A Layer 2 switch with IP Address 192.168.1.4 (Vlan0), subnet 255.255.255.0 is physically connected to ADSL Router with IP address 192.168.1.1 (which is also the gateway address for the switch). The problem I have is that all the devices connected to the switch can intercommunicate but are unable to communicate with devices connected to the Router. I guess this may be something to do with how the Vlan is configured on ADSL router?

My desktop however, does not have built-in wireless and therefore would have to connect to the ADSL router (Netgear) through ethernet but this cannot be done as the router must remain in my bedroom, much too far away for cables to reach.I bought a USB wireless connecter for the desktop but it doesn't seem to work. I have a problem connecting wifi router(airlive wt-2000r) to my ADSL modem(webstar epc2203ed2.0) using utp patch cable. When my PC is connected straight to the ADSL modem everything works like charm. But when I connect modem with wan port on the router and router with my PC I get no internet access. The network shows as unidentified network and win7 troubleshooter says: Default gateway not available. Connecting them two devices seems pretty simple and I dont think I am doing anything wrong so what could be the problem?

I have a Wimax internet connection via an ethernet cable from a small roof top receiver dish. Inside the house the cable (RJ45) is plugged into the POE slot on one side of a small electrically powered black box, and from the other side, an ethernet cable (RJ45), connects to my PC. I want to share my internet connection with my HTC mobile and would prefer to make use of an existing Belkin 54g ADSL2 modem/wireless router (Belkin F5D7633) if I can. As this router's incoming port is specifically for ADSL my internet RJ45 cable can not plug into it. I have been advised that I can still utilise the router part of the Belkin though, using my PC as an access point, by plugging the ethernet cable from the PC side of the little black box into LAN 1 on the router, then joining the PC to LAN 2 of the router with another ethernet cable.I did not alter the configuration of the Belkin at all (having reset factory defaults beforehand), mainly because although I could access the internet from my PC and my mobile, I could not access the IP address of the router, presumably because the properties of the local area connection on my PC remained unchanged with the IP address (172.168.1.149), Subnet Mask (255.255.255.0), Default Gateway (172.168.1.1) and 3 DNS addresses (172.168.1.1) (10.30.0.1) (8.8.8.8) as they were before hooking up the Belkin. The IP address the mobile received through WIFI on connecting to the Belkin was 172.168.1.148
I was not unduly concerned about not being able to access the configuration of the router as everything was working as I had hoped it would and even when I powered off my PC I still had internet access on my mobile. On rebooting the PC, however, I found that the router changed the DNS addresses on the PC to 2 only, both identical (192.168.2.1) and the IP on the mobile was allocated 192.168.2.2 Although I could still access the internet on my PC, I no longer had access from my mobile although the WIFI connection to the Belkin showed as being 'excellent'. When I did a 'repair' of my internet connection, hoping to revert to a fully operative state, the PC configuration changed again as follows: IP address becomes that of the router (192.168.2.1), Subnet Mask (255.255.255.0), Default Gateway (192.168.2.1), 2 DNS addresses (192.168.2.1) and the IP address allocated to my mobile remains (192.168.2.2) This configuration means I have no internet access from either PC or phone, but CAN access the router configuration. I restored a usable operating state by unplugging the power from the router, transposing the cables in the LAN ports on the router (swapped cable from LAN1 to LAN2 and vice versa), turned off WIFI on mobile and waited a minute or two. When I powered the router back up and switched on mobile WIFI again, everything was restored to the original working state and I have, once again, access to internet on both PC and mobile. It is very frustrating, however, to keep performing this ritual and I wonder if any of you more technically minded, know a way to work around this, perhaps by manually changing the configuration of PC or router?
I am trying to connect a wireless router (EDIMAX br-6228nc) with a ADSL router (NETGEAR). i assigned the LAN IP of the ADSL modem to 192.168.1.1, subnet mask 255.255.255.0, and enable DHCP server.then i connected a LAN port from ADSL router to the WAN port of the wireless router. i assigned IP of the WAN port of wireless router to 192.168.1.10, subnet mask to 255.255.255.0 and default gateway to 192.168.1.1 now on the LAN side of the wireless router i assigned IP 192.168.0.1 and subnet mask 255.255.255.0 enabling DHCP server.on the client pc i selected the setting of automatically assign IP setting (which it got 192.168.0.100, default gateway 192.168.0.1) but my client pc is not able to access the internet.
We currently have a main network running through a static broadband connecting using a Cisco 1700 ADSL router, everything is working fine locally.
We are looking to rent some space in an office nearby so im going to order another business adsl connection with static IP for this site and i currently have a spare 1800 router.My question is can the cisco routers connect up like a VPN connection so both sites work together and will the connection remain online constantly so from the remote office we can access all our servers from the main network?
Also how does the IP addressing work on 2 sites. The main network uses 10.120.21.x and DHCP is assigned from a cisco router. Does the remote network assign from the same DHCP server or would the remote sites cisco router need to be setup to give out DHCP to local machines. If so what would be the best IP setup to use.
I've a Shiro DSL805E Modem and to connect to multiple computers, I connected an Encore 5 Port Switch. Now I got laptop and thought of getting a wireless network, so I bought TP-Link TL-MR3420 Wireless Router and connected it to the one of the wires from the Encore Switch. But I'm unable to access the internet through TP-Link Router but the internet works fine for the computers which are directly connected to switch. how to do ip settings for TP-Link Router. But when I connect router directly to modem by bypassing switch, it works fine but not via switch. I have been having a weird connection issue for a week or so.The problem is at the first time i boot up my modem it simply cant connect.DSL Line LED keeps blinking- handshaking and training as it says in modem config page.After maybe 5 minutes or 2 hours, totally random.It picks up the connection, i can use it for hours until it randomly drops down once again.Ive contacted my ISP and they came over two times, they state the line quality is not suitable for my connection speed and it will be solved if i drop down my connection speed.Doing that is a painful process cause there is no other speed/quota package suitable for me, so i wanted to ask you people about it before i take action.

