Connecting Wifi Router To Adsl Modem

Nov 22, 2012

I have a problem connecting wifi router(airlive wt-2000r) to my ADSL modem(webstar epc2203ed2.0) using utp patch cable. When my PC is connected straight to the ADSL modem everything works like charm. But when I connect modem with wan port on the router and router with my PC I get no internet access. The network shows as unidentified network and win7 troubleshooter says: Default gateway not available. Connecting them two devices seems pretty simple and I dont think I am doing anything wrong so what could be the problem?

Connecting Layer2 Switch To ADSL Router

Nov 20, 2011

A Layer 2 switch with IP Address (Vlan0), subnet is physically connected to ADSL Router with IP address (which is also the gateway address for the switch). The problem I have is that all the devices connected to the switch can intercommunicate but are unable to communicate with devices connected to the Router. I guess this may be something to do with how the Vlan is configured on ADSL router?

TP-Link TD-W8901G - Can ADSL Modem Router Be Used As Standalone

Jun 4, 2011

I'm expanding my home network and the adsl modem router supplied by my ISP has just 1 RJ-45 port and 1 usb port (and an RJ-11 for the Internet). I have zeroed in on TP-Link TD-W8901G having 4 RJ-45 ports, 1 USB port, 1 RJ-11 port and also it is a wireless router. Currently I would be connecting the above modem router to my desktop running Linux and using the same ISP with ADSL. Considering a future scenario where I may decide to use another way to connect to the Internet like maybe 3G or Cable, etc (with their separate modems) I was wondering if my same modem router (TD-W8901G) could be used as a standalone router for connecting the devices on my home network. Basically, what I want to know is whether this modem router would be able to share an Internet connection from some other source, other than the one provided through its own RJ-11 (ADSL) source?

I am connected to the internet via a non TP=Llink ADSL2 modem/router supplied by my ISP.I was using my TL-MR3220 as a 3G modem but no longer need it for that purpose. I was wondering whether I can now use my TL-MR3220 for two other purposes: as an additional wireless access point and as a means of linking equipment (i.e. printers) to the home network . i have tried connecting the ADSL2 modem/router to the TL-MR3220 via an ethernet cable (one of the 4 LAN ports on the ADSL modem/router to the blue WAN port on the TL-MR3220) but I can get no internet connection through the TL-MR3220.Is this normal i.e. something that the TL-MR3220 is not designed to do, or am I just using the wrong settings ? I have tried a whole range of different settings but none seem to work.

Belkin F5D7633 Connecting WIMAX Internet To ADSL Router

Mar 12, 2013

I have a Wimax internet connection via an ethernet cable from a small roof top receiver dish. Inside the house the cable (RJ45) is plugged into the POE slot on one side of a small electrically powered black box, and from the other side, an ethernet cable (RJ45), connects to my PC. I want to share my internet connection with my HTC mobile and would prefer to make use of an existing Belkin 54g ADSL2 modem/wireless router (Belkin F5D7633) if I can. As this router's incoming port is specifically for ADSL my internet RJ45 cable can not plug into it. I have been advised that I can still utilise the router part of the Belkin though, using my PC as an access point, by plugging the ethernet cable from the PC side of the little black box into LAN 1 on the router, then joining the PC to LAN 2 of the router with another ethernet cable.I did not alter the configuration of the Belkin at all (having reset factory defaults beforehand), mainly because although I could access the internet from my PC and my mobile, I could not access the IP address of the router, presumably because the properties of the local area connection on my PC remained unchanged with the IP address (, Subnet Mask (, Default Gateway ( and 3 DNS addresses ( ( ( as they were before hooking up the Belkin. The IP address the mobile received through WIFI on connecting to the Belkin was

I was not unduly concerned about not being able to access the configuration of the router as everything was working as I had hoped it would and even when I powered off my PC I still had internet access on my mobile. On rebooting the PC, however, I found that the router changed the DNS addresses on the PC to 2 only, both identical ( and the IP on the mobile was allocated Although I could still access the internet on my PC, I no longer had access from my mobile although the WIFI connection to the Belkin showed as being 'excellent'. When I did a 'repair' of my internet connection, hoping to revert to a fully operative state, the PC configuration changed again as follows: IP address becomes that of the router (, Subnet Mask (, Default Gateway (, 2 DNS addresses ( and the IP address allocated to my mobile remains ( This configuration means I have no internet access from either PC or phone, but CAN access the router configuration. I restored a usable operating state by unplugging the power from the router, transposing the cables in the LAN ports on the router (swapped cable from LAN1 to LAN2 and vice versa), turned off WIFI on mobile and waited a minute or two. When I powered the router back up and switched on mobile WIFI again, everything was restored to the original working state and I have, once again, access to internet on both PC and mobile. It is very frustrating, however, to keep performing this ritual and I wonder if any of you more technically minded, know a way to work around this, perhaps by manually changing the configuration of PC or router?

Cisco Switching/Routing :: 1700 ADSL Router - Connecting 2 Sites Together

Jan 23, 2012

We currently have a main network running through a static broadband connecting using a Cisco 1700 ADSL router, everything is working fine locally.

We are looking to rent some space in an office nearby so im going to order another business adsl connection with static IP for this site and i currently have a spare 1800 router. My question is can the cisco routers connect up like a VPN connection so both sites work together and will the connection remain online constantly so from the remote office we can access all our servers from the main network?

Also how does the IP addressing work on 2 sites. The main network uses 10.120.21.x and DHCP is assigned from a cisco router. Does the remote network assign from the same DHCP server or would the remote sites cisco router need to be setup to give out DHCP to local machines. If so what would be the best IP setup to use.

Linksys Wireless Router :: Adding WRTG54 To Vigor ADSL Modem?

Sep 27, 2012

We have a Vigor ADSL modem linked to a hub that then links to 3 pc's and 2 printers all via ethernet. Connection to the outside world is fine.
A few weeks ago the IT geek decided to switch the modem from DHCP to PPPoA and put each pc & printer on fixed IPs. The Vigor is also on a static IP.
This therefore cut off our link to the Linksys WRTG54 we have in a different room serving as a wireless router.
The Linksys is/was connected via ethernet to port 1, port 2 direct to laptop. Wireless worked fine until they changed to static IP etc on the Vigor, now we only have ethernet to the laptop and no Wireless.
What do we need to do at the Linksys end to get wireless working again?
