serial interfaces.
On my 2911 based system, with most other elements the same, the access-list is not working correctly, and I see data getting through the access control to the other side of the serial link. Using tcp dump and other tools on the remote systems my routers attach to, it looks like the access control is basically ignored... though if I "shutdown / no shutdown" the serial link between the routers, it definitely stops and restarts the flow of data, so I know data is traveling over that interface... when I run "show ip access-list" on the 2911, I see tons of hits on one deny filter, and the last "ip permit any any" filter, but other deny udp any any eq XXX port filters are simply not registering denies.. which should be triggering since I see my server sending the data, and my client systems receiving the extra data I am supposed to be filtering on the router...
Is there potentially a new feature or command set option that I am missing to correctly filter outbound data from my serial links?

I am trying to get my Cisco 2811 to authenticate four DSL connections and load balance them by attaching the four DSL to a switch (each DSL going to a seperate VLAN) and then trunking all four VLAN's to a ethernet interface on the 2811. My issue, I can not get more than one DSL to authenticate at a time, for example Dialer1 will connect and then it will disconnect and Dialer2 will connect, etc... I have the modems in bridge mode and I am using seperate user/pass for each DSL account and I have verified that the user/pass are correct.

Because of the high traffic volume, we have to use multiple multilinks. 7609 router doesn't allow ppp multlink to span SIPs, so we use multiple mulitilinks between sites on different SIPs. OSPF for load balancing will be used. THE PROBLEM IS: when we define the second ppp multilink between two 7609 routers, the new multilink stays "inactive". View 3 Replies View RelatedMy professor have asked us to do an IOS upgrade for a Cisco 827 ADSL Router. But I´am having problems to find the appropiate IOS image. The router original IOS is c827-y6-mz.121-1.XB and it supports routing protocols like rip bgp eigrp ospf is-is, etc.
Now, we have to find a newer IOS release that supports the same amount of routing protocols. This Router has only 24 MB DRAM and 8 MB Flash. We have tried with a IP PLUS/FW/IPSEC release 12.3(26) but when I write : route ? it only shows eigrp, odr and rip.
I am searching for a newer release that fits in those 24 MB and which has the other need routing protocols like ospf,bgp, etc.

I have a bit of an issue setting up an Cisco 837/SOHO ADSL Router.
Basically what it is is that my Broadband router isnt doing its job very well, and the last piece of the puzzle in the server area is to upgrade the router, and I have with this. Now. I hve followed the setups as per cisco's guidlines very well and doen alot of research on the CLI commands, I have access to the router and have setup the system.
My broadband in the office is Orange/EE and its PPPoA. I hvae all the settings, and such and have followed a set of commands that apply to BT broadband but, It simply hasnt worked in my case. Any CLI commands to setup this router so i'll replace my business livebox.
The PPPoE connection can be successfully established only if the PC dials up, but not if the router replaces the PC to do so.Both the PC and the router are identically configured for this purpose, i.e. using the same ADSL dial-up account(usr/passwd pair). As a whole, we can exclude any wrong configuration on the router itself.

View 7 Replies View RelatedI have a Cisco 877 ADSL router which won't let me play with my VPNs like I used to in pre-Cisco days.I have a VPN server which resides on the inside of the network which used to get it's L2TP as well as PPTP tunnels passed straight through the ADSL router. No problems there with the old router.Now I opened the relevant ports for both TCP and UDP on the 877, but VPN simply won't establish when trying to connect from the outside. I need to VPN into my work from my laptop on the private side of the 877. This works fine until after authentication, then the VPN connection goes silent, no traffic going through. I cannot find instructions on how to use the latest 4.0.18 ADSL firmware on an 887 router.
I've downloaded adsl_alc_20190_4.0.018.bin from the website and copied it to flash, but cannot find any instructions on applying the firmware. Tried rebooting but made no difference.

View 2 Replies View Related[code] My connection is ADSL with 2Mbps broadband. Using speedtest.net for testing the speed I got almost 2Mbps, that is ok, but this is connected directly to the modem. The problem is when I use the router, when I connect it the speed downs onward until it achieve a stable value of 512kbps, that is 4 times less than my contracted speed. I have tried with four different D-Link routers (DIR-280, DIR-600, DIR-600 N150, DIR-615), four ones give the same problem.D-Link tech support people don't have idea about what is happening just like tech support people from my Internet provider. I think the problem is not the modem because I get 2Mbps from it connected directly (without the router).I do the speed test in an interval of 3 minutes between each test, with just one device connected and only doing the speed test, all programs that use Internet access are closed.
Always is the same, after a time the speed drops down, from 2Mbps until 512kbps. The router has the QoS disabled, I have tried changing the MTU value, I have tried some values 1492 (this is the official from the Internet provider), also I have tried some lower numbers 1400, 1200 but the result is the same. The router has as security only wpa2 and it has a static public IP, the modem is configured as bridge. I have also tried unplugging the phones, connected to the splitter, keeping away the wireless phones, moving away the router from the modem for electronic interference, modifying the WAN speed from auto to 10 and 100, I have disabled the firewall, change the channels and power TX. I do the speed tests using the wireless and wired interfaces.