I have two public IP's entering a location from two different sources. One is under our control and the other is a 3rd party. Lets say Ours: 1.2.3.1 3rd Party 1.2.3.2
One is coming in through a firewall/router and the other is a direct link. Each will come into a different network segment 192.168.200.0/24 and 192.168.210.0/24
some of the hosts one subnet will need to talk to the other.
My envisioned setup would be as follows.
1.2.3.1 will come in to the firewall/router into the managed switch. 1.2.3.2 will come in the the same switch but in a vlan The vlan will have a trunked port to the firewall/router to allow routing between the vlan (192.168.210.0) and the other subnet (192.168.200.0).

Have a Linksys E4200 router located in my basement and I am experiencing a puzzling wired connectivity issue as follows: Port 1 on the router is for my study, I have no problem getting connection regardless if I use my study's Ethernet jack or if I run a 5 ft. cable (hereinafter THE CABLE) from the router’s port 1 to my laptop (i.e., cabling does not make a difference).I then connect to router port 1 an EZXS55W Linksys switch (using port 1 on the switch and THE CABLE) and then connect my laptop to port 2 on the switch using a second cable. I have a SR520 router with the ADSL WAN built in. I am looking to ignore the ADSL port and utilise the 4 FA ports to route between two networks.Can I configure the ports on the switch part of the router to become Layer 3 and take there own Ip addresses? Ive tried to configure NetFlow on layer 2 without success. I configured the recondmonitorexporter like the configuration guide said. but still i dont receive any netflow traffic. I checked the firewall on the VM and it looks fine.

I've had my network up and running for several years with no issues. Last week I upgraded my router to a Dlink 826L and now anything connected to my downstream Dlink DSS16+ can't be accessed.
I have a Dlink Wireless N Xtreme DIR-655 I have run out of port 4 on it to a switch with a cat 5 patch cable that is 25 ft long It is connected to the Internet port on a Dlink 4 port switch. When i run from that on any of the 4 ports back to my computer ( Win7). I get no internet access but if i connect the cable straight from the router there is no problem. I even attempted to use a older dlink router for the switches and no luck there at all. Any reason the internet would not be broadcasting through the switch.

We have a problem with the Layer2 view of the Topology java applet in Cisco Prime LMS 4.2.The Layer2 view shows all the ethernet interfaces links but not the ones in the serial interfaces.All devices have CDP and SNMP (read-only) enabled, and theirs neighbors can be seen with "show cdp neighbors" in both sides of those links.
